Can a hyperlink open in a new window in the latest Pages

I am creating hyperlinks in a Pages doc, and exporting as a pdf to sell as an ebook. I have yet to see a way of when creating a link to a web page setting it to open in a new window if they have the pdf opened in a browser. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, no Pages version has a link inspector/editor that enables the use of HTML attributes, in this case, target="_blank";  that would open the link in a new page (or tab).

    how can i make my hyperlinks open in a new window or tab?

    The program is InDesign… we need to cease links which will open the linked document in a separate window.  Also, the links must be maintained once a pdf is made and the files moved to another computer….

  • The wheel click button does not open a new window since the latest update (9.0.1)

    Hi
    I just want to report this bug in hope it will be fixed asap
    The wheel click button does not open a new window since the latest update (9.0.1)
    Thank you

    Middle-click or click the scroll-wheel on a hyperlink has always opened a '''new Tab'''. Any chance you had an add-on that changed that action, and now that add-on is disabled or incompatible?

  • Even though set to open to home page, Firefox always opens in a new tab and to the previous tabs. All settings seem correct. I just want it to open in a new window to my home page

    I cannot open Firefox in a clean new window to the home page. Options are set to open to home page and open new window in new tab is deselected. I do not want my history coming up every time I open. All new pages come up in a new tab with the existing one staying put.

    This happens when I have multiple windows open. I have one window minimized on the task bar. I then launch a new firefox window and start surfing, opening multiple tabs in that window. Then I close that window. (My original window is still minimized in the taskbar). Now, I launch a new firefox window and the tabs that I had opened in the window I had just closed are all back.
    If I close all windows and then launch firefox, it goes to my home page.
    FYI, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

  • Hyperlink does not open new window on the second page

    Hi,
    I have a report which shows list of products. Every product id has hyperlink to show details. When I click on any hyperlink on the first page, it opens in new window and looks good. But the hyperlink from the second page opens in the same window and overwrites main report.
    I am not sh=ure what is happening?
    Does anybody come across such problem and have the solution?
    Thank you.
    Julia

    Hi Julia,
    This is the way to resolve the issue in BO XI 3.1 SP3 :
    Open the existing Crystal Report in the Crystal Reports Designer
    Edit the formula which was created in the above step and replace sWindow=New with "target=_blank" as follows:
    a href="http://<servername>:<port>/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sDocName=Drilldown" target="_blank"> MyTest </a>
    Save this formula and save the report as well
    Log onto the BusinessObjects Server box and modify the web.xml file located in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\CrystalReports\WEB-INF by adding the following code in it:
    <context-param>
          <param-name>
                    crystal_encode_html_for_single_line_field_objects
          </param-name>
         <param-value>no</param-value>
    </context-param>
    5. Save this file
    6. Restart the application server (Tomcat)
    7. Now, when you open the report in InfoView and click on the hyperlink, the target report should open in a new window.

  • In InDesign CS6, can we now make the hyperlinks open in a new window?

    With InDesign CS5, we could link outside the document using a PDF exported file, but when customers clicked on the hperlink, it opened a window on top of the pdf file which meant that the customers had to hit their back button and scroll down the pdf file to find the page they were on again.
    Do you know if the InDesign CS6 has added an option that allows the hyperlinks to open in a "blank" window?
    Thanks for your help!
    Brigitte

    There is no such option in InDesign CS6. It has to be accomplished in Acrobat by use of a JavaScript, as I recall. You should ask in the Acrobat forums for more informations.

  • How can I embed a PDF in my Captivate 5.5 project that will open in a new window when the user click

    I put a glossary button in my project. When the user clicks on the button, I want the file to open in a new browser window. This works in preview mode, but not when I publish it. What am I doing wrong?

    I've tried the download three times. It reports that installation was successful, but when I use Firefox I still get only an option to download the .pdf; I still can't read it within the browser. This fix WAS for Firefox 5.0, right?

  • When I click on a link, it opens in a new window but the window is BLANK and I can't type anything. I have firefox 3.5.2

    when I click on a link to open something in a new window, it opens a new window but it's blank!!! it's driving me nuts and I did update Firefox, but since I thought that was the problem I decided to install an older version of Firefox instead. please help!!!

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    There are other things that need attention.
    Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks that you should update.

  • How do I link a reference point in one PDF to a specific page in a different PDF? I want it to open link in a new window AT the specific page.

    I have a paper with multiple reference points that I need to link to 3 other pdfs. Each time I create a link in the master PDF, I need to open a file in a new window and point to a specific page in the other pdf. I cannot get it to work.

    Hmmmm, just tried that and used the magnify glass to capture the specific page in the second pdf, but when I tried the link, it doesn't open a new window, it sits within the original pdf and I can't go back to the page I need to. What am I missing/

  • Why can't i open my document?  I have the latest version but it is telling me I need the latest version.

    I have Pages, created a document in it LAST NIGHT and today it will not open, advising that I need to have the latest version of Pages to open.  I have the latest version and it STILL won't open!  Help!  Thanks!

    You leave us to guess what you think is the "latest version".
    You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
    Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
    Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
    You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
    Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
    Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
    Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
    Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
    All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
    Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
    Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • When I'm on my forum and click the banner to go back to the home page, it opens up a new tab of the home page instead of staying in the same tab; how do I fix this? :S

    http://www.sbcforums.com/forums/
    It's EXTREMELY annoying. >.>

    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of instability and poor performance. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions -- they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    Reboot as usual (not in safe mode) if you haven't already done so. Launch the Terminal application, copy or drag -- do not type -- the line of text below into the window, and press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 $7 } '
    Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
    Next, do the same thing with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|com\.vix|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
    That's one line, not two. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Next, this command:
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
    Again, one line. Finally, one more:
    ls -1A {,/}Library/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,La,Mail/B,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Se,Sta}* 2> /dev/null
    Remember, this is all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Editing swfobject.js code so hyperlinks inside the flash widget open in a new window

    0down votefavorite
    I have a flash calendar widget (code shown directly below) and I do not have access to anything other than the compiled .swf file (no access to .fla).
    The widget contains some hyperlinks to other websites, these links are dynamic and changes based on a number of things.
    There is also a corresponding swfobject.js file that is used to add functionality to the flash widget. The swfobject.js code is shown further down this post.
    Currently, the way the code is now, when I click any of the hyperlinks that are available to me in the widget, the destination website that hyperlink takes me to opens in THE SAME PAGE as the flash widget which is a big problem.
    I need to edit the code below so that any hyperlinks that are clicked inside of the flash widget open in a brand new browser window and do not take the user away from the original widget other than opening a new page with new content.
    Because the hyperlinks that are available are always changing, the swfobject code below uses some functions and parameters.
    I am hoping you can show me exactly what code I must insert, and exactly where I must insert it, in order to alter the behavior that happens so that when a user clicks one of the hyperlinks inside the flash widget, so that the content at the other end of the hyperlink opens in a new window, instead of opening in the same window.
    See code below.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide

    In that case, I will have no choice but to decompile the .swf to get the .fla because the original .fla is un-obtainable. Unless there is a way to edit the contents of the .swf file without decompiling it.
    I can see the code inside via various decompile tools and it seems that I would need to add the equivalent of <src target=_blank> to some of the lines I have shown below.
    obj_xml.load(appurl + "loadconfig.aspx?calendarid=" + calendarid);  -- need to edit this so it opens in a new window using something similar to target = _blank
    dest_page = appurl + "default.aspx"; -- need to edit this so it opens in a new window using something similar to target = _blank
    I know a lot of decompile tools can get you the code and the .fla but once you edit and re-compile and attempt to replace the original with the new & updated file, the decompiler did not necessarily generate the properly formatted flash pro project file, so compiling it back into an operational .swf often ends in failure.
    Do you know or can you recommend a tool that has a very good track record of re-compiling the decompiled modified.fla into a workable and usable .swf?

  • Can I program my hyperlinks to target a new window?

    When exporting interactive pdf files from InDesign, my hyperlinks target the same window and permanently direct my readers away from my pdf. Can I program my hyperlinks to target a new window? The reader must constantly hit the back button in order to not lose my pdf on their browser. I do not like this and have looked for ways to tell my hyperlinks to target a new window. I have not been able to find a way thus far and I have been creating my newsletters as interactive pdf files in InDesign for over 3 years. I kept hoping with each upgrade (CS4 to CS5 to CS6 to CC) that I would see an improvement to the hyperlinks and buttons pallets. However, not much has changed here since CS4. Please correct me if I am wrong. And please share if this had already been made possible. In my newsletters, I hyperlink images as well as selected text, to external URLs.
    Side note: This was less of a problem when I emailed the pdf files directly to my contacts using Outlook. In the last year and a half, I have been using an email service provider to better track my open rates, etc. I give my interactive pdf files to my developer to put up on my company website. He provides me with a URL for my email template. So, when readers click the link to read the full newsletter (pdf) they are viewing it in a browser. I also print my newsletter. So, keeping with InDesign to be able to output my files for print and as interactive pdfs is ideal. I have not yet considered creating my newsletters in html at this point. Please feel free to make suggestions.

    Acrobat Pro has the power to add features which can't be accomplished within the interface.
