Can an iPad with iMessage enabled receive a text from an iPhone that has iMessage DISabled?

Can an iPad with iMessage ENabled receive a text from an iPhone that has iMessage DISabled?

A "non-iMessage-enabled text) would be an SMS message. iPads do not handle these and they do not go through an Apple server to be "converted". SMS is a function of a cellular carrier, not Apple.

• I received a text from another iPhone user who does not have an iPad, why did I receive the text on my iPad rather than my iPhone?

I have both the iPhone and New iPad and I was under the impression when sending a text it went from iPhone to iPhone or iPad to iPad. Also, if I send a text from my iPad to someone who only has the iPhone, it comes in on their iPhone. However, I received a text from an individual who only has an iPhone and it came to my iPad and never showed up on my phone...Which means had I not been at home I would not have known I had a text on my iPad???? How does it determine which device it will appear on?

You are probably right - I don't have my iPad with me and was confusing myself. But on the iPad it is receive at email addresses only.
Sending to the phone number will mean ONLY your iPhone gets the message. If you want it to go to ALL devices, then you should have them send to the email address associated with the AppleID you used to set up iMessage originally. Also set that email address up as your caller id on the iPhone so as you send out messages, people will reply to that and both your devices should get them.
Although Apple's notes indicate you should be able to do it - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
what if you just type in a 10-digit phone number on the iPad instead of an email?
(I originally did all this with iOS 5.0, and I know then the number did not work on an iPad, but maybe with iOS 5 updates, it does now?)

• Can't receive SMS texts from non-iPhone users

My phone suddenly stopped letting me receive texts from non iPhone users yesterday. Since then, I have powered my phone on and off, reset the network, and power cycle. My mother has been in the hospital and I have to be here with her all day. I have no time to go to a verizon store. I've only had the phone a week and I'm really disappointed with this. Seeing my mom is in the hospital, I really need this to be working, but I'd don't even know of something else to try.

Ktoole, I can understand how frustrating this could be. How long has this been an issue? Have you ever been able to receive texts from non-iPhone users? Do you have iMessage on or off? Have you tried to restore the phone through iTunes?

• I received a text from a friend that she didn't send. Is there an explanation for this?

So I was texting my friend, we both have iPhones and are both using iMessage to text each other. We got into a rather personal conversation (not that important). But in the middle of the conversation I received a text message (SMS) instead of an iMessage which we'd both been using, but then immediately back to iMessage, so I thought nothing of it. Then later it happened again, I got another text message in the middle of our iMessage conversation, and then back to iMessage. Although this time it was a strange question to which I inquired about and my friend was confused as to what I was talking about. I screenshotted the text message I received in the middle of OUR iMessage conversation and sent it to her. She said "I never sent that" and was adamant about it. I believe her, although I am not by any means ruling out that she lied to me. All the text messages came from the same number that I've always texted from previous phones and iMessage'd since we've had out iPhones. What makes me both scared (and suspicious of my friend in a way) is that in the text messages I got, they referenced the very personal conversation that her and I were having through iMessage. She swears by god that she neither told anybody about our conversation, nor let anybody see her phone. Is there a legitimate explanation for what has occurred? It has made me very paranoid as to the fact that either she lied to me, or perhaps to the even more frightening fact that our conversation is being watched and apparently intervened into by an unknown stranger, by which an explanation may help. However unlikely that is, I will not rule it out. Technology has come far and can do many things. Any insight/feedback as to a possible explanation or anything to ease my stress and paranoia would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind, the messages I got that are in question are from her phone number, not her iMessage/apple ID address/email address. She swears she did not send then, which I trust, but they came from her phone number.

Gave me a URL on Apple.ie...
What was that URL? Don't post the whole thing; just the part between the double // and the first single / or ? character. For example, if it was
http://something.apple.ie.something/blahblah
or
http://something.apple.ie.something?blah=blahblah
then just post
something.apple.ie.something

• Friend received a text from me saying that to read the text he should hit the download button that i did not send

Just got a text from a friend that claims he received a text from me. This text told him that to "receive my text" he needed to hit a download button that was in the text. i DID NOT send him any text! This is alarming! I immediately changed my Apple ID and password. Should i be worried? Has anyone experienced this and what does it mean?!

Perhaps your friends phone has been hacked.
Unless yours has been jailbroken, it has not been hacked.
It would seem far more likely that your friend has the issue, than you.

• I receive a text from someone but it has an e-mail address at top of message. When I reply and send , it gets returned. Why? and how was original message sent?

I have downloaded I-Cloud and the new ios program. Where do my text go through now if they don't show up on my bill in the data usage section? When I get a text from friends sometime their e-mail address shows at the top of the message instead of their name like it use to. Then when I reply it gets returned. They tell me they are sending it through the normal text like they use to.

• IPhone can't send/receive photo texts from non-iPhone users

I've noticed a lot of other people with this same problem and so far nobody has a solution. I've tried resetting my iPhone 4 and was on the phone for an hour with AT&T last night to see if it was a problem on their end as someone else had mentioned. Nope. Basically, I can't receive any photos through text messaging (MMS) and I can't send any photos through text messaging with anyone who doesn't have an iphone. I used to be able to. Not anymore. Doesn't matter if I'm on wi-fi or cellular. I've checked to make sure I've got MMS on. I do. I've reset network settings, we've even switched radio towers to try that. Nothing.
Can someone help?

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755
I'm with AT&T IOS 6 and have no issue with MMS.
if that link doesn't help, call AT&T back and talk to a supervisor, as messaging is carrier related. Also make sure you have MMS turned on.

• Can you get information from an iPhone that has been remote wiped?

Hello,
My girlfriend thought her iPhone was stolen today, so she did a remote wipe so no one could steal her information off her phone. It ended up that she had just left her iPhone someplace and was able to get it back.
Now that she's got the phone back, she's trying to restore it, but it looks like the iPhone was set to back up to iCloud, but never did because of an error (she had no idea she was getting), and it seems that since it was set up to back up to iCloud, the last iTunes backup was from before she got her iPhone 4s (so it's 5 months old).
Is there anyway to pull information off of an iPhone after it's been remote wiped? I have a program for pulling information off of digital camera memory cards that have been formatted. Is there something like this for iPhones?
Thanks,

Sorry, no. Her data is gone, as designed.

• Why doen't iphone receive texts from other iphones.

I have recently bought iphone 5C for the first time, I have had an ipad for a long time which I use for imessages through wifi. I thought that when I am out and about away from wifi I would receive sms/text from other iphones like I had with my previous basic mobile, but this doesn't happen, although I can send texts to other iphones. Also when I return to a wifi area imessage that have been picked up by my ipad then don't appear on my iphone. When both the iphone and ipad are using wifi when an imesssage is received the message appears on both devices. Is this usual as I would like to receive texts from other iphones as it could be important.

Is iMessage turned on your phone? It doesn't sound like it.
I would disable iMessage on BOTH your iPad and iPhone. Enable it on iPhone first, then iPad 2nd.
Try again and let us know if it's working properly.

• Unable to send or receive text from another iphone after updating ver 7.02

Before updating ver 7.02 I was able to send and receive text to any cell phone. After updating to ver 7.02 can no longer send nor receive any text from any iphone 4 or iphone 5. Can send and receive to/from an old iphone 3 and to any non-iphone but not iphone 4 or 5. Tried updating iTunes then restore phone from backup, no change. Deleted apps that were no longer being used and transferred all my pictures on phone to a folder on computer then deleted then out of iTunes. Tried restoring again, once again no change.
Not having any idea what else to try, went to AT&T store for help. Pretty much got a shrug of the shoulders with the response of yep, a lot of texting problems after 7.02 update. No help at all.
Anybody else have or had this issue? If yes, what did you find causing the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. I tried so many things forgot to list that I did try turning off iMessage, reset network and turned network back on- no change. Also forgot to mention it's my wife's phone, I'm more old school. If I need to talk to somebody, I just call since I already have a phone in my hand. That's my solution to the problem but she doesn't think so. LOL. Also tried hard restarting several times, didn't make any difference. I am still fiddling around with it, if I come up with anything I will post it.
Thanks again for the help.

Launch iTunes on your computer, plug the phone in & on the "Summary Pane", select "Restore". This will restore the phone to factory settings with all of your son's stuff gone. You can now use it as an iPod touch. To do this REQUIRES the deactivated sim card be still installed in the phone.
