Can a person write a book with Pages 5?

I can't find any way to define a left and right page. If a chapter is a section, how do you tell Pages 5 that a new chapter (section) should always start on the left hand page? I'm finding it very difficult to update my book to Pages 5.

Just one of 110 features removed in Pages 5.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

I know indesign has already a function that can making contents in a same file, as long as some paragraph styles were indicated to make the contents.
But if the title on the master page, it doesn’t work.

I work on one book which has 40 topic that follow immediately, each topic has a title, socalled section headed. They were put on the master page. What I want is the section headed and the each topic's starting number to make a contents.
Each time, I work on this kind of book, I have to copy them 40 times to make a contents page, and I have to writing down the each section's starting page number and then type in the contents.
I was wondering if it is a function can help me and let me easily to make a contents.

I have a very old manual of Westinghouse Radio schematics (1936-1937).I have scanned the manual in pdf's and wanted to take certain models to put together as one "book" for my own reference. iBook sees each page as a book when I export to it.

On full keyboards with a numeric keypad, the key above the right shift is "return" & the one on the numeric section is "enter." On a Mac (or Apple IIgs ) they do have separate functions. On the "mini" keyboards, both names are on the same key, but "enter" is written in smaller letters. I'll have to check to see how that works on another Mac later today.

If it's an ibook then you can't - they can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch (there isn't even a Mac or PC reader for them).

Yes. There is the free iBooks app which then allows you to download books from Apple's book store. Kindle also has an app and there are other e-reader apps.
The one thing to consider, the iPad is a backlit screen, so it's like reading off a comptuer screen. Some have issues with eye strain so just bear that in mind.

Adobe Reader on the iPhone is a PDF reading app. It's not a creation app.
You need to get an app like Pages which is intended for page layout. It can place pictures from the phone and export PDF.

I mean, I have differents documents und I want to mix in a book. With the previus I can number all the book and that's ok, but with the new version CS5 I can't.
I 've been following the manual's instructions but there's not result. The pages don't change the number und they are individually numbered.
I think thay maybe that's is a problem with the version. Has anyonte the same difficulty?

Finally, we found the issue. It was a probleme with the install, because we kept the "prioritys" ("preferencias" in Spanish, I don't know the real name in informatic language) of the previous version. We deleyed the application's "prioritys" and that's ok.

How can I fix a downloaded book with tons of pages with errors?

I have read dozens of books on my iPad and only had sporadic problems. But this latest book I downloaded from Harper has error messages on two thirds of the pages. I have re-downloaded and still encounter the same issue. It happens on both of our iPads. (new iPad and original iPad)
Every time I try to click on "report a problem" from the iTunes receipt, it leads me to a page in itunes store which will not open or is just for music.
Any suggestions?

Can you share iCalander/Address Book with other users and restrict them from seeing certain entries?

I'm doing some research for my boss concerning iCloud. He would like to setup a way to syncronize iCalender and the Address Book between three users but keep his personal information private. For example, he wants to be able to update his calender from his phone about an upcoming meeting/project so that the three computers at work are all updated and see upcoming events. Same goes for the contacts. If he adds a new contact or if I add a new contact, for a client or whoever it may be, he wants it to sync up for everyone. At the same time, if he adds a personal event to iCal such as, "Dinner with the girlfriend" or something irrelevant to work, he doesn't employees to be able to see that. My first idea was to setup an iCloud account but I'm wondering if you can even restrict certain things within an account.
Anyone have any other ideas? They would be greatly appreciated.

iCloud appears to provide no Address Book sharing. You might be able to do this through Google, but it would be likely to be all contacts or none.
iCloud allows you to share calendars privately (editable if you wish) to other iCloud users or publicly (non-editable) to anyone - they would need a CalDAV client to read it, such as iCal or Google Calendars.
You share individual calendars, so private events should be in their own calendar which is not shared.

My wife and I both logon to our iMac with different user accounts. However, we know all the same people and would like to share the contents of the Address Book. How do we go about this so that if I add a person to the address book, that my wife will see it when she gets on with her account?

I realize yours was a suggestion to investigate & not a recommendation, but I wanted to point out some of the method's potential problems in case it was taken as the latter.
Should anyone decide to take the safer option of sharing vCards manually, they can make the procedure easier by creating a shared folder in Users/Shared & an alias of it in some convenient location like the desktop. Then, after creating new contacts they want to share, they need only drag them from the name list into the alias. The other account holder(s) then can drag them from that common folder into their own Address Book.
A variation of this idea is to create individual folders in each ~/Public/ folder (changing permissions as appropriate), or to use the Drop Box folder to make the vCard available to other user(s). This would reduce the confusion between "incoming" & "outgoing" vCards. I haven't tried it, but it might also be possible to automate the importing or at least notification for the receiving user with folder action scripts.

It only mentions, that you can change the font size:
Edit text on a page
Tap Projects, and tap the photo book to open it.
Double-tap the page containing the text you want to work with.
Do the following:
Align the text: Tap the text box, and choose an alignment style from the menu that appears directly above the text box.
Choose the font size: Tap the text box, and tap the font size you want.
Make changes to the text: Double-tap the text box, and type.
No mention of the supported font. Probably the fonts will depend on the country of the Print Products Store you are using:
To change countries, tap at the top-left corner of the screen, and select another country from the list.

Can I make a hardcover book with pictures from my ipad or do they need to be on my desktop first?

I am having trouble putting pictures from my ipad onto my desktop. I could use the memory card of my digital camera, but I was hoping the folders would transfer intact from my ipad. Also, Can I make a Shutterfly type book directly from my iPad?

There is a Shutterfly app for iPad ... although I have no personal experience with it, I see it has not been updated in about 16 months, and it doesn't have such great reviews.
There is also an iPhoto app for iPad that probably enables book creation.
So there are probably other apps out there as well, given these two exist.

Why can't I print a book with iphoto 09?

I have a book under "keepsakes" that it says (0) next to the name of the album. But when I open it up you can see the pictures in there. I can't print the book though when I'm ready to input the number of copies that part is in gray and it won't let me choose one. I tried with another album and it doesn't work either.
Any suggestions?
