Can a Cisco 1242 AP participate in a 1510 Mesh AP network?
I am getting mixed views from different vendors whether a Cisco 1242 AP can participate in an outdoor 1510 Mesh AP network using some sort of external antenna or something?
I personally feel that it should be doable because both are Cisco devices. Or is a total no-no and I must find some other way to connect a wired indoor building to a Mesh external wireless network?
Thanks!

Does not say "MESH" but it does say...
Designed for rugged environments and installations that require antenna versatility, the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series features antenna connectors for extended range or coverage versatility and more flexible installation options. Manufacturing applications, for example, can place WLANs in hazardous locations and remotely place antennas in the hazardous locations while securing the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series Access Points. The access point without wired connection will use the 5-GHz radio to wirelessly connect to the other access point for backhaul to the network.

Can the Cisco UCS 6120XP direct attach the EMC CX4-120 by fibre protocol ?
Hi all
I have two question for Cisco UCS
Q1: Can the Cisco UCS 6120XP direct attach the EMC CX4-120 by fibre protocol ?
Q2: I know the UCS 61XX Series support the Cisco SAN Switch(MDS).But we are only Brocade san switch ,
so UCS 61XX Series supoort Brocade san switch ?
Thanks , I really want to know the information .Q1: The 6120s run in NPV (N_Port Virtualization) mode which means it acts as a proxy for the blade vHBAs and doesn't participate in flogi (fabric logins). When a fabric switch runs in this mode it requires an uplink to a faber switch for flogi and zoning. Due to this you cannot direct attach the the 6120 to an array's front-end fiber ports.
Q2: Yes you can uplink the 6120 to a Brocade fabric as long as the Brocade supports NPIV. -
I just updated itunes and started to update my phone to iSo5 when wireless connection was lost on my laptop, I can't get it back and it says there are no networks available-router is working fine, am using it on my iPhone now. Help!
Reboot your router. You by chance dont have a netgear N300 WNR2000 router do you? I had one of those and would lose wifi on it constantly, Switched to a Cisco wifi router and it works much better.

My macbook pro and ipad does not recognize my printer on my wireless network, but my pc does. How can I get my apple products to see it on the network so I can print wirelessly? My printer is a Brother MFC-J270W
try disabling email scanning for incoming mail.
One of the last things that occurs is the mail server and Thunderbird sign off on "where we are up to" and Thunderbird stores this state information in the popstate.dat file in your profile (there is one in each POP mail account folder). If the anti virus, or you for that matter, end the conversation a few seconds early that hand off does not occur and the popstate is not stored. -
Can I share one iTunes Library with multiple computers on a network?
Can I share one iTunes Library with multiple computers on a network?
note: one library universally shared, not Home Sharing (one library each, shared to each.)
I want to share one library stores on my server and access it through various local computers. When I buy a song from a computer (non-server), I want it to be added to the library (stored on server). I want it to auto copy to my server, for organization. I want to be able to sync my phone from any computer.
Most of this I can do, if i figure out how to use one universal library for all my computers.
Any ideas how I can do this?eyeinit,
You can authorize your iTunes account on up to 5 computers at a time.
However, purchased music is downloaded to the first machine to download it, but these articles have more information on moving your music between authorized computers:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93063
This one is for moving all your music using an iPod as a storage drive

Hope this helps,

Yes, you can install and use the software on the 2nd machine so long your new company owns the license, the software is used but the same person who is using the primary installation (that is, you).

Can't connect to wireless via Airport - Other's on my network can though :/
I woke up this morning to no internet on my mac. I usually use Airport, and it usually automatically connects, but today it made me type in my WEP key again, so I did, and still no internet. I have FiO's so I went on Verizon's chat service and they said it wasn't the Router because my xbox, other pc's, etc - were connected via wireless network, so it had to be my mac. Everytime I try to connect, it picks up the wirless network, I type in my WEP key and the Airport icon get's 5 bars, but then when I open up my browser, an exclamation comes up over the sign and it says "No internet connection". Just a little side note, it said that the airport doesn't have an IP address, and sometimes it say's it does, but because it was automatically assigned, it can't connect. Also, the DNS tab, under System Preferences > Network > Advanced, shows no ip's it's just all blank. I have a 2007 Macbook. I called up Apple and before I could even tell them my name, they told me I was un-eligible for help and hung up on me, great people they are. If I could, I would take this mac back and get my $1150 I paid for it, back. So now this is my last resort. Please post if you have any idea how to fix this. By the way: I am on an ethernet cable, so the internet and wireless obviously works. It has to be my mac, right?
I was having the same problem with the wifi not connecting to our home network on only one of our Macbooks. It kept giving itself a self assigned ip address. Everything else would connect fine to the home network and the computer with the problem connected fine to every other network aside from our home wifi. After reading this thread and trying everything on it, this is what finally fixed it: I didn't have anything under the 802.1x tab either. So I:
Turned the Airport off and completely deleted the Airport in network preferences.
Then I went to keychain access and deleted EVERY wifi network password saved under both Login and System.
I turned the computer off and removed the battery and did the SMC reset by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.
When I restarted the computer, I reset the PRAM by holding down OPTION, COMMAND, P, and R at the same time RIGHT AFTER I pushed the power button to turn it on and before the grey screen appeared.
It reset and when the computer was back on, I added the airport again and joined my home WEP wfi network. It worked perfectly! Now I don't know if all of these steps are required to fix the problem but this is what worked for me. The Macbook with the problem was a black Macbook running 10.6.8. Good luck! -
Does the following scenario work??? :-
A Windows PC is connected to Airport TimeCapsule (ATC) wifi.
A Mac is connected to the ATC wifi.
The Mac's Time Machine software is set up and automatically backs up to the internal HDD.
The Mac can browse files on the internal HDD, and drag and drop files to and from.
The PC can easily see the internal HDD as a device on the network. The PC can drag and drop files to the internal HDD. The PC can read and write to the files that the MAC has placed on it. The PC has some automated backup software installed, which recognises the ATC internal HDD as a backup storage device. You are right.. you cannot partition a TC.
Nor can you use NTFS..
And you can corrupt the TM backup but you can do that from Mac just as well.. the TC is better with one disk used for data or TM and another disk.. a USB plugged in for the other.
Windows compatible means.. all names are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
You used to be able to set workgroup but Apple haven't bothered with that of late.. there is no upgrade to the airport utility for windows.. although one should be coming. Windows can have issues.. it was no problem on the older 5.6 utility and that still partly works but I have no idea if it will work on the AC model. -
Can't get my ipad1 to connect to my home wifi network after doing restore
Can't get my ipad1 to reconnect to my home wifi network after doing restore, help please
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

A particular network user can't login to a mac in a classrom but other network users can. Then the network user can login to other identical macs in same classroom. Anyone seen this before? It has happen twice. Two different teachers in two different classrooms entering the correct user name and passwords and computer won't allow them to login. Then they try in different computers in same classroom and have no problem login.
Yes. I can login with a test user. And any other network user can login as well to this particular mac. Actually the mac has bootcamp and boots into either mac or windows. The same user entering the same login username and password can login into the windows side, but not the mac side.
I had this same issue last semester in another classroom, another mac and a different teacher. This summer I reformatted and imaged that mac and I asked that teacher to login today to that reimagened mac and she had no problem today doing so. -

Yu need a device like the following:
- A MiFi or similar. They are credit-card size devices that act a wifi hotspot and then connect to a cellulare network
- Use a smart phone that can act as a wifi hotspot to share it s cellular connection. An iPhone will also do that via bluetooth. You need to purchase a tethering plan .
