Can adding a patch disable CPU boards?

Recently, I installed patch#'s 118371-06, 126868-02, 139459-01 and 119059-46 (along with recommended dependencies) on a v880 running Solaris 10. The system was put in single user mode and the patches applied. However, when the system was rebooted, we were returned to the lom prompt and the message, "no usable cpu board in domain" was displayed. When our Sun rep arrived, he said the problem was that the CPU boards had been disabled. He generated a password, logged into the lom and did a, setchs -s ok for each card. My question, is whether one of the patches caused this condition or a separtate underlying condition brought it about. Your thoughts or similar experience is welcomed. Best regards to all.

Sorry I'm so late in responding ... I tried the displacement map a couple of days ago and had trouble using it. This tutorial is just what I needed. Thanks for the response!

How can I remove a Disabled Extension not compatible with Firefox 4.0.1? I just want to remove it... I don't want to wait for a compatible update. Why can't I remove it?

When I upgraded from 3.XX to 4.0.1, it informed me that 2 extensions were not compatible and it never gave me the option to remove them. Firefox 4.0.1 disabled them and now I'm not able to remove them.
Also they were added by Acrobat Pro X (Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.0) and Nokia Ovi Suite (Firefox Synchronisation Extension 7.3.4.51).
These extensions won't probably be updated unless they update the software that installed them. With this said, How can I remove the disabled extensions? Why it doesn't give me a button to remove them to start with?

I think it's not the problem of compatibility. Extensions installed into Windows registry won't have a remove button ( or it's greyed out ). For these extensions, you can have a look into these keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
If you are under a 64bit OS as I am, you may also try this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
And you may find the registry entries corresponding to the extensions you want to remove. Just export them to a backup.reg, then delete these entries. Firefox will do the rest, but it seems that fx still leaves extensions.rdf untouched. You can also delete the RDF entries corresponding to those extensions inside extensions.rdf

BUT the Wow6432Node key wasn't mentioned in the above article
I had to search the registry to find out the entry corresponding to a Fiddler2 extension, then I found the Wow6432Node key. I also saw the Nokia Ovi Suite entry beside the Fiddler2 entry.

Disable CPU core in Solaris 10

can anybody help me to disable cpu core in solaris 10. my server is Sparc T4-1 server (1 physical processor with 8 core 64 threads). I am able to disable threads using psradm, but not sure about disabling core.

You can disable a single core in solaris using "psradm -f <cpu id>"
man page for psradm
The psradm utility changes the operational status of proces-
sors. The legal states for the processor are on-line, off-
line, spare, faulted, and no-intr.
An on-line processor processes LWPs (lightweight processes)
and can be interrupted by I/O devices in the system.
An off-line processor does not process any LWPs. Usually, an
off-line processor is not interruptible by I/O devices in
the system. On some processors or under certain conditions,
it might not be possible to disable interrupts for an off-
line processor. Thus, the actual effect of being off-line
might vary from machine to machine.
A spare processor does not process any LWPs. A spare proces-
sor can be brought on-line, off-line or to no-intr by a
privileged user of the system or by the kernel in response
to changes in the system state.
Example 1 Setting Processors to off-line
The following example sets processors 2 and 3 off-line:
% psradm -f 2 3
Example 2 Setting Processors to no-intr
The following example sets processors 1 and 2 no-intr:

Run following command , it will give you list of patches installed on Oracle Home
cd ORACLE_HOME/OPatch
opatch lsinventory
For patchset and CPU patch , check/query DBA_REGISTRY_HISTORY

DBMS_XDBZ0 invalid after adding the patch

Hi All,
After I have added the patch MLR BUG FOR 10.1.0.5 FOR CPUAPR2007, for my database 10g R1 10.1.0.5, the DBMS_XDBZ0 is invalid.
I have tried recompile it but it is still invalid.
What can I do?

Support Package>Load Packages>From front end. I see the menu as disabled.

Hi Rahul,
Dont use sap* or ddic users just create a admin user with the profiles sap_all,sap_new then login to the client 000 using this user,Prior uploading this you have to uncar the support package files,just uncar them using sapcar -xvf xxx.car
then try uploading them using the spam this time you just select upload from application server.Might be the support package would be greater than 10MB so you can not upload it from frontend.Hope this helps.

Adding a Patch to a Pocket and keeping the Folds and Wrinkles - CS3

I have a photo of a gentleman wearing a typicl denim shirt and I would like to add a patch, or an emblem, to the shirt pocket. I would like the patch to follow the contours of the shirt, including the folds and wrinkles. How can that be done in CS3? Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't looking for an automated way to get the job done. I tried using the transform tools last week, and the results were OK for the specific image I was working on, but something else (displacement filter?) might be better still. Have to play around with that.

I don't think of an easy automated way to do it. I'd probably paste it on there, maybe distort / transform it a bit as needed (e.g., if the wrinkles are deep), then use the Burn and Dodge tools to add subtle shading to make it look believable.

How can i identify patch number ? My DB version is 10.2.0 is , what's my patch release no ?

patches Patches are software programs for individual BUG FIXES. Oracle issues product fixes software, usually it is called as patches.
patche SetsA group of patches form a patch set. Patch sets are usually applied to upgrade oracle version. EX ( 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 )
If my DB needs patch ,I want to upgrade DB , version to Version (10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.4)
If my oracle S/w needs patch ,A small collection of files are replaced to fix certain bugs , when aaplying patch into my oracle S/w
When applying patch/patch sets , what affected my database directly ?It depends upon patch ..

I read , If i applied PSU patch , i can't apply CPU patch ( until dB upgade to new version)- What's the specific reason here ?
If someone applied a patch on my DB , how can identify what type of patch applied on my DB ? (if it is PSU or CPU)- I mean how can i identify , whether the patch was PSU or CPU ?
How can i differentiate both patches when seeing ?

Upgrading CPU board on sunfire V490

Hi All,
im trying to upgrade a sunfire v490 by installing a second CPU board.
I have the 1st board fully populated of 2 GB RAM in 16 slots (total: 32 GB) and the 2nd one containing 1GB RAM in 8 slots (total: 8GB)
However, im getting POST errors when i startup the server with both boards. I tried to swap boards among slots => same results.
Whenever i try to boot with each CPU board alone => no problems were found.
Kindly assist please if any helpful suggestion.

- The minimum V490 and V890 OS is Solaris 8 2/04, Solaris 9 4/04, or Solaris 10 3/05.
- Sun Fire V490 and V890 OBP >=4.15 Version 6 is required.

- The 1350MHz UltraSPARC IV is not supported in the Sun Fire V480 or V880.

Pismo CPU board loose

Hi!
I repaired a Pismo this evening. The problem was that it crashed when you touched it more than very gently, adjusting the display angle was impossible for instance.
What I did was to remove the CPU board and replace it and that solved the problem. Apparently the connector had come loose in some way.
So if anyone has a similar problem, don't throw you pismo away, the solution could be really simple.

If the cpu isn't properly reseated after, say, upgrading RAM, this can be a relatively common problem. It takes pretty firm pressure to properly seat the board, and (understandably) many are hesitant to push too hard. The trick is removing the RAM above the connection point before pushing (so as not to push on and break the RAM) and then using a slightly jiggling motion while applying steady pressure with two fingers directly above the connection point, so as to ease it down until firmly seated. When proper seating takes place, one should feel it settle in.

Qosmio X770-11C - how to disable on board speakers when using Line Out?

Hi,
Is there any way to disable on board speakers when the line out is used.
Currently if I plug in a cable to the hadphone socket and choose lineout on the realtek control panel, the sound is output to the line out as expected but also through the internal speakers.
Is there any way to stop this, and only have sound going out through the line out?

If you want to hear sound on headset only you must choose Headphone option.
Disconnect cable and connect it again. When you see small window on the screen where you can choose between headphone and line out options choose headphone and you will hear sound on external device only.
In case you have disabled this popup dialog you can activate it manually. Open Realtek manager connect external device and when you see activated black point on the right side make double click there and change settings.

MSI NF980-G65 - How to disable on-board video? (EVGA says to do this?) GTX260

I need your help.
Just upgraded my system to use MSI's NF980-G65 SLI board. I only have 1 EVGA GTX260 card right now and I purchased this board so I could add another GTX260 later this spring. The GTX260 worked on my last ASUS board just fine but the NF980-G65 doesn't see it.. at least I think it doesn't see it. I can boot off the mother board video fine, Windows 7 x64 boots up fine but doesn't see my gtx card in the device list it does report vid as (nforce 980 sli) or something like that. When I power off and plug my monitor into my GTX260, the video does not work (the system continues to boot and I can hear the windows7 start up music), I've tried both video terminals on the card but nothing. EVGA says if my mother board has on-board video that I'll need to disable it and the card will work (I did not have to do this on my last board though, but that board was not an SLI board either). BUT when I go into the bios there is no option to turn off the on-board video? Is this right? Does anyone know how to do this or am I missing something? I've done allot of research on line and there were a few post saying that even with only one card installed that I will only use the mother board video plug only... is this right? Is windows not suppose to report my video card as being a GTX260 but as a 980 SLI? Sorry I'm new to this SLI stuff.

The system seems to work fine with the on-board video. I used the MSI auto updater to make sure all drivers and the bios are up to date and nothing reported back as needing updating, all though when I searched MSI's site manually there is a newer bios available but haven't dared install it yet.
Is there anyone out there that runs this board with only 1 GTX card? Does your system see it? Help!

In the "Chipset Feature" there is no disable on board VGA listed. It list these items only.
HPET [Disabled]
Hybrid SLI Support [Disabled]
VGA Share Memory Auto [Auto]
VGA Share Memory [64M]
I've tried disabling the VGA Share memory, but on boot the mother board gives me a set of 5 or so beeps and then no video works. I have to reset the CMOS after that, so I can see the bios setup screen again.
The above settings is how the board came stock and it's how it returns after I do a reset. I'm starting to wonder if the PCI-E slots are not functioning or my GTX260 got fried moving from one mother board to another (I'm always strapped to ground when I work on electronics). I'll go through the motions tonight to put my asus board back in and test my GTX card. If it works after the swap and you guys have no other suggestions I'll send the board back to MSI for repair. If the board is bad then this will be my last MSI board, over the last 5 years I've gone through 3 MSI mother boards. MSI always has the features I want but I just don't have the luck with them. My last board (ASUS) doesn't support SLI or I'd still be using it... maybe it's time to go ATI and the crossfire route... I hope not, I'm a real big Nvidia fan.

More than likely its a hardware issue, I have never encountered such a problem and best bet is to just go get it replaced. If you have insurance on your device apple will replace it as long as there was no water damage, if you dont have insurance they will charge $200 more or less. Hope you get it fixed

Can I buy a new Logic Board for an iBook G3 700 12"?

The Logic Board in my iBook G3 700 12" just died. My local reseller says it doesn't qualify for the replacement program.
Anyone know where can I get a NEW Logic Board for my iBook?
I don't like the thought of buying a used on on eBay and having the same problem 6 months from now.
