Can an ARD computer database be stored in a central, shared location?

I would like to have the database of ARD computers made available to many users simultaneously. I do not want to have to have my own personal administrative laptop computer always available so that other users can get computer lists from it. Is there is way to put the ARD database in some central location so that these users can get to it? I am trying to avoid having every user of ARD having to discover and organize client computers. I am also trying to avoid installing a centralized ARD computer just to deal with computer lists.

I obviously know litte about ARD. Let me rephrase my question: Currently, we use Altiris to remotely manage our Windows workstations. It provides remote management, as well as package creation and delivery. I know that ARD does not do package creation. Other products are available for that; e.g., Apple's PackageMaker, FileWave's FileMagic. I just want to be able, along with a large staff, to manage Macintosh workstations remotely. I don't want everyone on staff to have to build his or her own database of Mac workstations. We have around 3,000 of them distributed over 60+ buildings in our 30,000+ student school district. Altiris holds a centralized database of workstation information which is used to remotely manage these workstations. We get to this management with a console client loaded on a Citrix terminal server. Is anything like this available from ARD? I realize that I'm probably talking "apples and oranges" here. I probably need a paradigm shift. Any ideas would be welcome.

    Hi, do you mean a real Dial-up Modem as in the old days?
    As I recall, the Apple USB Modem won't work in 64 bit OSes, but there are others that will, I think this is one of them...

    Sometime, I have to reboot my computer. After it rebooted, my instance is automaticaly executed. But, my database is not set to the OPEN mode (automaticaly). On some development computers, my status is set to OPEN after a reboot. On some computers, the local database is set to the IDLE instance.

    What error you are getting? If you are not able to run both of them then the ORACLE_HOME is not set properly.
    i set oracle_home and oracle_sid in thereWhere? Is it set in your user variable part of system variable. It is good to set it in the system variable, so that it will be common for all the users who use the system.
    To check whether the variable is set or not go to the command prompt and type
    setIf you see your ORACLE_HOME variable then it is set or else not.

    Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
    I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.

    I am using one query to generate my SSRS report. In that query I am using subquery. Now I am pulling data from multiple tales.
    DB used in sub query is different than the rest of the tables DB.(So total I am using 2 DB(Database))
    So I see that in SSRS, I can connect query(In DataSet Properties) to one DATA_SOURCE only, how can I use other database which is I used in sub-query?
    I have to move this SSRS into PROD and I can't hard code that sub-query's DB name in my query.

    In SSRS 2008 R2 you can use the Lookup function (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210531.aspx ) and LookupSet function (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee240819.aspx
    Depending on your security set up, you can reference a table in a second database on the same server using a three part name:  database.schema.table.  This is more likely to work for you if you wrap your SQL command in a stored procedure.

    The TestStand database step types use the CVI SQL Toolkit to talk to databases. The handle that you are referencing is an internal memory location and not a actual handle that you can directly use. Currently as implemented the handle that is stored in a numeric TestStand property for the connection and the SQL statement are the handle values returned from the CVI SQL Toolkit. So for the connection handle, you could call the CVI SQL Toolkit function

    and get the CVI CAObjHandle reference. With this you could then call the CVI ActiveX function

    Hello, I have a problem with Enterprise Manager. I installed Oracle 10g and the patch 10.2.0.2. After install, I could connect to database from SqlPlus without problems, but when I try to connect from AllPrograms - Oracle - DatabaseControl or since the Web browser with http://servername:1158/em nothing happen. I reviewed the status of dbconsole with emctl status dbconsole but the status is running. I recreated the repository with emca -deconfig.......-repos drop and emca -config ...... -repos create , but nothing happened. I reviewed some threads in this forum, but I didn't find the solution. Finally I could connect from the browser but with http://localhost:1158/em. Do you help me how can I connect from Database Control, because the operators in Computer Center should monitor the instance since there, and when I want to connect since my own PC how can do it?

    Check the network connectivity between db server and pc from where u want to access em.
    Check the listener service.
    Check firewall settings, it should be off.

    My old XP computer recently died and I had to build a new Windows 8.1 machine. While I was down I used a laptop as a temporary replacement. Now my new machine is running fine and receiving e-mail, but I now have two databases--one on the new machine and one on the laptop. Both are based on a recent backup, so they are lengthy--except that the new machine's database has a hole in it for the period I was on the laptop and the laptop's database also has gaps. How can I combine two databases into one that includes the messages from both machines?

    Thanks for your reply. My profile folder did not contain any MBOX files. I found them in another folder on another drive. The Import-Export tools simply transferred each folder to the current one as a sub-folder. Then I had to use ctrl-a to select everything in the folder and move them manually to the current folder (such as inbox). Then I could use the other utility you mentioned to remove the duplicates. This had to be done, one folder at a time, to combine each folder. It worked, but I had about thirty-five folders to deal with. The whole process took most of two days to complete. I wish there was a simple way to blend everything together in one action, but I could not find an add-on that would do this.

    Alvin,
    You can access the data provider through ADF the binding. The data provider represents the business service you use. Once you have a handle to this you can get the connection.
    You don't mention the business service, so I cannot help you more than this. If it is ADF BC, have a look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/toc.htm and the stored procedure section. Steve Muench explains a trick to access the "real" JDBC connect used by ADF BC

    I am trying to push data to Oracle 9i database through Stored Procedure via thin driver. It is going smoothly upto 29411 bytes. But it is not accepting for 53843 bytes and giving following error :
    java.sql.SQLException: Data size bigger than max size for this type: 53843
    Is it thin driver limitation? Can I solve it by using OCI driver? Or is there any other approach?
    I tried creating connection pool in weblogic 7.0 through OCI driver. But I am not able to configure it. Is there any special way of configuration.
