Can AirTunes and My Computer play different playlists?

Hi all,
I just got an Airport Express Base to talk to my wireless network and iTunes sees it fine. I've got the Airport connected a stereo in another room.
Maybe I was expecting too much. I was hoping that I could play one playlist on My Computer (WinXP Pro) and a different playlist via AirTunes on my Bose WaveRadio.
I don't see that there is a way to do this. It seems that I can play one playlist on either one or both and that is it. Is there a way to play separate playlists on each "device"?
Any info will be appreciated.

Is there a way to run two copies of iTunes? Like using "Run as ..." to run a second copy under a different user name? Are there any easier ways?

Hi,
There are two easy fixes to this.
One, you can set up Family Sharing, in which you can have two different iCloud Accounts, yet still share the same apps, music, media etc.
Two, go to Settings and turn-off "Handoff". This can be found under the General page.

Select the device, click Music tab and select the playlists to sync.

I have 3 different mail accounts which i have consolidated under Apple 'Mail'. whenever I log in it proceeds to download hundreds of emails each time to the extent that my disk (the largest you can buy and the computer is only 4mths old) is now full

i took my computer to the genius bar at a store last time this happened and after about 30mins they found a 'hidden' file that held thousands and thousands of old emails, which they deleted. Unfortunately I didnt see where they found it so I could do the same again. i have gone directly into my email accounts and deleted everything over 12mths old so there are limited amounts (7,000) that 'Mail' should be able to download, but that doesnt sem to make a difference. any ideas?

You issue is probably with your email provider. You should check the settings for each account and somewhere you will be able to set it for something like: Delete mail after X days. If you are using POP mail you can find this setting in Mail Preferences - Accounts - Advanced and look for Remove copy from server after retrieving message and then set the toggle.
BTW if no one on this forums knows where the "hidden file" you are referring to is then please repost in the Lion forum, that is where most Mail related questions should go. The reason being is Mail is considered part of OS X.

Can I mark where I leave off when playing different playlists?

Q: Can I mark where I leave off one playlist when switching to another, and back again. For example, if I'm listening to a long audio recording of a seminar and wish to jump to another playlist, can I put a virtual "bookmark" in the first file so when I come back to it, it picks up where I last left off?
If I can, I haven't figured out how and would celebrate your brilliance with an explanation how.

cable, I'm starting to think it's not the ipad because it's working fine out of the car. yesterday it was saying not charging. If it is the input, I guess I'll have to plug it into another one somewhere to determine whether something is bent or broken inside the ipad input or if it is the cable.

How can I get videos to play in playlists on my ipod touch ios6?

I have an iPod Touch that used to have ios5.1 in it but I upgraded it to ios6.
Since upgrading, the ability to play vidoes in Playlists in iTunes, seems to have disappeared!
I still have one iPod Touch with ios5.1 and it still works fine this way but the one with ios6 will not show the videos in the Playlist I created.
Anyone know how to get this fucntion back?
I've heard you can't go back to an older ios once you upgrade.....then I heard you can but it's difficult.

Airtunes and WDS on 2 Different Airport Express-Naming Properly?

I have 2 different Airport Express. Both are running through a Linksys WRT54G.
One of them I use for Airtunes to my living stereo. That is the new "n" protocol.
Works great. The other Express is the older "b/g" version that I have hooked up as an extension to my network under WDS. Both work fine.
My questions is they are listed as two different networks. The one streaming airtunes shows up as my regular wireless network "Linksys.......". The other one shows up as "Apple 61......." They are both coming from the same router but have different names.
Have I screwed something up? I know the WDS one works great because I can select it in my iPod Touch and get a strong signal. I can connect to both networks with my iPod Touch with strong signals.
I'm confused on whether I actually have created an extension (WDS) connection to my Linksys. I must have because the WDS is totally wireless and has to be picking up wireless from Linksys. But why 2 different names.
Your help is appreciated. Should I just name the WDS network the same as the Linksys?

I have the choice under wireless to create a network, join a network, and participate in a WDS network.
If I set to WDS network then under WDS I have the choice of choosing main, relay or remote.
So how do I join my network and extend it with the other airport express?
If I choose to join the network I don't have any WDS options. Am I correct that to extend the range of my network I have to set to WDS?

How come that AppleTV and MacBook pros playing different concerts

Set up is fine, but when I watch Concert on Apple TV/TV set i have a different concert on my 2 mac.
this is annoying because there a different pictures/sounds.
how to solve this?

I think this is a well known problem that others have posted ATV3's are disconnecting from Home Sharing meaning all iTunes content dissappears but they are still on the network so Internet services such as Netflix still work.
If you ATV is hard wired, try switching to WiFi instead that fixed mine.

Copying an album twice, in two different playlists

Is it possible to copy an album twice, using two different Genres, in order to put it into two different Smart Playlists, so that in one playlist Shuffle mode will play it all the way through in sequence because I have put it in a grouping and in the other, because I have not put it in a grouping, will play the tracks randomly? I copied an album first with its tracks grouped and then again without. It appears in both playlists, but in the second, it never gets chosen in Shuffle mode. It plays only if I play the whole playlist in sequence.

While you can create multiple entries for an album, that is a terribly inefficient use of disk space just to allow the same album appear in different genre-based playlists. You could accomplish this by using the "Comments" section of the tag -- enter variations on a genre in comments so that you can put the same song in different playlist (sub)genres.
As to why one group of songs refuses to play in shuffle mode, it sounds like those songs are tagged as "Skip when shuffling". Check the tags to see if that's what it is.

Sorry to ask, how do I do it please. I have my first ipod with the same account on both computers that have different libraries one of which I am building now. Do I have to de-authorise my original ipod on the computer that I want to use my new ipod on with the new library and then register my new ipod. I would rather do this than have 2 libraries on one itunes, but keep the same account details.

I can't seem to organize songs into playlists and then play only the songs in the playlist -

There is if you play music from your computer (mine is connected via AirTunes to several stereo systems) or if you later get a Nano, or iPod with Video or an iPhone that does support playlists.
You can also use them to load songs on your Shuffle. For example, say you are going on a long exercise walk and you want many motivational songs with increasingly faster tempos. You could create a playlist on your computer, put the songs in it that you want, in the order you want, call it Long Walk, and then when your Shuffle is connected choose to Autofill from the playlist Long Walk

Problems with songs I ordered when I had a different email account (now inactive), now I can't get my computer authorized to play those songs

I had ordered many songs using a different e-mail account, which is no longer active and I have no access to. When I try to play the songs, it states that the computer is not authorized to play them, then offers me the chance to log in on my old e-mail address to authorize the computer. However, my old password doesn't work anymore, and since I don't still have the old e-mail address active, I can't get a new one sent to me. When I try to do the security questions, my birthdate is not being accepted as correct, so I cannot access the account that way. How can I get my computer activated through this old e-mail address?
