  • Does Thunder bolt port in mac mini support video and audio

Please let me know thunderbolt or mini display port in mac mini does support voice and video. If I connect this Thunderbolt port to a TV using the mini display port to HDMI cable, will I get both audio and video in TV.

It depends on the model of Mac mini. If you have the new shape Mac mini - the one with the black circular plastic disk on the bottom, then yes. It can support sending audio and video to a suitable Displayport or Mini Displayport monitor, and it can also support sending audio and video together via HDMI using the built-in HDMI port.
Older Mac minis do not support this even with a Mini Displayport to HDMI adaptor. The nearest you can get is an adaptor like the KanexLive iAdapt 51 which takes the audio from the speaker out and the video from the Mini Displayport and then combines them to send over HDMI.

  • Can New mac mini supports SATA III harddisk?

The new mac mini is used "Hitachi HTS545050B9A302" as harddrive.  I don't know it is a SATA II or SATA III harddisk.
    Can anyone tell me.
    Thanks.

Apple are likely to use different batches and makes even in the same model Mac. However I believe the above Hitachi drive to be a SATA II which is 3.0Gbps.
You should not pay too much attention to that however. Not only is this only a 5400 rpm drive (slow) but any single physical hard disk cannot come even close to fully loading a SATA interface. You only need to worry about this if you get a SSD drive and even then you might need to have a RAID0 stripped array to merit a SATA III 6.0Gbps interface.

  • When were the first Mac Mini's made with two video outputs?

I'm thinking of getting a used Mac mini but it must have two video outputs, not mirrored.  When were the first ones made?  And what sort of processor did they have?

One last question.  Will the 2009 Mac Mini support  1366 x 768 resolution?  My other resolution is 1920 x 1080 and I'm pretty sure it supports that, but what abot the 1366 x 768?

  • HT4534 Mac Mini HD Video Conferencing

I am considering purchase of a mac-mini for video conferencing.  This article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4534?viewlocale=en_US) refers to "built in camera".  Of course, the mac-mini has no built in camera.  I would be using my HDTV for a monitor.  Can I use the Logitech c910 & the mini for HD Facetime?

I also have a mac mini and am using the Logitech C920.  At the beggining, I had issues with its built in mics not working with FaceTime, but I found a solution for the problem and now all the programs that interface with the camera work great (FT, Skype, iMovie, etc).  If you do buy the C920 run into the same issue that I had with the mic not working, here is the quick solution for the problem:
Cause of Problem:  The Logitech C920 camera/mic operates on a 2ch-16bit integer.  You can verify this by opening "finder + Utilities + Audio MIDI Setup" and then select the HD Pro Webcam C920 and look at the "Input" Default values.
The Mac Mini's "Built-In Output" and "Buiilt-In Input" formats were set for 2ch-24 bit integer.  Therefore, the default input and output were out of sync with the C920 default format.
Solution:  Change the Mac Mini's default Output to "2ch-16 bit integer".  You don't need to change the default Input but it doesn't hurt to do so.  Once you do this, the camera and it's built in mics work on facetime and all other video chat applications.

  • Can the mac mini i7, 8gigs ram,  edit avchd 1920/1080p without having to convert it?

Can the mac mini i7, 8gigs ram,  external FW800 drive, edit avchd 1920/1080p without having to convert it?
Can you scrub the TL at 5x speed and not have it stutter?

By default it converts it to ProRes 422, though you can specify other codecs.
    Why convert it?
Although FCP X can handle AVCHD natively, AVCHD being a "delivery" codec is not really suitable for editing.
ProRes is designed specifically for ease of editing especially with complex effects and colour correction.
If your editing is going to be fairly basic you can get away with leaving your media as AVCHD.
Note also that an hour of ProRes is around 50GB !

I cannot get the new mac mini to wake from sleep and trigger the displays - this is the second mac mini I have had and both have had the same issues. It worked before on my macbook extremely well...
Using 2 displays, connected via HDMI and thunderbolt
Been on to support a number of times now - is anyone experiencing the same issues?

    BUMP.
I actually showed this to Apple geniuses when I took my computer to the apple store, and it's still here. In console it says:

I don't know if that's related or not, but maybe helps?

  • Dual ADC Apple Studio Displays (clear acrylic) with Mac Mini

I currently have the old school Apple Studio Display ADC monitor hooked up to my Mac Mini using the ADC to DVI adapter. I have a second Studio ADC Display and another ADC to DVI adapter to run Dual Displays. I just bought a SEE 2 XTREME DVI to USB which is used for adding multiple monitors. I have it all hooked up. Its just basic plug and play after installing the Mac driver. My second monitor power light just flashes and wont turn on...Any suggestions? I already made sure both monitors and both ADC to DVI adapters worked, and they do. Please Help!! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

yea, I checked that out about the light flashes. I have tried both monitors seperately and they both work fine...just not with this DVI to USB dual monitor adapter. Also, when I had them hooked up individually, I made sure the resolution was set the same in the system preferences > displays.
