Can airport express output a digital signal to feed a separate audio DAC?

Can airport express output a digital signal to feed a separate audio DAC?

Yes. To access the digital output from the AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) audio port, you will need to connect a mini-TOSlink digital optical cable.

  • Can airport express boost signal without connecting to 3wire bigpond router?

Can airport express boost signal without connecting to 3wire bigpond router? just via wi-fi?

The Express would not sit with the bigpond router......it would need to be located in the area where you need more wireless signal coverage.
Assuming that you have an open available Ethernet port on the bigpond router, you can use that to connect the Ethernet cable to the Express and locate the Express where it is needed in a remote location.

  • How to input/output a digital signal and acquire an analog signal at the same time?

    Dasylab, version: 8.0.04
    Acquirement Card: PCI1002L
When I use DasyLab to acquire the analog signals is no problem without digital inputs and outputs,
and when I use DasyLab to input or output a digital signal is no problem also, but when I do that at the
same time, DasyLab tell me the rate is too high and stop.
so, I searched the manual book1 (user guide) for that, it showed me :
To internally equalize measurement time and system time in the analog input, digital input and counter
hardware modules, use the following settings:
       Synchronization: PC Clock
       Sampling rate: <= 5Hz
       Block size: =1
the problem is, if I set the Sampling rate to 5Hz, the speed of the acquirement datas is not enough for my
    application.
so, how to improve it? who can give me a example programm for me. thanks!
by the way, I come from China, my English isn't good, I'm sorry.

    Hi,
Have things changed over the years?
I need to syncronise a digital output (Modul NI9474) and an analoge input (AI-Modul NI9203) module. I need to measure time intervals from a flank in signal A to a flank in signal B. I would like accuracies of the order of 1 ms. Currently, the signals are not synchronised, with errors of the order of 2 times the block length (block size x sample rate), sometimes much higher. The best I got so far was a block size of around 20 with a sample rate of 1 kHz.
If I use the master and slave settings on the RTSL settings, my program doesn't run properly.
If I use digital signals for input and output, I can syncronise them with RTSL settings and everything is good, but I can't always do that.
Also, if I do anything in the GUI (such as scrollowing something or going to another window), my output gets screwed up properly.
    1. What can be done to synchronise AI with DO?
    2. Is there something that can be done to avoid messing up the output when something happens in the user interface? (I know that I am messing up the outputs as they make some valves switch and that is loud).
    Thanks in advance!

  • Can Airport Express do two things at once

I've used my Airport Express for music up to now, and it seems to work fine. After a fairly length remodeling project, I'm starting to plan on reconnecting all my new components and devices. My question is can I use the Airport Express to connect to both my stereo through the audio output AND my new network capable blu ray player through the ethernet port at the same time?
I've read the docs and it talk about several different things, but it doesn't talk about doing them at the same time. Just trying to see if I need to buy the overpriced dongle for the blu ray player or I can use a device I already have. Thanks in advance.

The ethernet port may already be active since that is the default setup.
Plug in a laptop using an ethernet cable, turn off the wireless on the computer and see if you can get an Internet connection.
If not, open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab located just below the row of icons
Enter a check mark next to "Allow Ethernet Clients"
    Update to save changes

  • Airport Express has very weak signal even to the next room

I am wondering why my airport express has a weak signal. The signal to the next room(about 4 or 5 meters away), is so weak that you can only see one or 2 lines from the graphic at the internet connect. My base station has the last firmware from apple. Has anybody else experiencing this problem or knows what could be wrong?
    Mac mini G4 1.25, iMac G5 2.0, MacBook 2.0, iPod 20Gb, iPod nano 4Gb, iPod 30Gb   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have tried changing channels, I have tried using interference robustness but nothing seems to work. Isn't it so wierd thought that in the same room within 1 meter distance, the signal becomes from strong to weak, to zero?? The funny part also is that when i change channel for a few seconds the signal is very strong until it drops to zero. When i try another wireless device doesn't seem to have this problem but only with airport express base.

No, you cannot seperate the audio and video stream.
You can use optical audio to a sound system (I use sony sound bar) and play the audio via that.

  • My new Airport express mysteriously dropped all signals, I reset it and only my iMac is now connected to my network. My iPad, iPhone 4S and Roku box will not connect - any solutions to this?

My new Airport express mysteriously dropped all signals (due to lack of DNS settings ?!?!), I reset it and only my iMac is able to be connected to my network. My iPad 2, iPhone 4S and Roku box will no longer connect. Any solutions to this? Everything was using my netwoek before.

Did you power down your modem prior to resetting the Express?
If not, do it now. Leave it connected to your Express while you power it down. Let it rest a moment or two, then power it back up. Once it restarts, determine if all your other devices are able to connect.

  • Plusnet Technicolor Router Not Strong Enough - can Airport Express Boost Signal?

    Hello,
I'm not a techie, and need step by step guidance. I have a Plusnet Technicolour router in my living room. The signal is fine except in our bedroom. I have an airport express (new version) and I realised I can't use it wirelessly to boost the signal. Can I do this via a wire from my plusnet router to the express? If yes, what exactly do I need to do? I have a macbook air circa 2010 if it helps...
    Thanks community support!

Power up the AirPort Express for a few minutes, then hold in the reset button on the back of the Express for 10-12 seconds. Release the reset button and allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Connect the Ethernet cable from a LAN <--> port on the PlusNet router to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Express.
Ethernet can be run 300+ feet or about 100 meters with virtually no loss, so you can locate the Express just about anywhere you want that the cable will reach.
    On your Mac....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Other WiFi Devices
    Click on AirPort Express
The utility will take a minute to analyze things, then produce a window that looks like the example below, with an updated picture of the AirPort Express:
Network Name.......Type in the exact name of your PlusNet wireless network
Base Station Name....Type in a name that you want to call the Express
Password......Type in the exact same password that you use for the PlusNet wireless network
    Verify Password
    Click Next
The utility will set up everything for you. When you see the message of Setup Complete in a minute or two click Done.
Close AirPort Utility and you will have a much "bigger" network than you did before. This assumes that your PlusNet router is usingWPA2 Personal or WPA/WPA2 Personal wireless security settings, which almost all modern routers are using.

  • Can an Airport Express convert a wireless signal to Ethernet?

I'm thinking this probably can't be done, but I figured I'd ask to verify.  I know the manual says the Ethernet port on an Airport Express can only be used to connect to an existing network, but can it also convert the wireless signal to a wired one?
My Express is set to "Join a wireless network" so it essentially is extending my wireless network.  I have a receiver that has an ethernet port for internet connectivity and I was hoping to use an ethernet cable between it and the Airport Express to join my network.  Didn't appear to work.
I also have a Netgear WNCE2001 which is a WiFi Internet Adapter used for a different device.  When I plugged that into the receiver, it was able to join the network.  I was hoping to do the same with the Express.  I have a 1st generation and it doesn't work.  Wondering if later generations support that functionality?  Thanks in advance!

but can it also convert the wireless signal to a wired one?
Yes, if you have an AirPort Express 802.11n and you configure it using manual setup to "Join a wireless network" and check mark the option to "enable Ethernet clients".
My Express is set to "Join a wireless network" so it essentially is extending my wireless network.
The "join" setting does not provide any additional wireless coverage in the area where the Express is located. But, you can connect a printer to the USB port and "enable" the Ethernet port with the 802.11n version of the Express.
    I have a 1st generation and it doesn't work.
If by this, you mean that you have an older "b/g" AirPort Express....then it will not do what you want.  Check the Model Number on the side of the device. If you have Model No A 1084 or A 1088, that is the older "b/g" wireless version of the Express.
The 802.11n version is Model No A 1264.

  • Can airport express send a G and a N signal at the same time?

I have two macs with wireless N in my home, and two pc's with wireless G. Can the airport express broadcast a wireless G and N signal at the same time? or does it need to be one or the other?

I purchased 2 airport expresses today and the answer to this is yes

  • Lost airport express output connection from ipad

MY I pad had three output options which one could select affter a double click on the button on the right of the screen
    1) Ipad 2) airport express 3) Apple TV : the airport express option has disappeared .. As a results I can no longer play music back through my amplifier (although it does work via the TV but the quality is nowhere ear as good.  any ideas as to how I can retrieve my airport express connection would be hugely appreciated all best sammysoul

Once you have WiFi Explorer installed on your Mac, temporarily power off the AirPort Express and locate your laptop as close as possible to the location of the AirPort Express
Open WiFi Explorer and look for the SNR heading.
SNR is signal-to-noise ratio, which is a good way to analyze connection quality. The 'bars" at the top of the Macs screen are there pretty much for show...and they tell you nothing about the noise that may be present in the signal.
Use the following SNR guide to analyze the quality of your connection at the location of the Express:
    40+          Superior
    35            Excellent
    30            Very Good
    25            Good
    20            Fair
    15            Low
    10            Very Low
    5              Not useable
A reading somewhere between 25-30 should provide a reliable connection for the Express to "extend". Things fall off quickly below 25 though, so if you see anything below that value, that indicates either too low of a signal or too much noise on the connection.
The Express can only "extend" the quality of signal that it receives, so a good SNR is critical to reliable performance.

  • Can Airport Express bridge off another Airport Express?

    Hello All,
Currently I have the current setup and working great for the most part.
Aiport Extreme (Base) - Connected directly to my ISP Modem upstairs.
Airport Express 1 (Bridge Mode) - Bridged to the Airport Extreme Base and placed midway hall upstairs
Airport Express 2 (Bridge Mode) - Bridged to the Airport Extreme Base and placed downstairs
Currently when I am out on my deck, I will receive 1 bar or no signal.. The signal that I do recieve is coming from one of the airport express..
My question is, If I place a third additional Airport Express outside on my deck/patio will this daisy chain off the current AirPort Express that is already bridged to the Airport Extreme Base, or will it ONLY be able to bridge from the AirPort Extreme Base and not daisy chain from the AirPort Express? In other words, if I do not receive signal from the AirPort Extreme base on my deck/patio will this be of no use to extend the range?
    Many thanks in advance!

My question is, If I place a third additional Airport Express outside on my deck/patio will this daisy chain off the current AirPort Express that is already bridged to the Airport Extreme Base
Sorry, but no. Although the third AirPort will connect to the AirPort Express, it will "join"....not extend...the network. When an AirPort "joins" a network, it provides no additional wireless signal coverage.
or will it ONLY be able to bridge from the AirPort Extreme Base
Correct, if you want the additional AirPort Express to "extend" the network.  An "extending" device must connect directly to the main base station.....not to another device that is already extending the wireless signal.  The reason for this is that Apple's "extend" feature only allows a signal to be extended wirelessly one time....not two.
if I do not receive signal from the AirPort Extreme base on my deck/patio will this be of no use to extend the range?
Correct. But, if you located the additional Express somewhat closer to the AirPort Extreme, it might pick up enough of the signal to be able to extend it. Remember, an extending device can only extend the quality of signal that it receives.
However, if you could run an Ethernet cable from the port on the current "extending" Express to the other Express that you want to add, you could configure the additional Express to 'create a wireless network" and effectively extend the network that way.
