Can a hacked website hack my iMac?
Hi,
Yesterday I visited a website I've visited a number of times that appears to be run from India. However, when I went on yesterday instead of the usual homepage the page was black and had the words "HACKED BY PREDATOR" and then two boxes came up which you had to click Ok on before you could leave. It did say who it was hacked by and when I googled it it was a CYBERTEAM in indonesia that has a facebook group.
I just wondered if it was possible that as I went on there for something to invade my computer?
The site today is just a website hosting page.
Thanks
Ryan
If you're running Windows, maybe; if you're not, then I'd say not - something can only "invade" your computer if it can recognize the OS or code and most hacking attempts are written to recognize Windows. As an extra precaution: when you're facing a website that will not allow you to do anything unless you click on something, simply close the entire window or, better yet, quit the browser and then open it again. You may lose your open tabs, but at least you haven't clicked anything you really didn't want to. Additionally, the Mac OS requires you to authorize any install of anything, so unless you input your password and let something install, it didn't happen. Also see this excellent article:

HT5538 Can a hacker remotely send iMessages to my contacts from my Apple devices ?
1. Can a hacker access my iMessage remotely and send messages from my Apple devices to my contacts ? This happened twice with me, despite me changing my password.
2. Can Apple security dept. trace this hacker ?
3. Is this hacking considered a system fault ?
Thank youThanks for the response! I was wondering if it would be possible to contact Apple and ask them to manually link this phone number with my Apple ID, so that I could receive messages on both? Im guessing this wouldnt be possible?

Can anyone hack gamecenter cz i think someone hacked mine
Can anyone hack gamecenter cz i think someone hacked mine. How do i fix this?
Without a bit more information - why do you think you were "hacked"? What are yo seeing? - its would be pretty difficult to suggest a "fix", beyond changing your password.

How can i hack a session if i have the cookie information?
Hi All,
I am in the process of testing an application in my organization for the security vulnerabilities.
I saw a tutorial where an attacker launches an attack and get the cookie details of the victim. Now what step is next the hacker will do to launch a successful attack, this is what i want to know.
Can anyone tell me how can i hack/replicate a session of another user (who is logged in to X application) and i have the cookie details of this logged in user?
Thanks in advance.
-Abhi.Well i am just a white hat with no intentions of stealing information at all. I am just a beginner in the field of security testing.
Also about abhi, i am not the only abhi there may be a millions of abhi.
I watched a video on XSS injection where i saw that the hacker is able to figure out the session information of the victim. The link is as below:
http://www.virtualforge.de/vmovie/xss_lesson_1/xss_selling_platform_v1.0.html
After watching this video i thought that how a hacker may be able to exploit the session information of some other user. That is why i took the path of posting in forums.
I just needed to know if i am able to find this security vulnerability in one of the applications developed in my organization. Further i would like to report this vulnerability if it existed.
Thanks,
Abhi

Okay, so I went on Twitter and some chick replies to a tweet and she sent me a tweet going like 'you guys were doin what here, looks confusing' then sends me a link. There was no tweet conversation or anything but being an idiot, I pressed the link (I was on my iPod Touch and it's 4th gen) and it got some 'time session ended' or whatever. Again, being the idiot and regretting it, I typed my Twitter username and password. Then it showed some 'cash' thing I don't even know. I searched it up, it was a phishing site and I changed my password for the third time. I hope you're still reading this because I'm very desperate for help. If I did press it, will the hacker hack my iPod too? Thanks! xx
Nope, they can't hack you iPod. The can (or could) log into your twitter account and change the password so y no longer control the site.
If you used the same password for other sites/serves change those too.
You might also want to change other information information in the twitter account like secret questions/answers since maybe they already logged into your account to steal that data and plan to use that information at a later date. -

Hosting a basic website on my iMac.
Is there any software (bundled or third party) that would allow me to host a basic website on my iMac?
If there is, can someone link me to some information regaurding setting it up?OS X is all the software you need!
Matt's right. OS X comes with the Apache web server already built in, which is very widely used, even for professional sites.
Go to System Preferences, Sharing, and tick "Personal
Web Sharing". Then place your site files in your
home/Sites folder.
You can access your site using
http://127.0.0.1
This part is a little incomplete, however. There are two places you can put your HTML documents. The first is in the main /Library/WebServer/Documents/ folder. You can find that folder by starting at the top level of your hard drive (i.e., double-click on your hard drive's name in the Finder, then "Library", then "WebServer", etc.). Sites in this folder will be visible at the address he gave. Also, http://localhost should work, too.
Secondly, you can place a web site in the "Sites" folder inside your user's Home folder. In order to access pages there, you have to add the user's name to the address. So if your user name was "wsender", you'd use this address:
http://127.0.0.1/~wsender or http://localhost/~wsender
to access your site.

Cannot get the website on my iMac to be seen on the internet
I am having trouble making the index.html file in the "Sites" folder of my home directory visible on the internet. This is just the "Your website here" page that came preinstalled with OSX 10.4.
I am not sure whether the problem lies with the Network Preference settings, with the AirPort Admin Utility settings or with my ISP.
The ISP told me that ports 80, 427 and 443 are not blocked. I pinged the DNS servers to make sure they connect.
Please have a look at the web page below. There I published screen shots of my Network hardware setup, my Network Preference settings and the AirPort Admin Utility settings.
http://web.mac.com/detlefschmitt/iWeb/Site/Network%20Setup.html
If you see any mistake I made please let me know. Any suggestions to fix this problem are welcome.I am trying to connect from outside of my network. From within the wireless network (PC#2, eMac, iMac) and from within the local lan network (PC#1, AirPort) I have no problem connecting to the website on the iMac. But connecting from outside my Network using the puplic IP I doesn't work.
I now have taken the AirPort and all the computers exept the iMac off line. Only the imac is connected via lan cable to my lan outlet in the wall. Using my new local IP address (172.16.126.246) I can of course still access the website on the imac but using the public IP address (222.228.213.117) which remained the same doesn't work. -
When I open safari I can go into websites but after a while it will shut down out of nowhere and it always comes up with this:

Click the Apple menu icon top left corner of your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update.
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.
That should bring your Mac OS X from v10.6.4 to v10.6.8 an Safari from 5.0.2 to 5.1.7 -
Can't view website comments in Safari on iPad or iPhone
On neither of my iPhones nor my iPad can I see website comments sections. They remain blank and the busy icon churns like the website is constantly updating. My wife's two iPhones both show website comments. This happens using Safari and Chrome. My Safari setting are the same as my wife's. I've tried deleting cookies and other website data, to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
As I said i've tried this on various WiFi networks with my iPad 3 and on WiFi and cellular on my iPhones 4 and 5: touching the comments button moves the screen to the comments section, but no comments are shown. On that site the comments button is grey before you press it and red afterwards, and it shows the number of comments, but the comments do not appear.
Instead when I press the comments button I get a whirling animated progress icon up beside the WiFi icon suggesting that the device is trying to download something. But the comments never load. (In previous versions of iOS and Safari there would be three lines in the comments area rapidly animated to show that someting was forthcoming, but the comments would never load.) As long as I stay on that webpage the animation continues, suggesting that the iPad is continually trying to access the comments data but unable to do so.
I've tried it with popups block in the Safari setting and popups allowed, with Javascript activated and not activated, etc. I've deleted all Safari data (cache, cookies, etc). Nothing seems to work. -
I can't seem to get my iMac (late 2009 model) into automatic sleep mode. If I manually put it into sleep I don't have any issues.
I used to solve the issue by running "PleaseSleep" application but that doesn't work anymore since Lion. I now want to fix the underlying problem.
I'm not running any weird background processes and in my energy saver settings I've tagged "put the hard disk to sleep when possible:, "allow power button to put computer to sleep" and "automatically reduce brigthness". All pretty standard.
Is there anyone who can give me some pointers ?Today I solved the same problem for my iMac running Snow Leopard. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008791#15947706. The method may help you, too.
For me it was the DynDNS Updater preventing my iMac from automatically entering sleep mode.
To my knowledge the cause of this sleep problem can only be a peripheral device or a process. So I suggest to first unplug all peripherals and test whether that's the cause. If not, I suggest to terminate one process after another and to test automatic entering of sleep mode after each. Start with user processes; continue with system process if necessary.
At least that's the way I found the offending process. Fortunately, I was able to change the configuration of that process to allow again automatic entering of sleep mode.
Good luck! -
How many different iPods can I sync with my single iMac user/iTunes account?
Good Day to All,
Can anyone tell me how many different iPods & iPhones can I successfully consistently sync/integrate using my one "user account" in iTunes on my iMac? This ist situation:
I have always (and only) synced etc. my iPhone with my one iTunes UID which is under my ONE "User Account" on my iMac. Recently, my elderly folks gave me 2 iPods they have never used. One is a little silver 4GB shuffle (the little guy with a built on "belt clip" & it verbally tells you what song and artist is playing. The other is also an iPod shuffle ( only 1GB), also has the metal "pinch to open; belt clip"; also no display, however it came with a little USB Dock and THIS ONE has all of the user controls on the face of it in a circular patter of course..
To have COMPLETE successful "interaction/integration/syncing" etc (with no issues/complications etc) with my iTunes currently and previously only used with my iPhone, do I have to create two new additional "User Login/accounts" on my iMac (one for each iPod) to have all three if my devices work perfectly fine, or can I just use my same iMac login (UID) & iTunes that I use with my iPhone and have no worries?
(ie: I created my girlfriend her own iMac login UID which she has always used for backing up/syncing etc her iPhone with HER iTunes library etc)
In short, does iTunes have the ability to have multiple iPods & my iPhone under my one existing iTunes account AND using the same single iMac login/UID I've always used with my iPhone?
Obviously, I know I could create an iMac login for my mom's, another for my dad's & create them both their individual iTunes accounts, but they really don't want to have to worry about dealing with all that. I'm teetering between just treating them as my iPods and mixing/adding their limited CD's into my library (again, if iTunes allows multiple iPods etc as explained above..
OR; my other thought would be (again, if one iTunes account can integrate the two iPods as seperate devices and to just create ONE iMac UID login and ONE iTunes account under my dad's name, and use that one account for both of their music, both of their iPods, importing their CD's into the same iTunes library, then when syncing etc. just doing selective transfers/sync's of the specific music for each iPod... Even then, will iTunes be able to differentiate the two as far as backups/restored etc? I think answering my own question as I type due to the cloud... For completely individual cloud interaction/integration, I would def need to create each of them their own iTunes accounts, otherwise they will have all of each other's songs on their devices.. (ie: And my dad def doesn't want to worry about skipping over my mom's Journey or Aerosmith tunes to get to his Willie Nelson and vice versa for example.
(Sorry sooooo drawn out; thinking outloud) I guess it seems obvious that since all their digital music has to be on my iMac, I really should create them each their own iMac UID login as well as their own individual iTunes Acounts to insure cloud services work easily for restores/backups etc...
Thanks for stumbling thru my thought processes here (if I didn't lose ya long ago); I'm exhausted and throwing thoughts at the classroom board to see what sticks.... The best easiest way that is.. (The two aren't always the same obviously!)
Thank you all for your precious time and consideration and most if all; YOUR PATIENCE!! Any confirmation if the options and suggestions are greatly appreciated. You know, gotta take care of the folks & what is the simplest for them as just end users is the most important or they'll NEVER bother with them in the end...
Respectfully appreciative,
DBYou can use as many iPods with one iTunes library as you want.

Can PC software work on the iMac G5 with Intel?
Can PC software work with the iMac G5 with Intel processor? I need to know! And also, is there a new apple computer coming out next year (2007) that will be able to run PC software? I am mainly asking because I want to know if I will be able to run PC games on iMac G5 with Intel or the new computer coming out in 2007. I need to know!
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)
iMac G5 Intel Processor Mac OS X (10.4.6)Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows XP.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & XP, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.
The Forum is at the bottom of the main Apple Discussions page under Windows Compatible Technology.
Here is a link;
Forum: Boot Camp Public Beta
Panther was the version of Mac OS X before the current version, Tiger. Apple Computer does not release information in advance of its introductions of new hardware/software and the rules of the Apple Disussions forbid "speculation." Boot Canp is Beta because it is not yet a permanent part of Mac OS X. It works fine. It does not require constant updates. It comes with instructions for its own installation as well for Windows XP SP2. You have to purchase Windows from Microsoft. Folks report that games run fine and that Windows runs better on their Macs than it ever did on their PCs!
Visit the Boot Camp forum at the above link for further info. -
