Can Android Browser launch my application?

Hi,
In the android browser, there is a link like "Download or Launch Application". If the user clicks on it, it should detect whether the application is already installed. If it is, then it should launch it, otherwise, the installer should start downloading.
Please let me know whether this is possible in Flash Builder 4.5?

I have some study on Java Web Start(javaws) and I found it maybe not suit for my job because javaws
usually invoke a application by click a link on a web browser.I want to my application launchs automaticly which needn't any other operation about it.
Does javaws can do it.I also know a little about "Application Manager",Can it work for me?

This is a security issue. Try looking at the Preferences under the Trust Manager.

Can't launch Adobe Application Manager CS6 for MAC

When I try to launch the application, I get a "AdobeApplicationManager quit unexpectedly" message with a very long report containing "Problem Details and System Configuration" which is sent to Apple automatically.
The "Updates" function within each application (Photoshop, Bridge, etc.) works just fine.

Albertos35110529 are you trying to install the Creative Cloud Desktop application or are you trying to open it? If it is already installed then you will want to open it from the Applications folder. You can find more details regarding the installation process at Help | Download, install, update, or uninstall apps.

[SOLVED] pekwm - can't launch certain applications outside from termin

I'm currently using pekwm and I'm experiencing a strange issue.
I can't launch certain, random applications by keyboard-shortcut, the pekwm-command-launcher, the start file (pekwm start file and .xinitrc) and the menu.
But it works if I open a terminal and launch the application there.
The applications that don't open include chromium, tint2 and mpc.
Does anybody know how to make these applications launch everywhere?

I couldn't get tint2 to work at all in PekWM. I hope a PekWM guru takes notice of this thread...

When installing apps you get from places like CNET & Softronics they wrap the installer with their adware. You have to manually uncheck NOT to install. I've seen the Genieo as "Install Genieo with a checkbox" in a very small font. See example here:

OS X 10.9.3 added Genieo to list of incompatible software. If possible I would upgrade to Mavericks.

Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.

Updated to Firefox 10.0.2 can no longer launch applications from Citrix-based environment I need to telework -- disconnects wireless as soon as application icon clicked

I use a Citrix-based environment provided by my employer for remote-access to our servers and applications.
I updated Firefox last night, as instructed by the auto-updater and since then I have been able to log onto Citrix, but am unable to launch any applications. Clicking the icon dumps out my wireless connection and I'm stuck.
Haven't yet checked my hard connection, because in my very old house, connecting via the phone jack and modem in the kitchen or master bedroom is not exactly ideal for teleworking.

I experienced similar behavior (neither Keychain Access nor Safari would start, Chrome cannot access https sites, etc.). It got fixed by following instructions in this article:

Basically remove the ~/Library/Application Support/Ubiquity and restart. OSX will create a new one with the right permisions.

Application Error, Unable to launch the application Blackboard Collaborate

I recently updated to Java 7 so I could use this service. I called up Blackboard support when it would not load and they told me to clear Cache, try downloading new deployment file, disable Windows firewall and nothing worked. They then told me to delete all versions of Java I had installed and reinstall Java 6. Here are the execeptions in the error message. Below I posted the

Hi, I've missed three weeks of classes because of the same error listed above. Everything was fine and Blackboard Collaborate Elluminate worked almost effortlessly for 5 or 6 weeks. Suddenly I tried to log in for a live lecture and this error occurred. Other students were having trouble and still are. Tech support at the school couldn't fix it, so they referred me to Blackboard Collaborate tech support (level 2). They haven't been able to fix it either. They recommended the same steps listed at the top of this email. I executed all of them but still receive the same error. Additionally, at one point, I was unable to install Java. Funny things seem to happen when I get on the line with tech support to solve this problem, although funny things don't happen during the other work I do on this computer. Technical language, I know. :-)
In an effort to pass the class, I am doing research on own to try to fix this and get into the lectures.
I am getting the same error listed above but am not a developer and don't understand how to get to JNLP to enter the fix listed above (if someone has a hint, I'd love to try that fix).
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Here are steps taken so far:
1. Clear Java Installed Apps and Applets (Control Panel - Java 32-bit - SEttings - Delete files - Installed apps and applets - ok - ok - ok)
2. Delete all files in Downloads folder (from all browsers)
3. Allow Java in Windows firewall (Start screen - hold down Windows key and W - Search for "firewall" - Navigate to Java program name - click all boxes and save)
4. Ran CCleaner to remove all temporary internet files, cookies, etc. that could be interfering
5. When nothing else worked, uninstalled and reinstalled Java twice (on the second time, it took over a dozen tries to reinstall Java - suddenly it just worked) and both times I deleted the Sun folder (C:/Users/Me/appdata/LocalLow/Sun) at the direction of tech support
6. Removed old registry entries both times using CCleaner
7. Rebooted (something done all along the way to see if it helped)
8. Tried to access live classes and recordings from multiple lectures through Blackboard Collaborate Elluminate and received the same error (details included below)
9. Tried to access Blackboard Collaborate Elluminate with Windows firewall on, then Windows firewall off, then ZoneAlarm Extreme firewall on, then ZoneAlarm Extreme firewall off (and entire associated software package); when on, ZoneAlarm gives "super" trusted status to all parts of Java listed and gives green checkmarks for all parts of Java listed and all levels of security
10. End results so far: receiving same error - nothing works

Launching jws application outside firewall

Hi all,
We have successfully deployed our application with JWS at a client site. We don't have any problems within the client environment, but we can't seem to provide home access to their users.
Client is using Cisco VPN Concentrator 3020 series and they give only WebVPN access.
We have tried many things but here is where we are stuck:
1. User goes to the website
2. Establishes a WebVPN session after entering the user/pwd
3. User enters the URL for the application
4. home.html goes through fine
5. JWS launch errors out with an exception.
Exception is 'missing <jnlp>'. When you look at the Launch File, you see an html page with fields for username and password entry. It seems like as JWS start creates a new connection to the secure website, it needs to authenticate it self. Unfortunately we don't receive the 401 http code, instead we receive an html form.
I would appreciate any ideas for dealing with this situation.

If your jnlp file contains the <offline-allowed> javaws will "attempt" to
download new jar files if it can read the timestamps from the net (and determine that new versions are needed) within a certain timeout (defaults to 1.5 seconds). If the timeout occurs the old version will launch, and the timestamp check will continue in the background. If the timestamp check then finds new files, it will simply flag this in the cache, so on the next launch it will be forced to download.
I don't see any reason why it should be any differant launching from browser or from Application Manager, unless that changes the timeing so the check just happens to work within the timeout.

Or it could be patially related to typical pains when a company makes an enormous transition like this. Ironcially, just as i said in my post, my issue resolved the next day.
Listen, I undertstand the concern and certainly the frustration. I spend nothing short of 14 hours per day with Adobe apps open. primarily After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. I know the hassle and I know the frustration of constantly having to sign back in, which i did for a bit too. But it's just a little melodramatic when people make idle threats they aren't going to follow through with anyway, about using a product that does what this does, and is such an enormous productivity tool that people say silly things. that's what I'm referring to. If you're going to choose an entire platform different than Adobe becuase theyr'e having issues on a brand new method of service and delivery you're an idiot anyway. Wouldn't you agree that the statements of ' i don't have time to test something' are a litle ridiculous? name any product, or purchase in any part of your life that has never failed at anything? and then saying thigns like it's suddenly an unstable environment, when the problem they're complaining about (and the complaint of course it legitimate) has absolutely nothing to do with the stability of the product?
it's the overblown, silly statements that make people look foolish, do nothing to help the issue, and offer nothing that crack me up. When I read someone saying things like that i pretty much ignore anything else they say because reason isn't something they are using at that point anyway.

You made a valid point, didn't make silly comments like what I'm referring to. you said something I don't agree with, but you dind't go overboard and get all dramatic about it. I don't agree that it's an ongoing degredation of their rep. there is nobody even remotely close a valid competitor out there for this in the first place (depending on what software yoiu're referring to, but since we're in the CC forum i assume that's what you mean). The fact is, their reputation is so strong, no other software company can even compete. But even so I still see progress and innovation. Intel had a cushion with no competitor at one point, then AMD came in, and if you notice, within a couple years of AMD getting very popular, Intel started releasing their upgraded technology in less than a third of the time. But I don't think I see that laziness from Adobe. I don't honestly know that the reason is they moved to a subscription based environment but I know that almost all big software companies are at leasdt considering it. heck Microsoft was talking about changing their licensing and doing it the same way. And it's not for greed I'd guess, it's to comabt theft. At least that's my guess, i have no idea, but i don't believethat it's done and they would change their entire business model for a reason lefss important.
While we're on that topic I'd like to point out i bet this new process makes an enormous dent in the piracy, at least short term, so for me I applaud it. because when so many people steal the software, it means people like me, and i assume you, pay much higher prices for our legit licenses. So anything that can be done to thwart that has my full approval. But it also just happens to have some nice benefits, in that the pricing is pretty ridiculously low IMO for the entire suite of apps for 50 bucks per month. let' be honest, anyone using them for business which is primarily what this softwre is geared to, understands that while it might seem high, it's tiny compared to the montly cost of doing business, to keep an up to date, suite full of apps that would cost thousands were it not for the subscription. I'll admit, I bought the full suite on the montly just because it made sense. And it actually paid off. Recently I had a client that desperately needed ihs forms migrated to interactive. they were word docs, excel and plain pdfs, but because I happen to have a license for Acrobat, i was able to import those into pdf files and convert them to interactive forms. Then recommend he use the online service to manage them, and frankly it paid for 6 months of licensing for 10 hours work. were it not for the subscription based licensing i'd not have even been able to offer the service because I wouldn't have paid for acrobat.
Complaining about a piece of software you buy that doesn't work in an area, regardless of where it is, makes perfect sense. But the statements I'm referring to equate to someone buying a house, finding out the key doesn't work, or the doorknob is broke, throwing their hands up and saying 'i'm finding anohter house'. it's silly, and everyone knows there's no merit to it. But i get frustrated seeing it over and over, frewquently by people that hven't even paid for the software. Sometimes I post thing I shouldn't but hey, don't we all?
I like to browse these forums becuse I'd say i've learned as much of my knowledge by reading tricks, tips and resolutions posted in forums as I did through my classes and education. That's possibly an overstatement but not by much. I do get just as frustrated at the people constantly trying to belitte the company as they do with their issues.

How do I fix my Out Of Browser launcher?

I've been working on a Desktop Client project and experimenting with the options of Web display and Desktop display.
Somehow I have broken my project such that if I try to use the Desktop display, the project fails to run and gives the Out of Browser launcher has stopped working message. The browser option still works fine.
I don't know what went wrong with my project or whether my project broke something in the registry, but I'm pretty certain that the problem was caused by my project because....prior to trying to run the project, I checked everything in to source control.
Then my project failed to run as the Desktop display. Then I went to a co-worker who downloaded the project from source control and she got the same Out of Browser launcher has stopped working message.
Also, I then created a brand new simple Lightswitch project and put one screen in it. It won't run as a Desktop application either.
I uninstalled Silverlight and reinstalled it.
Still, my Out of Browser launcher is not working.
Does anyone know how to get it working again?

We can configure Silverlight-based applications so that users can install them from their host Web pages and run them outside the browser.
According to your description above, I'd like to suggest you to check
Out-of-Browser Support in your application, perhaps it will help you fix it.

Have you tried to put the Main-Class under a package (e.g. move LaunchSimulator to org.jyothi.sunke.LaunchSimulator or something)? I'm not sure but it's possible that Main-Class can't be located in the "root package", because the JAR launcher can't address it.
Always put your stuff in a package, otherwise it can't be addressed by other packaged classes.

I was wondering if there was a way I can launch an application a predefined time. i.e. launch mail at 3:15pm.

Yes, but you would use iCal instead. In the info drawer, you can set an alarm for a selected event.
Create an event at 3:15 P.M. for whatever length of time, it won't matter how long. You can use Command-n for this, or use the File menu. In the info drawer, you'll see such things as the name of the event, the times for it, whether to repeat the event and how often, and the alarm setting. For the alarm setting, you can choose to "Open File", then below that select "Other…" and browse for the Mail application, and then below that (the third option for the alarm) you can choose when to activate the alarm in respect to the time of the event (e.g. 5 minutes before or after).
You can also set more than one alarm for an event. Click on the word "alarm" and a menu will appear offering you the option to add an additional alarm that you can set with different options.
If you're having trouble finding the info drawer, you can open that in several ways. There is an "i" button (i as in info) in the lower right corner of the window. You can also choose "Show Info" from the View menu, which indicates you can also use Command-i. Make sure you've clicked on the event and have it selected so the info drawer will be showing the details for it. The info drawer can also show the details a calendar when a calendar is selected or no events are selected. That might cause some initial confusion.

Oh, BTW, if you ever do want to run an Automator workflow at a certain time, you can use iCal's alarm for that, too. However, you would save the workflow in Automator as an iCal alarm. Use Automator's File menu to "Save as Plug-in…" and choose "iCal Alarm". Then in iCal, when you set the alarm and choose "Open File", the iCal alarm you saved in Automator will automatically be listed. If you don't save it as an iCal alarm, then you would have to browse for it like any other file.

Launching external applications from web start

Hi!
I am currently working on a management system and I need to launch other management systems from my Java Web Start application. The other systems are either based on web applications (URLs), telnet - needs to set up a telnet session, or running shell scripts or batch files.
URLs are ok. I am using Desktop.browse in Java 1.6 or I can use BasicService.showDocument in javax.jnlp API.
My application may run on both windows and linux (ie its launched from the browser). It interacts with a java app on a linux server over RMI.
How can I lauch a telnet session from my client app?
Do I have to include apache commons.net and create a telnet module in my app or can i lauch c:\windows\system32\telnet.exe in windows (if my app is lauched on win) and /usr/kerberos/bin/telnet (if my app is lauched in Linux)?
How can I launch an external .exe application in window and how can I launch any shell script or program in Linux?
(same as how do i lauch telnet)
As long as the user is prompted I can see no risk of denying these kind of things so I hope and think that this should be possible!
PS. I have managed to do it by using Runtime.exec() when running as a non JWS application, but I cannot do it when running as JWS:
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission <<ALL FILES>> execute)I dont want to sign the application either. The reason for choosing webstart was to not have to renew certificates at our customers.
Please help.
