Can Adobe Reader affect Epson Scan?

I'm trying to scan documents using Epson Scan software and a an Epson 835 all-in-one.
After the software scans and converts the document but before it is saved, I receive an error message about an inexpected error and am told to restart Epson Scan. I found that I can save a non-serachable .pdf but not a searchable one. I also can save to JPEG and .tif. ABBYY FineReader will not operate the scanner at all and reports an "incorrect parameter which ABBYY support claims is an Epson driver issue.
I spoke with Epson support who is telling me that both issues are Adobe Reader problems.
Is that even possible? If so, what could be causing it and how can I fix it?

That is impossible. Adobe Reader can't scan documents. Adobe Reader can't create PDF files.

Currently, Acrobat DC mobile products (for iOS and Android) do not support any changes to layer visibility. So you are not able to turn on or off layers in a PDF document using Acrobat DC for iOS.

Can Adobe Reader 11.0.10 be downloaded to Windows XP?

Firefox tells me that I need to update my Adobe Reader. I have 11.0.84. I recently learned that the most recent version of Adobe Reader is 11.0.10. When I try to do a download, the version 11.0.10 is not provided. I am wondering since I have Windows XP, does that mean I can no longer get the latest version of Adobe Reader on my computer? Please advise. Thank you.

I am so glad to hear from you. I wanted a trusted source for a download. I saw something online "Oldapps.com" or a name like it and you click and it just starts downloading and I got nervous so I got out of it. I like to see what I'm downloading.
With the link you provided I need the Norton Anti-Virus UNCHECKED because I have ESET NOD32 antivirus on my computer.
Do you know if the Norton Anti-Virus is unchecked in your link? I will await further word from you before doing the downloading.

Thanks, I have posted a couple of questions that I feel were a little dim and in fact one got a less than nice reply so I suppose I am a little embarresed to ask questions when I read the comments from you experts. I did enjoy your "milk" comment. A nurse spilled a cup of tea on my Air when I was in hospital and the "M" key stopped working. Kept using the computer then suddenly after about a month the key started to work again. Shows these Mac's are tough.
Now that I feel a little more comfortable about asking, can you help with another issue I am having. When I try to download files from the internet they come in a file with everything in what looks to me like code. I therefore don't know how to install them. This is why I asked about Adobe Reader as I uninstalled it on Saturday and today have the download problem. Could A.R be the reason do you think?

Inconsistent naming conventions for Adobe Reader in software scan

I just want to see if anyone knows why Adobe's free pdf Reader appears both as "Adobe Reader" AND "Adobe Acrobat Reader". I manage software licenses for an organization of 400+, and it's difficult to know if, for instance Adobe Acrobat - Reader 6.0.2 Update - 6.0.2, should or should not be counted as a purchased license without actually visiting each workstation to verify. I've spoken with our network operations personnel and they confirmed that it is not manually entered by our personnel, but that it is something in the software. ??
Furthermore, why are the naming conventions not consistent even among those that can be identified easily? The list below is what I see when I run a report for all Adobe software on our network.

Starting with Acrobat 9 (announced on 6/2/08), Adobe will support the new ISO/IEC 19770-2 standard for universal software tagging. The new standard will allow customers to correctly identify the name, version, type and licensing status of Adobe software (starting with the Acrobat 9 family and later on as new versions of the products are introduced later this and next year).
I DO understand your frustration with the in consistencies in the naming of our software, but the problem of software discovery goes well beyond our lack of discipline. This is one of the many reasons why Adobe invested time and effort with the industry group defining the new open standard, and in software asset management in general.

Can Adobe Reader 9.4+ send mail?

Sorry to cross post, but I couldn't figure out how to move my post from the "Adobe Reader" forum to the "Adobe Reader for Unix" forum.
The last version of Adobe Reader we had that allowed us to send mail through the envelope icon from Adobe Reader was acroread 9.3.2.
When we installed an update, 9.4, the SendMail item no longer showed in the list from Edit->Preferences.
Does anyone know why? Thank you.
We are using Debian Linux 5.0.8 and Adobe Reader either standing alone or in a plugin from the Mozilla Firefox browser version 11.

thank you for your suggestions, this is what I did....I downloaded adobe readers 10.1.2 , 9.5, and 8.3. I first tried installing reader 10, it got to 52.21% installed, then froze/ locked up.
I shut off the computer and restarted it, tried to remove the program so that I could fully install it, but received the following message:
This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package.
I then went to my program files and deleted all the adobe reader files.
I then attempted to install reader 10, it got about half way , and instead of locking up or freezing it restarted as if there was a power surge.
I tried again, and it froze/ locked up at 52.21%
I then attempted to install reader 8 but received this message: Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate.
I then tried installing reader 9.5it got to about 53% and restarted itself as if there was a power surge, again I then gave up and did a system restore.

Another Adobe Reader 10 problem - scanning

I run a Lexmark 5600 printer/scanner combo. Prior to the upgrade to Adobe Reader 10 it was a simple matter to scan a file to pdf, select Adobe as the program and hit go. The machine would scan, Abbey Fine Print would open and then my document would appear, now since the upgrade everything runs as normal but once Abbey Fine Print finishes loading I get a dialog box that reads a file is missing or moved and nothing happens.
The scanner recognizes that I have Adobe Reader but there is a disconnect. This is on a Windows 7 machine.
I might have to see if I still have any of the Adobe 9 revisions available in my files before I remove 10 and start over fresh. Any ideas?

Well, I didn't have any old versions in reserve hiding in my download folder but I was able to find a full 9.4 install. Removed 10 and reloaded 9.4 and the scanner is working fine now.
For what it is worth, when I looked at the files I had attempted to scan after the 9.4 install I could see them and they scanned fine. For unknown reasons the files would not open with v10. Being under time to get a document scanned I didn't try everything instead I jumped back in time to get the job done. Now I have to wonder if the files were good to go and v10 just wouldn't auto launch them. If I get extra time I may try updating again and attempt to scan, then check the scanner folder to see if the files open manually.

Looking to install "Adobe Reader 9 / Windows XP SP2 - SP3"
Problem - my fixed pc is on a slow connection, my dial-up ISP disconnects after 2 hours, nothing I can do about it. (Unfortunately being distant from the phone exchange broadband is n/a).
Frustratingly the 33.5MB (excl Google toolbar) download cannot quite complete in 2 hours. Tried a few times, once only needed another 30 seconds!
Q. Can I install from file. If so I can download and "save to file" to a Vista laptop and copy the setup file to the WinXP pc. Two reasons for suspecting that's not possible are, the advice to "run" and not "save to file", and an active-x "set-up" control that appears to want to install into my IE (blocked by my AV).
If it is possible, must I allow the set-up control to install into IE on the Vista (I don't want to cause any problems on the Vista, already had other problems with Adobe Reader on that).

Normally I would have just gone ahead and tried. Your experience of exactly what I needed to do overcame my "once bitten" hesitation.
And now the feedback - got old of "AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe", ran the exe from file. With a quick look at one or two pdf's all seems fine!

Can Adobe Reader iOS run javascript associated with a button?

I set up a button that runs a javascript after it's been clicked.
I've tested this on my Macbook and it works.
But not on my iPhone though.
Is it a glitch?
Or does the current version of the Adobe Reader for iOS not support that function yet?

The latest version of the iOS Mobile Reader does support the MouseUp and MouseDown events on a button. However, the event may be attempting to execute javascript that is not yet supported by the Mobile Reader. If you send a sample form exhibiting the issue to [email protected], I can take a look at your javascript and comment on whether or not it is supported and possibly provide a workaround.
