which one is stable, advantages and disadvanges, which one you suggest
Plz let me know.
Thanks,
sudhakar

Hi Sudhakar,
As we know every new version is a upgrade version of previous release.
So new version is always better, but there is some scenario when previous version could be better like 9.2.x is better and stable version than 9.3.0 (As we find)
Answer of your (What you are asking )
definitely 9.3.1 is better and stable version
so go for 9.3.1
Thanks

  • Why we cant use commit in trigger, can any one give proper explanation

Why we cant use commit in trigger, can any one give proper explanation

You shouldn't use a commit in a trigger if it's part of the same transaction as the action happening on the table.
Eg. Suppose you have a table that stores details of orders, and it has a trigger that updates the stock table.
If a customer comes along and creates an order but decides part way through that actually, they don't want the order after all, the transaction is rolled back.
If you don't put a commit in the transaction, then the stock table details remain unchanged - no order, so no stock reduction. If, however, you forced the commit to happen in the trigger, you now have no order, but the stock table details have changed.
That's not what you want to happen!
Sometimes it does make sense to have a commit in the trigger, but this is very much the exception. If you come across a table mutating error, it usually means that you have a problem with your design and that you need to rethink it, NOT bodge it by using autonomous_transaction and a commit.
Of course, the times when you'd use triggers should be few and far between - the above example is NOT how I'd code an orders-stock transaction; I'd have some PL/SQL that handled the transaction, rather than direct inserts onto the table.

  • Concurrent problem-can any one give idea 4 my assignment?

Create a GUI program to trace out any braces and keep track of the line having wrong closure of any
braces dynamically and identify the previous line typed if error prone note some red symbol in the
marigin. The marigin however must dynamically increase the line count of the coding.

Providing any solution for your task makes no sense to anyone here. You need to manage your assignment, so start with it. Do not waist time asking somebody else to do your work!

    Hey,
Can any one recommend a good mixer/control surface for Soundtrack pro? I was looking at the Mackie Universal Pro, does anyone have any experience with that or any others?
    Many thanks in advance,

I have to put in another vote for OWC and against ANYTHING else. I bought a Western Digital MyBook Studio Mac Edition several years ago and it did not play well with my old G-series minitower nor the Intel iMac that replaced it last year. The drive was noisy, would cause sleep issues, lock up, overheat and, when allegedly working, dragged down performance.
I had to leave it turned off most of the time and do TM backups when I remembered--not good.
Recently I grew sufficiently browned off at the device to rip out the perfectly good WD SATA drive inside it and order an OWC Mercury Elite Pro enclosure with FireWire 800, USB 2 and eSATA ports. The old drive required only minutes to install in the OWC and has behaved perfectly since. No lockups, overheating, and the same drive is actually quieter in the new enclosure than the old.
WD makes fine hard drives but their enclosures are not very friendly, even those sold as "Mac Editions."
EDIT: forgot one point. If you have a desktop Mac, don't get a "mobile" or "portable" drive that has no source of power other than the computer. If you MUST use USB, it's possible to have dropouts if the USB bus gets overwhelmed while the drive is connected. Go with a desktop dirve with a separate power supply if you can. If you must go with a USB portable drive lacking its own power supply, also buy a powered USB hub. That usualy provides portable drives with enough power to stay with the program when used at home.

  • Pros and  cons  of  select  for  update  clause

    hi,
Can anybody explain what are the
pros and cons of select for update clause
    11.2.0.1

As commented, there are no pros versus cons in this case.
What is important is to understand conceptually what this do and why it would be use.
Conceptually, a select for update reads and locks row(s). It is known as pessimistic locking.
Why would you want to do that? Well, you have a fat client (Delphi for example) and multiple users. When userA updates an invoice, you want that invoice row(s) locked and prevent others from making updates at the same time. Without locking, multiple users updating the same invoice will result in existing updated data being overwritten by old data that also has been updated. A situation called lost updates.
For web based clients that are stateless, pessimistic locking does not work - as the clients do not have state and pessimistic locking requires state. Which means an alternative method to select for update needs to be used to prevent lost updates. This method is called optimistic locking.
So it is not about pros versus cons. It is about understanding how the feature/technique/approach works and when to use it.. and when it is not suited to use it. All problems are not nails. All solutions are not the large hammer for driving in nails.

  • Trying to way the pros and cons of upgrading to the octane

3 lines, husband and son have ENV2's and I have an ENV3 with no problems at all with the shut down issue and have had it 2yrs.  We have no home phone and my phone is the main line so it's on 24/7 since I have an elderly Mom that lives in the area I have too.  I don't text a ton and I do receive some tweets and bettery life is very good.    We are due for upgrades and online at verizon it's saying we can all get the octane free.  Started reading all the user reviews and have some questions I need addressed if anyone can help.  For the most part I think the ENV2 and 3 are just about the same except I find the keyboard layout better on the 3.   I plan on looking at one in store and brining a list of stuff with me to check too.     Mary
Low volume-  Know there was a big discussion on this and complaints galore.  On my ENV3 on the front at the top where I listen to calls is that also a speaker and that's why I can hear it good when closed and the octane does not work like this when closed?  I can make my own ringtones and amplify them same for hubby but this would be big cons for us if they didn't do something to correct it on newer phones coming out.
Battery life seemed to be a complaint with some people.   I know if you text a ton and send photos that will eat up battery life so are some phones defective with the battery or are people maybe just sending a lot of photo message to eat up battery life I wonder.  With light texting and a few photos I can go a few days before I loose some bars now so hoping it would be the same on the octane.
Back light stays on when powered down- user specific defect?
To answer an incoming call, you must push OK first to unlock the device then press SEND to pick up the call. Should be a single button push to answer or at best OK twice, not 2 separate-  True or false or maybe they don’t have the settings for answering a call right?   Only have to push one button on my env3 and 2.
slow frustrating interface glitchy software awkward front keypad- front keypad looks like my ENV3 with a contact button and an ok button to push and navigate music and photos and such does the ok button do that?  Maybe they have updated the software so it's not glitchty now?
you have to open the flip to see missed calls and silence the alarm.  True or false?  See missed calls and alarm function on front of ENV3 when it goes off and this is important to me
person on the other end of the line hears an echo. when i press "2" "12" is displayed-  User specific glitches?
2.5mm headphone jack. you cannot play music without the micro sd card-  I load music on my micro card now so have one and putting music on the actual phone itself is not a concern for me and I have the head phone adapter to use my regular head phones.
speaker isn't very loud while on speaker phone-  glitch with that users phone or all of them as I do use that function quite a bit.
keyboard set up a little wonky- from photo looks like my ENV3 with space bar in the middle which I love better than the ENV2 keyboard
dropping calls on regular basis- User specific to their area and service?  Hard to tell as they didn't state if all the other phones they have had never did that in their area.  I get no dropped calls at home or out an about with any verizon phones we have had, we get great service here, only exception might be if we are way out in the boonies which is rarely but for home and out and about in town I need good reception so would assume this phone would work the same on our service as the ENV2 and 3 do and our old flip phones did.
there is no indicator that I have a voicemail message- guessing that has to be a user glitch as every phone we have had has a voice mail indicator so does it not have one?
Case back is very hard to get off without bending the whole thing and I can see that once it’s a bit worn, it will probably be hard to keep on. I never dropped my ENV but have already dropped this twice due to a more slippery nature. Its also harder to open quickly- not sure if they bought a case other than the black rubberized one from verizon which I have for my ENV3 and is fine or they are talking about the phone itself?  Why would it be harder to open quickly?  Defective hinges on that one?
for the camera. It doesn't have a zoom in option, which is strange- My ENV3 does not have a zoom function.  Don’t care as I have $2,000 worth of professional equipment to take good photos so just need to snap something once in a while out and about to maybe send to someone and my ENV3 in daylight is great for that so assume this is just as good if not a little better camera quality.

We have 3 Octanes, I don't personally have one, I've not heard any complaints by any of them. My responses are in Bule below.

  • Pros and Cons of upgrading GT60 RAID0 to SSD and HDD

I purchased a GT60-0NCR-002US from Amazon last fall and am thinking of upgrading the HD set up.
Currently it has 2 500gb drives arranged in a RAID0.
I'm considering upgrading this to a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD and am curious to get some feedback about the pros and cons of doing this.
I'm assuming this setup would be considerably faster than the current one since I'd have the OS and all program files on the SSD. I'm not sure whether the 7200rpm 32gb cache HDD would be faster or slower than the current RAID0 but since this would only contain my documents and media, I don't think it's of that much concern.
Another question I have is how I'd go about getting Windows back on the system after replacing the hard drives. Could I reinstall an image of the current OS or would the fact that I'm changing the hard drive set up make that impossible?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Quote from: joshsayers on 23-May-13, 09:18:47
I just noticed on the original Amazon page where I bought the computer that the rpm of each 500GB disk is 7200. Considering they are in a RAID0 format, wouldn't I then be sacrificing speed going to one 1TB 7200rpm drive?
Maybe the decrease in speed for the data/media HDD would be more than compensated by having the OS and all software run off an SSD drive, though...
Regarding the re-installation of Windows: yes, I have the backup disk here. So it would just be a matter of re-installing on the SSD drive before the regular HD was installed? I called MSI help and asked them about this and the guy told me that because I would be going from RAID0 to two separate HDDs that this would affect the BIOS and thus the original Windows backup disk would be obsolete. Any truth to this?
The SSD + HDD will be much better overall. For media, does it really MATTER how fast it is? In all honesty, not really. The SSD makes everything else snappy, so what if you have to wait an extra 10 seconds when you copy a movie over and stuff? I wouldn't care, overall the laptop will FEEL much faster, and it generally will be.
There is SOME truth to what he said. You will have to change the bios to go from a RAID to AHCI or IDE (AHCI is preferred, but it may not work....I'm not sure). THAT much is true. The restore disk should work as usual though. It doesn't care WHERE it gets installed at, just that it gets installed. Atleast, it didn't matter for me.
