Can Acrobat Reader DC be used on a Mac

Can Acrobat Reader DC be used on a Mac?  From what I read it appears to be for Microsoft only.

yes, Reader DC is available for Mac as well. You can download it from the Adobe website.

    If you could drag and drop pages before, it wasn't in Reader. You no doubt had Adobe Acrobat (Pro or Standard) which shouldn't be confused with Adobe Acrobat Reader. They recently added Acrobat to the name of Adobe Reader so the confusion about which product you had and/or have is understandable.

    can i read a book using windows 7

    Depends on the type of book.  an unprotected PDF Ebook or a a protected book for a reader that work on Windows yes.  (like A Kindle book in Kindle for Windows)
    A book bought from iBooks with DRM protection, no.  It can only be read within the iBooks application on an iDevice or Mac computer.
    No iBooks for Windows.

  • Can't read text file using UTL_FILE

    Hi All,
    how can I read notepad file using UTL_FILE package.I have specified the UTL_FILE_DIR in the init.ora file.My objective is to when a button is clicked, the contents of the file will display in a text item.Here is my code written in WHEN_BUTTON_PRESSED trigger.
    DECLARE
         file_handle UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;
    data_line Varchar2(100);
    BEGIN
         file_handle := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('E:\vimal','abc.txt','R');
              message('directory created');
         UTL_FILE.GET_LINE(file_handle, data_line);
         :block2.t1 := data_line;
         UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
    END;

    Why don't you use text_io? Don't forget that UTL_FILE is reading directories from the database point of view. The E drive for the database is a different E then on your client pc. I presume your database is on a different computer. Are you getting any errors?

    You can do a check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:

    Mark,
    I would be interested in knowing how you can decouple the obpmlogviewer.exe app from the OBPM Enterprise installation.
    How can I send a simple .zip file to others and tell them: "hey, unzip (or install) this only and you will be able to read OBPM engine logs files on your local machine" ?
    The logViewer executable can't be run without an enterprise install (at least not easily decoupled), however, an alternative, would be to pass someone the .jnlp and some log files.... To do this, open up the process admin, and in the top right, is a link for 'Launch Log Viewer'. Open that, and then go to 'File - Save As', and this will save a java executable to your computer.
    I'm pretty sure you can pass that, and either an admin user and password to view 'live' logs, or just have them cancel the remote log, and open a local file....
    Adam,
    PS: I don't see any opbmlogreader.exe or .sh or .bet in the OBPM_HOME\bin directory. I am looking at OBPM standalone, and the only relevant files I can see are obpmlogviewer.exe , obpmlogviewer.lax , lax.jar. Am I missing something?
    MaxI too don't have the log reader, however I do remember it... I'm thinking the .sh might only be included in the linux distribution of enterprise, so I'm downloading that now to verify... I will let you know what I find...

    O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
    I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
    I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
    This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
    I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).

  • Is adobe reader safe to use on a mac?

    is adobe reader safe to use on a mac? I've heard recently that there may be a problem with Adobe Reader on the Mac.

    Yes, Adobe Reader is safe to use. Download it directly from the Adobe site at http://get.adobe.com/reader/ .
    There was recently some malware that involved Adobe Flash, however, that has nothing to do with the Reader.

  • Extract data from the fields in Acrobat Reader 7.0 using VB

    I am looking for a way to extract fields values from the pdf file using VBA for Excel. I have Acrobat Reader 7.0. I have a script that would extract fields values from the PDF using Aformaut.fields.... But this script only works with Acrobat.Standard or PRO. When I am trying to instantiate/create Aformaut.app object I am getting an error message stating that ActiveX cannot create such object. Please advise.

    Five months have passed, so it's unlikely this reply will help the
    original poster. But should anyone be searching the archives, here's a
    reply anyway.
    Aformaut.app is part of Acrobat Professional. You have to buy that,
    you can't script this in the free Adobe Reader.

  • Can Acrobat Reader be run by batch file?

    I have Acrobat Reader 5.0 on an old laptop that I'm using just for an E-book reader (kind of like a Kindle...) and was wondering if I could write a batch-file to use as a shortcut/bookmark to open the book I'm reading in acrobat reader, then automatically set the page to what the bookmark says it is. Is this possible? Can I access the controls of Acrobat Reader (Specifically the page numbers) from a batch file?

    Try to open a command prompt and run just this line:
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" /a "page=147=OpenActions" "Riftwar 3 - Darkness At Sethanon.pdf"
    If that works, then the problem lies with something else in your batch, like the command that you placed before this line.
    If it doesn't, then try to see what the problem is. You might need to specify the entire path to your PDF, for example.
    Edit: Also, try removing "=OpenActions" from the command. It doesn't appear in earlier versions of the PDF Open Parameters reference and might cause problems with your version 5.

  • Can you reformat mini from use from a MAC, to use on a windows PC?

    Okay, here is the situation.
    I got my iPod Mini (Gold) a couple months back. First month it ran fine, uploaded songs from iTunes onto it fine, than I have to upgrade iTunes and my Mini to 1.4 . So, I do that and my iPod is no longer recognized by iTunes, but is recognized as removeable storage by Windows. So, I try everything in Support and everything I have found in this forum. Never fixed the problem.
    So, a while back I had the idea of using a cousins MAC computer since she has an iPod Mini also (except pink). So, music and everything upload to my iPod no sweat. So, than I take it back to my house a couple weeks later, very recent, to see if it will work with my Windows PC (I have XP). So, I try it and iTunes and Windows, as well as my iPod Updater, all recognize it. Than, I try and upload new songs onto it. I can't, because it says it can not read or write onto my iPod. So, I try to restore it to factory settings, but the Updater comes back with a "Firmware update failure. Disk write error". So, I start looking through Apple's iPod support, and see that if I format my iPod to a MAC, it will no longer be able to be read or written on by a Windows. At least, that's what I thought after reading it.
    Is this true? Since I "guess", I formatted it to a MAC computer, I can't use it with my Windows PC? What the heck is that! Does anyone know how to reformat my iPod and be able to use it with my Windows PC?

    Unfortunately, I can not do that.
    I tried using my Windows (Latest and original iPod Updater), and see for youself what I got:
    Original Updater:
    and with the Newest Updater, I got:

    Can I Down Load IE8 for use on my Mac - I have sites that I have to sign into and neither Firefox nor Safari will allow sign in or even open site.
    Thanks
    GGB

    All other browsers have some means for changing the user agent string. This MAY be enough if the site is only checking for a specific browser for one of a host of reasons. If the site uses some kind of IE specific code, then a simple user agent string change won't help, and you're pretty much stuck.

  • Clearview reader highlight save used on 2 macs

    i have a NAS i save all my files on and i have some epubs saved there. i was on my mac laptop and highlighted some text and when i went to my other mac the text is not highlighted. can someone help. ive tried using the epub file on my macbook then copying it to the nas and opening it back up on my imac and it still does not work. is there a way to use the epub on both with the same highlighted text and notes. i have clearview 1.2.2 and snow leopard 10.6.8
    thanks in advance.
    I've searched the web and there's not much info on clearview.

    Hi Roddy,
    Trashed at iWeb preferences (on both Macs) Then,iInterestingly, I logged out of MobileMe, rebooted as a precaution and then (on my MobileMe-aimed Mac), decided to publish to a local folder. I published the site a total of three times to different folders and EACH time ended up with only about 90% of the correct contents! Typically around 30Mb of each site was missing, and it wasn’t always the same content either! iWeb ‘08 wasn’t totally brilliant, but at least it was consistent! The NavBars and some of the Photo Albums were the most common areas of failure to publish, along with the Blog and associated Scripts.
    So far I have not been able to publish the site to MobileMe at all using iWeb ‘09. I still get an unspecified error. Even checking the logs gives no indication of where the problem lies. I’ve fired off a report to Apple but it’s early days yet…
    I do hate it when something that basically works fairly well (iWeb ‘08) is “tweaked” and the whole shooting match falls apart. Smacks of poor planning and testing in the real world. However, on the up side, I find iPhoto ‘09 to be superb, but haven’t tried iDVD ‘09 or iMovie ‘09 yet as I don’t want to become too disappointed too soon.
    So far all my sites are working and uncorrupted, simply because none of the publishing gets that far!
    However, any help or suggestions would be most welcome.
