Can Acrobat Standard append to an existing file when saving?  Can Pro?

Hello all,
I'm wondering if Adobe Acrobat Standard has the function to save to an existing file. I don't mean append two PDF's together after they are already created. I mean I already have a PDF document which I need to add lots of additional pages to. So when creating additional PDF's, I want to be able to tell Acrobat to add those files to the end of the document I already have.
PrimoPDF has this feature which would be a real time-saver in my line of business. In that program, you simply choose the same filename when asked to save the document. It then prompts you to overwrite or append-to the existing file. For business reasons, it would be very advantageous to use Acrobat rather than Primo. Does anyone know if Acrobat Standard can do this? If not, does Pro do it? Thanks for your time. I appreciate any feedback I get.
Chris

Never tried that... you might read in the Acrobat Pro User Guide Online

  • Overwrite previous existing file when saving...

I'm running Snow Leopard. I can't for the life of me find a way to "overwrite" an existing file - either when I drag the updated file into the Finder window, OR when I save to a particular folder. I am used to Windows, where you get a prompt saying "a file by this name already exists, do you want to replace the file or rename?"....or some such thing. How do I do this in OSX - I'm sick of files just automatically saving with a new extenmsion in the name, like: "file#1.pdf" or some such thing.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

What you want is what should be happening. The options are these:
    1. Open a file; modify it and hit command-s or choose 'Save' from the File menu: the amended file overwrites the original.
    2. Open a file; modify it and hit 'Save as' - leave the filename unchanged: you will get this warning:
    3. Open a file, modify it and hit 'Save as' - leave the filename unchanged but save it somewhere else. Then drag it to the original location and you will get this warning:
If this is not what is happening then you have a fault condition. It may be that the file's permissions have been incorrectly set. Select the file, hit command-i and scroll down to 'Sharing and permissions' and check that you have been set to read and write. You could also boot from your install disk - don't start an install, but choose 'Disk Utility' from the 'Utilities' menu and run a Disk Repair.

  • Mavericks renames existing files when saving or backing up as "untitled"

I use MYOB to run a small business. I tend to email invoices to clients and therefore will save the recorded invoice to disk. In this case and under lion, I would get the invoice number as the suggested name for the file, I would then backspace the hilighted invoice number ie(Inv0001234) add the clients surname to that filename and then save to drop box for collation and then final emailing out. eg (AppleseedInv0001234). Now under Mavericks the name of any saved invoice is "untitled". Unless I note the invoice number before saving, I have to reopen the invoice within MYOB to record it and add that to the filename. This also happens to the backup file for MYOB instead of the default being the name of the business file and a back up date as before, I just get "untitled". Is there a seeting that nees to be turned on or is this the new way to do things.
    Thanks

    Hi chrisb64054279,
Are you referring to files stored in your Acrobat.com online account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files? If so, what happens when you try to delete the files? Are you receiving an error message?
Please provide a few more details about the issue that you're encountering, including what operating system you're on, and what browser you're using (if any). We'll get this sorted out.
    Best,

    Hi Dcee3,
Acrobat Standard has not been developed for Mac platform so Mac version is not available. It can only run on windows machine.

  • Append existing file when export to Excel

Using the command line, I run a Disco report to get the current selling prices from orders scheduled to ship in the next few days and export the results to an Excel file. Is there a modifier I can use that would allow me to append to the Excel file instead of overwriting?

Thanks, Michael. I figured since it wasn't in the Oracle documentation it wasn't available but thought I'd ask anyway.

  • Disable "Overwrite existing files" when upload doument

    Dear team,
in document library, when upload document, i don't want the document to overwrite the documents with the same name.
there is chekbox in upload page, that is default checked, I searched and some people said that I can update the upload page, find the checkbox control, and set the value to false, so i update the value in Upload.aspx and Uploadex.aspx page to change the
    value.
but after changing the value, I cannnot open the upload page successfully, it always shows error.
    Did I do anything wrong?

    Hi Greetings.
This is not the right procedure
Scording to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to override SharePoint OOTB Upload.aspx default for " Overwrite existing files" checkbox.
We can use the AdditionalPageHead delegate control to change the default without modifying upload.aspx.
There is an article for your reference, although it is about the WSS3.0, it still works for SharePoint 2013: Turn Default Upload Overwrite Off in WSS 3.0
Please follow the steps as below:
Download the solution file form here
Copy the wps file to the Disk C.
Open the SharePoint 2013 Management Shell.
    Run the command: add-spsolution c:\ DefaultUploadOverwriteOff.wsp
Open the Center Administration, click System Setting->Manage Farm Solution-> dp.sharepoint.workflow.wsp->Deploy to one or more Web Application.
Open the site, clilck Site settings-> Site collection features-> Default Upload Overwrite Off->Active.
Open the library, the 'overwrite existing files' checkbox will be unchecked.

  • Can't create new folder in home folder when saving files

In gnome, when I want to save any file in my home folder, and I want to create a new folder in my own home. The new folder appeares for several minutes and then disappears.
If I create new folder in other directory. There is no such problem.
Also I can create new folder in my own home directory in nautilus or by mkdir.
    any one can help me.....
    Thanks very much....

I think either way should work OK - it's less of a security risk to use a standard account for "everything", including web browsing, but I confess I don't myself do this. You would again have to authenticate with an admin username/password if you do download and install from the standard account.

    It includes the following:
If you have multiple user accounts on your Mac, the user account that downloaded the file is the only user account that can remove the quarantine attribute to the file. All other user accounts can open the quarantine file, but they will be presented with the quarantine dialog box asking "Are you sure you want to open it?" every time they open the file.

  • Why can't I print out a PDF file when I am on Firefox? It takes me to Preview to print instead of staying on Firefox.

When I go to a website that has a PDF file and try to print it, it sends me to Preview and when I try to print, the computer freezes up. This does not happen on Safari. Why can't I print a PDF file when I am on Firefox?

To print a PDF, you need to use the print command from the PDF reader plugin instead of firefox's one. If there is no icons bar in the plugin, try right-click on a page from the pdf -> Print.

  • Can you export a Quick Time REFERENCE file from Final Cut Pro X?

Used to be in FCP-7, you could export your timeline and at the bottom of the Export dialog box, there was a check box where you could check "Make the movie self-contained," which would export a full Quick Time .mov file, or you could UNCHECK that box and FCP would export a Quick Time REFERENCE file (referencing the source media used within the timeline), which you could then bring in to any one of a number of different encoding apps.
I prefer to use Sorenson Squeeze to do my encoding, as it's much, much faster than Compressor and has infinitely more format options (Flash, Windows Media, Real, etc., etc.).
But now, I don't see a way to export a Quick Time Reference file from the Final Cut Pro timeline, er, uh, storyline, er, uh, project.
Anybody know if there's a way to export a Quick Time REFERENCE file (not a full Quick Time .mov)?

I do the same thing with Final Cut Express, actually.  Only I then open the reference file up in QuickTime Pro and re-export it to an h.264 mp4.  I can do that multiple times in the background vs. getting caught up in Final Cut's pathetically non-threaded user interface when it's saving/exporting.
I was going to ask the exact same question here, but you beat me to it.  And so far it sounds like the answer is "no" ... :-(
