Can an OSX 10.6 Server Firewall tunnel to a Watchguard Firewall?
I have been tasked with trying to create a VPN tunnel between an Mac server and a Watchguard firewall. There are little options in which to make this connection work.....
Is it even possible to create this tunnel between the networks?

Can I replace OSX 10.6 Server with OSX 10.7?
I recently bought a new Mac Mini. I didn't read closely and when it arrived it was loaded with OSX 10.6 Server. I'm using this mini in a home environment and really have no need (as far as I know) for the Server version. I would like to just have this Mini function normally. I loaded 10.7 on my MBP this afternoon and tried doing the same on the Mini. I get a message in the App Store saying I have to buy the Server version of 10.7 at $79.
Is there any way I can just install 10.7 non-server version on this Mac Mini?
Thanks.you can but dont. Apple has totally screwed the pooch with this release. apple has gone windows. Nothing works after the upgrade. open directory-broken, softwareupdate-broken, AD plugins for OD- broken, open directory replica- broken. Stay away from it for as long as possible.

maybe if Apple listened to the enterprise level admins and actually acted on the pain points server software like this would nt be released. Why is it that when i upgrade my servers that nothing gets migrated over. I lostevery single one of my settings when the box came back up. Did apple even test the osx 10.7 server upgrade to ensure trouble free upgrades? where there tests done to make sure that when your server(which is in an enterprise most likely) is upgraded that functionality wasnt taken away? truley disappointed -
Since upgrading iMac to osx lion I have been experiencing problems in mail, it spontaneously stops receiving and tells me it can't find the pop server and also the biggest problem is that when I send with an attachment the recipient doesn't receive it.
I have to restart mail most times before it starts recieving or recognizes the pop server.
As I said a lot of recipients do not recieve my mails when there is an attachment or when I reply to their email.Contact iTunes Customer Service and request assistance

Hello!
I'm trying to find information/documents on how to do http 1.1
firewall tunneling using Developer/Developer Server 6.0. The
product marketing literature indicates you can, but I can't
find any technical documents that layout how to go about it.
If anyone can point me to the place where I can find the
"how to" type documents, I'd be very grateful.
BTW, if it matters, all my systems are Sparc/Solaris.

Can I install windows home server 2011 on a mac mini? If so how?WHS is 64-bit. Genius are really not versed in Boot Camp or Windows, let alone anything not on the "approved" list of Windows versions.
Most of the problems are with burning ISO, or the SuperDrive. It should have seen the NTFS partition. Disk Utility is known to be trouble, burning it on your Mac Mine but iwth Windows 7....?
Seeing you have Windows 7, format the partition to NTFS 160GB you want and then exit and boot WHS installer.
Or run the install from Windows 7.
In past, WHS supported TimeMachine, streaming video, supported iTunes (that was broken/disabled it seems by Apple with 10.0), as well as even SuperDuper backups.
Main idea is to have some network attached drives.

I have both a ISO and Burned it to a dvd useing windows 7 built in ISO burning software, Its a 64 bit copy (got from microsoft download website from my dads microsoft account).
It is enouth for the OS but it runs slowish on the mac mini (latest core 2 duo 2.4ghz model) The Idea was to have it backup my pc and laptop to a usb drive and act as a media centre pc (connected to av receaver and tv and on a gigabit network with a 2TB nas)
Since it looks like this may not work, whats the best way to make it into a media centure? mac osx? windows 7? plex? whats best and good?
I'd avoid USB like the plague. Why not use your PC instead? If I was going to use a Mini for WHS, I'd just use the Mini solely for Windows and not have OS X (you can boot OS X off an external drive anyway). -
SCCM 2012 What Ports Do I need to open so DMZ servers can communicate with my SCCM Server?

What ports do I need to open in the firewall so my DMZ servers can talk to my SCCM server on the network?
Here are my steps before to make my DMZ servers talk to my SCCM server:
1. On my SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2 I have bounderies installed --> I install SCCM Client on my DMZ server with the appropriate switches --> I go back to my SCCM server to approve the server --> Works
But now my DMZ servers stops getting definition updates from my SCCM server and I was suggested that it is much easier to open ports in DMZ.
Now, could you please tell me what ports should we open to ensure two way communication among servers?

For Internet based clients, putting an Internet-enabled MP in the DMZ is perfectly acceptable because Internet clients will only choose MPs enabled for Internet communication.
For systems in the DMZ, that's where it really gets muddy. There's no perfect way to accomplish this. IMO, DMZ clients should be allowed to go back to the MP/DP in the Intranet with a targeted opening in the DMZ firewall rules that allows them to only go
to the internal MP. That's a security policy question though for your organization.
Another option is to treat the clients in the DMZ as Internet only clients. This way, they will only go to the Internet MP in the DMZ. You do lose some functionality though like Remote Control.
A final way is to actually put an MP/DP in the DMZ and deal with the timeout's that happen when clients try to talk to the MP in the Intranet. Clients will try 5 times to contact that MP before giving up. They try to find a new MP at the following times
(which are not configurable):
- Every 25 hours
- WHen the client detects a network change
- When the client agent starts

According to your post, my understanding is that you got error when communicating to the server.
This happens when crawler is not able to connect to the server. Make sure server name is correct. Couple of steps to troubleshoot it
You should be able to ping the server from the server having crawl component. Make sure there is an entry for the server in the host file under c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder.
Ping <servername>
2. You should be able to connect to the server using telnet command
Telnet< servername> <port number>

If the issue still exists, you can delete the old search application and recreate from the beginning.
You can also reset the index and do a full crawl after.

OSX Mountain Lion Server - how do you uninstall this including services
Hi All,
Sorry if the question has been asked before.
I have Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and installed OSX Mountain Lion Server (2.2.2) and run into a couple of issues after installed successfully.
* I no longer can add users and groups.
* Open Directory fails to connect.
So I read some forums and uninstalled the server by trashing it, deleting /Libaray/Server, empty trash and reboot. But when I reinstalled the server it renabled all the services that I had previously and still not able to add users and groups. Open Directory fails to connect "not able to load replica" So I try to create a new OD and get an error the server is already a Network Server.
So basicaly I want to start from scratch and need some assistance how to get rid of OSX Server.

SahidWipe the disk, and reinstall OS X. (Not fun, of course. I just created a bootable USB disk for this purpose, and nuked an errant server configuration. A "target practice" server used for testing purposes had gone awry, and needed to be wholly reset. So I know what you're going through. Visit here or here for some instructions.)
FWIW, usual trigger for problems with OS X Server on a NAT'd network is bad DNS. That step gets skipped, or folks think they can refer to ISP or off-LAN DNS servers, and problems ensue. OS X Server needs LAN-local DNS when NAT is in use. -

google search goes on about linux but barely any info about max osx serverauth-master is created when you start the mail service. Deleted if you stop the mail service. If that is not happening, you may have to re-install mail. Dovecot is the IMAP/POP part of the mail service. I am not sure what happens if you disable IMAP. I am guessing it is not there. But that is the extent of any tips I can offer. I suppose you could reinstall, but that seems a bit extreme to me.

Port Forwarding on OSX 10.5 Server using Dynamic External IP Address
I have been able to get Port Forwarding to work properly on OSX Server by following the documentation and following discussion:

The problem however, is that you specify a static ip address on the natd.plist file.
I do not have a static ip address, and sometimes it changes. When this happens, of course all the port forwarding configuration will not work, and I need to replace the old external ip with the new external ip address.
This is an easy task to be accomplished, however having the internal network down just for the change of ip address is a hassle.
Is there any way the string entry can be updated with the ip address of the external interface (en0), instead of applying an ip address?

I would like to have the ip address (ex: 17.128.128.128) to be updated automatically from my interface ip address. So if my external ip address changes to 17.128.30.30, the natd.plist file will be automatically updated with correct values.
If I could do the following would be great but doesn't work

Any ideas on how to get this accomplished?
Or better yet, can it be accomplished as of now?
I know I can use IPNetRouterX (www.sustworks.com) and that will work just fine. Have tested using the trial and it works, however I do not want to spend $100 for the software either, and I bet there should be a way this can be done on OSX 10.5 Server.

Vista Service Pack 1 breaks ability to join OSX 10.5 Server OD? (samba)
Can anyone confirm or deny this problem:
Vista SP1 is unable to join an OSX 10.5 server OD (samba domain).
Vista pre SP1 worked fine if you changed the LM authentication level to "use NTLMv1 and NTLMv2", but now that hack does not work anymore.
Does anyone have the same problem? Is anyone able to join Vista SP1 to OSX OD (samba domain)?
If you had a pre SP1 vista machine joined to a domain, and then installed SP1, that doesn't count. Once you install SP1 and try to rejoin the domain, it doesn't work. At least this is my experience.
Either a confirm or deny would be great, I can't get any answer on this problem. If you know the fix I'd love to hear it.

As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
e. Click OK again.

IChat Server - Moving from one Mac OSX 10.5 server to another

I have found and read several posts about migrating Mac OSX 10.4 iChat to Mac OSX 10.5, but that's not quite what I want to do. I have deployed a new Xserve on our network and have moved/migrated all services from my old Mac OSX 10.5 server to the new unit now, with the exception of iChat.
Does anyone know how I can move all of my existing users/settings across from one server to another? I don't really want to have to recreate all the set-up on the new server and it would be much easier if there was a way of moving the iChat Server from one server to another. iChat seems to install itself in lots of places on 10.5 server and I suppose I'm looking for somebody who can tell me which files/folders need to be moved over to the new unit in order for it to work.

stop the ichat server on both machines using:
sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.jabber.jabberd.plist
make a backup of /etc/jabberd, /var/jabberd on the target machine
copy the contents of the directories /etc/jabberd and /var/jabberd from the source machine to the destination machine, ensuring that owners and file permissions are maintained.
restart the ichat server on the target machine thus:
sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.jabber.jabberd.plist
and it should work. I say should 'cos I have never actually had a reason to do this, but there is no reason I can see that this will not work.
Note that this assumes that the user community (names) on the target machine are the same as the source, certificates if you use them are in the same place and, I guess it should go without saying, but the name of the ichat server and DNS names are the same. Note that DNS must be correct and pointing to the target machine. -
Login failure after update osx 10.5 server

i have a somewhat silly problem. I have installed OSX 10.5 server on a G5 DP 1.8 MAC Pro and have been using that for a couple of weeks. Now i installed an update today and since then i can't login to OSX anymore on my server. none of the user accounts have acces. and the same goes fot the administrator accounts i have set up..
i had this problem with 1 specifik account because it was registered to a group that had no acces directly to the server. but i see no reason for this to happen after an update.
so now i have no way to administer my server.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Problem with oracle forms,jre & sun thin clients
we have oracle forms using jre 1.5.0 update 11 running on more than 100 thin clients . but the application hangs when navigating through the forms sometime. if all the browser window is closed and started from the begining it again works fine any sup
