Can 6233 use ActiveSync

I just got a new pc at work and am told that PC Suite is not allowed for this configuration ( - I have to use ActiveSync.
Does the 6233 support ActiveSync, and if yes, what software do I need?
If not, what would be an alternative phone that supports ActiveSync?

Simondfrann, this section of the forum is for questions about MicroSoft ActiveSync. You have a PalmOS device, that uses Palm Desktop and the HotSync Manager to connect and syncronize to your computer! That's probably your first mistake.
Install the software to your computer that was provided you on the disk that came with the device.

Mailbox Server Crashed, can I use ActiveSync mail on Ipad to "recover" email

I had an Exchange 2010 server (only one), running all services have a hard crash with no backup. I was lucky that 2 days earlier setup a second AD controller, and second Exchange server in the environment. There were no backups of the original server
(I DON'T HAVE ANY MDB FILES). I was able to get most users email back, by exporting OST to PST, then re-importing the PST file. I have 4 users who never used Outlook, only OWA. They have all their email on Ipad's. I have changed their passwords so the IPad
are not connecting to the new mail server. I need to find a way to get the email on the IPads back to the new mail server. I am afraid that if I just let ActiveSync connect, it will delete all the email on the IPad, since it is no longer on the mail server.
No mailboxes were actually deleted from the crash. I was able to re-home them to the new Exchange server, I don't know if that make any difference.

There are no official MS Office apps for the iPad.
Luckily, Apple has built a lot of the functionality into iOS5.
Go to Settings >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Near the top, hit Add Account.
Select Exchange.
Fill in the details. You may need to ask your IT guys for the details if you don't know all of them.
You can use the standard Mail, Contacts and Calendar apps for those items. Tasks is handles by the Reminders app.
As James said, the functionality is more limited than the full desktop apps, but you can perform probably 80-90% of common tasks fairly easily.

Android & WM6.5 devices can't use ActiveSync with Exchange 2013, ADFS and WAP.

Bit of a long winded title but I was trying to sum up the issue.
Newly installed Exchange 2013 environment; we've setup external access for OA and ActiveSync. We've used ADFS with WAP to publish the necessary paths etc. We've setup DNS and firewall rules etc.
OA is perfect and can be accessed by anything with a browser. ActiveSync is perfect for any new Windows Mobile device and any iOS device. When we've tried to sync older WM6.5 or any Android device, it just doesn't seem to want to work.
We've checked logs on both devices; the WM6.5 complains about a cert issue however we've took every step from installing the CA, RA and actual cert on the device to no avail. Some android device complain about using the port 443 but no matter what
we change this to it still won't sync.
Unfortunately my suggestion of 'just give everyone a new phone' went down as well as...well lets just say not good :)
I appreciate this might be an ADFS\WAP issue but thought I'd rule Exchange out first so any advice is much appreciated.

Can i use activesync on mbp with windows xp & parallel

OK, new Mac user needs help at v basic level, I want to sync a windows smartphone (htc3300) with outlook installed on windows xp, which runs via parallel on a mabook pro with tiger OS. At the moment the acivesync can't find the smartphone, am i expecting too much of xp on a mac or do I need to tell the mac to allow traffic that it doesn't normally see. It's connected via a usb & all the usbs are working normally.
I've previously synced with a vista pc with no probs

we're looking at trying to block iTunes on all business iPhones and iPADs using ActiveSync to prevent users downloading applications
What I have found so far is:
1) iTunes is part of the OS and as such is defined as an In-ROM application– An OS applications
2) ActiveSync can only block In-Memory applications – user or business downloaded applications
Can someone confirm I have understood this correctly. If not;
3) Are there issues to blocking iTunes? Will it break anything else?

I'm not sure. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if you can't--iTunes is a fundamental app for iOS
I'd suggest looking in detail at the options available for configuring iOS policies using Exchange ActiveSync, or perhaps exploring an alternate mobile device management solution. Although, I believe because of the locked down nature of iOS that third party MDM tools can't really do anything more/different than EAS. For more about me, check out my about.me profile.

Nokia 6233 - after update can`t use any Pic`s for ...

After Firmware Update to 5.10 i can`t use any pic for mms. I get only a white screen and the phone reboot.
Before i update no problem with pics.
The Update was an original from nokia with the nokia updater.
Any Idea`s?

Try the following:
Try it without the memory card in using a file from phone memory.
Factory reset the phone (you can find this in the settings menu).
Run the updater again and see if it gives you the option to reinstall the update.
If that fails to work then you need to visit a nokia care point and ask them to reflash the phones firmware.

Update accounts using activeSync

I have a question regarding the 'update' process using activeSync.
I have an SAP HR activeSync adapter installed. On a create, the user is stored within IDM based the employeenumber fetched from activeSync. The account within IDM is not only the employeenumber but a few letters concatenated as well, e.g. XYZ012345. Now, when an update occurs on the SAP HR system, the activeSync adapter is searching for the employeenumber to match the accounts. Ofcourse, the IDM accountId is different from the employeenumber. Consequence, the update is turned into a create.
The question is, how do I make sure the activeSync process recognizes the IDM account as a matching account for the employeenumber fetched by the activeSync?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your replies, I figured out those sollutions as well and after you came up with the same ones, I thought those would be the solutions. Unfortunately, they weren't.
In contrast to the FlatFile activeSync and PeopleSoft activeSync, you can't configure a correlation rule on the activeSync properties from the SAP HR ACTIVESYNC ADAPTER. I thought, the activeSync process would automatically inherit the correlation rule from the reconciliation policy, but unfortunately it didn't.
The doc's on the lifecycle of an activeSync say the following on correlation:
ActiveSync adapters either expect the resource name to match the IdM user name, allow configuration of a �naming� attribute, or allow specification of a correlation rule (FlatFile ActiveSync and PeopleSoft Component) for matching the incoming poll record to an actual IdM user..
The first and third option are not applicable for my situation so probably I have to do something with the 'naming' attribute. Any suggestions on this one?

IPhones using activesync causing excessive transaction log growth on Exchange 2010

Hi there.
We have around 60 iPhone or iPad users who are retrieving their emails from our Exchange 2010 SP2 servers using activesync.
Back when everyone was using the 3GS this worked just fine but late in 2011 we noticed that the transaction logs on our exchange servers were growing out of control. They should be roughly two times the volume of emails sent or received but all of a sudden we were getting fourty times as many! We only send just over 1GB of emails per week but have 50GB of transaction logs in that time.
I've spent ages trying to track down the cause and have an open TAC case with Microsoft that's been dragging on for several months now. We have recently proved that it's activesync causing the log growth - disable it and everything returns to normal - but they don't seem to be in any rush to identify a fix and I suspect their answer will be "Stop using iPhones".
Has anyone else seen this behaviour before and if so did you find a fix?
I was hoping iOS 6 might provide a solution but I'm reluctant to get everyone to upgrade because of the well publicised problems with maps and now I see that there are different Activesync bugs involving cancellation of meeting requests.
Anyone who can provide me with a resolution will win a prize as I'm at my wits end here.

I have seen the issue twice in two weeks. Two different users, the commonality is both an iphone, and an ipad. In both cases the ipad was on wifi. I was able to turn on device logging in the ECP and in 20 minutes captured over 1 MB log on i-pad. I disabled the i-pad via the ecp and issue disipated.
When I reviewed the log the content that was being sync'd was over 5 months old. I instructed the user to back off to 30 days. Device is still stable, and the 30 days is just a temporary solution. I have opened a case with Microsoft for further review of the session log. What is interesting is that the log is consumed with a particular fetch and message class: ipm.note.eas <- EAS is the Exchange Archiving System stub created by Zantaz. I confirmed with our admin that we did not do any sync on the EAS server. I am looking into if the User initiated an Outlook resync of stubs.

Possible to use Activesync without Exchange?

In my organization, we don't use Exchange, but we do use Outlook for mail, contacts and calendar.
Will it be possible for iPhone3G to use Activesync to communicate with my office computer, or does it HAVE to use exchange?

HT1751 I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I use a Flash Drive to do so?

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to 'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)

Now when I go to Sync either device, it tells me that this IOS device can only be synced with one AppleID. Then I get a message to erase it, not going to do that, lol. If I logout as one ID and login as the other, will it still retain all synced information on the PC from the first IOS device? I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

Can I Use iTunes Store without Storing Bank Accounts, etc, in my Profile?

Today a fraudulent charge of $89.99 appeared on my iTunes account. This suggests that a hacker has obtained my password, and hence access to all information in my iTunes account, including credit card or Paypal account information. I can deal with having to claim refunds for fraudulent iTunes purchases, but I cannot afford to risk ID Theft, or to have my back account information in the possession of hackers.
(1) Is it possible to maintain an iTunes account that does not store bank accounts, and ideally stores no personal information other than my email address?
(2) If I can do this, I assume I'd then have to enter that information for each purchase. Will this information be expunged once the ourchase is complete? Or would it remain on the system in some form, accessible to hackers?
(3) If (1) is not possible, how do I cancel my iTunes account? There does not seem to be such an option on the iTunes Account Management screens.

You can remove your credit card from your account. Go into the account, click "Edit payment information" and you will see the option under credit card to click "None."
For purchasing, you can either enter the card info per transaction, or you can start using iTunes gift cards which are readily available.

How can I use apps downloaded by different users on the same iPad?

I have a 'work' iPad so the apps on it have been downloaded using two different accounts. Which was fine until I did an update at the weekend and suddenly I can only use the one's I downloaded. Is there anyway of 'sharing' these apps so who logs in can use all the apps?

No, I don't think there is. As far as I know the iPad is meant to be a 'one per Apple ID' device...and isn't really meant to have multiple Apple ID's downloading apps to a singular device.
I think the simplest way around your issue is to use only one Apple ID to download everything.
