Can anyone clarify the difference in usage with Cellular Data and 3G ??

I've been reading through a few posts regarding the data usage of
the iPhone 3G(S) and 4.
And there still seems to be questions asking how cellular data and
3G enabled are consuming data info.
I have the 3GS and currently have 3G disabled, but left cellular data on so that I can have "free data access" to wi-fi
networks. But since doing this I notice I'm currently about 75MB into my 200MB plan.
Is this 75MB data going off my actually monthly data plan, or is it the iPhone keeping track of my data usage?
Also on the iPhone it shows my Cellular Data sent 6.4MB.
Can someone clarify what kind of usage justifies what is being sent? Is this emails, Pandora, buying apps, maps, etc??
I just need clarity with this so if need be I can change the way I use my data.
thanks in advance ~A~

3G is a cellular network protocol. If you turn this off using the "Enable 3G" setting, your iPhone will fall back to an older, slower cellular data technology called Edge, but will still use your cellular network for data when no wifi is available.
The "Cellular Data" setting in iPhone will completely disable all methods of accessing data over the cell network. If this setting is turned off, the "Enable 3G" setting becomes redundant, because iPhone won't use any cellular data.
By turning "Cellular Data" off, your iPhone will only use wifi when available. If no wifi network is available, you won't be able to access any data.

  • How long does it take to charge an iPhone 4S from 0% to 100%? And how long does it last at normal usage with cellular data and 3G switched on?

    I just got a second hand iPhone 4S and just wanna know if what's happening with my battery is normal

    A couple hours to charge.  Most users get almost a day with "normal" use.  Note that this is an average and can vary greatly depending on the user.

  • Can anyone heard the difference with 24bit crystali

    well, i using my HD650 headphone play few 320Kbps mp3 music, keep turn on/off the 24-bit crystallizer, but I don't feel any difference ?
    Can anyone heard the difference? I think its not notable.

    Believe me, the improved sound quality and performance gains in gaming alone is reason enough for me to be happy with my upgrade from Audigy 2 Plat Pro ZS to X-Fi Elite Pro.
    Add to that the excellent quality i get with my studio software/ harware and very very low ASIO latency settings i am sold. All the other features for me are a bonus. Question is what was your reason to upgrade sound cards... What is it you expected this card to do above your old card. If you play games that use the X-FI features ( and all new top titles will ) the gains are there for the taking BUT of course the rest of your PC has got to compliment your sound card.No point putting it inside a PC that has a bad hair day even running Half Life 2. I sort of feel that due to the several issues you have had installing this card ( reading your other posts ) you do not have my love for it therefore it's easier to bash it.
    Get it installed and working correct, then treat yourself to some games that offer a true sound experience , lock yourself in your room and get a few hours of pure heaven gaming with the volume turned up. Feel the love for this superb card flow back into your heart.

  • Can anyone clarify the meaning of Cruise Ship data?

    Can anyone clarify the meaning of Cruise Ship data?  I recently asked for it on my account, but when I returned from my cruise I was charged all sorts of Global Roaming data charges.  No Cruise Ship usage was listed on my bill even though I only used it while at sea (tethering my PC).
    The rep I spoke with said that the billing codes used for Cruise Ship Data and Global Data are the same, and Global Data was how it was listed on my bill. What would the distinction be, then?  I assumed that Cruise Ship data would use the cruise ship's towers, but it appears that you have to worry about what country you are sailing near while at sea and whether they subscribe.  Anyone have any light to shed on this?
    Thanks!
    P.S. The service is even slower than what the cruise ship offers for $.55/minute, and the connection is not reliable. I will not be using this feature again, and cannot in good conscience recommend it.

        Thanks so much for asking, Rayray_10803. I would be happy to clarify roaming charges.
    Wireless Cruise Ship Service allows Verizon Wireless  customers to make and receive voice calls while at sea using their own mobile phone and mobile telephone number.
    This service exists on various cruise lines, through an agreement with Wireless Maritime Services (WMS), Maritime Communications Partners (MCP) and Sea Mobile to offer an advanced network on board various cruise ships for Verizon Wireless.
    For this reason, rates on cruise ships are different than they are when you visit the country without using the towers on the ship.

  • Hi, can anyone explain the difference between the models A1457 and ME432B/A of the iPone 5s. Thanks

    Hi, can anyone explain the difference between the models A1457 and ME432B/A of the iPone 5s.

    Hi Gary,
    Model # A1457 designates that it's the European market model, which I believe works on EE, Vodafone and O2 in the UK.
    ME432B/A is the part # that, in your case, I believe, desginates a 16GB Space Grey Unlocked version...
    Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that

  • Can anyone clarify the paywall threshold setting for social sharing?

    When configuring your DPS account for social sharing Adobe's documentation mentions that "The Paywall Threshold value controls how many articles you want a user to be able to read before they are hit with the paywall message."
    Programmatically how is an article defined?  Is that the same as a horizontal swipe to the next page or the next TOC entry?  I'm running tests and I set our account to the number 3 and when I view these shared pages I can clearly navigate past 3 pages horizontally.  Actually the only way for me to reach the paywall is to click on an article in the TOC that is protected.  Can anyone clarify?

    Are the articles from a free folio? The paywall does not apply to articles in free folios.  With v22, the paywall affects only articles in retail folios.

  • Can anyone tell the difference between USB 3.0 and 2.0?

    I have both a 8GB flashdrive 3.0 and 2.0. I got the 3.0 at office depot for $8.00 and 2.0 for the same price at best buy. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two. They both seem to be the same in speed. Is there really a difference?

    This is an interesting subject, I just recalled a MacWorld podcast I was listening to when the 3.0s were first hitting the market. A guest on the podcast was saying to think of it like a 'bottle neck' not so much as speed. With the 3.0 you can push more information through at any one time. So in the case of the hd movie senario, if you had multiple movies transfering at one time the 3.0 would be a lot faster than a 2.0.

  • Can anyone tell the difference among the DB tables ?

    the difference among PAnnnn,PBnnnn,PCLn
    can anyone tell me ?
    for example.
    PA0002 and Pb0002, what the difference?
    thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    PAnnnn is a database tables to store the data records of infotype nnnn for <b>Personnel Administration</b>.
    PBnnnn is a database tables to store the data records of infotype nnnn for <b>Recruitment</b>.
    The PCLn database tables are used to store <b>data clusters</b> (such as results from Time Management, Travel Management, and Payroll).

  • Can anyone explain the difference between these 2 versions?

    I don't understand why Version 2 works and Version 1 does
    not. Both are on the main timeline, however Version 2 nests one
    clip inside the other. They both display correctly, however
    mouse-dragging only works on the Version 2. The events don't get
    fired for Version 1. Can anyone explain what's up?
    Version 1:
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("thisClip",getNextHighestDepth());
    thisClip.loadMovie("man.swf");
    thisClip.onPress = image_press;
    thisClip.onRelease = image_release;
    Version 2:
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("thisClip",getNextHighestDepth());
    thisClip.createEmptyMovieClip("man",
    thisClip.getNextHighestDepth());
    thisClip
    .man.loadMovie("man.swf");
    thisClip.onPress = image_press;
    thisClip.onRelease = image_release;
    The handlers are defined as simple calls to
    startDrag/stopDrag:
    function image_press() {
    this.startDrag(false);
    trace("man press");
    function image_release() {
    this.stopDrag();
    trace("man release");

    handlers applied to a movieclip (like your thisClip.onPress
    handler) is removed when that movieclip is the target of a
    loadMovie() statement. when loading is complete you can assign an
    onPress handler that functions as you expect. or you can use
    version 2 to target the child of a movieclip and assign handlers to
    the parent.

  • Can anyone explain the difference ...

    We are encouraged to buy movies through iTunes to put on our iPods. But doing so results in: one copy on our computer under iTunes, one copy on the iPod/touch, and if we're fastidious, one copy on whatever device we use to perform routine backups. So we pay once and have THREE copies. Syncing makes sure at least two are always present. No one complains - Apple, the movie studios, the government.
    But if we buy a DVD, then rip it onto our computer and sync a copy to the iPod everyone is up in arms. But what's the difference? In both cases one purchase has been made (either through iTunes or the DVD), and two copies are generated (if you have the new Apple time capsule, maybe 6 copies are made!)
    One seems fine, the other forbidden - why? I know the legal position on DVDs, but the net result is the same, no?

    Hey!
    I would assume that any Backup/Mac/iPT version bought from iTMS would be DRM'd.That to me is the only way they would allow you to make Backups.
    Interesting the comment from Fox Studios CEO in the Keynote.....you buy the official DVD and hey,you get a Digital version for your mac/PC FREE!
    Only, not really.... cos you've just shelled out £14 for the DVD!Hahahaha you gotta hand it to 'em!

  • How can i update the phone number associated with my iMessage and FaceTime on my macbook air?

    I recently moved to the US from Canada and have a new US #.  I have updated the phone number on my apple ID but the iMessage and FaceTime on my macbook air are still connected to my old Canadian phone number.  How can I update this?  Thanks so much!

    Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
    Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
              Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
              Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
              Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
    Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test.

  • Has anyone used the new 5K imac with AE CC and is it a big improvment speed wise or not?

    I am thinking about getting the 5K imac with the i7 4.4 GHz quad-core and AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5, but my big concern is that the video card is not Nvidia and does not use cuda core.
    I currently have a late 2012 imac with the 3.4 Intel Core i7 and a Nvidia GeFroce GTX 680MX 2048 MB and sometimes it is very slow when working with a lot of effects or layers.
    1. If you have any experience with the 5K imac, please let me know how you like it?
    2. Was Apple going to the AMD video card a good or bad thing?
    3. Do you think I would benefit any speed gain with the new 5K imac and by what percentage.

    The AMD video card is not a good hardware selection with the current media content creation software. Open CL is still lagging behind CUDA in performance and the CPU's did not change with the new Imac. So basically it's a new Imac with a updated video card and 5K screen. Not something I would suggest for Adobe if you already have an Nvidia solution.

  • HT3281 Can I stop the app downloading using my cellular data?

    I onto want the podcast app to sync when using wifi can I do this?

    Hi, Jmcruzs.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    I would need clarification on what you mean by software update to provide a better answer.  However, it does sounds like you may have automatic app updates enabled.  Here is a helpful article that will help you adjust these settings.

    Doing a new installation of CME 10 and there are two files with no description or help on Cisco's download page. They were released on the same day and are the same size.
    Anyone have any idea?

    Here are release notes for 15.3.3M IOS, as you can see there is only one new feature in M2 from M1, everything else as expected is bug fixes:
