Can Adobe Acrobat XI recognize scientific and mathematical symbols?

Can Adobe Acrobat XI recognize scientific and mathematical symbols when using "Text recognition"? We have professors at our university who wnat to have PDFs with readable/recognizable formulas.

The requirements are given at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/tech-specs.html and VISTA is not listed. I have heard from others that AA XI indeed is not compatible with VISTA, but does run with XP,SP3 and newer systems. If you are unsuccessful, all I know to suggest is to upgrade your OS, but that may mean a new machine too. Sorry.

The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
What can I do?

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
- Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
- Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

i think it is bad new for you. if it's any consilation i went through the same thing when i loaded mountain lion when it first came out. i think the problem is that mountain lion is a pure 64bit operating system and the software you have is 32bit. earlier os's were able to emulate 32bit but the new system does not. the answer is new software. i did it and it cost me a load of money and much angst so your not alone.

For MS Visio (any version) only the appropriate version of Acrobat *PRO* provides PDFMaker for Visio.
For Visio 2013 specifically you must have Acrobat XI Pro (updated to at least 11.0.1).

This plug-in is installed as part of the Acrobat X or Reader X installation. The location of this plug-in is:

but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
unable to open these pdf.
Does anybody knows anything else I can do?

Since when are you facing this issue? Did you tried system restore to a date before this problem occured.
Does acrobat stop working when you open this specific pdf file or with any pdf file that you open?

If you have Acrobat, there is no need for Reader. Acrobat 8 is not certified for use on Win8.1, only Acrobat XI. You can get the current cost from the Adobe Store at Adobe.com. The cost is a per computer license. If you have a lot of computer, you might be able to negotiate with Adobe on a volume order or site license (for so many licenses) -- you would have to call Adobe on that.
AA 8 can be made to work in some cases, but I would not recommend it in a business environment. It is not worth risking some hickup with software that is marginally compatible when you have some deadline or such.

Hello! I just purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Student and Teacher Edition. I don't know how to find the product to download on my account, it seems not to be there. So I tried to license the trial version I have on my computer with the product key I got in the email. But then it is not possible because I tried a Swedish version. The version I bought was only possible to buy in English so there is a mismatch between them and nothing happens. Acrobat 11 is (supposedly) going to have better editing tools. Acrobat X
(and earlier versions) are not really meant to be used to edit the
underlying content of a PDF. For that you should go back to the original
document, edit it there, and then re-create the PDF.
