Can an obiee dashboard expose a hyperion workspace

Hi all,
I have no experience with hyperion workspaces, does anyone know how (or if) an obiee dashboard can expose a hyperion workspace?
In other words, have obiee provide a link to a workspace, or, better yet, have links to hyperion documents within an obiee dashboard.
I've seen articles the other way around, where obiee can be integrated into hyperion workspaces, but not what I'm looking for.

Hi Dj,
As of now it only supports essbase integration and use the cubes directly in BI.
If you mean hyperion workspace which is application oriented it doesnt support,hopefully next release of 11g is planning for it its in the road map.Should see how it goes.

Thanks John. We just want to disable user using FR report prepared in Reporting Studio and put under "Explore" of Workspace. We found that we can't do that once the user is login into Workspace. The only way we can do is to setup the security setting of each FR report based on the group setting.

can plz help to configure the hyperion workspace.i'm tried so many times but i i'm able to login in work space..i'm getting this errotr:plz suppliy valid username and password.
after workspace configuration i got error message i.e sso :could not login to work space
and slaso i'm having one dought : is it reqire to configur the databse connection for workspace.

Users Can not Access Folders in Hyperion Workspace 11.1.2.2

Hi,
I have created a user "User A" with Shared Services URL with admin ID. I have given all view access to that user.
When User A Log In in Hyperion Workspace, he is not able to see any folders even though I have given full access for that folders to User A.
Please help me what role I have to give User A where he may be able to see his folder where he has access to it.

Can you make sure that he is not a part of a group which has access to the folders.
I don't think he'll be able to view the files inside if he is not having the access to view the files.
Just see whether he can check any files in those folders.
You can restrict the access to other folders by giving a none permission to the users. I would'nt do that if he is not having access to the files inside.

In Hyperion Workspace 11.1.1.3, is there a way to globally set the Hyperion Reporting User Point of View to 'on' for all users?

Yes, you can. I believe it is in the Hyperion\products\biplus\lib folder for 11.1.1.3, but you may have to search for it. Look for fr_repserver.properties. Change the "     Prompt User POV" property from OFF to ON. You will have to restart the following services.
1.     Hyperion Financial Reporting – Print Server
2.     Hyperion Financial Reporting – Report Server
3.     Hyperion Financial Reporting – Scheduler Server
4.     Hyperion Financial Reporting – Web Application (might be on different server)

do you have some old external authorization entries in your css.xml? (they occuur if you delete external user directopries from the sort order (see documentation of HSS). In our case we had arudimantary entry there. We deleted it (via HSS UI) en till now its running fine. The error did not occur after the change. (you have to re start HSS service after the change)

Also: you mention 100 users? But how many groups are you imortinh/caching?

I am currently working on the proposal for a Financial BI reporting project for a company in the UK and would like to know the advantages of using ( ESSBASE + OBIEE Dashboards) solution over (OBIEE ADMIN TOOL + OBIEE Dashboards).
As the project has complex data model the client is insisting on Essbase; will ESSBASE give me more flexibility over BI Admin tool in data modeling and cube designing?

Hi,
OBIEE has infinitely superior reporting functionality to Essbase.
Essbase is absolutely excellent if you want to give your users data input and intuitive drill features. For financial projects Essbase is excellent for budgeting, planning, forecasting etc where you want a good deal of user input on a flexible and intuitive basis for data modelling from a large end user audience.
Essbase is a highly complimentary product for OBIEE as OBIEE fills its reporting needs, modelling Essbase cubes in the repository is brilliantly fast and Essbase' cubes create things like dimension hierarchies purely by dragging physical cubes into the business model layer.
11g features like asymmetrical drilling, ragged hierarchies etc could have been built with Essbase in mind - and MOLAP was definitely built with Essbase in mind.
I would recommend looking at the Oracle by Example for Hyperion (which has Essbase at its core) for a feel of what Essbase can do for you.

Hyperion Workspace portal requirement

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement from the client to develop a hyperion workspace portal wherein we can provide alerts about the regular data loads and can broadcast important communications about downtime etc..to the user community and moreover by some visuals (like traffic lights)we want to showcase that which month of data against particular POV resides in the cube.
The similar functionality was present with the business in their earlier BI suite.
Basically need a start up that how this can be achieved at workspace.
We are using EPM 11.1.2

Can anybody explain me the differences between Hyperion Workspace, Web Analysis and Financial Reporting?

In real simple terms....
Financial reporting - Perfect for producing standardised monthly reporting such as P&L, balance sheets etc. Highly formatted, print well in PDF format.
Web Analysis - Highly graphical, web based analysis tool more suited to dashboards, pinboards etc with slice and dice capability.
Workspace - Common environment where reporting content in deployed. Users can access web anlysis, fin reports, Interactive reports plus other content through the workspace. It was the start of the 'log on to one place for all reporting' concept instead og logging on to multiple products.

BI Publisher report in OBIEE Dashboard

Hi,
I have a BI Publisher report that consists of:
-SQL Based Report
-Has 2 date parameters
This report is independent of any data source OBIEE, ie there is no repository for the data shown in the BI Publisher report.
I need to show this report in OBIEE dashboard with parameters. The report should get a parameter from a prompt / dynamic var.
I have understood according, there are two methods for achieving this:
1. Create a BI Publisher Report using BI Answers report as the data source wherein the BI Answers report would have one of the column’s filter clause as “is prompted”.
2. Create a BI Publisher Report using BI Answers/Database as data source. Create a parameter for the BI Publisher report and then match this parameter name while assigning the presentation variable for the dashboard prompt.
But I can not implement this, because my BI Publisher report is independent of any data source OBIEE.
There a way to solve this?

When you create the parameter in Report, and embed that in BIPublisher report section, it will display the parameter in the embedded content itself.

OBIEE Dashboards are not visible properly in firefox

HI all,
We are trying to open our obiee dashboards in fireworx. But it didnot work properly. we are using firefox 3.0 and 2.0 version but they didnot workfor us.
Any changes needs to be done in brower or in obiee. We are using java code in some reports also is it causing any problem. How to over come this.

I've noticed the same thing when I tried to throw in some custom javascript code into OBIEE. It worked fine in IE but failed in Mozilla.
I could only assume that there are certain CSS properties in the OBIEE CSS files that Firefox is actual observing that IE fails to as well.
What exactly is your script supposed to be doing? What is it actual doing?
Mine was supposed to float a pivot table header line down the page, but instead, Mozilla glued the header to the bottom of the page. I'm not super CSS savvy, but my guess is there are some DIVs in the Dashboard page that are pushing my object to the bottom of the page.
Ultimately, I'd recommend you do two things:
1) Contact your Oracle Rep and see if you can provide you detailed documentation of all the CSS files
2) If you can't get detailed documentation (or even if you do and it's difficult to wade through), then you may have to breakdown and dig through the CSS code yourself.
If you do find anything out, please share. I plan on doing the same when I get some free time.

We have a situation wherer we need to show a BI Publisher report on the OBIEE dashboard .
The Dashboard has a prompt on 'Year' and 'Quarter'.The issue we are facing is ,based on the prompt value the report column header should also change.
e.g :
Year=2003 , Quarter=3
It should give us the revenue for different Products for last four quarter :
Product----------------------2003 Q3---------2002 Q4--------2002 Q3--------2002 Q2---------20002 Q1
Airconditioner----------------100----------------200----------------300--------------400-----------------234

Hi,
based on the prompt value the report column header should also change. You want to change the value of the column heading dynamically based on prompt.You will get this by using the Presentation variable.So,you have to integrate both the bi publisher+rpd.

How to Schedule Hyperion IR 9.3.1 reports on Hyperion Workspace

Hi All,
I am new to this Hyperion Workspace.
Can anyone please guide me how to schedule a report on workspace?
What are the things need to be considered before uploading the report on workspace or during the process?
Can I schedule a report which will save the report with result after the job is complete?

Hi Ujjawal,
To run or schedule the reports in the workspace first we need to have a connection file which is the OCE. See the below steps.
--Launch IR studio and create a OCE file which connects to the source database and save the file (By default it will be .bqy file)
In the Hyperion server Goto StartPrograms--Hyperion--Interactive Rporting--Utilities and Administration and Launch service configurator.
--Now click on 3rd icon which is the Local service configurator and login with an admin account (Default: admin, Password: password).
--Select DAS_SERVERNAME and goto properties there will be a tab for Datasource selct it and add a new datasource.
--restart your Hyperion Core and IR and workspace services.
--Launch workspace
Navigate to the folder in which to place the file.
2 Select File > Import > File.
The first Import dialog box opens.
3 Click Browse, navigate to the folder where the desired Interactive Reporting connection file is located, select
the file and click Open.
The name of the selected Interactive Reporting connection file populates the File field on the
Import dialog box.
4 Click Next.
The second Import dialog box opens.
Click Finish
Now import a BQY as a File as Job and select and browse the file and next give your OCE connections and go next and select the time would like to run the job by selecting the Custom Event.
If you want to schedule a job, you can right click on the file and then add a schedule.
