It would not be uncommon for a p3 bios to not list dvd...this does not mean the dvd will not work on the machine, only that you can not boot from dvd. at least via this method. as suggested sometimes a bios update is possible, however it is not nessessary if you simply want to use the dvd drive for data read/write. playing commercial dvd movies would depend not so much on the bios but the speed, ram OS and player. in general a p3-650-256+ ram will read/write and play dvd..however hardware configuration can present some issues and more importantly the os configuration. some operating systems require you to add optical drives or dvd functionality during or after install. and my be listed in /etc/fstab or a configuration file for system drives. if this is not the case then you may need to check the drive. I usually do this on a system known to work well with dvd and go from there. That said
are you attempting to play a dvd movie? read a data dvd? what was the burn speed ?what is the dvd  reader speed? what are you reading the files with ie program? have you mounted your dvd? has the dvd drive worked for you before? what is the computer spec?
answer to any of these questions will help others to help you solve your dvd query
in my experience playing a dvd movie on a p3 does not require mount, simple open a player and click dvd...for data mount the dvd and view files in file manager..
does that help at all
cheers

My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.
I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts.  Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins?  Really concerned about losing any music, etc.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Is it possible to sync my itunes account from my ipad to my ipod nano 7th generation? My desktop is so old that I can't do it from there.

Is it possible to sync my itunes music from my ipad to my ipod nano 7th generation? My desktop computer is so old that I can't do it from there.

No, the iPad cannot sync to anything else since its not really a computer.  You need a computer to do that.
How old is your computer? Make and Model?
Its not so much the computer, but more so the Version of iTunes installed on it.

  • I just bought a new computer.  I know that I have several "libraries" on the old one.  How can i transfer the data most efficiently?

I just purchased a new computer.  My old computer has several "libraries" that have been saved.  How do I know how to transfer the data most efficiently?

The progress for some games will transfer since some games synce progress to a cental server. For other games you will have to have the backup of the old iPod.
You can restore from backup or access the backup. See:
How to transfer game saves between iOS devices, without iTunes, and without jailbreaking | TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog
If you have acces to the old iPod yu can make a backup by connecting the iPod to the computer and right click on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup.

  • How can I erase a photo album that was uploaded from an old computer that I don't have no more? I have other albums in the Iphone that I don't want to delete.

How can I erase a photo album that was uploaded from an old computer that I don't have no more? I have other albums in the Iphone that I don't want to delete.

If you sync with the new computer it will erase the current content from the iphone and replace with the selected content of the new computer.
The pics that you have taken with the iphone should be imported regularly to your computer as you would with any digital camera.  You can then organize them and sync them back to the iphone if you wish.
If you have had itunes perform a backup on the new computer, you should get the pics taken with the iphone back, but I would import them before trying anything.

    Are these Audio CDs?
Only Audio CDs will show up in iTunes.
This is new to me because I am used to importing and making copies from my playlists.
I don't follow. Would you explain this a bit more?

Hello, I got a new computer with the old harddisk. Can't play my itunes music because not authorised. Apple ID is very old e-mail adress that doesn't exist anymore and I forgot the password (5 years old??). When chose for secret question birth date seems wrong. Tried everything. I need to make a new apple-id but cannot connect the music that I bought under my old name to my new name. Can't reach anyone!!! Automatic FAQ system is of no help. What to do?

That doesn't help me. For itunes it brings me to the express lane which doesn't help because my case is not in it. It's all standard procedure things. I understand those but my situation is different. The combination of a passport forgotten and an non-existing email adress (and birth dates that are not correct or not accepted). What I need is my password emailed to another email adress than the original one because that no longer exists.

  • I had my i-pod synked to my old computer and i lost that computer, now i have a new one, can i synk it to my i-pod and keep all the data thats on the i-pod

i had my i-pod synced to my old computer and i lost that computer. now i have a new one , and i want to sync it to my i-pod can i do that and save all my music

    iPod classic?
    Recover media from iPod
See this post from forum regular Zevoneer for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.
    ... or iPod touch?
    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • New computer:  Can I upload new songs from my new computer to my old ipod without deleting the playlists that already exist??

I recently had to purchase a new computer due to my old one shooting sparks and almost setting fire to my furniture when I used it.  I can use it rarely to try to get my itunes loaded to transfer over, but it usually doesn't cooperate.  I now have a bunch of new songs on my new itunes from purchases and also uploading old cd's.  I want to be able to add these songs to my playlists I already have mostly because I use my ipod to work out and also, there are a large amount of songs from my old computer on playlists currently. Is there anyway to make new playlists from my new computer onto my old ipod??

You should be backing up regularly so you can transfer your library to the new computer.
    Otherwise, you can transfer purchases

For non-purchased content you will need to find a 3rd party app

  • HT204053 My wife currently has two different apple accounts as we changed our email address plus got a new computer. I believe that all of her info is under her old email address plus on the old computer. how can we merge the two accounts

My wife currently has two different Itunes account as one is on the old computer with our old email address, Instead of changing the email address on the old account we created a new itunes account with her new gmail address. I just updated the new update for her iphone however I cannot get her contacts etc moved to the new phone as I believe they are all on her old account. It says I need as well to authorize this computer for the itunes store as well but in her account it says one computer authorized (old one) but cannot figure our how to get the new computer authorized as well.

You should be able to authorise the account via the Store drop-down menu at the top of iTunes (if you are using iTunes 11 on a PC then control-B should get the menus to show)
    e.g.

  • I want to put music on my iPhone 4, but am not able to because I can not download the version of iTunes required because my mac computer is too old.

Am just having troubles in adding music to my new phone in that when I connect it to my computer it says that the phone requires the new version of iTunes being 10.5, but when I go to download this for my mac computer it says that this version of iTunes requires a different mac, meaning that my computer is too old.  So I am just wondering how I can get music onto my phone?!

You will have to upgrade your operating system version and possibly your whole computer.  We cannot provide more information easily until we know more about your system.
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
Apple does tell you about required equipment for the iPhone -- in 8 point medium gray type on a light gray box.   The Store associates kind of automatically assume everybody is running a new model computer and the one I met when we bought our iPhone had never seen a pre-2008 Mac and was somewhat puzzled why anybody would own such an antique.

  • How do i move ipod nano content to a new Windows computer?  My old computer died and when i try to sync to itunes on my new Windows computer, it says it will erase what's on the ipod.  I can't seem to de-authorize the old computer (it's been recycled).

Hi, I'm an ipod newbie, and unsure of what product i have-i believe it's an ipod nano, but can't seem to find any info on itunes that will identify my product.
how do i move ipod nano music to a new Windows 7 computer?  My old computer died and when i try to sync to itunes on my new Windows computer, it says it will erase what's on the ipod.  I can't seem to de-authorize the old computer (it's been recycled).  Does this mean I have to start all over and read in my CD's into itunes?  seems very inflexible/inelegant...
thanks for your help, sorry if this question has already been answered before!

Is there no ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM?

  • I was given an older ipod as a gift and want to load the songs into my computer, but it says that I can not access the sync feature.  I registered for an Apple ID and when I tried it won't let me register.

When I was given the iPod it had a GREAT load of songs already on it. (That was part of the whole "gift" thing.)  I want to sync it and create playlists in my own library and copy the songs to my computer's library too.  I applied for an Apple ID, and find that this is so old that eventhough it was NEVER registered it is listed under a weird username and won't let me register as the new owner to access the music and sync.  What do I do?  It is an older version (I'm assuming) with 80G and only 25 have been used.  I can't access the music already loaded and don't want to lose the mp3 files I have in my existing library now too.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

    Hi eddinchina,
You should have no need to use the Old Sync account.
As long as device or devices are Firefox 29 or later (They should all be Firefox 30 now) you should use the New Sync.
You may use the same email address with both accounts.
