I don't see why you would do that, and what purpose it would serve.
Windows could access the drive of your Mini if you set it in Target Disk Mode,and connect the two machines with a FireWire cable. But Windows can't even see Mac formatted drives without a 3rd party software like MacDrive, so you would need to get that.
Also, a good chunk of the space on the Windows laptop is already taken by Windows and what ever software and files you have on it.
Backups take a lot of space and would fill the free space quickly.
All you need to backup your Mini is an external drive and Time Machine.
The larger the drive the better.

As long as you have a legitimate serial number, you can just download a trial version of the version you need from the public Adobe site, install it and input your valid serial number upon installing it.
You will need to apply all available updates, as all downloads are of the original release.
The Extended and the Standard version of Photoshop are one and the same binary. It's your serial number that makes it Extended or Standard.

The router is te network hub.
I have a network between my Linux box and my PC and my MBP because they are both hooked up the the same router. All you need is the "192.168.1.x" address of the destination box and the software needed for the type of conection (VNC, SSH, etc).
What helps is to set up "static routing" for all boxes so the IP address does not change. I have set up my Linux box to be 192.168.1.100 always, using the MAC (the ethernet abbreviation MAC, not Macintosh) in the router's "static routing" table.
Exactly which screens you need in the router depends on te router make and the internal management screens. The router maker should have either online (if they offer it past a 1 year from purchase) or online help found through Google. A MAC address is a set of 6 hexadecimal number separated by ":" -- an example (which I imagine will match *some* MAC *somewhere* is "6A:13:F2:72:E4:A1".

Certain iMacs support a mode known as Target Display Mode which allows them to function as an external display, but at the moment only other Macs with certain video out ports are supported as the primary (source) machine. You may find the following article helpful:

Linksys, iMac and a dell windows based laptop

I have a new iMac and a Lindsys wireless router (WRT54GS) that is there for use of my work Dell Laptop that is windows based.
When I but the cable directly into the mac, I get internet service through Comcast. But when I go through the router, I can't connect. Yesterday it worked through the Dell PC, but once I set-up the mac, it doesn't. My laptop recognizes the router, but since it's not connecting, I can't sign on to work stuff.
Does the router need to be reconfigured to recognize the mac? Hopefully this is a simple fix. Thanks to anyone who can help me!!!

Yes, you can connect directly to the router, even if you do not have an internet connection. You said you have a wrt54GS router. You need to get the latest firmware for that model which is 1.51.0 to solve your Mac problem. You probably have firmware 1.50.9 which has the same problem as firmware version 1.01.0 for the model wrt54G (ver 5 or 6). Just download the firmware to your desktop (You can do that with your Mac - just connect directly to the modem for the download, then reconnect to the router with an ethernet cable.) To upgrade the firmware, enter 192.168.1.1 in your browser (Safari works fine). If it asks for a username and password, leave the username blank and enter admin as the password. Then find the upgrade routine, point it at the downloaded firmware and upgrade. Note, you do not need to expand the firmware file, just download and point the upgrade routine at it. Make sure the upgrade is not interrupted as you can brick your router if you do - that's why you use an ethernet connection to the router. You may need to reset the router once or twice after upgrading.

Are you trying to set your email up on the iMac using mail? If so, you will some information from you IT department. Or you can try to setup and exchange server in mail and type your email account and password. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3748 if it's a POP account you will need to get the setup info from IT. You can use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to your server.

Thanks for your help. You were a big help and saved me hundred of hours in re-creating my itunes library of thousands of songs by downloading them again. I managed to get my purchases back using the instructions you provided and used the listing of software providers to download iRip and recover the rest of my music and playlists from both my iphone and ipod (I had different playlist on each). I basically recovered 99% of what I had lost so that was a huge help. Once you download iRip you really do use only one click to restore your iTunes library and playlists - super easy. Thanks again.

I want to manage my pc, which has Archlinux installed from a Windows 7 laptop when I'm in the faculty. I have installed rdesktop following the Wiki instructions (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rdesktop).
To know the IP address in the windows laptop, I use

in the system symbol konsole, and I get the following address:

Your first sentence implies you want use a windows machine to administer arch.
Assuming you actually want to use your arch machine to run windows, have you enabled remote desktop in windows, and given your user permission to connect remotely?
Also, when I last did this, I had to use the "less secure" Remote Desktop option in Windows, or use an unofficial rdesktop fork that supported NLA.

I then plugged this USB Disk into my Time Capsule, and configured Time Machine in both macs to use it through the network. But Time Machine insists on creating new backup sparsebundle files, ignoring the existing ones. You can't. Time Machine works differently over a network than it does with a locally-attached drive. What you could do is delete the folder named "Backups.backupdb" at the top level of the volume, which contains the backups you made via USB. You should then be able to backup to the same sparsebundle locally and over the network. But I wouldn't recommend doing that. Certainly don't do it unless you have at least one other complete backup (which you should have anyway.)
