Additionally you could contact an Toshiba authorized service provider in your country to order such part.

  • How can I connect my existing firewire drives to the "new" Macbook pro

I'm thinking about getting a new Macbook Pro, to take on the road.
I already have four external drives with firewire and USB 2.0 ports.
After I looked at the new machine I noticed it only had USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports.
I dont see any Firewire to Thunderbolt technology out there nor do I see any  USB3.0 to anything technology. How can I connect my drives to the new system?

You can use the USB3 connections for USB2.  That's downward compatible.  Just runs at USB2 speed.
Just this week apple announced a couple of TB adapters, TB-to-ethernet and TB-to-firewire.  But the FW adapter is not at the apple store as yet (at least at the time I am posting this).

  • Can I put a 7200 rpm drive in a 13" MacBook Pro?

I'd like to upgrade my daughter's 13" MacBook Pro after she buys it to a 500GB 7,200 rpm hard drive. Apple only offers a 5,400 rpm drive as an upgrade. Any technical issues keeping me from going to a faster drive? Is the drive in a new 13" MacBook Pro easily accessible for swapping out? Best to ask before I buy.
    Thanks.

Yes, you can put a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 in there. It's considered a user-replaceable item, and there are instructions in the manual.

  • How do you get a jump drive to work on MacBook pro?

I have a new MacBook pro and I am trying to access work from a jump drive and my computer is not recognizing the drive. Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong or how to fix it? Thanks!

Have you tried the other USB port? Do you have any other USB drive to connect to see if the port is not working? When the jump drive is connected open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. Is the drive listed in the DU sidebar?

  • Hitachi X500 external hard drive not working with MacBook Pro

I purchased a new Hitachi X500 500GB external USB hard drive today and when I plug it into my MacBook Pro the drive makes a clicking noise and never mounts. When I try it on my wives MacBook it boots up fine. I bought one early in the day and the same thing happened, so I returned it and got a new one and the same thing happens. Any thoughts?
Looks like it's formatted with Fat32 when I look at it on the MacBook.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Does the external drive have it's own power brick? If not, it's bus-powered and may not be getting enough juice to run.
Also try all the USB ports on your MBP. Although they are "supposed" to be producing the same amount of power, posts around here suggest that's not always the case.
If the drive does not have a power brick, you can get an inexpensive powered USB hub (it has a power brick) like this one:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Belkin/F5U403P/
Adding a powered hub fixes problems with bus-powered USb external drives about 95% of the time.

  • Thunderbolt 2 external hard drive not working with Macbook Pro (early 2011)

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I hope you guys can help me with this:
I've recently bought an external hard drive that works on Thunderbolt 2 (LaCie d2 3TB). When I connect the new drive to my Macbook Pro through the thunderbolt port, the drive isn't recognized. However, the drive works fine through a USB connection.
I thought that Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are compatible, however this doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe it's because the OS X / driver / firmware version that I'm working on that is not updated? I work on an early 2011 Macbook Pro: OS X Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
Thank you very much for your help!
    Daniel

    Hi danielsh6,
I recently bought the new Lacie Thunderbolt 2 D2 3TB and I had the same problem as you, i have a macbook pro early 2011, those support thunderbolt but many times there is a bug that doesn't let you connect any thunderbolt drives to your computer. The solution I found was installing this update:
    Thunderbolt Firmware Update v1.0
Before doing this I would recommend you updating to mountain lion (not yosemite yet as there is still some glitches and more on preview's macbook pro's).
    Hope this helped!

  • USB drives not working on Macbook Pro

I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro and both USB drives are currently not working. All storage devices work in my other Mac, just not in this one. They do not show up in disk utility or anything. I've attached a screenshot of the system profiler information, because when compared to my other Mac it doesn't show as many USB ports. Please Help, Justin

Hi i'm also having the same problem (Macbook pro late 2011). I have a back-up hard drive that will not connect to my usb either. I have done a PRAM & SMC reboot and neither worked. I read another post that said to erase the usb & retry connecting, but that's not really an option for me as this is the back-up of my entire disk + extra materials (I'm a medical student). I need the data off my hard drive urgently! It was working this morning and now it's not.
Mine does show up in disk utility, but I can't access anything on it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • I need help getting LG portable super multi drive GP 10 to work with imac

I have just purchased the LG GP10 dvd writer. How does one install the software? The software disc it comes with is for a pc. I am using Lion 10.7 on an imac desktop.
Where does one download software to make it mac compatable. The box the device comes in says it is Mac compatable, but the device only reads discs for playback. I want to burn files onto dvd rom.

I don't have an LG, but have had an external LaCie burner for years. First, there shouldn't be any need for software unless you want to add some burn software (such as Roxio Toast); I use either iDVD (for movies), iTunes (for music), or Toast (for either). You can also use iPhoto (I don't use it so I don't know all its capabilities).
In any case, my burner does not show up on the desktop. However, once I insert a DVD, that icon will show up - that means your Mac knows the burner is available. You have to set the CD & DVD preference pane (System Preferences) to show them on the desktop.
So what kinds of files do you want to burn? If it's just data, follow den.thed's advice - if your DVD is showing on the desktop and it's just files/folders, you should be able to drag those onto the icon as well (or use the burn folder) and burn using Finder and/or Disk Utility. Movies, slideshows - videos of any kind - need encoding/burn software (such as iDVD, iTunes, Toast).

  • Can I replace a failed hard drive on mid 2009 MacBook Pro with 1tb ssd +hdd?

    Any help?

    You might be able to.
Check either Macsales.com or iFixit.com for guides of how to add a second drive to your 2009 MBP.
I know that the SSD needs to be placed in current HDD bay and the HDD needs to be placed in the optical drive bay. So you would need a dual drive kit from either of the places mentioned above.

How can I get my LG portable super multi disk drive to install or operate. Help.

    Hello, which exact model?
Is it only Bus powered, no A/C adapter?
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>USB, what all shows when it's plugged in?

  • Sat Pro L10 DVD Super Multi Drive

I have a new Satellite Pro L10 with DVD Super Multi Drive running XP Pro. I have not been able to write to the DVD drive - either it does not recognise the DVD in the drive or it blue screens and crashes when I am using the Windows Back-up facility before I can read the error message. I am now getting very nervous as I have not been able to back it up for the 6 weeks I have had it....
I can play pre-recorded DVDs (i.e. movies) in the drive and it can read Cds and some makes of DVD. The manual is singularly unhelpful on how to use/troubleshoot the Super Multi drive

    HI Christine,
Unfortunately not. The Toshiba specification for the L10 simply states that Sonic RecordNow and WinDVD Creator are supplied as bundled software.
    The only options are :-
    1. The software is pre-installed on the hard drive,
    2. The software is provided on the Toshiba tools & Utilities CD
    3. The software is provided on OEM CDs.
Toshiba use a combination of the above three methods depending upon which model of notebook is purchased. On some models item #2 is not supplied but has to be created by the purchaser.
When I bought my A30 it used a combination of #2 and #3 for the bundled software, with Drag'N'drop CD being supplied on the tools and utilities CD but with Microsoft Works and Onenote supplied on OEM CDs. Everything else was pre-installed oin the HD.
It seems strange that you have neither Sonic or Windvd Creator on you system.
It may be worth checking with the people where you purchased your notebook to ensure that they supplied all the necessary bits and pieces.
Sorry I can't be any more helpful but it is very unlikely that both products have been accidently deleted from the system, so the real issue is to locate the original source for them.
    regards,

  • T61 no longer recognizes DVD super-multi drive

My T61 for some reason has stopped recognizing my DVD super-multi drive (GSA-U10N).  I do not use the optical drive often, so I am not sure when during the past couple of months this occured.  I have tried finding it using Lenovo System Toolbox and Device Manager.  I have tried restarting.  I have tried physically removing the drive and putting it back in.  No matter what I try, my T61 says that there is no optical drive.  The little green light next to the drive slot remains on all the time.
My T61 is a 7662 CTO, Core 2 Duo T7500, 4 GB ram, 100 GB HD, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M running Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, SP2.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you should try to run a linux live cd, and see whether the drive is detected. If it is not, then either the cd drive or the motherboard is having a hardware problem.

  • Super multi drive trouble

I have a Toshiba N210 netbook and purchased a Toshiba External super multi drive to load programs on it. I have used it before with no problems but recently when I try to plug it in it says that the USB device has exceeded power output of USB port and needs to be unplugged and I have to reset the port. What's up with this?
Thanks for your time and assistance  Bob

You have to ask - insist them to escalate your complaint, the escalate rep should be able to work something out for you
or get your money back a new laptop should not have any problems. Remember you only have 15 days to return it.
