Can a TOC be inserted into a text box in Pages?

Good evening. I am part way into creating a first document in Pages. Things are going well, for the most part, though I admit there is a learning curve here.
One problem I am encountering is getting a Table of Contents (TOC) to generate inside a text box. There is a specific effect I am trying to create that depends upon having that text box surrounding the TOC. Is it possible to generate the TOC within the text box?
Alternatively, if it is not possible, is there a way to mimic a floating text box with embedded TOC in Pages using whatever standard method exists? I have tried using the plain old "Insert table of contents" menu item and the results are plain and ugly. Moreover, I don't seem to have much control over placement of the TOC, though I see how I can change some of the formatting.
Any and all feedback is appreciated.

ps: I am new to Macs in general, though I have extensive experience on Windows OS. I have a brand new Macbook Pro with Mtn Lion upgrade, and newly purchased Pages '09 software.

I am deeply familiar with Word, myself, but wanted to try a new challenge. Pages has been highly recommended to me as a tool that can produce some quite beautiful documents. Re-doing my CV from its current, fairly conventional format to something much more graphic seemed like a nice creative outlet.

You can add the the link to the text using the Hyperlink manager at the top. You can link it with any internal or external URL.

Images can no longer be inserted into the header in iWork pages '13?

in iwork '09, it is allowed to insert a image in the header and footer. what happened to the iwork '13?
any ideas?

I encountered the same issue as we sometimes use our company logo on all pages in a document. My workaround is to use the 'move objects to master' feature on an image placed in the header area.
Place and select image
Open the 'Arrange' menu
Chosse 'Section Masters'
Select 'Move objects to master'
NB: I use a Danish version and might not translate this correctly. Anyway you can just search for 'Master' in the help menu.

The Tilda character inserts into my text without keyboard input. Or any input. Has anyone seen this?

When I have an AI file open and in the text mode. The Tilda character "~" is inserted into the text string every few minutes. I can go away and when I come back there will be 20 "~" all in a row. Is there any cure?

You may try the list, unless there is something wrong with the Tilde key (hanging or something).
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).

If you have to handle situations where you do not want to insert something in an array, then you can either use a negative index value as you suggested, or put the insert node in a case structure, with the "do not insert" case empty (almost...just crossed by the array wire!..)

Cp5 - Pasting text from Notepad into a text box

I posted this message in the "Getting Started Forum" but there isn't a whole lot of activity in that forum.
Hopefully someone can help me because I have a lot of text to paste into a lesson.
This seems like such an elementary requirement and I am almost certain that I have done this before but...for some reason, copying text from Windows Notepad into a Captivate 5 text box just isn't working today.
Basically, the paste option is simply not available!
Yes, I can copy paste into other applications; Captivate is the only application that is blocking this Windows function.
If I insert a Text Entry Box, I am able to paste single lines of text (from Notepad) but obviously this isn't going to work as a text box.
Is this by design or has something gone haywire?

I have had that happen to me too. I am always copying and pasting into my Captivate projects. But sometimes the paste option is just not available. What I have done, is to save everything and close the application and start it again. Seems there's a lot of little irritating things like that with Captivate, that's corrected with a restart. Multiple Text Boxes into One Text Box

I need multiple text boxes to populate into one text box. I've got it to work with....

However, if the field is blank, it gives me a blank line.   What is the code if the box is "empty" to "skip" that text box?
Here is what I tried, but it takes everything away even if there is something in the textbox:

From the sample forms supplied with the Acrobat distribution CD, you can use the "fillin" function that can process up to 3 fields at one time and automatically adjust for null value fields and add an option separator string;

It looks like a lot of code, but it is easy to insert document level scripts into t pdf so the actual coding is not that much. And if one hase multiple fields that requrie multiple input fields, the coding task is even less compared to working out each field.

I wish to open and read from a text file into a text box in C# for the Windows Store using VS Express 2012 for Windows 8.
Can anyone point me to sample code and tutorials specifically for Windows Store using C#.
Is it possible to add a Text file in Windows Store. This option only seems to be available in Visual C#.

Why does Firefox send me back a few pages when I attempt to type into a text box???

I am sick and tired of this insane bug. It affects me on a daily basis. 20% of the time I attempt to type anything into any text box, for every keypress, Firefox will treat them as requests to 'go back' and it launches me several pages backwards through my browsing history in the tab. I then I have to skip forward and attempt filling it in again. It usually works after 1-2 attempts but like i said this is happening 20% of the time on text input forms, especially FARK.com.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Overset text will not go into the text box that is part of the master for the next page

I am trying to (first time user) set up a simple trade-paperback sized book with some photos. Have set up several masters for chapter title pages, chapter inner pages, etc. When I copy text out of Word into InDesign, (copy/paste) the text overset box appears. I load it, then go to the next page, which I have already formatted using one of the masters. But when I select the desired text box ((Ctrl/shft) and click, the overset text forms a new text box, What am I doing wrong? thanks

I have done, this did work right for at least the left side of the spread, but never for the right side -
Make sure the left and right page master page text frames are threaded View>Extras>Show Text Threads. Here I have left and right page text boxes threaded on my A-master spread:
Checking Smart Text Reflow can make adding long text to master frames easier:
With Smart Text Reflow enabled I've released the master page text box on page 1, note the released frame has a solid border, while the unreleased master page frames on subsequent pages are dotted indicating they are still master page items and not page items.

How to enter text into text box in Pages '09

When I manually select a text boxes in Pages, I can paste text into them. I can move from text box to text box using System Events to keystroke tabs but have not figured out how to get Applescript Editor to make the pastes. I am trying to use Applescript Editor to enter text into a pages document that is formatted for labels.

I have downloaded template U-0089-02_P.doc from Avery, 14 boxes displayed in two columns of seven rows.
Once you have clicked in the upper left box, the following script should enter text into every box, from left to right and top to bottom.

Brilliant. Thanks for the reply. The file I'm using is the same one I've been using as a emplate for about 3 years now, but I've recently upgraded to Windows 8 and re-installed my copy of InDesign onto that, so I could have inadvertantly flicked one of these settings on during setup.
I'll look through the properties or something and see if I can find the language settings.
