Can a CS6 disc be used to upgrade CS5?

Just bought and installed the full version of CS6 on a MacBook Pro.  Can I use that disk to upgrade an iMac running CS5?  How many computers can a license (home, not business) cover?

Thanks, Michael, for the prompt reply.  Regarding the license, that's what I thought.
Instead of spending another $199 on the upgrade, I would like to uninstall CS5 and then install CS6.  Doable? When the time comes, I can deactivate the MacBook CS6 and add the 2nd iMac (I hope) to the license.
By the way, my CS5 was an upgrade and I couldn't find the license for the previous complete version.
Again, thanks.

  • Can Photoshop 7.0 be used to upgrade Photoshop 6.0 on a Mac G5 with Leopard 10.5.8 ?[was: gonzo1944]

Can Photoshop 7.0 be used to upgrade Photoshop 6.0 on a Mac G5 with Leopard 10.5.8 or will it not work unless it is in the Classic envoirnment?

To R. Kelly.....I am old school in Mac, I love my G5...I do have a Bachelors degree in Electronic Publishing, but I graduated in 95'...so, not meaning to bore you...I do have Photoshop 6.0 and was unaware, though I purchased Leopard throught the Mac store, that the classic would no longer be available. I do a great deal of work in Photoshop and Illustrator and I guess my main question is....where do I go from here?
I know that CS-5 Photoshop is a whole new program and I checked with Adobe and on Amazon and it is not cheap, I know enough to deal through an authorized dealer...My Mac is a power PC G5 that I purchased in 2005. What version of Photoshop do I need to purchase so that it is compatible with leopard?  I have much work piled up to do and this would help me greatly.
Thank you for your help and any help you can provide for me,

  • Can emac installer discs be used to install OS 9.2.2 on Pismo G3?

I have a full set of original eMac installer discs, and want to use one set to install OS9.2.2 on an Apple Pismo G3.
    Can this be done?
I've heard Apple OEM installer discs are "Mac machine specific", and can't be used to install OS software onto other
Apple Macs of a different model. But, I'm not sure if this is true, as there may be conflicting views on this subject.
The OEM eMac discs I have are as follows:
    • Two (2) disc OEM set
       eMac OS X 10.4
       AHT version 2.5
       Disc version 1.1
       2Z691-5518-A
    • Five (5) disc set:
eMac OS X and Mac OS 9
       Mac OS version 9.2.2
       CD version 1.0
       691-3981-A
So the question is .... if OS X Tiger 10.4 has already been installed on the Pismo G3 .... can the above installer discs of (5) OS 9.2.2 be used to install OS 9.2.2 on the Pismo G3?
I would assume the Pismo G3 Hard drive would already have to have the OS9 drivers installed, during the OS 10.4 installation (showing an OS 9 "System Folder" on the HD, to be able to receive the OS 9.2.2 installer discs. I also understand that if installable, that the OS 9.2.2 would only open in the "Classic" mode.
Any information as to if the above eMac OS 9.2.2 installer discs can be used to install OS 9.2.2 on the Pismo G3 ... would be appreciated.
OR .... if other OS9.2.2 installer discs would be more appropiate, and if so, what model of Apple installer discs to use on the Pismo G3.

    dalstott::
Below is the OS 9.2.2 "System Folder" that I was able to pull off the Number 1 - OEM eMac "Restore Sofware Disc".
It's obviously different than the first "System Folder" that I have, which I also showed above in a previous reply.
Since the above is off the eMac OS 9.2.2 installer disc, this is the one I think would be more appropiate for copy/dragging to the Pismo G3 Hard Drive.
Even though the Applications in the OS 9 Applications Folder are older, and probably not of much interest ... I also have the following "Applications (Mac OS 9)" folder, also taken off the eMac OS 9 installer disc. If I were to copy/drag this "Applications (Mac OS 9)" folder, to the Pismo G3 Hard Drive ... where do you think it should be placed?  In the OS 9.2.2 "System Folder" ... or separately on the main Hard Drive, with all the other main folders?
Note: All these installer folders were "Invisable" disc folders, and only "viewable" using FileBuddy in Mountain Lion 10.8.5.

  • Can I purchase a phone using my upgrade and assign it to a different account?

I did call Verizon and was told it would have to be purchased at the full retail price, but I'm curious if that's actually true or if they just want to try to get an extra few hundred out of me.
I have a Thunderbolt that I'm perfectly happy with, so I don't need the upgrade for myself. My sister, though, who has Verizon also, would like the white Apple iPhone 4S 16GB but her account isn't eligible for an upgrade. The price for her is $649.99, whereas for me it's listed at $199.99 with a two year contract. I figured I would be able to purchase it on my account and simply not activate it for my number, but when I called Verizon, I was told I'm not able to do that, even though she also has a Verizon account.
Is there no way around this at all? I don't mind if purchasing the phone renews my contract, but why can't I assign it to another account? If it was a small difference, I wouldn't really care, but that's a big gap in pricing, especially for a college kid.

you can buy it on your account
    activate it on your acount
you must activate on your account to accept the terms and conditions and renew your contract
    then reactivate your thunderbolt
then give it to your sister to activate on her account
    she may lose the warranty
but how are you eligable since the tbolt is not 2 years old yet?

  • Can i Chang PDF file using Acrobat Pro (CS5)?

Can i manipulate a PDF file - Delete elments, or delete elements with backgroung without changing the beckground?
    TNX
    Gadi

It depends a lot on how the file was created. If it's a scan, for example, then your editing options are very limited.
In any case, I recommend you upgrade to the latest version (Acrobat XI), where the editing tools are much more powerful than in previous versions.

  • Looking for information on best practices using Live Upgrade to patch LDOMs

This is in Solaris 10. Relatively new to the style of patching... I have a T5240 with 4 LDOMS. A control LDOM and three clients. I have some fundamental questions I'd like help with..
    Namely:
#1. The Client LDOMS have zones running in them. Do I need to init 0 the zone or can I just +zoneadm zone halt+ them regardless of state? I.E. if it's running a database will halting the zone essentially snapshot it or will it attempt to shut it down. Is this even a nessessary step.
#2. What is the reccommended reboot order for the LDOMs? do I need to init 0 the client ldoms and the reboot the control ldom or can I leave the client LDOM's running and just reboot the control and then reboot the clients after the control comes up?
#3. Oracle. it's running in several of the zones on the client LDOM's what considerations need to be made for this?
I am sure other things will come up during the conversation but I have been looking for an hour on Oracle's site for this and the only thing I can find is old Sun Docs with broken links.
Thanks for any help you can provide,

Before you use live upgrade, or any other patching technique for Solaris, please be sure to read http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23823_01/html/E23801/index.html which includes information on upgrading systems with non-global zones. Also, go to support.oracle.com and read Oracle Solaris Live Upgrade Information Center [ID 1364140.1]. These really are MANDATORY READING.
    For the individual questions:
#1. During the actual maintenance you don't have to do anything to the zone - just operate it as normal. That's the purpose of the "live" in "live upgrade" - you're applying patches on a live, running system under normal operations. When you are finisihed with that process you can then reboot into the new "boot environment". This will become more clear after reading the above documents. Do as you normally would do before taking a planned outage: shut the databases down using the database commands for a graceful shutdown. A zone halt will abruptly stop the zone and is not a good idea for a database. Alternatively, if you can take application outages, you could (smoothly) shutdown the applications and then their domains, detach the zones (zoneadm detach) and then do a live upgrade. Some people like that because it makes things faster. After the live upgrade you would reboot and then zoneadm attach the zones again. The fact that the Solaris instance is running within a logical domain really is mostly besides the point with respect to this process.
As you can see, there are a LOT of options and choices here, so it's important to read the doc. I ***strongly*** recommend you practice on a test domain so you can get used to the procedure. That's one of the benefits of virtualization: you can easily set up test environments so you cn test out procedures. Do it! :-)
#2 First, note that you can update the domains individually at separate times, just as if they were separate physical machines. So, you could update the guest domains one week (all at once or one at a time), reboot them into the new Solaris 10 software level, and then a few weeks later (or whenever) update the control domain.
If you had set up your T5240 in a split-bus configuration with an alternate I/O domain providing virtual I/O for the guests, you would be able to upgrade the extra I/O domain and the control domain one at a time in a rolling upgrade - without ever having to reboot the guests. That's really powerful for providing continuous availability. Since you haven't done that, the answer is that at the point you reboot the control domain the guests will lose their I/O. They don't crash, and technically you could just have them continue until the control domain comes back up at which time the I/O devices reappear. For an important application like a database I wouldn't recommend that. Instead: shutdown the guests. then reboot the control domain, then bring the guest domains back up.
    3. The fact that Oracle database is running in zones inside those domains really isn't an issue. You should study the zones administration guide to understand the operational aspects of running with zones, and make sure that the patches are compatible with the version of Oracle.
I STRONGLY recommend reading the documents mentioned at top, and setting up a test domain to practice on. It shouldn't be hard for you to find documentation. Go to www.oracle.com and hover your mouse over "Oracle Technology Network". You'll see a window with a menu of choices, one of which is "Documentation" - click on that. From there, click on System Software, and it takes you right to the links for Solaris 10 and 11.

  • Can't burn disc with OS X Mavericks from finder

When attempting to burn a collection of files from a burn folder to a writeable CD, the drive loads the CD when inserted, the CD image appears over the burn folder image normally, but nothing further happens.  When attempting to eject the CD using the eject button or right-click and choosing eject, I get a message stating "You can't burn a disc using "Disc Name" because it's locked."  I can unlock the disc by using Get Info and unchecking the box for "locked".  However, this only allows me to eject the disc, I am still unable to burn the disc.  The symptom occurs with different discs so the problem is not related to the medi
However, iTunes writes CD's normally.  It appears that only writing CD's from the finder does not work, so it is not the CD drive.

Not sure this is related, however, after Facebook went down for about 20 min, soon after so did my Gmail (6) , 1 iCloud account(s). It's been hit and miss on downloading my email, however if I went to the websites I finally was able to get email. I then tried to see if my settings were correct and it appears all my passwords looked shorter than they really are. I reenter that information and voila, it's working again. Not a clue why those issues would have triggered my settings, however I know others have been complaining as well.

If they are the grey discs which came with the iMac, then they will be machine specific and will not work on the MBP anyway. You will need to purchase a retail copy of Snow Leopard from the Apple Store for about $29 and upgrade from that. I presume your MBP is Intel and not G4.

When can download CS6 upgrade version

  • Can I buy and use two upgrades?

    Hello,
have Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium. I want to upgrade the product.
Can I buy and use two upgrades: Creative Suite 6 Design Standard
and Creative Suite 6 Production Premium?
Second question: if I make my upgrade Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium (which has included, among othersAdobe Premiere Pro) to Creative Suite 6 Design Standard (which does not have Adobe Premiere Pro), will I still be able to use the applications contained in the Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium (Adobe Premiere Pro), or it will be deactivated?
    Thank you

What would you want with 2 upgrades if you have only 1 qualifying product? That's simply not possible since the upgrade serial is tied to the serial number of the previous product. Otherwise your CS5.5 will remain fully functional when you install CS6.

  • How can I upgrade CS5 to CS6?

How can I upgrade Photoshop CS5 to CS6, and cannot use CC because I would need a different operating system?

Good gracious!  Is there really still an upgrade path from CS5?  I'd have bet serious money that option finished at least a year ago.  Sounds like I would have lost the bet.
BTW  I expect those prices are still dependent on where the OP lives.  Upgrading from CS5 to CS6 cost me NZ$800 dollars when CS6 first came out.  Thankfully, price gouging is appears to be a thing of the past with CC, but I believe that only applies to NZ and Oz, and that Europe still enjoys a price hike for Adobe products.
Anyone like to clarify that for me?

  • Can't open iPhoto after using iPhoto library upgrader

I used the iPhoto library upgrader today, hoping that I could then use a newer version of iPhoto.  I have iPhoto 6.6 I think.  But now iPhoto won't open, so I can't see any of my photos.  Where can I download a newer version of iPhoto so I will be able to see my photos again?  My iMac is running OS X 10.7.5 and cannot be upgraded to a newer operating system as it is a late 2006 iMac.  Please help, I am so upset at losing all my family photos I can barely type this.

    1. Make a back up first thing.
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
    2. If you have iPhoto 6 why are you using the upgrader?

  • How can I use a file in flash cs6 that I made in flash cs5.5 air for android

I have made an app in in air for android in flash cs5.5 air for android, and I want to edit it in cs6 and play it in cs6.
But if I put Ctrl+Enter I got an error: createWin process failed with error 2: system couldn't find the file. I think the problem is that I'am using air for android 2.6 version in flash cs5.5 and version 3.2 in flash cs6. I have searched the web and found out that you can add older air versions using the sdk manager and I have tried it but first I get the error that the version of the sdk I am trying to install is not valid and after some files that I added to the sdk folder I get this error:Only SDK higher than version 3.4.2540 may be added.
I there a possible way to update the air for android for an fla or apk? Or how can I let my originally file work fine in flash cs6??

    system couldn't find the file
If you can´t get a more specific hint why your project can´t compile then I can think of some reasons theis error might occur
1.You had files included besides the swf, like videos, audio files, xml files, that are not present in the place air expects them to be
2.somewhere in your createWin functions there is a class import needed that isn`t present in 3.2 anymore, for example some classes or functions from classes that were valid in 2.6 are not any more in 3.2
    3. to achieve better eror logging, allow for debugging in the publishing options and see what specific lines in your code throw the error
4.any air app needs a cert file, this needs to be created once, if you migrated to e new system it might be you never created that file which air expects to even begin the compiling process
once you isolate the problem, report back
