Can I use a fujitsu scansnap 511eox2 with my mac? Is there a work around for software since this scanner was made to work with a PC.

If the mfr's website does not show any drivers or other information for Mac, then I'd say it won't work. Unless you have a Windows partition - you might be able to install the appropriate driver/software there. Not sure since I don't run Windows.

Can Quicken for Windows work on a Mac w/Lion installed using Parallels?

I've never used Parallels but am panicking with the phaseout of the already anemic Quicken for Mac 2007. Has anybody used the more powerful Windows version of Quicken on a Mac through Parallels or some other PC emulator? And will it work with Lion?
Appreciate whatever help you can provide.

Many people run Windows on their Macs for just such reasons, and while I have not myself run Quicken for Windows, I've seen a number of reports from people who do and they've reported no problems that one would not encounter on a standard Windows system. The latest version of Parallels is working fine for me under Lion.
There are also other banking applications that do work on Lion, iBank 4 as an example, and at least some of those can import Quicken files. And of course there's Quicken Essentials for Mac, if that limited feature set would work for you. So you have several options for replacing Quicken for Mac.

How Can I Get Leafnode Working on a Mac?

Here's hoping this isn't off-topic, but my google mojo is failing me..
I use leafnode on a Linux machine sitting in the closet, but the network keeps dropping out on me. So I figure, I'll install it onto my external drive, and that'll solve one problem. Installation went OK of course (thank you, MacPorts), and I've copied over the config file. Just one or two problems:
It insists on a FQDN as mymachine.local isn't good enough. Any way to prevent its insisting on this (as I don't have a FQDN)?
I can't connect to the server on localhost (telnet fails, too) and can't find where to allow it. The 'allowSTRANGERS' parameter is set to 42, but obviously there's some sort of Mac-specific thing I have to do.
Can someone advise?

Back Up External Hard Drive PC.. Can I Make It work On My Mac?

I have a 75 gig High Speed USB 2.0 - PHR-100A external hard drive that i used for a old PC (it had windows xp on it) . Now i would like to use it as back up for my Mac. When i plug it into my Mac it shows as “untitled” in the devices sidebar. I can view the few files i have on it when i try to drag and drop a file i get
the item “item name” could not be moved because “untitled” cannot be modified.
same error if i try to delete a file on that HD.
Some other info you may need to know there are still some files from the windows os that for some reason i cant delete??
is there anything i can do or am i going to have to buy a Mac type ext HD

Hi,
if you don't need anything that's on that HD then just open up Disk Utility and partition the HD with 1 partition as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
I suppose you currently can't move or delete stuff because the drive is formatted NTFS which is a Windows file system the Mac OS can only read but not write to.

I need to reload (resend information) multiple tabs in less than a second (I am playing Travian), but how can I do this with firefox for mac?

When I try to send multiple attacks within a second playing Travian, it is impossible because it is too slow to confirm "resend information" on each tab, and it also takes too long to move from one tab to another. You are aware that you can purchase and install a copy of Windows directly on your Mac, right?
Boot Camp is included with OS X, and requires that you create a separate partition for Windows and install it onto your Mac hard drive. You re-boot your Mac computer into Windows when you want to run the Windows app.
There are also virtual machine environments that will allow you to run full Windows at the same time as Mac OS X: Parallels Desktop, and VMWare Fusion.
Windows performance running in a virtual environment will be limited by the amount of RAM available, the microprocessor, and the amount of hard disk space available.
Parallels offers a free 15-day trial, but you still need a full licensed copy of Windows in order to test it.

Can someone recommend a NAS device that works well with Macs?

I need to have a NAS (network attached storage) device that can be freely accessed by windows and mac computers. I rashly purchased an HP Mediavault; it was only $300 and has 2 500GB drives that I configured as raid-1 for safety. however if I load up a folder with 4000 files in it and browse to that directory, the mac finder thinks about this for say 30 seconds before it lists the files. The Windows machine can view the files in perhaps 4 seconds. I know that Macs have a slow file system but watching the little light blink on the NAS box and waiting so long is getting real annoying. Has anyone found a box that works well with macs and has good performance? These devices are so cheap now they must have crappy processors and stupid firmware. Perhaps someone can recommend a model that has some snap. I also need remote access via the web, and the insane HP software can only upload single files, can't upload a folder, which when you are working with 30,000 files like I am is no fun at all!

It's not really the brand as it is available printer drivers. Just be sure you verify that there is an available OS X printer driver.

Can't Find Server at... error -- only one site, works from non-Macs fine

Greetings:
I have been getting a "Can't Find Server at www.teocommunications.com" error in Firefox for over a month now. I thought initially that it was a problem with the DNS entries and maybe the record had not proliferated though the DNS servers of my ISP or something of that nature. This is not the case.
I have tried to bring my site up in Safari and it yields the same result.
Did an nslookup, and everything resolves fine. Every once in awhile the site comes up on my Mac, but most of the time it gives the error. At all times, if you try to go to it from a Windows machine or my smart phone it works fine 100% if the time. My wife's Windows Vista machine with Firefox brings it up fine 100% of the time (she is on the very same network). I can get it to work for some reason if I totally reboot the Mac or reset the router (but the router is obviously not the problem)... it has to be something in the Mac OS (10.6 and 10.5) that is going on. I have eliminated all other possible problems. Curiously enough, it seems to also be a Leopard (not just Snow Leopard) issue... I can reproduce the error at my school (which is on a totally different network than my home) on the Mac Pro Intels they have which are still on Leopard.
I am on the latest version of Snow Leopard on a brand new Mac Mini.
This problem is only with my site (that I know of) but again it happens ONLY on Macs with Leopard or Snow Leopard. I am very annoyed by this problem and because it is my professional work site, it is imperative that I find the solution and soon.

APPLE, please look into possible configuration or DNS issues in Leopard/Snow Leopard, as before I posted here, I did try several 'fixes' for issues like this for Firefox before I noticed that Safari was getting the same issue and ANY OTHER PLATFORM sees my page just fine!

It sometimes works from my Mac as well. I can get it to load if I reboot the Mac and then in a few reloads it is back to the same error.
I did try openDNS as well and it did not still load. I can pretty much guarantee that it is not the DNS records, it is something going on between my Mac (or the Pros at school). Other sites from my same host work fine, my domain is setup exactly the same. They do use ISPConfig... and it could be something with that program, but I can not seem to confirm any problems there.
I reset my router and the site is currently loading again on my Mac, but I can tell you it will be throwing the error in the very near future because that is one fix that worked before and it worked exactly two loads when I switched to a different wireless access point that is not my router.
SO, the fact that it loads one to up to twenty times on someone's Mac is not enough to reproduce the problem. It takes several reloads and then the problem magically re-appears. This is why the fact that it is working right now on my machine is not good enough to call it fixed.
Try to reload my site several times and see if it gives you the error.
I have (as I stated) tried a lot of what is being suggested here and re-tried it, but nothing fixes it for very long
I appreciate the help and hopefully we can figure out why the situation exists.

1. modifying settings in Firefox (although it does not matter what browser I use,the result is always the same)
2. resetting the router and DSL modem
3. modifying the /etc/hosts file on my Mac
4. dscacheutil -flushcache
5. using openDNS instead of my ISP (which is AT&T)
6. removing the DNS settings and using the router settings
7. turning off airport and back on after 30 seconds
8. renewing my DHCP clients
9. Signning onto a different wireless access point (which is actually a new ISP that I am going with and so they are a totally different network and subnet).. they are setup all over town with wireless access. -- pretty cool actually.
None of this seems to fix the problem loading only my site. Since I do have access to the hosting provider (I work with them)... I have done some things on the hosting side too. All to no avail.

Have you personally tried those models with Brazilian LTE networks? Do they work? If so, fine. If not, then besides that, there is the problem of the warranty which is not international. The user will have to return the phone back to the country of purchase for both warranty and out of warranty service. So what might seem cheaper at first glance might not be in the end.
Anyways, it your money and the OP's should he want to go ahead with your recommendation.
