Can a PDF of an Indesign doc be created from Bridge CS3

Can a PDF of an Indesign doc be created from Bridge CS3 without opening the Indesign file; and retain version cue version info as you would "page information", using an "Adobe PDF Preset" ?

Hi Willi:
Thanks for your prompt response.  Do you know if there are any scripts that can do this or at least help automate some of this process?
Thanks!

    Why can't I edit the Word doc I converted from a PDF?
    Help! That is why I bought this software!

    Hi linda007,
    If you can't edit the file once it's converted to Word, it could be that the PDF was created from a scanned page, and then image text wasn't converted to searchable text. ExportPDF should perform Optical Character Recognition by default, but it can be disabled in Reader. Do you know whether OCR was disabled when you converted the page? If it wasn't, make sure that the correct language was selected for OCR. This option appears at the bottom of the ExportPDF panel in Reader, and in the Document Language (for Text Recognition) pop-up menu that appears after you select your file to convert in the ExportPDF online service.
    If everything seems to have been set correctly, and you still can edit the text, please try triple-clicking to select the text in Word. Did that do the trick?
    Best,

  • Can I increase the resolution in a jpg created from an imovie clip?

    Can I increase the resolution in a jpg created from an imovie clip? I've done the steps to create/extract a "still" from an iMovie clip (which started as a small clip in iphoto). I did the steps of creating the freeze frame, and then doing a "screen shot", but the resolution is only 97 kb, so it won't be good to print. Help!

  • Converting a PDF into an Indesign doc.

    Hello everybody,
    Is it possible to convert a PDF into an Indesign File?  I am using Indesign CS5.5
    Thanks in advance for the help!
    QntaDesign

    No you can´t.
    There´s couple of thing you can try, but I´m afraif none of them are quite perfect...
    1) Open you PDF into Illustrator and copy/paste or drag&drop the content of the page into InDesign from there. Cons are; you can do only one page at the time and your text will be converted to outlines during the process
    2) Save your PDF as RTF or Word document from Acrobat Professional and place resulting file to InDesign with File>Place commans. You probably have to redo most of the layout, but with correct settings you may be able to preserve text as editable mode and have some styles and graphic elements still after placing....
    Steve´s suggestion is only deasent way to do that.

  • InDesign document and metadata from Bridge

    I was watching a Bridge videocast that (I thought) showed entering a headline or description of an image in Bridge and the headline/description showed up as a photo caption when the image was dragged into an InDesign document.  I've tried this several times with no success.  Can I really create a photo caption that travels with the image from Bridge metadata to my InDesign document?

    Luck - I found this fairly quickly.  It was on adobe TV;  the video is by Rufus Deuchler and here's the link:  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/csinsider-design/adobe-bridge-cs4-/
    At about 4 minutes and 30 seconds, he talks about metadata and he says, by filling in headline or description, you can create a caption in InDesign.
    It would be truly wonderful if anyone could tell how to do this.

  • Can't Directly Rate my Images using Stars in Adobe Bridge CS3

    Hi
    I can rate my images in Adobe Bridge CS3 by using the drop down 'Label' menu. However, I cannot rate my image by stars directly under my image thumbnails as my book suggests I can. The book states: "You can also assign stars directly under the thumbnail by clicking on the dots".
    Is there anyway I can do this? Do I have to change some preferences?
    Many thanks in advance for anticipated help.

    try resetting your preferences by holding Ctrl right after you launch Bridge(you have to be fast, you'll get a dialog box if you succeeded)
    Though you'd need to do this only if you are doing it correctly in the first place. With a picture selected you'll notice 5 small dots beneath its thumbnail which you can click on to rate things. If you don't see the dots then increase the thumbnail size by adjusting the slider at the bottom of the screen

  • Can only open some JPEG files in Camera Raw through Bridge CS3

    I'm running Bridge CS3 version 2.0.0.975. I always edit my JPEG files through Camera Raw in Bridge CS3. I only have to Right-Click on the file and select "Open in Camera Raw...". However, I've come into a situation where some jpg files will not open this way; the option is not even there.
    I have made sure to tick the box in preferences under Behavior "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge", and also tick the box under Thumbnails -> Performance and File Handling "Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for JPEG and TIFF Files.
    These files were originally 16bit Grayscale TIFF files, but I changed them to RGB 8bit JPEG files.
    Also, I know the program works because I navigate to an older photo I worked which is a JPEG and the "Open in Camera Raw..." option is there when I Right-Click, but then I navigate back to the image I want to edit, and the option is not there.
    Here are links to my screenshots of what I'm talking about. Both images in the last two screenshots are JPEG:
    General Prefs - http://img535.imageshack.us/i/prefgeneral.png/
    Thumbnail Prefs - http://img716.imageshack.us/i/prefthumbnails.png/
    Camera Raw Option - http://img847.imageshack.us/i/option.png/
    Camera Raw No Option - http://img852.imageshack.us/i/nooption.png/

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

    When I open Photoshop CS3, then go File -> Open As and change the Format Type to "Camera Raw", the JPEG files vanish and I can only see the TIF files. When I open them, it doesn't open in Camera Raw, but rather opens like a normal file would.
    That's a fundamental problem right there, and a clue in all this.  You should be able to see JPEGs in the Open As Camera Raw dialog.
    What happens if you type in the name?
    I'm almost convinced you have a file named .jpg but with a different image format inside.  Can you put one of these files online for others to try to open?

  • Can't open Camera Raw from Bridge CS3

    Need Help with the following issue. Until recently I was able to open & edit camera raw files in Bridge CS3. Tried to update Bridge from Adobe website and all of a sudden the "open in camera raw" option under File is greyed out. Also right-clicking the raw (CR2) file does not allow me to open the file in camera raw and I can't view the files as thumbnails any longer. When I double click the file Photoshop opens and subsequently camera raw. I have really lost the convenience of opening the file in Bridge and I'm afraid my workflow will suffer. Any help would be appreciated. I am running Windows 7. Thanks.

    I am having this exact same problem and just upgraded to Windows 7...many people are saying to update the Plug In for Camera Raw to 4.6, but that is not working for me to see it in Bridge or Camera Raw.

  • Can't Open jpeg files from Bridge CS3 to PhotoShop CS3

    This is really weird. I had a trial version of CS3 and bridge worked fine. That ran out, so I tried CS2 to see if I could get by with the older version. CS2's bridge worked just fine.
    Then I installed a full version copy of CS3 and removed CS2 (to free up space) and for some bizarre reason, I cannot open any files from bridge into Photoshop. It's the CS3 bridge because I clicked on the Help, About Bridge and it showed CS3.
    When I just click "open" under file, it tries to open with Illustrator. When I click, "open with" I get this list: Adobe Illustrator CS3 (default), Firefox 2.0, Internet Explorer 6.00, and Paint 5.1.
    I can't figure out a way to change the default to CS3, and it worked fine with the trials.
    Please advise.

    It was a nice thought. I just did it, and associated all .jpg type files with photoshop, but no such luck in solving issue. I did figure out a way around it that kinda works, but not nearly as convenient. I drag select a group, then hold-click on the group and toggle into Photoshop, then let go. It pastes the group there. However, if I control click to select a group (or deselect within a group), I can't hold-click. So I have to do smaller groups at a time if I want to bypass certain pictures that get grabbed in a bigger group--does that make any sense at all?

  • I can't open my past InDesign docs since my machine performed an Adobe/Software update?

    Recently the automatic software update prompted me to install the most Adobe updates. I did and now I can not open old ID docs. I am running CS4 and these are CS4 docs that I can not open. It gives me the error message below...
    Is this an issue that resetting ID prefs would solve?
    I am running CS4 Creative Suite on a 27" iMac with OS 10.6.5. Please help?!?!?!

    Why don't you see if resetting your ID prefs solves it???
    Did you have any additional plugins installed? If you were using a plugin when the file was saved and that plugin is no longer working in CS4 then it probably won't open. Any plugins?

  • Can the pdf title and author properites be set from an RTF template

    Is it possible to set the out PDF properties from the RTF template? That is the properties you see when you select file properties in the pdf viewer.
    Noticed a code snippet in another post that would appear to set some of the properties when using PDF book binder.
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.setProperty(Constants.SYSTE_TEMP_DIR, location);
    prop.setProperty(Constants.SYSTEM_CACHE_PAGE_SIZE, Constants.NUM_50);
    prop.setProperty(Constants.PDF_COMPRESSION, Constants.BOOLEAN_TRUE);
    {color:#0000ff}
    prop.setProperty(Constants.PDF_TITLE, "Custom PDR");{color}
    prop.setProperty(Constants.INCLUDE_TOC_PAGE_NUM, Constants.BOOLEAN_TRUE);
    pdfBookBinder.setConfig(prop);
    Also found the posting about setting the pdf security property by seting word custom properties. Tried combining the two but is did not work. Any ideas anyone?

    For anyone who is interested, this was caused by our email client, not BIP.

  • Why can't I run a powershell file I created from a powershell function

    Ok so admittedly I am still learning a lot about powershell so this may have a very easy explanation/solution
    So I have this script file and this is it in its entirety
    function Add-DriveFunctions($Provider, $Path)
    foreach ($Drive in $Provider.Drives)
    if ((Get-Command | where Name -eq "$($Drive.Name):") -eq $null)
    [String]"function $($Drive.Name):() {Set-Location $($Drive.Name):}" | Out-File $Path -Append
    $Path = C:\Temp\test.ps1
    """Adding Drives""" | Out-File $Path
    foreach ($Provider in Get-PSProvider)
    Add-DriveFunctions -Provider $Provider -Path $Path
    C:\Temp\test.ps1
    When I run it it happily creates the ps1 file whose content looks like this
     "Adding drives"
    function Alias:() {Set-Location Alias:}
    function Env:() {Set-Location Env:}
    function Function:() {Set-Location Function:}
    function HKLM:() {Set-Location HKLM:}
    function HKCU:() {Set-Location HKCU:}
    function Variable:() {Set-Location Variable:}
    But the last line to actually load and run the ps1 file does nothing
    even calling C:\Temp\test.ps1 does nothing
    but if I load the file into ISE and run it from there
    it works.
    Unless I'm completely missing something I would think being able to call other ps1 files from other ps1 files or the command line would be a pretty important part of powershells flexibility.
    So if anyone could tell me why in this case it does not work I would greatly appreciate that
    Cheers,
    Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur

    Ok i'm a little confused
    in ISE if I write a ps1 file and i have just a function in it not anything calling that function when i run or debug it loads that functions definition into the current session and then from my console i can access my function. so Is that what the . is supposed
    to do?
    When i tried the . I get this
    The term '.C:\Temp\test.ps1' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable
    program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try
    again.At C:\Users\rjs012978\Downloads\FunctionTest.ps1:20 char:1
    + .C:\Temp\test.ps1
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : ObjectNotFound: (.C:\Temp\test.ps1:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException
    Also I know i can do that with the mono letter drive but working on a network over half the alphabet is taken up by my actual network mapped drives.
    And the provider i'm writing is connecting to multiple Space IDs that i'm making into my drives so I would quickly run out of letters.
    proof of concept i know what i'm doing works if I do it manually
    I know it's kind of silly but for me the amount of time i spend in powershell especially administering SCCM, the registry and AD being able to just type hklm: and hitting enter is a huge time save over the long haul than typing cd hklm: even though it's
    just 3 more characters

  • How do I get a special ledger doc to create from a PCA distribution?

    We are looking at using PCA distributions.  Execution of these cycles must create a special ledger document.  It's  my understanding this is done by assigning the appropriate activity/bus transaction to the special ledger.  The activity is PCAD.  When I try to assign this activity to our special ledger via GCL2, PCAD is not included in the list of possibilities for assignment (non-assigned activities that can be assigned).  We currently use cost center distributions and those transfer to special ledger via assignment of activity RKIV to our special ledger.  Not sure what the trick is to PCA distributions.  Any clues?
    Thanks for your response.

    Hi Judy,
    The activy PCAD is related to Component EC-PCA and is possible for Ledger 8A.
    In Order to to bring the Distribution cycles related data meaning the EC PCA Records with Activity PCAD, you need to setup Roll up ledger with appropriate settings. Create a roll up ledger and execute after distribution cycles execution during MEC.
    Hope this clarifies the point.

  • Can i use malloc function while using DLL created from C program

    Hi,
    I have written a simple program in C , which uses malloc function for allocating memory for the array.When iam calling that DLL using call library function node in labview, it is not giving any output, my doubt is can we use malloc function in C program from which we will create DLL and is called in labview? I am attaching my C code and DLL and also labview file please tell me where i am doing wrong?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Vishnu,
    There's no problem using the Malloc function in C and call it as a DLL in LabVIEW.
    But LabVIEW has a different memory management than C.
    It is probably not recommended to allocate array memory in C for labVIEW arrays
    You can use initialize array in LabVIEW instead.

  • A Way to Tell if a New Doc is Created from an INX?

    Dear all,
    Is there a way to tell if the newly document created has just been recreated from an INX? I was guessing that IDocument::IsConverted would provide some kind of a clue, but apparently no.
    Thanks!

    Update: I've learned that the A2DP profile can actually use many different codecs, and apt-X is just one of them. Others include SBC, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and AAC.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetoothprofile#Advanced_Audio_Distribution_Profile.28A2DP.29
    So I guess the question is not A2DP vs. apt-X. Instead it should be, how do I know which codec is being used? And does my computer support apt-X?
