Can address book use aperture faces?

Saw that Lion Address Book can use a link to iPhoto faces.  Upgraded to Aperture some time ago - is there any way of having Address Book look for the Aperture faces instead of iPhoto?

I've recently switched from Eudora to Apple Mail and I'm trying to understand Apple's Address Book.
I've entered some of my contacts with nicknames (Eudora provided the option of giving a contact a nickname) but whenever I send an email in Mail and add a contact it doesn't find by nickname plus it enters the person's full name (including middle initial) not nickname.
Questions:
1. Does the name of the contact <not the email address> in my Mail client and sent email have any impact on how the incoming message appears to the addressee?
yes. they will see the name that you use when composing the message so be careful with your nicknames.
2. Is there a way to search and show as the name of contact in the To frame just the nickname?
not that I know of.
3. If the addressee's incoming email name is influenced by how I enter their name in my Address Book, do I then need to have multiple entries for the same person if I use their full name for snail mail and short or nickname for email?
yes.
Thank you.

  • Add or edit address book using Desktop Manager

Is there any way that I can add or edit my address book using the Desktop software? I would like to input email addresses and other information into my address book on my blackberry without having to type everything in on the blackberry. I was hoping there would be a way to do that on my PC and have it sync to my phone.

he following steps will help you to configure synchronization -
Connect your device using Desktop Manager and click on Synchronization
From the menu on the left click Synchronization under Configuration
Again click Synchronization button on the right which will give you option to Select Device Application that you want to synchronize
Put the check mark and you'll get a prompt to Select Desktop Application
Highlight the application name and click next button
Under Synchronization Option you get Direction of Synchronization
Check the radio button with Two way sync
Note: above mentioned steps are explained as per Desltop Manager 4.5
    Example: Synchronize addressbook -
Connect you HH with your desktop Manager in your PC. If you device is set to wireless sync then you need to turn off wireless synchronization. To do so go to Address Book -> click Menu -> Options -> Wireless Synchronization: No -> click Menu and Save the changes.
Click on the Synchronize button on Desktop Manager -> Click on Configuration Tab then click on Configure Synchronization -> Click on Choose under Address Book (on the right side of the pop up window) -> Click on you organizer apps (like, MS outlook, Lotus notes etc) -> Select desired apps -> select Synchronization radio button and click OK twice go back to Synchronize tab ->click on Synchronize Now.

  • Renamed meeting room not resolving and people can still book using old name.

I have renamed a meeting room ( using power shell) and restricted the resource in policy requests to a limited list as per an users request.  The issue is that people can still book it, I'm told, using its old name including people not on the list of
    resource in policy requests.
I can see that resource in EMC with the new name. When I go to outlook and setup a new meeting, I can type in the old name and it will resolve and underscore, but the new name does not. I have updated address lists using powershell and have downloaded the
offline address book using outlook.  I still cannot get the new name to resolve.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
It should be OAB issue, restart the SA and MSFDS service and manually download the OAB again on the Outlook. It should be fine this time.

Have been using Juno for email for years. Juno Internet program on my PC locally stores address book and saved emails in local folders. Want to switch to Thunderbird for emails. Can address book and local folders stored via Juno program be copied to Thunderbird? If so, how, plz.

If you are installing TB on the same computer as the Juno mail, the installation / start-up process offers the choice to import from another mail program.

  • Exporting hotmail contacts to Address Book using numbers

Hi, I've been reading some other topics on how to export your contacts to address book. Though these were helpful, I do not have microsoft excel. Is it possible to get my hotmail contacts to my address book using numbers or do I need excel.

    Hello,
If you go into Entourage's preferences, you'll also find the option to "Synchronize" with Address book.
The option is under the Entourage menu
    Choose Preferences
Then, go to General, and choose Sync Services
The option you need should be the first option in the list on the Sync Services screen.
It should have a box to check located next to: "Synchronize Contacts with Address Book and .Mac".
    Give that a shot.
    I hope this helps.

  • I want to use Apple print to print a square book - using Aperture.  How?

I want to use Apple print to print a SQUARE format book - using Aperture.  How?

I want to use Apple print to print a SQUARE format book - using Aperture.  How?
Not with Aperture. You have to use the new Photos for Mac, if you want to print a square book with Apple's Print services.
You could collect  the images you want in the book in an album, export the albums a s a new Aperture library, open the album Photos, and create your book.
Or create a custom book in aperture, print the pages of the book to JPEG, import the jpegs to Photos and use them as full page photos to create a photo book in Photos.

  • Can I still use Aperture to buy books

Photos does not seem to have any editing tools of note for creating Books like Aperture. If I use Aperture to create a book can I still buy one or must I use only Photos now?

I have used iWeb without MobileMe for several years now. I use wordpress for my blog which i perfer to iWeb's blog if for no other reason than it can be updated via the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad when on the go.
You can continue to use iWeb to create & maintain website however, you will need to find a 3rd party webhost for your website, I have been using IX Webhosting for several years now with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across.

  • Unable to access emails and address book using Firefox 5, but not using explorer

Since installing the latest updated version of Firefox, I can log into my Tiscali email account, but once there I cannot open my emails. Instead of saying 'You have (number) new emails' it says 'You have unspecified new emails'. If I click on Inbox or 'Check new mail', nothing happens at all. Also, if I try to access my address book either to read or edit it again nothing happens.
Emails works perfectly well using Windows Explorer, which would suggest that the problem does not lie with my ISP (Talktalk) or my Tiscali email account.

You can install both your accounts in Thunderbird and then simply move messages from one to the other. You then have the choice to continue using Thunderbird, or to switch using Gmail via its own website.
Address Books are a bit harder to transfer. I'd suggest you go to the msn account, in your browser, and seek options to download or export your address book there. I expect it will offer CSV as an option, and vcard format is a possibilty. Both of these can be imported into Thunderbird and into Gmail.

  • Critical error in my address book using Nokia OVI ...

I downloaded Nokia OVI Suite (NOS) on Oct 3 2009. I synchronized all available elements: Address Book, Messages, Notes Photos etc.
Then (after some days) I sync. My E71 with Outlook by using (old and trusty) Nokia PC Suite.
After a day I realized that some! of the phone numbers of some! of my contacts disappeared. I can't tell which and how many details (data-element/s) in each contact data were deleted. I can only tell that all contacts are still there, but some of them with no phone number or missing phones.
I know that if I was aware of  this problem before sync. To Outlook, I could have saved most of my data.
I also found a full backup of my E71 dated 16 Aug. 2009.
I have about 1,200 contacts and I can't tell which was damaged and what is that damage.
Can somebody help me to recover this problem?
Message Edited by avx1 on 07-Oct-2009 02:10 PM
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

ovi suite is still a great IDEA and emergency back-up for if you loose your phone while traveling to sync most information on the go, but not great for your regular syncing.
PC Suite is solid. though the mapping is still off with regards to the zip codes.  it formats the zip code to go before the city on the address field.
if you are going to use ovi suite, i would only suggest using it to sync your pictures, download the maps information, but nothing else.
it will mix up your contacts information as well.  ie-if you have more then one email address on a contact, it often will duplicate the email address and erase one of them, especially if you are using multiple products to sync.
your best bet is to reload from your previous backup of contacts and resync to your outlook with pc suite.
note that even with using pc suite on multiple pc's with outlooks, that you will still have some challenges with duplicating, etc regarding appointments in calendars and/or contacts that you have deleted may resurface...so i have found the best thing to do is to make one master pc, and then only do a 1 way sync from the phone to the pc on the other pc's.
i agree with the above poster that i am also 100% sure it was OVI suite that did it.

  • What sort order does address book use?

I'm trying to be able to sort things "after" the alphabet in a standard address book "sort by name" sort order. So aA to zZ then other stuff. In a standard ASCII sort, ~ would work - but that's been changed in Thunderbird.
So far I've been trying to find out what comes after "Z" in the sort order, but have been unable to do so.
It's not following ANY standard sort order that I've been able to determine.
It's sorting 0xF7 (÷) in front of 0x5A (Z). It's even sorting Unicode U+FEFC *before* U+005A in an "ascending" order??
Was the standard sort order hacked so that anything that isn't alphabetical comes first, which means that if I want to have something sort after "Z" I HAVE to use zz or zzz instead of what works in every other program I use? Even ~ sorts before the alphabet, yet even in standard ASCII it sorts after.
Anyone know of an add-on that fixes this "helpful" hack and gives me a predictable, dependable, and above all documented sort order?

I think my only comment at this point can be "my, that escalated quickly!!".
Thanks for the pointers and information. Unfortunately, I'm now lost in too much mostly incomprehensible information. However, the tr03.pdf doc you provided I think had the answer.
If I understand it correctly, this (new to me) sorting mechanism means that nothing comes after Z any more? (based on the PDF file you gave me, part 3.0 intro, order of characters). Is that correct?
Actually, I think I'd consider this "solved", or at least "answered".
    Thank you.

are you having issues with the initial login, or is hotmail successfully taking your information, but failing to remember it when you access more of the site for address book information gathering?
If the first part is happening, you're probably not setting up your connection within a SSL environment correctly (I'm only guessing that's what hotmail uses, as I'm not a hotmail user). There's plenty of documentation on apache's jakarta site on how to do this/troubleshoot it.
If you're connecting, and it's not holding the information, then the cookie storing is not set up right. In that case, you may want to post a new topic more specifically relating to cookies (probably want to do it in the networking section of these forums, as it's far more pertinent there).
I wish I could help you more, but I am far more familiar with instantiating web connections via the UrlConnection class, and not with the Jakarta Commons libraries. :(
