Can a PM work center operation be split without assigning to individuals?

We have a requirement to split the work time of a PM operation into more than one non-consecutive time period. For example a maintenance trade work center containing 3 individuals is required to perform an operation that takes 40 hours. Due to the plant schedule the work will be carried out in 20 hour segments. 20 hours in week 5 and 20 hours in week 7. Can this operation be dispatched as a split without assigning the splits to individuals in the work center?
We are using: SAP Appl Release 470 and
SAP R/3 Enterprise PLM, SCM, Financials Release 110 and the latest support packs.

Hi,
Please clarify my following issue:
We are having Two plants which are controlled by one shift incharge, Each plants has one operator, Each plant has permanent workers and has contract workers.
So please confirm where should I allocate operator in operation 1, 2 & 3. And also confirm where should i mention shift-in-charges as he is common for both plants.

You can enter shift in charge in Person responsible field in basic data tab in work center..
Assign the operator details in HRMS data as shown below in work center...
For this you need to have HR module implemented in your system...take the help of HR consultant for the employee details and then assign them in the work center...

Can we control Work center group links using auth object UIU_COMP

Hello All,
We are running into an issue while doing our PFCG role configuration.
I need to know if we can control Work center group links in a business role through auth object UIU_COMP.
We can control Workcenter's but not 'Work Center Group Links'.
Here is what we did:
- We have a business role Z_RA_DEFAULT.
- The Nav Bar Profile SRV-PRO for this business role has some work center group links that are checked in menu and visible.
- I'm trying to find the values in the auth object UIU_COMP to restrict Work center group links.
- Even though the values Work center group links are in menu and visible,
I want to remove these Work center group links from the screen using the auth object.
- If we remove the check from in menu and visible in the business role the Work center group links disapper from the screen.
Right now this is only way we are able to controle Work center group links.
Question:
- Can I use UIU_COMP to restrict Work center group links?
- any another auth object that controle Work center group links?
- any document/ website / info available which tells us what can we restrict with auth object UIU_COMP?
- or any other way of doing this... like code change, user exit, ....?

I am not sure if I have understood the issue correctly, but still what stops you from actually creating a clone business role to your existing business role and deactivating the in menu visible work center group links. Use this new business role for users who need to be prevented from viewing the work center groups links in question.
If you are going to use authorization objects to control the visibility wont it impact all users (still defeating your original purpose?)

You will need to have a SIM in the phone to activate it. If it's still locked to a carrier, it will need to be a SIM from that carrier. This would need to be done if/when you update the software.

Work center's description copy automatically in operation Routing

Hi all,
Could anyboy tell me where point of spro is to customize that work center's description is copied automatically in the operation Routing's description?
I try to search for it but I don't find it still.

Hi,
A suggestion:
In CA10, create a key say Z1 & give the description same as work center's description.
Now go to CR02 & for the work center in default values tab, assign the key to the field Standard Text key.
Now when you create a routing which uses this work center, the operation description will contain the work center description.

Capacity categories in work center

Dear PP gurus,
I have a work center where i have maintained 2 capacity categories in capacity tab screen. One m/c and other labour. Now when i assign this work center to a routing.....in the routing operation details screen, i see only the formula from the 1st capacity category showing up. How/Where can i see the formulas from the other capacity category, maintained in the work center?

For the capacity category say:Machine, in the "capacity header" in workcenter, you assign "no. of individual capacities" as 2. Also, you can create the capacities in CR11 and assign the same to the work center.
In routing you can just enable the check box "Required splitting" and assign no. of splits =2. you cannot assign the individual capacities you have created in CR11 in routing.
In Production order, in operation details, "Cap. reqmt assignment", you can assign those two individual capacities and assign qty to be processed in those capacities.

Automatic change of Work Center during Confirmation.

Happy New Year to all!
Just want to ask if anyone of you encountered the scenario during confirmation in which the backflushed work center was changed. The user claims that they did not do any changes during confirmation nor did they change manually the order itself. The confirmation happened last December and they only noticed it this month when they were checking the reports.
I did not configure their system so that they can change the Work Center during confirmation. By default, the work center is grayed out during confirmation.

Dear
If your production order operations are re-scheuled and dispatched after Capacity Avalaiblity check in cm21/cm22/cm31 etc , then during the dispatch of operation , you have option to change Work Cnetre , time , date based on the selection option in Startgy profile (CM31/CM21-Enter the WORK CENTRE /Order ) and check wether work centre is changed.
One more option may be in Order Change in CO02-Operation Overview -Operation -Work centre -Here user may change the Work Centre .
If you have Order Change management active then you can trace the same .

Otherwise , there is not such confirguration in SPRO where work centre can be changed automatrically during confirmaiton because it will grade out based on the ste of confirmaiton default screen in OP00.

How to use Assignment Enforcement(Work Center Maintenance)

I thought that I was not able to start SFC in the work center which Assignment Enforcement is set in Enforced.
However, SFC was able to be begun and to be completed by using POD in the following situations.
Is the mistake found in my way to use Assignment Enforcement?
Product A can use just resource RSC01 in operation PR001.
Resource RSC01 is assigned to work center WC001.
I set Assignment Enforcement in Enforced.
And No user assign to work center WC001.
I start SFC at operation PR001 and resource RSC01.

Let me quote the guru of ME first:
"The Assignment Enforcement option only applies to the actual assignments made in SWA (Rich Supervisor Work Assignment). If any assignments were made in SWA, then those will be enforced as defined by this rule. There is still one validation that is performed no matter how this option is set: The operator must still be in the W/C to perform the work in the Rich POD. We donu2019t want users from WC1 working in WC2, ever. That is why we always make this validation, even if the rule is set to None."
So, in case you use Rich POD, SWA and Assignment Enforcement option, then you should see the error message caused by Assignment Enforcement.

Combine Work Center Link Groups in one Work Center

Hello Experts,
our requirement is to combine the Work Center Link Groups of several Work Centers into one Custom Work Center.
For example, the work centers Knowledge Management and Managing Operations. (IC-MGRKM, IC-MGRMA)
They have Work Center Link Groups like IC-MGMA-CR or IC-MGKM-CR. Now we defined an own work center Y-IC-MGRMA and assigned these links groups (and others) to the Work Center.
However, when we open the Work Center we only ever see links of one work center type (for example only the links of Knowledge Management).
Is it even possible to combine the different work centers into one big work center with many links? What would we have to do to achieve this?
Help would be appreciated!

If I am not wrong you are assigning standard work Center Link Groups like IC-MGMA-CR & IC-MGKM-CR to newly created Work center Y-IC-MGRMA .If I try the same, all related links can be made visible. The process you are following is correct.
You may have confused with the nomenclature of your work center ID - Y-IC-MGRM. Please look into the "Group ID" column, if you are assigning standard group links as mentioned above you will find three logical link ID for Knowledge management & two for MGMA too. In short if five logical links are available in second level navigation then things are correct at you end. I tried it and its working fine.

Urgent : Automatic Selection of work center

please provide me valuable input to accomplish the business scenario,
the scenario is
1.There are 16 NC T-Bending Machine with different capacity.
2. The Client wants to select the workcenter automatically if the 1st workcenter is overloaded i.e 2nd workcenter should be selected by the system
Again,if 2nd workcenter is overloaded then system should select 3rd workcenter and so on..
How I can make it possible.
I am trying the Alternative sequence ,will it works to achive the requirement .
please give ur valuable inputs.

In capacity leveling transaction, enable "date entry when dispatching". Then, every time you dispatch operations, you will get a pop-up for date entry. Luckily, this pop-up also has a field for work center - so you can change work center also (with or without date changing).
We are using this method extensively. Start transaction with all the work centers that you want to be considered. Then, just select all the orders and dispatch. In pop-up, change work center to the next in list. So, some orders will get dispatched to that work center, and after its capacity is fully booked, the balance orders will fail to dispatch. Once again, select all orders (left in the order pool) and dispatch, and change work center in pop-up. You will have to do this as many times as the list of work centers OR till all orders are dispatched (whichever occurs first). Takes just about a minute per work center and works perfectly.

Work Order Operation Duplicated on Operation/Activity Number

I had a coworker duplicated his activity number on a operation. He hit save after he had changed the operation number. Now it is giving an error "Inconsistent data: Order 20066826 02/11/2008, duplicate entry U 0125. This had only happened once before and I tecoed/business completed the work order. Then told them to create a new order. But this one, has important information in it, so I was asked to save this order.
Any way to renumber the operation or delete it, or just get in the work order itself? I get this error in change or display.

What you describe should not have happened, and in 11 years of consulting on SAP Plant Maintenance I can only recall having seen this kind of problem once previously. It's not a very easy problem to resolve. There are a couple of suggestions I can make, neither of which are particularly easy or straighforward:
1. Raise an OSS message with help.sap.com to see if they are aware of the problem and have an ABAP that you can download that will correct or delete the database entries. I have done this successfully previously but whether they have an off the shelf solution for this will depend on which version you are on and which tables have corrupted entries in them.
2. Get an ABAPer to look at the problem and produce an ABAP program to correct the entries internally. It wouldn't need to be a particularly complex program, only a few lines, but some analysis would be needed to ensure that all of the affected table entries are corrected as the work order operations are split across several tables.
Sorry but there is not really an easy answer to this one.

Table of work center destribution

Hi PP experts,
Can anybody tell me what is the table of work center distribution field. In one customized report I can not link work center distribution field with routing operation field ( For ex. work center distribution A should assigned with it's routing opearation only )

Factory Calander :-- Factory calendar contain company specific dates such as alternate working Saturdays, Plant shutdown etc.
You can create your company factory calendar via transaction code 'SCAL'.
Assignment of the factory calendar by plant is done in transaction code 'SM30 - V_T001W'.
An example of a SAP application that uses the factory calendar is the SAP MRP modules.
Assuming that you have a specified an alternate working Saturday, MRP will postponed the planned orders to the next working day if it happened to falls on a non-working Saturday.
Work Center :--
Operations are carried out at a work center. In the R/3 System work centers are business objects that can represent the following real work centers, for example:
Machines, machine groups
Production lines
Assembly work centers
Employees, groups of employees

Work center selection during UD

Production guys confirmed order confirmation or make backflushing confirmation to update the WIP/FG stock,
then quality cleared such stock through posting to unrestricted or blocked stock or rejection store location,
Quality person requires during UD posting ,work center/Machine selection should be there in QA32 transaction,
so that the analysis could be made for the work center,

Using Inspection Point assignment, you can record the Work Center / Machine.
But with Inspection Point, you can't have F4 selection option in standard. You have to type the Work Center code manually which may prone to error.
You can check for some user exits to define Sub screens to pop up.

Work center reporting

Hi,
In our system in transaction OP4A lot of ‘Shift definations’, ‘shift sequences’ are maintained unnecessary. We want to clean this data (Remove unwanted).
Is there any report available for work center like 'where used' function to identify shift pattern, sequences used in system so that I can remove other data.

Thank you for your help, as you suggested I can check 'Shift Sequence' at table level.
Still the problem is we have to remove unnecessary shifts defined in system and it is possible to assign defined shifts to work center intervals directly means without giving 'Shift sequence' as input.
Is there any table available where I can get the 'Shifts' assigned to work centers?
