Can a safari and microsoft window share equal space?

Is it possible to have two application windows open (one say safari and the other microsoft word) and be able to see both windows at the same time clearly? For instance if I am in the process of writng a review on an article i read on cnn.com and i dont want to keep switching btwn. the two windows

Welcome to the discussions!
You can adjust the size of the windows to fit one side by side. Just drag the bottom right corner and adjust to fit.
The MB's screen is a little small for that, but it can work if you fiddle with it.

You have probably clicked on a mailto: web link which directs links to send e-mail messages to wherever the webmaster chooses. Go to the View menu -> Show Statusbar if it available, and then make sure the bottom of your screen is visible. When you hover over a link, if it says: mailto: it will open in your default e-mail reading application set by your browser or your e-mail program preferences.
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Software Update lets you change how often you see the software update window.

Difference between Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1 (Tablet Edition) and Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1

I am trying to pull a report for all Windows 7 machines. But, i could find 2 attributes in view V_r_system that are operating_system_name_and0 and operatingsystem0 where I can get the OS information. Few machines are showing as "Microsoft Windows NT
Workstation 6.1" on operating_system_name_and0 and few are "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1 (Tablet Edition)".
I am so curious to know about "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1 (Tablet Edition)", so I just compared those machines with V_GS_Computer_system view to know whether these machines are a normal Laptop or Tablet based laptop. But, those are ALL
NORMAL LAPTOPS ONLY. however, those machines OSes are showing as "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1 (Tablet Edition)".
But, the build numbers and OS versions are same as "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1" machines. So,
I could not find any difference between "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1" machines and "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1 (Tablet Edition)" machines in terms of models number , OS build number.
Could someone of you please why the operating_system_name_and0 attribute shows as "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1 (Tablet Edition)" for part of the machines.

How do we check without RDP on those machines? Because, I have around 11,000 machines which are showing as "Microsoft
Windows NT Workstation 6.1 (Tablet Edition)" out of 40,000 machines.
Is there a way to find that touch screen info in SCCM DB or somewhere?

I would recommend closing any open applications in multitasking and restarting the device. If unfamiliar with multitasking, I have included a screenshot on how to process an application close.

Non iCloud contact sync not working with iPhone 4S and Microsoft Windows/Outlook

Trying to sync contacts without success! Have iPhone 4S and Microsoft Windows, not using iCloud. I've gone through the Info route and told it to sync but the data doesn't transfer. Any idea why?

I was offered an update to Flash Player. Downloaded it but then was told I had to agree to the licensing agreement but it will not show me the agreement except for a few lines of it. I don't know what (exactly) your problem is, or what Microsoft has to do with it, but did you click the little checkbox left of "I have read and agree..."?

Finder can't access a mounted windows share - but the Terminal can...

When I mount a drive using the finder's "Go / Connect to Server..." command I can choose the share to connect to and Finder mounts the share, puts it on the desktop etc... but then it tells me that:
"The folder “Sharename” can’t be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents."
Any attempt to access the folder through the finder will result in the same error message.
Since the share does otherwise mount sucessfully, it shows up in /Volumes/ and using the terminal I can access the contents of the drive and open files. Applications, both terminal and GUI can read and save to files and folders opened in this way, but the GUI application cannot find the path again if you browse away in the app's browsable dialog boxes (like Save or Open). I can access any file using an absolute path in any program.
There are more nuances to this behaviour:
Other shares hosted by the same server don't have this problem.
Using the terminal, I appear to have the same Unix permissions to the files and folders on the shares that work as the ones that don't work.
Using Finder's "Go to Folder..." command I can open some, but not all folders in the flaky sharepoint mounts. All files seem to work though.
My guess is that there are some permissions that are making Finder unhappy, but I'm not sure what they might be. But regardless, why then can I access everything from the Terminal? I'd like to use the Finder - it makes my experience much smoother!
Some other people in this forum seem to have had the same problem with their NAS drives, but I don't think anyone has yet suggested they try accessing it via the terminal. It would be really helpful if anyone could confirm this Finder/Terminal discrepant behaviour.

I am having the same problem but with OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).
I try to connect to the NAS via the Go / Connect to Server utilizing smb or cifs protocols and it will mount but then I can't enter the mounted drives/directories with finder.
The workaround for forcing smb1 has been applied and I find that Finder would not permit me to enter those mounted directories but I can go via the command line and work fine. The only issue is that with a Mac, as much as everybody say, you should not need to go to the command line... Yeah, right.
For the amount of money that I paid for the Mac Book Pro, it should work. So, now I can confirm that even Mac OS X can be as bad as Windows...
Any idea when will Apple put out a fix or an update to finder?

Possible reset safari and downloads window bug

I have noticed, at different times on different macs...
Reset safari, open the downloads window and the items in there do not clear out. In fact, it takes two reset Safari's to clear them out. Now, I have them set to download to desktop and not the downloads folder. I can reproduce 1 out of 3 times.

I have checked on multiple computers and even the Apple Retail store, the issue continues to happen, but there is no rhyme or reason what the trigger is:
I have noticed with Safari 3.2 and 3.2.1 that when resetting Safari, the downloads window does not always clear out. Upon an additional reset, the window does clear out.
If the downloads window was open, then you close it, reset safari, and then reopen the downloads window, whatever was there is still there (until you reset again).

ZCM and Mapping Windows Shares

I am having a strange issue. I have a VBscript that runs in the Novell Login script when users log on that maps a drive to a Windows share on our Student Management Database server. The script runs fine and maps the drive, however when you go to access the drive it says:
"K: is not inaccessible........incorrect function"
Now here is where it gets strange. On some computers logged on as the same user it works and you can access while on other computers you get the above message. I first thought it was a rights issue but being logged in as the same user on some computers it works. Another thing I found was with ZCM. We have ZCM 11.2.2 installed on our computers. On the computers that they cannot access the drive, and get the message above, if I uninstall ZCM completely I can then log in as that same user on that computer and am able to access the drive. Also if I install ZCM 10.3.2 I am able to access with that user, but as soon as I install ZCM 11.2.2 on the computer then that same user gets the above message trying to access the drive.
Has anyone ran into this or have any thing that I could look for?

Thanks for the information. Yeah the VBscript uses a generic account to connect the mapped drive to the server. I will check out some of the GPO settings and see if something is being missed. It is just weird that it is working on some computers but not on others for the same user.

Depending on the OS of the Client PC and the OS of the Target Server,

Screen vibrates when booting up. It fluctuates very fast between Safari and Microsoft Messenger. Back and forth .... flicking away .... back and forth, very, very, quickly. And then when its completely finished booting, everything is OK.

I sign in and when Safari opens, whilst Microsoft Messenger is downloading, the monitor screen vibrates between Safari and Messenger at a very, very, fast pace. YES .... but they have always been set to open at login. I must admit that if Messenger isn't set to open at login this doesn't happen. But even though Safari opens at login, the opening page in Safari doesn't open; I have to click on Safari again, (when I am reminded after the computer has booted-up), because the monitor screen is just blank! Then after a click on the Safari icon the screen fills up in a second. Gees, what have I unintentionally done?

When I connect to the Internet through Safari the browser window is pretty small. I'm using Firefox on a new MacBook. Is there a way to increase the window size for internet browsing?

I have a USB mobile broadband from Three.
For a few months it worked ok for my both iMac and Powerbook.
But since yesterday afternoon, somehow I can't see any web pages, except Google search and search results. I tried both Safari and Firefox, both didn't work. Also I can't receive or send my emails.
I checked internet connection, which must be fine. I see IP address and router address on network preference.
I cleared both browsers cache, and deleted all history, but didn't work.
Strange thing is that I can see Google and get results, but once I click any of search results, page gets just blank.
I'd be very pleased if anyone could solve this problem.

When did this start? Which version of Firefox?
For reference, Firefox 23.0 was released on Tuesday, August 6th, and Firefox 23.0.1 was just released on Friday, August 16th.
Does the address bar work normally in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
If Firefox is running, you can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
If Firefox is not running, hold the Shift key when starting Firefox to get the Safe Mode dialog.
