Ipod touch 4 i can no longer watch movies, transferred to the ipod, on videos app it simply says loading and then stops. On my ipad mini with older ios it still works. So how can I fix this I have tried converting videos into different formats but it will not work.
Is IOS 8 really appropriate with Ipod Touch 4, if the older Ipods do not have the capability then why are we prompted to install new operating systems.
    Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all videos and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

Unfortunely, all movies and songs purchased in iTunes will be lost...you'll have to purchase them again! Any applications you've purchased, you can download again for free.

I want my songs to be in a specific order but they transfered to the ipod in alphabetical order by artist. how can  I get them in the order I want?

    Hey ellenkk
The best way to get the songs in the order that you want is to make a playlist and then sync it over. Once the playlist is set, all you have to do is set to sync playlist in the music tab.

  • How can I get my music transferred from my ipod classic back to my computer?

I have a 5th generation Ipod classic that is cracked on the surface but works still on a docking station at home in which I can select the music through my tv.  My problem is that certain music and ablums show they are on my itunes but do not play on my computer.  How can I pull the music from my ipod to my itunes so I can transfer it to a newer ipod I have now plus I want to listen to the music on my computer.

  • Can Not View Tracks On Itunes From Ipod

I have imported some podcasts onto my Ipod, but when i connect my Ipod to Itunes i can not see them.

Thanks for the posting to my question.
But the Podcasts currently on my iPod are not in my iTunes (I delete them after transferring to my iPod as I don't want to get confused which are new and which are old...).
So the problem is my inability to access my podcasts that are on my iPod as I want to delete the ones I've already listened to... If you have another guess I'd be very happy to give it a try.

  • HT1329 How can I get the songs on my iPod onto my new iTunes library?

I have an iPod that was synced to another iTunes library on another PC.  The PC died and I replaced it with a MacBook Pro but it keeps saying the iPod is synced w/ another iTunes library.  How can I get the songs on my iPod on the new iTunes library?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
    - Expod (free) - http://www.headlightsoft.com/expod/ - Mac, universal for 104.+ (newer machines try de-Tune)

  • How can i take the music off my ipod touch/iphone 3gs and put it on my itunes account without deleting the music

I have a Ipod touch and a Iphone 3gs with music that i want to put on my Iphone 4s. How can i put music from each one onto my itunes without itunes trying to delete it?????

You can transfer purchases from your iPhone and iPod touch to your computer and it will put all music, apps, books, and other purchases or downloads made in iTunes onto your computer. Or you can sign into the iTunes Store in iTunes on your computer and go to Purchases > Not on This Computer > Download all for each tab across the top.
If you have any music that was imported from CDs to your Dad's computer, you'll need to import those to your laptop. When you sync your iPhone, it will erase all the music on your iPhone and replace it with the music in your Music Library. If you have all of the music that's on your iPhone on your computer already (by importing CDs and transferring purchases) you won't lose anything.

My old computer crashed and I have a new computer. How can I save my music from my IPod to the new computer since it isn't in my Library. I don't want to sync and lose music.

Then you will need to search for a 3rd party program to transfer content

One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump andiPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
    More information is contained here.

  • I can no longer properly sync info from iPod to iTunes.  Did iTunes change?

I have always been able to sync my iPod to iTunes.  It updated number of plays, date last played, ratings, etc. from the iPod to iTunes.
I can no longer do this.  I was on the phone with Apple Support for over an hour...kept getting put on hold while the technician searched for answers...and finally a "senior advisor" told me that it's impossible for information like this to be transferred from the iPod to iTunes.  They're on "different" counting systems.  This is amazing to me, because it's worked beautifully for years, but now this won't work.  Information will transfer from iTunes to iPod, but not from iPod to iTunes.
    I don't understand what happened.

The "expert" is wrong, partially.  You must be using automatic syncing in order for iTunes to keep the "supporting data" (such as ratings and playcount) in sync.  With automatic syncing, it is iTunes's  "job" to keep the iTunes library on the computer "in sync" with the library on the iPod.  You tell iTunes to replicate either the entire iTunes library on the iPod (if it will fit) or a defined subset of the iTunes library on iPod, and iTunes keeps all data for that media content in sync between iTunes library and iPod.
However, if you use the manual method to load content (drag and drop items on the iPod in iTunes), with the Manually manage music (and videos) setting on the iPod's Summary screen, THEN the iTunes library on the Mac is separate from the library on the iPod.  iTunes just loads the media files on the iPod and then "forgets" about it.  You can delete songs on the computer, and they stay on the iPod because iTunes doesn't care.  In this case, iTunes also does not care about the supporting data, so things like ratings and playcount are not synced back to the Mac.  Afterall, that song on the iPod may not even exist in the iTunes library anymore.  It's possible that NONE of the song on the iPod are in the computer's iTunes library.

  • Can't Drag and Drop movies onto iPod

I purchased a movie from the iTunes Store, which I downloaded to my Mac. I tried drag and drop the movie onto my iPod Touch (4G), and while it showed the little 'plus' icon over my iPod, it didn't transfer the movie. I made sure I had enough room on the iPod, I tried quitting iTunes and trying again, but nothing has worked. Of course, I can download the entire movie again from the iTunes store, but that's a lengthy process. In the old days I could drag pretty much anything from the Mac to the iPod. What gives? Thanks for any help.

First of all, if you try Sync , you will get exactly the same message: *"the movie <name> has not been transferred to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."* The message means exactly what it says. You may believe that the iPod should play them, particularly as Quicktime does, but the fact remains - it won't, which is why iTunes will not transfer them.
I don't manually manage, I only use Sync and my iTunes is littered with .mov files that will not transfer to the iPod because I get that message. I wish I had cleaned up iTunes as I went along because now it's littered with stuff that doesn't work (except in iTunes or in Quicktime).
As for .mp4 files, I cannot find one (at the moment) in my iTunes that has not transferred to the iPod - do you mean .m4v? I definitely have some .m4v files which will transfer and others that don't. I assume it has something to do with the way the audio is encoded into the video.

  • Can I transfer my music from the ipod to itunes?

I was having a problem with itunes so I completely deleted it and reinstalled it, thinking that I could sync music from my ipod to the itunes library. Unfortunately, the new itunes said that my ipod was synced to a different library. So if I were to sync it now all of the contents of the new library would be on the ipod. (i.e. nothing)
My question is can I transfer the music on the ipod to the itunes library instead of the other way around?
    Sony Vaio   Windows XP

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
