Can Adobe convert ODF to PDF?

Would like to convert my ODF files to Adobe PDF files. Would Adobe capable to convert the ODF files to PDF?

In Mac version go to File Menu > Print > PDF (hold button down until context menu pops up choose Adobe PDF.
Follow items that come on the screen.
First screen is equivalent to Job Options in Distiller. And choose whether to open Acrobat, Reader when finished.
Next screen name the file and choose desired location, then hit save.  This uses the Adobe Engine Not Apple's PDF engine which is somewhat broken.

  • I can't convert a large PDF to Word - what's wrong?

I’m trying to convert a 22MB PDF file and it fails. The only message I get is ‘there was an error’ or something like that after spending over 2-hours (or so) under the status of ‘converting file to Word using Adobe ExportPDF on-line’.  My first though was the size, but saw that there is a 100MB limit.  If my PDF (from a good source) has a password or permissions preventing the conversion, would ExportPDF state that upfront as the reason it did not convert?  What should I try or what are my options to convert this PDF to Word?

    Hi Gary,
I would like to help! If you don't mind - send me the file directly and I can take a look. My e-mail address is: [email protected]
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

  • Batch Sequences can't convert 10.000 pdf-files at one time

I have Acrobat Professional 7.0 and I am running on Windows XP.
To convert from PDF to EPS I am using Advanced - Batch processing - Batch Sequences.
Every week I have around 5.000 PDF-files which have to convert to EPS without any problems.
Sometimes I have more than 10.000 PDF-files. After converting to EPS I thought Acrobat Pro was finishing to convert all the PDF, but if I look at the number of EPS, it seems Acrobat Pro didn't convert them all and it didn't give any error message.
This always happened when I have more than 10.000 PDF-files.I think Batch sequences cannot convert above 10.000 files at one time.
Is this a known issue? Is there any solution?

File > Export >  Export Multiple Files will work as well.
You can choose your conversion settings in Edit > Preferences > General > Convert from PDF.

  • Can I convert an existing pdf to mp3

Does Acrobat have the ability to convert pdf to mp3 built in? If not, are there other programs I can acquire that will do it? If there are other programs, can you recommend a product that works well with Adobe?
I recently purchased a guidebook for WordPress. It was delivered as a 300-page, 14 MB pdf book. It is 95% text with a few screen shots. It would help me if I could also listen to the text while I drive 2 hrs every day. Thank you.

No it doesn't. There is a 'read out loud' accessibilty tool but it won't produce audio files.
If the book's security permits it you can export the PDF as a plain text file and use a third-party text-to-speech application.

  • Can't convert files to pdf using Acrobat 8 Standard or 9 Pro

I am having a major problem. I have tried converting both Word 2003 and Excel 2003 documents to pdf using Acrobat 8 Standard (I can't recall which version because I uninstalled and installed a trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro) and Acrobat 9 Pro. I have tried to convert directly from the open document and through Acrobat using create from file. In every instance the process starts and then stops after a few moments. When I try the conversion from within Acrobat, I get the following error message: " Pdf conversion failed, please correct the error and retry." When I try the conversion directly from Word or Excel, the conversion starts, stiops suddenly and gives no error message.  I have had Acrobat 8 Standard installed for a couple of years. It worked fine on this computer until the problem started a week ago or so. There have been no software or hardware changes that woudl trigger suspicion.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 8 Standard version. I have uninstalled the 8 Standard version and installed the 9 Pro trial version. I have run the repair module on both versions. I'm sure it is something simple but I just can't figure out what the "error" is that I need to "correct". Any suggestions?
As an aside, I have several Adobe programs (Photoshop CS5, Contribute 3 and Acrobat), all of them expensive. Their business model of offering no unpaid support (even for this type of problem) is one reason I hate Adobe more than Microsoft... but I rant.

When you uninstalled, you should have used the MS Installer Cleanup utility. It cleans up a lot of the junk left over in the registry. You should have also deleted the Acrobat folder. Then you would reinstall. You did not indicate your OS and it may be that you need to update the AA8 to get it to work correctly. Also, the installs and uninstalls can mess up your registration process if you are not careful. If you uninstall the AA9 trial, you will not be able to reinstall it for use. At this point, I can only suggest you do a repair of your installation and be sure you have all of the updates.

  • Can't convert .doc to .pdf using Acrobat 9.4.3.

    Guys,
Last night for some reason Acrobat 9 suddenly stopped converting any MS Word .docs to .pdfs.  It gives me the following message:
Acrobat could not open 'XYZ.doc' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF or use the Acrobat toolbar found in Microsoft Office applications.
I swear it was working earlier. So I checked for an update and it gave me 9.4.3 so I updated and it didn't fix the problem.  I also tried several different files and got the same message.
    I'm using OS 10.6.7 Acrobat 9.4.3 and MS Word 11.3.5 (2004).
    Thanks,
    Solan

What version of Word do you Have?
Word 2004 if you had Acrobat as well the PDFmaker menu bar was installed by Acrobat you could convert a .doc Document to PDF.  It required the use of VBA and and a Macro which created the PDFMaker menu.  I was Secretary and Treasurer of an association for 30 years and I converted many a 2004 Word Document to PDF using PDFMaker.
You still had the same problems with word converted to PDF as today. If there are any section Breaks or Page breaks the pdfs were broken up into pieces you have to put back together.
I still have some .Doc files from early 2006 and with Office 2011, I opened one, and just saved it as a Pdf no trouble. I didn't convert it and didn't save it as a Docx.
I simply went to Save as and chose  PDF.
And I also went to Print menu> PDF> adobe quality PDF.  and was able to make a PDF.
Also I just went to print menu > PDF and just chose PDF which makes an Apple version of PDF.
I don't know where anyone got the idea you can't make a PDF from a Doc File.  Maybe in a future version That doesn't read doc. but for now

  • Can't convert Word to PDF

Recently I noticed that my installation of Acrobat X Pro has lost its capability to convert Word files (.doc or .docx) to PDF through Acrobat. The PDF maker inside Word is still functional, but Acrobat itself does not recognize Word files as a supported format. Excel and Publisher are still supported.
I can no longer right click on Word files and access any of the PDF options, I can't open (convert) Word files in Acrobat, and I can't select Word files as targets for any Acrobat actions.
I saw a post on the Enterprise board about this issue happening after WordPerfect was installed, but the discussion was a little on the technical side for me. I did install a trial version of WordPerfect semi-recently, so I'm thinking it's a possibility, but not sure what the solution is.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4492812#4492812
Anyone have any thoughts? Has this happened to others?

On the Mac Version you can drag the word file and drop on to the Icon of the Acrobat application in the Dock and let it grind for a while and it makes a Perfect PDF. In fact it’s the only way you can create Live URL and Mailtos provided they are wriiten as http:// or mailto:
Even Going to Print menu >PDF > Adobe PDF or Adobe Quality PDF won't do it.
Have you tried just draging the file and dropping on to the icon of Acrobat?

  • Can not convert MSWord to PDF

I am using Acrobat 7 with Word 2003, and Windows 7. When I want to convert a file, I hit the Adobe PDF tab on top of Word. It then asks me "Save PDF as" and it generally has the file name that I just saved. I click on "Save" and it starts converting like it always had, but, now when the box comes up that says "Now printing page 1 of "whatever name document"" and then it just freezes there. I have to do the ctl alt del and then do a forced stop for it to quit. It just started doing this all of a sudden. I have not added any programs to my computer. Any ideas of how I can fix this?

Go to the Adobe PDF printer properties and change the port to File. Then try again. I am not sure where the file will be saved, but the file that is created will be a PS file, likely with a PRN extension. Then open that file in Distiller to complete the conversion. Keep in mind that I am giving you a possible work around since AcroTray will likely not work with Win7. For Win7 you really need AA9 for full functionality. If you are able to get the conversion to work this way, you might then try watched folders in Distillers. Your only choice is to try various workarounds since some parts are almost sure to fail with Win7. (I have been successful even with AA5 on Win7, though I do not recommend it. I did it as a test.) In AA7, PDF Maker that you seem to have used, is a front end for the printer.
If you want to try out basic operation, try printing to the Adobe PDF printer with the print-to-file check box activated. Then open in Distiller to complete the process. If that works, then there is hope. If you have a x64 system, then everything I have said may still fail and you may have no choice but to upgrade.

  • JPG folders can be converted to single PDF files together!

The underlying gist is to simply Jpg to PDF Converter. It is a fundamental component. I decided that I wanted to have a bit of fun with this concept as well. It got a lot of media attention. In the past I used jpeg to pdf as an example.
This is as dark as pitch to me. I am quite aware of jpeg to pdf. That has been lip puckering good (The old gray horse just ain't what she used to be). I'm nearly done now. I have little sympathy for jpeg to pdf because it all can last for weeks and even months.

Not possible with Adobe Reader alone.
