Can a homeshare member access my Match library on her iPad?

can a homeshare member access my Match library on her iPad?

Homeshare works well for the same Apple Id on the same WiFi network.  Apple likes to link any given iDevice to a particular Apple Id.

How can I store music in my remote library in my iPad library

I don't know what your remote library is so you will have to explain that one.
Music is stored in the music app and it gets into the Music app via the sync process with iTunes on your computer or direct downloads from the iTunes Store on your iPad.

  • Help; I can only synchronize parts of my iPhoto library to my iPad.

Help; I can only synchronize parts of my iPhoto library to my iPad.
When I connect my iPad to my iMac using iTunes, I am not able to synchronize all of the library. I have marked off All pictures, events etc., but it only synchronize parets of it. I have plenty of available space, so it is not that.
    Can anybody help?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • How can I listen to audiobooks in my library on my iPad with iOS8.0.02?

Sonce installing iOS8.0.02, I have been unable to sync any audiobooks in my library with my iPad. Other than "buying" the books again & downloading them direct to my iPad is there an alternative way of accessing them? ( I know I can do it through "shared" library but that is not a lot of use when I am no where near my own network.)

  • Burning friend's library to her iPad using my computer

I have a friend with an extensive CD library, an iPad, and no computer. She is moving  and cannot take her CDs.  I want to convert her CDs to digital files and load them onto her iPad (using her Apple ID) and I want to do this on my computer, which already has iTunes and my own music library on it. I have an external hard drive to store the files, where my own files are also stored. Is this possible? Can anyone give me some guidance?

If he doesn't have a computer and had no backup for his iPad he may be SOL. The entire time that the iPad has been on the market it was designed to be used in conjunction with a computer and iTunes - where all of the content should have been stored. The update to iOS 5 changes that now, but if your friend did not have a backup on a computer he may be out of luck with regard to app data, documents, settings, some saved photos, notes, calendar entries and more.
He can download all purchased content again as long as he uses the same Apple ID that he used to buy the content originally. You can also see if iTunes created a backup of his iPad contents on your computer from which you can restore his iPad. He will still have to download all apps, books, TV Shows, and music again. If he bought any movies, he will have to buy those again, they are not available as free downloads.
Launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit>Prefernces>Devices and see if there is a backup of his iPad on your computer and start there.
But for the most part, your friend will have to start all over again - erasing all of your content - downloading all of his content - and then setting his iPad up again from scratch.

  • Can I download my entire iTunes Match library to a new computer?

My iTunes library is a mess in short.  It's been switched back and forth over the years from mac to pc and is now currently sitting on an external drive.  I've clearly done a terrible job of this because I now see a different collection of music/videos/tv shows dependant on whichever device I use (currently PC/Macbook/iPad/iPhone).  The upshot is, I want to phase out my PC completely, have my Macbook as my primary device and have a backup of my iTunes library on the external drive once I've been able to format it accordingly (currently NTFS).
Would I be correct in assuming I can use iTunes Match to achieve this, with the added facility of being able to stream my whole collection from any other device as well?

  • HT4914 Why can I not update my iTunes Match subscription from my iPad? Must I access from a PC?

I have been getting emails syaing my iTunes Match subscription will expire soon and if I do not renew I will not be able to access my music on iCloud. Also, it says I cannot update my account from an iOS device. But I no longer have iTunes installed on a PC - I only access from an iPad or iPhone. What can I do?

I always get an error message "Cannot update iOS software" or something to that effect everytime I try. I've tried plugging my iPad to my laptop computer and then my computer directly to internet connection (we have a router that allows WiFi access, so I thought I'd try to bypass the router instead), but this did not work.  I've tried restoring my iPad via connected to my computer through iTunes, that worked for a short time and was able to update the apps I wanted, but soon after one of the apps stopped working properly, and then the apps I wanted to get from the App Store just wouldn't install or load...Instead they would be having "Waiting..." for the longest time until I give up and delete them. I've tried restarting my iPad, no luck either.  I've also gone through the Reset process of "Erase All Content and Settings" i.e., Restore, and like mentioned above, it worked for a little while then it went back to square one, as I mentioned a sentence or two previously.
I've no idea what is going on, why it's not working, or anything.  I just wonder if it's got anything to do with a slow internet connection (we don't have high-speed internet access), or something else I haven't found that may be just under my nose.
I would love some help and input into my situation, all and any ways which allow me to keep my current iPad (which is the New Generation one), not having to trash it and replace it with a new one.
Have you tried to restore as a new device? Maybe a glitch exists on the restored backup, try this:

  • Can a family member access my info with known passwords from a different phone or computer "spying"

I was just wondering if somebody can access my personal info including web searches, emails, text messages, contact info, recent calls and photos and vioedo just about every thing done on your iPhone and PC. If they are the on accouts. I think they have my passwords.

I'm not sure if the iPhoto for iOS forum is the right place for your question, but if someone knows your name and password on any computer they can certainly look at all your stuff. If you're using Safari you can turn on "private browsing" and it won't keep track of sites you've visited.

  • How do I share the Photo Library on my desktop with another User. I have Apoerture set up on my wife's user account but cannot figure out how to access the photo library from her desktop.

I just got a new IMac. I transferred all the photos from our old PC to the Aperture Library on my User account. My wife is set up as another User. She can access Aperture from her User account but there are no photos in the Library. How can I share or giver her access to the photos so that she can work with them on Aperture from her User account?

Move the Aperture library to separate disk or disk partition with plenty of space for all your photos. On a separate disk or partition it will be possible to set the "Ignore ownership on this volume" flag. Then two users can write to the same Aperture library without permission problems.
The procedure is describe here for iPhoto libraries, but this will work for Aperture libraries as well:
iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users
If you want to use a drive for your Aperture library, that has been used with a PC, format it for Mac, before you move the Aperture library there. This can be done with Disk Utility.

  • My shared iTunes library shows up fine on my Apple TV, but when I try to access the same library on my iPad to view the shared TV Shows everything jumbled and all over the place. There does not seem to be any order and many shows are missing.

When trying to access the shared iTunes library of my Macbook Pro on my iPad(iOS 5.1) the TV Shows are all mixed up. Some shows are not even displayed. The same library display normally via my Apple TV. It appears that iPad using iOS 5 has lost the ability to recoginize that TV Shows have a main show title followed by a number of episodes eg., 'Top Gear', Season 17, Episode 1 to 6, and 'Modern Marvels', Vol lll, Episodes 1 to 16. This has to be a glitch with iOS 5 as it was working fine in previous OS versions.
Does anyone know if Apple is aware of this anomally or is there a work-around? Thanks

Perhaps you should ask over in the iPad community, you may get better answers there.
It's actually my fault that psoon ended up here ... s/he intially posted over at Home Sharing, and I tried a relocate request to Apple TV rather than iPad.

  • Can I manage an externally stored iTunes library with an iPad?

    Hi all,
To give a better idea of my situation, here's a bit of information about the problem I have.
I currently have two Windows 7 machines, a laptop that's seen better days and a desktop which I am looking to get rid of because of space. I have an iPod Touch 32GB and will soon be getting an iPhone 4/5 (depending on release date) also.
My iTunes is currently stored and managed on my desktop PC. I have a fairly large music library, consisting of about 20-25gb of music. I only have one or two songs that were purchased through iTunes, all of the others have been imported from CD's.
As mentioned above, I am looking to get rid of my PC and my laptop doesn't have a large enough hard drive to manage my music as well as an OS and programs. I am very interested in buying a 16GB WiFi only iPad 2, as almost all of what I require a computer for is browsing the web, banking and the odd spreadsheet/document. The iPad would be a golden solution for me if I was able to manage my music with it.
Does anybody know if there is a way for me to store my music library on an external hard drive (or last resort, a file server) and run iTunes directly off the iPad, so I would connect my iPod/iPhone to the iPad with the external hard drive attached and syncing would be possible?
I hope I have explained my situation well enough, and thank you in advance for any assistance I receive. You help is greatly appreciated!
    Regards

    lkrupp,
thank s for filling in the details on iCloud, missed the fact the song needs to already be in the iTunes library first.
As for itunes on the home network, I was reffering to his desktop/Laptop PCs not the iPad but I neglected to state it. with Current iOS he will need a tethered computer to sync his I tunes. are you aware if iOS5 will allow external connections to data storage (I think I remember someting about that in one of the previews I read) since the new iOS wants to be teather free and "lose the wire" similar to dropbox type technology.
    its all still so new.

  • I have a family member passed away and cannot unlock her iPad mini

I have a family member that passed away and left behind an iPad mini. No one in the family knows her iTunes password and it doesn't look like she synced it with a computer. Is there any way to erase and re-set it? We tried recovering the password on Apple's website but do not know the answers to her security questions.

    Hey there Toni,
It sounds like you are needing to unlock this iPad but the passcode is unknown. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. According to the following article you should use recovery mode to restore the iPad and be able to use it. The caveat to this is that it will delete all the data on the iPad.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    Use recovery mode
Follow these steps if you never synced your device with iTunes, if you don't have Find My iPhone set up, or if you can't get to your own computer. You'll need to put your device in recovery mode, which will erase the device and its passcode. Then you'll restore your device as new or from a backup.
Disconnect all cables from your device.
    Turn off your device.
Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
Click OK, then restore the device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
