Can a application that runs on a terminal server be opened through the dock

Hi everybody,
I posted this question previously under dock but it was suggested to post it under Server. All threads I found on the first page for "terminal server" are in this area so I hope I am right here.
I have been spending some time trying to figure out how to run MYOB Premier in multi-user environment once I switch the office over to Mac.
One solution I found is to use a terminal server as the multi-user performance of MYOB is in general super-bad.
I need to make everything as simple as possible for my partner so she has to open the application/file by clicking on a dock-icon.
Is this possible? File and application would be on a Vista server with XPunlimited as terminal server solution. I don't have a clue how terminal server applications are handled by Snow Leopard.
Cheers,
Edward

You should be able to drag the app onto the Dock and it should work, but your best bet is to talk with the tech support people with the company who made your terminal server to see what they recommend.

  • "Net use" not working in application that runs as "system"

    Hello,
I am trying to create an application object to distribute a program which
during the setup procedure creates two local users on the workstation. I
tried to set up the application to run as an unsecure system user and
start the setup.exe. This method worked fine for quite a number of apps in
    the past.
However this app needs a drive mapping to a windows 2003 server to start
the setup.exe. Apparently under windows 2003 it is no longer possible to
use the "net use" command when running a script as system user. I get
system error 1312 "A specified logon session does not exist. It may have
already been terminated". There seems to be no solution from microsoft
since this is probably working as designed.
In another similar situation I copied the complete setup directory to a
novell drive, but in this case the setup procedure needs to write
information into a database located on the windows server. I might be able
to set up the application via snapshot and create the user accounts using
a distribution script. But I would need the consent of the windows
administrators since I need the passwords for those user accounts, and I
am not sure that they are cooperative in this respect. Furthermore I get
the feeling that this program is going to present a number of other
problems and surprises which probably will make the snapshot method very
    tricky.
Is there any solution or workaround for this problem?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    1) It should not be an issue to run "Net Use" to authenticate to a Windows
2003 server from an "Unsecure System Prompt". This is quite common.
    2) If the PC is in the domain already, this may be part of the issue since
you are already authenticated to the domain. Try adding the Domain
    Workstation Object the proper rights.
    3) Does the "Setup.exe" expand to an MSI install in the temp directory? In
such a case you could like create an MSI install that runs as a normal user
but the Windows Install will allow for the elevated rights.

Why would you use a flakey app to replace a built in windows function that works fine?
Turn on remote desktop sharing undr computer properties and run mstsc on the machine with kb, mouse and monitor to control the other pc's via rdp
Synergy isn't that flakey. It just doesn't get along well with one particularly old program I use that access an online database via FTP.  When the FTP transfer is running, Synergy stops.  As soon as the transfer is done, it comes back.  Not even a minor annoyance for me.
Synergy is not a remote desktop sharing function.  It is simply a keyboard and mouse sharing function like the old keyboard/mouse switch boxes.
I've two computers on my desk; a work laptop and a home desktop.  Each has their own keyboards and screens.  With Synergy, I can use one keyboard and mouse to control both machines.  I simply move the mouse from one screen to another and control follows.  It's just like moving a mouse between multiple monitors on a single machine, except that I'm actually switching between computers.
I thought Windows remote desktop functions are for just that - remote access to a machine where keyboard, mouse and screen are duplicated on the client.  If I'm missing something, please educate.  Also consider if it'll work with Windows7 Home Premium.
Synergy is also cross platform, so when I fire up a Linux machine I sometimes use, it too can share the same keyboard and mouse.
    Thanks.

  • URL request syntax to redirect to a Flex Desktop application that runs in ADOBE AIR

I'm developing a Flex Project that runs on ADOBE AIR. This

another Flex desktop application. Can anyone please tell me how the
URL should look like in the new UrlRequest( ). Thanks in advance
    for any help....................

After two days of research and getting localConnection to work, just to realize the application has to be running in order to pass variables to it with localConnection.  I realized that I set <allowBroswerInvocation> to true in my air application, but forgot to uncomment it in the descriptor file.  Extremely upsetting..... I can now get the airSWF.getApplicationVersion() to return the correct version number, but am still having problems with the airSWF.launchApplication() since it hard to debug, and just doesnt do anything.  Below is the code in the Install.log after running the launchApplication() function  I am still working on it and will post my progress.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • How do I know if my application is running from within WebLogic server

I have an application that could be running either as a standalone
application (with its own VM) or as a servlet (within the WebLogic's
VM). How can the application determine the environment in which it is
    running?

We have a similar situation here and we took the approach suggested below.
It does work, however it is creating one problem for us.
Sometime after the code below executes, our application attempts to
    construct
the initial JNDI context (in order to look up an EJB Home). In the case
    where
our application is running outside of a WLS instance, we get the following

It would appear that the failed call to getT3Services() is leaving the

So, the question I have is "is there any *safe* way to determine if an

I am fairly new to vb.net and have read a few books and followed a few tutorials on youtube, what I would like to know is, are there any disadvantages
to the way I have connected to a SQL database using the SQLControl.vb.  A lot of the vb books include data adapter and dataset within the form, I'm not sure if I'm following best practice by have the connection details outside of the form.
My other question is, I have created two connections in the SQLControl and call these connections within the same form using the same data adapter
and dataset.  It all works fine but I just wanted to know of any potential issues?

    1) You are not using Sepration of concerns for a solution that is doing data access, like using a DAL.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_concerns
    2) You are directly issuing SQL commands at the UI, leading to sql injection attacks.
    3) You are not using a UI design pattern, which leads you to tightly couple database activity to the UI.
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/228214/Understanding-Basics-of-UI-Design-Pattern-MVC-MVP
@System243trd, parameters are important to prevent SQL injection attacks (people will insert SQL commands into the database if you do not perform basic checking of what you are passing to the database). If you write a stored procedure try to make
the variables the correct SQL server data type to avoid problems later of people trying to call it directly.  Darnold924 is right, I see no code to prevent against SQL injection attacks. In addition, during development in some instances LocalSQLDB
database system is used and during deployment you usually need to use the production SQL server database. Moreover,  Linq-to-SQL is used on Windows Phone 8.1 and it is required for phone development later and so I highly recommend learning
it if you plan on developing windows phone applications.
@System243trd, If you want the code for the windows phone app I think it uses the MVVM model or that might be for universal apps or regular windows phone apps. I have been using the windows phone Silverlight pivot or panorama template (it might
be pieces of both). I've already submitted to the windows phone marketplace and it had to go through certification first. I plan on later making an article on it but I need to first fix one or two simple problems I have with it.  Here's a link to
the source code if you later want to look at the source code (in vb.net):

If I purchased a movie, from a computer a LONG time ago like 3 years but recently I changed computers how can I get that movie back? p.s. I bought the movie from iTunes

If you don't have the movie on the old computer and you don't have the movie backed up on a disc somewhere, your only choice is to purchase the movie again. Currently, movie downloads are a one time deal andit is your responsibility to have a backup copy.
If you have the movie on the other computer still, you can burn it to a DVD and then copy it over to the new computer.
Personally, I have two computers and when I make a purchase on one, iTunes automatically copies it to the other and I have never lost videos or music in this manner.

You can go to settings in your Gmail, select your account, and scroll down to the bottom where you can check the box for Download attachments.  This isn't directly saving the file to the phone, but it is allowing it to download temporarily so that you can view it.  If you are referencing the stock email app, I'm not sure as I don't use that app any longer.

    Hi,
Which operating system are you running on?
Try starting the organizer while holding down the shift key.  Hopefully, it should load the Catalog Manager.
Select your current catalog and click on the Repair button. Once it has finished, click on the Open button to see if the catalog opens.

    Hello, skifmli
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to sync your iPhone and receive an error.  I was start with restarting iTunes and your computer.  Once this is done, test the results by attempting a sync.  If the issue persists, go through the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

No, I would recommed to use two separate iCloud accounts for mail, calendars, notes, reminders, contacts etc.

the "Relink" command uses the same dialog as the "Place" command, with the exception of having the "Replace" option checked...so, use Ctrl+Shift+P to bring up the Place dialog, select your new image then check the "Replace" check box.
if checking "Replace" with the mouse slows you down, after selecting your image, press "tab" key 3 times to switch focus to it, then press space bar to check it, then ok to place.

  • Apps appearing "open" in the dock that are not

I have noticed that after upgrading to Mountain Lion, exactly two apps appear permanently "open" in the Dock (glowing dot) while in fact they are not open. This only happens with two apps at the moment: Skype and Billings by Marketcircle.
Precisely, if I leave any of two apps open before a restart and mark the corresponding dialogue to open all windows anew, Skype and Billings will not open but will show as open in the Dock. A double click then regularly launches the app.
    Has anyone seen this?

You say they are open but in fact they are not.  It is true they are not Open, Open but they are active!  If you do not want apps to be "Active' at login you must quit app before shutdown, if you do not ever want any apps to be "Active" at login then do this as shown here....
