Can a Keynote presentation be password protected

I was wondering if I can password protect a presentation that has text and a slide show be password protected ?
Thanks,
Greg

Not from within the iWork applications. Use an encrypted disk image or a third-party method. Placing the password in the keychain will automatically unlock the image when your Mac OS X account is active.

  • Can I create a login/password protection in Muse for a HTML5 page or two?

    Hi,
I'm new to Muse.  Can I create a login/password protection for
one of my pages in Muse?
    thanks,

PASSWORD PROTECTING A PAGE WITH A NICE BOX DESIGNED INTO YOUR PAGE
FINALLY, I'VE FOUND AN ANSWER TO PASSWORDING A PAGE OR SECTION WITH ADOBE MUSE WITH GREAT SIMPLICITY AND ALLOWING YOU TO 'DESIGN' THE PASSWORD BOX INTO YOUR PAGE!!!
Even better is that you don't HAVE to have username AND password (although you could if you wanted to), so just a simple PASSWORD box and enter button DESIGNED BY YOU WITHIN YOUR PAGE, rather than nasty popups etc.  Importantly, the password itself is NOT within the source code of your page either!!
The solution is at Jotform.com. I believe you can do this with a FREE ACCOUNT, although it's SUCH a great service for Musers that I paid for a proper account.
Before you do this, create a page on your site saying "Wrong Password. Please go away" or something to that effect. You'll need it for when they enter the wrong password.
So, in Jotform, you just create a new form and:
    1. Drag on a password box (it's in the power tools section)
    2. Select it and go to Conditions
    3. Go to Change Thank You URL after submission
    4. Enter: If [name of your password box] field EQUALS TO [enter your password]
    5. In the "Then redirect to" box, enter the URL of your protected page and click save
    6. In the resulting box click "ADD A NEW CONDITION" and do the SAME as stets 3 to 5 but this time say NOT EQUALS TO" with your same password and in the "Then redirect to" box, enter the URL of your WRONG PASSWORD page and click save
    7. Embed the button on your page and you're done!!!
If you want to mess about with the EXACT alignment of a right aligned button and text box, you can go to Preferences and in the box which allows you to add your own custom CSS, enter the following code and mess about with the values until it's perfect for you:
    .form-buttons-wrapper { padding-top:3px !important; }#id_2 {margin-left: -50px !important;}
Here's an example, built in Muse: www.hileytv.com/about.html
I hope this helps my fellow Musers!

  • Can I set up a password protected webpage within my site? CS4

Can I set up a password protected webpage within my site? I'm using CS4 and would like to create an orphaned page for internal use only.  Is there any way you can set up a password protect on one page within an otherwise public website?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

The simplest way to achieve this would be to enable password protection for a certain subdirectory by using .htaccess. As long as you / your provider is using apache as web server this can be setup within minutes, all you need is a ftp client (plenty of freeware ones out there),
and here's a tutorial on how to do it: http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess3.shtml Google will list many more if you search for "htaccess password"
Or, send your provider an email, he might be willing to do it for you, maybe even for free, since it doesnt take more than 5 minutes to set up.

  • Why can't I save my password protected file in a password protected folder?

I've just encrypted my folder which contains password protected files. I've attempted to save a new password protected file (Word document) but have had to save it to my desktop because when I try to save the file to the folder I receive a message: "Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full [which it is not] or write-protected [which it is]". Sooooooo. Does this mean I can only password protect the folder and not the files? Which is really annoying because I really do need the two levels of security. Please can someone help?

File Vault is not in Disk Utility.  It is in System Preferences/Security/FileVault.

  • Can time machine files be password protected?

My college-aged daughter has a Macbook Pro and a portable external hard drive (Mini-G) that she uses as a back up drive with Time Machine. I am concerned that if she lost her external drive or if it were stolen, the files on the drive would be accessible to anyone (I can get to them with my MBP). The computer itself is password protected but the back up drive is not. Does anyone know how I can password-protect the drive or do something else for security?
    Thanks

the mac way to do this is to enable filevault on her home directory. then the home directory will be kept in an encrypted disk image which nobody can open without a password. same will be true for the backups of that home directory on the TM drive. but filevault has some unpleasant limitations for TM. you can't use TM interface to restore files ina filevaulted home directory and it's only backed up when you log out.
the only other option is to use full disk encryption like PGP.
I think it works with Time machine but I'm really not sure on this.

  • How can you set up a password protected folder in OSX 10.8.2

I'm trying to set up password protected folder on a new mac desktop. Version 10.8.2
I have done this before in Mountain Lion and previous OS versions by creating a "Disk Image" in the disk utitlity. It's been easy. But in this newer version, it doesn't give me the same options that I've seen in the past nor see on many online posts. And when I try to create, it just gives me an error message saying there is not enough space, which is crazy as there is over 500GB open.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

It still works in Disk Utility (DU):
    1. Determine one file that shall be inside the DMG, e.g. one on the Desktop (obviously, you can delete it later again). say it's xyz.jpg.
    2. In DU, without a drive selected, click New Image.
    3. Expand to Finder-like view by clicking on the arrow next to Save As.
    4. Click on xyz.jpg, even if greyed out. It will show up under Save As with the .dmg suffix.
    5. In the bottom part, select Name, Size, and all other parameters. You want encryption, so pick one, then click Create.
    6. Next, enter and remember your password. Probably you will NOT want it to be remembered in Keychain...
    7. That's it: at the same location as xyz.jpg you now have xyz.dmg. In the Finder it's open, and you can manage its content until you eject it.

  • Can I disable WiFi or password protect Safari on my teenagers iPhone?

My 14 year old daughter has discovered MySpace! Not allowed in our home. We password protected our home iMac and had AT&T disable the EDGE data feature on her iPhone but she's using WiFi (on the iPhone, at home) to get to get around our efforts.
So my question is is there a way to password protect Safari on the iPhone? Just turning off the WiFi won't work because she knows how to turn it back on.

Do you not want her to have access to just MySpace, or the internet in general? If it is the Internet, you could block the iPhones MAC on the router. However, I question why you got her the iPhone in the first place. MySpace is a bit iffy, Facebook, less, but still iffy. I am 18 myself, so I know a bit how it is, having grown up in the time MySpace has grown in popularity. I really would hate to give out parenting advice as I am far from being one. Take it as more of advice from somebody who finally appreciates the restrictions my parents placed on me when I was that age.
While blocking is good, it is also very important to teach them safety. Like many people have said, kids are devious, they will find a way. If her friends are on MySpace, she will find a way. Trust me, schools blocking it doesn't even help is stopping it. Teach online safety. One thing I have heard is allowing them to be on MySpace, but making them ad YOU as a friend allowing you to somewhat monitor who they friend and such. Someone also mentioned that fact that Version 2.0 is supposed to have Parental Controls. I would assume that would allow the things you have described. We can only hope they port from Leopard and allow times and such to be added.
Quick question, do YOU have an iPhone?

  • Any user can unlock any other user password protected screen?

    Major problem I'm having...!
On my Macbook Air - both myself and my wife can unlock each others password protected screen saver?
Surely this shouldn't be the case...?
We are both admin - but I would of assumed each could only unlock it's own user password protected screen saver.
    Any help would be appreciated.

..."That doesn't make sense...as the login window is available from that password protected screensaver also..."...
The option to switch to the loginwindow only appears if the "Fast User Switching" GUI is enabled in the "Accounts" pref pane. If that option were to be disabled and eg. a user on a shared computer went home without logging out, in the absence of "admin" access, that computer would be entirely unusable to other users short of pulling the plug, which might interrupt any background operations in progress.
I suppose the behaviour could be alterred depending on the "FUS" status, but really, what would be the point since, as you acknowledge, an "admin" user ultimately has the ability to access an open session anyway?
For reference, note that "admin" users, in addition to the "session owner" are granted the right to unlock the screen in the "/private/etc/authorization" file under the 'system.login.screensaver' key so the behaviour can be adjusted from there.

  • Can Live View work with password protected pages?

I tried to open a page in Live View that when opened in a regular browser would bring up a login prompt (We use Siteminder based on realms).  So the realm is protected and it should prompt me for a username and password.  But in Live View I don't get the username/password prompt, I just get a 401 Access Denied error.  Can this work with Live View?

    I'm using Numbers version 3.2.2.
Suddenly I cannot access my password protected Numbers file with the correct password. I have the correct password written down so I know I haven't made a mistake.
The response box that pops up says that the file cannot be opened. There are no other options for me to choose from.

Also, I tried to open it through an older version of Numbers but it sent this error message.

  • Can't open other's password protected documents

I'm not sure if this is some mutant windows thing, or what...
If someone in my workgroup (i.e. sitting five feet from me) saves a document in Adobe Acrobat 7.0 with a password, I cannot supply the password and edit it in  Illustrator cs4 or Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
I have the correct password, and this is an ongoing problem with many different documents.
Usually an .ai file is saved as a .pdf, then combined with a cover sheet and password in Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
I cannot un-password other's password protected .pdf files.

I'm pretty sure there are updates for that version

  • Windows XP User Can't Log in to Password Protected iWeb Site

Does anyone have advice for this problem? I have consistently been able to access my .Mac account from all PC browsers I can think of from my work computer (MSN, IE, Opera, Firefox). My mother-in-law uses a PC as well and she's had no trouble logging in. My wife uses a Dell at work and she's never had an issue.
An Aunt, however, cannot seem to get past the Username and Password identification screen when she tries to log in on a Windows XP system in Internet Explorer. Everytime she enters the correct User and Pass (and also in the right case, I checked), the pop-up just reloads. My understanding is that she has tried to do it multiple times in a row and still nothing.
Any takers? I am stumped. My best guess is something in the IE options for internet security is checked or unchecked. She is at a work that will not allow her to download and run other browsers, so it has to be IE.
If anyone knows the solution to this, I would be pretty grateful.
    Thanks!

I have the same problem here with a friend, that cannot access to the site and it works on my Windows XP-PC with IE 7 and Firefox 2. Really strange.
