Can a Canadian buy a refurbished macbook of the american apple store?

It seems that the Canadian apple store has only expensive refurbished macbooks that I can't afford. Will I be able to buy a refurbished macbook of the American site and have it shipped to my home a address (in Canada) since the refurbished macbooks are cheaper? If its not possible, can someone recommend a laptop thats under $850 that is good for photo editing?

No. You must be in the US in order to access the US store. The US store will not ship to Canada.
Otherwise you could look for something on eBay.

Can I buy an iPhone 5 in the Sydney Apple Store?

Are there any Australians out there that can answer this for me? I'm going on holiday to Sydney (I live in New Zealand) in a week, and it would be great if I could buy an iPhone 5 there, instead of waiting a few more weeks for them to ship if I bought it on the online store here. Does the Sydney apple store, or any retail stores in Sydney have the iPhone 5 in stock? Also, will it work normally if I brought it back to New Zealand?

Canada sells unlocked iPhone 5's. Why not check this out for yourself by going to the Apple store website and then changing the country to Canada?
You can't purchase it from the store online though - you'll have to travel directly to Canada yourself to buy it because there is no international shipping available.

The USA web store requires payment in US funds, from a US source, and with a US billing address for the account. And as Limnos mentions, they do not ship internationally - they will only ship to a US street address (no P.O. Boxes so no re-shipper will work either).

Based on what I can tell, you may have to go to the second hand market in order to get a MBP that will run a compatible OSX.

Do I have a choice of a certain keyboard layout when I buy a refurbished Macbook Air or Pro?
I like to buy a Macbook Air or Pro in the Swiss Apple Online Store.
There seems to be no information at all which kind of keyboard layout (e.g. US QWERTY or German QWERTZ) is built in.

No further configurations are allowed. You would have to find one with the keyboard you want already present on the mac. I'm not sure where you can find info on how the keyboards in the refurb store are configured. I would assume QWERTY unless otherwise specified (at least in the U.S. Apple refurb store).

I thinking of buying a refurbished MacBook Pro 15". I can't seem to get any knowledgeable answers at the Apple store about the benefits of the i5 vs. i7 processors. I've been pretty happy with my late 2008 MBP but it's been dropped hard and is on it's way out. Any opinions about what to buy balancing processor, price, reliability? I'm a designer and photographer and the video processor is important also.
