Can a MacBook Air charger charge a MacBook (white)?
Can a MacBook Air charger charge a MacBook (white)?
The power available from the MagSafe adapter intended for a MacBook/Air
likely would be insufficient for a MacBook or MacBook/Pro. They vary due
to output specification, provide inadequate power and likely could be unsat-
isfactory in performance.
While you may be able to charge the battery in a MacBook whose original
adapter was higher output than a that from a MacBook Air, you may not
be able to run the MacBook from MB/Air adapter whilst charging its battery.
Other considerations should be followed, but general specification and well
intended design for correct power to the battery and computer needs have
to be met by the power adapter.
•Intel-Based Apple notebooks: Identifying the right power adapter and power cord
•Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
•Mac notebooks: All about batteries
You should try & match the correct spec adapter, or nearest. May be of higher
output than the one originally shipped with the notebook, but check all the spec
to make sure that, too, can be a workable match and not cause undue damage.
Depending on the build model identifier of the MacBook (these, made between
2006 and 2010) the power requirements changed; however a current working
replacement Magsafe 60w adapter is available from Apple, or quality vendor such
as OWC, see example: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/MC461LLA/
Hopefully this helps somewhat
Good luck & happy computing!

MacBook Air Car Charger?
Does anyone have a practical solution for a MacBook Air car charger? I'm under the impression that the airline adapter will keep it powered while plugged in but won't charge it.
you can use the Power watt 300 inverter, plugs into cigarette lighter and provides an ac outlet
pretty rugged and has a circuit breaker and cutoff so will not drain source to extinction,
works in fairly narrow range of 12 volt sources, such as car batteries or gel cels
will not work with professional film batteries at higher voltages such as 17 volts
one can go 12 volt battery to female car lighter connector to male car lighter connector on inverter to
apple 45watt ac power adapter to magsafe, find for location work but not practical for airplane, -
hello,
my macbook air cpu charge is lower than 5% (i.e. no apps are loaded only the finder, istat menu give me a cpu charge near 3%),
but temperature is more than 90°C and fans don't speed up !
is it normal ?It is degrees C.
when the computer has a normal behavour with no CPU charge, its temp is about 35°C
but sometimes temp increase to 90°C and more.
because i don't heard the fan speed increasing (I almost don't heard the fan so i think they should stay at 2000rpm), I'm afraid to burn the CPU and shut down the mac
i didn't let him get hotter. -
Can mid 2011 macbook air use early 2011 macbook pro's RAM?
I just upgraded my macbook pro's ram from 4gb to 8gb.
Can I put my stock early 2011 mbp's ram into a mid 2011 macbook air?No. The MacBook Air's RAM isn't upgradable, except when configuring a model in the online Apple Store.

can i use air play with my macbook pro and apple tv
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

I made a mistake in my macbook air now in my macbook air showing windows how can i put it back again to macbook air
You need to provide a lot more detail as to what you did.
Were you setting up bootcamp?
Did you blindly install Windows without using bootcamp?
If you set up bootcamp, press and hold the option key when you hear the start up bong until the screen shows both operating systems.You can then select the one that you want. -
Time Machine Locked after MacBook Air reformatted. My MacBook Air was overfull due to an Address book issue (duplication) so after many attempts to clear space, I ended up wiping out the system and reloading Lion. This resulted in the Time Machine thinking that it was now connected to a different computer. Apparently this diables the existing information.
Now I can see that the back-ups exist (back to Sept 2012) but they are greyed out, therefore unavailale to restore. Again, this seems like an issue that shouldn't be happening. The whole point of the Time Machine is to enable reinstatement of data after catastrophic failure. What if my computer actually had to be replaced due to a hardware issue? How would I beableto restore anything?
The path already (unsuccessfully) taken;
Open Library on the computer, Open Time Machine, Select Correct date, drill down to correct data you wish to restore, click "Restore".
This did not work because the correct date was greyed out. Restore key was greyed out.Time Machine Locked after MacBook Air reformatted. After migrating to a new MacBook Air from an older MacBook, iPhoto gets stuck on "uploading cache", it just "spins" forever. I downloaded a new iPhoto app and replaced it, but when opened it just does the same thing? What is going on? Where are my photos now? How can I upload photos from my camera without iPhoto?
Is there a better app?
Thanks, ChrisTake the system to an Apple store to be fixed or replaced as the one you have has defective hardware.

Macbook Air 13" 2011 vs Macbook Pro 13" for a uni student?
Hi all,
I am a university student studying Humanities and Psychology, so I write a LOT of essays. My other computer activities include watching movies, surfing the web, the occasional MMO (WoW and/or EVE Online) and listening to music.
I have a 1Tb external HDD connected to my wireless so hard drive space isn't an issue.
I am torn between the new MacBook Air 13" 256Gb, 4Gb RAM, and the 13" MacBook Pro 500Gb, 8Gb RAM.
The cost of either isn't an issue.
Let me know what your experiences are with either, and leave your opinion on which would be the best for me.
Thanks.First off EatsRainbows, DO NOT get a new computer without a solidstate drive (SSD) it is the most important component of your computer (prorams open faster, saving is faster, transfering files is faster, everything happens fast). IMO the better screen, slightly better keyboard of the Air will be better for you. Also it wins in my hardcore comparision:
2011 13” MacBookAir vs. 2011 13” MacBook Pro
Both are the base models, the Pro has the optional128GB SSD to match the Air.
Cost:
MacBook Air - $1299
Macbook Pro - $1449
Winner = MacBook Air
Screen:
MacBook Air – 13.3” 16:10 1440x900
Macbook Pro - 13.3” 16:10 1280x800
Winner = MacBook Air
CPU Performance:
MacBook Air – i5-2557M
Macbook Pro – i5-2410M, Single Thread 5.5% faster,Multithread 13.5% faster
Winner = MacBook Pro
GPUPerformance:
MacBook Air – 384MB Intel HD 3000 (IntegratedGraphics)
Macbook Pro - 384MB Intel HD 3000 (IntegratedGraphics)
Winner = Tie
Size:
MacBook Air – 0.68 in thick max, 45.2 in^2
Macbook Pro – 0.95 in thick max, 108.5in^2
Winner = MacBook Air
Weight:
MacBook Air – 2.96 lbs
Macbook Pro – 4.5 lbs
Winner = MacBook Air
BatteryLife:
MacBook Air – 50WHr, 7 hours
Macbook Pro – 63.5WHr, 7 hours
Winner = Tie
Winner:
13.3”MacBook Air by A LOT
So you give up slight loss in single thread speed,for something that is much heavier, much larger, and has a worse screen. Basically you would be mad to pay more for aMacBook Pro. -

11" Macbook Air vs. 13" Macbook Pro
I am trying to deside between the 11" Macbook Air and the 13" Macbook Pro. I am a high school student who will mostly be using the computer for surfing the web, research, and projects using Microsoft Word. I love the sleek designs of both devices. However, I am torn between the less expensive and light weight 11" Macbook Air, and the 13" Macbook Pro which is faster and has a longer battery life. I have had PCs for my past computers and don't have much experience with Macs, so I am unsure which device will be more sutable for me.

Mid 2013 Macbook Air fully charged but wont power on
Used my computer after 2.5 weeks and it powered on just fine - then suddenly shut off and restarted. Then it soon shut off and didnt power on again. Thought the battery had drained out so i charged it - in some time the led went from orange to green, yet it still didn't power on.
Took it to an Apple authorized service center here in my town and they diagnosed -
" Tried SMC and PRAM reset.Check with known good power adapter
mac not powering on.Check with minimal config same issue.Try to
reseat the top case same issue.Tried to reseat the Main logic board
same issue persists.No sign of physical and liquid damage.Hence need
to replace the Main logic board under exchange price. "
Saying it costs almost as much money to buy a new laptop....... And i didn't extend my AppleCare (i know, i know.. i forgot! Thought i'd wait till the end of year 1.).
Help, please!Below is the repair Genius Bar Work Confirmation resulting from my mid 2013 MBA 1.7GHz 8GB RAM 512 GB SSD machine that was failing to start-up with or without power attached. The conclusion was it needed a new logic board. However, less than a week after receiving the machine back with a new logic board, the same symptoms (machine going to sleep and not restarting without a reset) have returned. SURELY, APPLE MUST HAVE A KNOWN ISSUE LOG OF THIS NOW WELL DOCUMENTED WIDESPREAD PROBLEM?

Magnetic Field on metal surfaces of MacBook Air when charging?
I've just bought my MacBook Air and when I have it charging for a while and then I run my hand over the metal surfaces (next to the trackpad or on the outer casing) I can feel a slight resistance which feels like a magnetic field. It builds up quicker when the battery is fully charged but still connected to the mains. When you run your fingers over the casing you take away the charge and so it isn't noticable immediately afterwards until it's built up again. But when you take the charge away from the casing it gives you a headache - so it can't be good for you? Has anyone else noticed this?
While some people are more sensetive to electromagnetic fields than others, I doubt it's something to be too concerned over.
It couldn't hurt to have a Genius at a nearby Apple store check it out, though. -
Mid 2012 Macbook air battery charging erratically
A few days ago, I noticed that my macbook air was not charging even though it was plugged to the power adapter. After some time, it showed that it was charging, but infinitely slowly. I did SMC reset and after a while, it was charging normally. But the problem reappeared some time later. Some times SMC reset seems to help, some times it does not. Some times it says that the battery is charged, while the battery percentage is showing less than 100. Also, the connecter light is also not synchronous with the battery state sometimes.
I had changed the battery a couple of months ago. The power adapter is also new. Also, I some times hear a very low buzz sound coming from the connector of the adapter.
