Can anyone comment?

I'm getting one tonight, here is what I want it for.
I have a 50" Samsung DLP Model HLS5087W, I want it for music and photo's right now.
Can anyone please comment of how photos look on a similar TV to mine.
My pictures were taken with a Nikon D50 shooting RAW.
Listen people HD content has to be in Apple's ITMS plans, why else would they only design and sell this to EDTV & HDTV owners.
I'm guessing my ripped Movies will look good, because my TV does an amazing job handling SD content. Way better job than all my friends plasma dislays doing SD.
Just looking for honest answers on the photo stuff.
Thanks

My photos from iphoto look great. Took a really long time to synch - and I wish it would let me browse a bit more than be forced to see in screen show... I am thrilled with this product overall...

  • Can anyone comment on these two plans plaease.. these decrease the cpu time

Thanks I have marked the question as answered.

    - Which query actually runs faster? Which query actually does less I/O?
    - Why did you change the optimizer mode? Why did you change the optimizer_index_cost_adj? What lead you to believe that one or both of these were incorrect?
    - What version of Oracle?
With just two query plans, there isn't much that anyone can say. The optimizer expects the latter plan to run more quickly, but that's only because you've told it that you only want the first 100 rows and that index accesses are substantially cheaper than it thought. If either of those are incorrect, the optimizer's new guess is likely worse than its first guess.

  • Despite 10.5.2 my problems with Leopard continue -can anyone comment?

Since installing 10.5 on the 26/10/07 I have waited patiently for the supposed panacea that is 10.5.2 for all the problems I've been having on both my iMac and MacBook. Strangely I have exactly the same problems on both machines.
To get around some of these while waiting on the upgrade I had to create new administrator accounts as one of the major problems I have encountered is that .dmg and .pkg files will not install within my original administrator accounts on both machines.
I have set up and installed at least 3 new machines for friends recently all of which came with Leopard and none of which display any problems at all. I cannot change to my new administrator accounts exclusively because of the sheer volume of tunes, photos, movies and TV shows in my original accounts and rather than try and move these, I was hoping the 10.5.2 would cure the original default accounts. I cannot comment on any increased stability -it's too soon, but here are just some of the problems that I face every day (common to both machines).
    Firefox won't run
iTunes (frequently) cannot find the default music folder and fails to launch (even though it's there)
.dmg and .pkg files are not recognised
DVD player will not run (Initialisation error 108)
Software update will not run from Apple menu (have to trigger from within sys preferences)
Nothing appears on the desktop whatsoever -no HDs, no files, no folders.
Programmes (such as iWeb) just disappear for no reason; a folder (such as Flickr) will magically appear within the desktop folder without being created by me (within sidebar) but not on the proper desktop itself
Cannot create new folders on desktop - error code 8058 appears each and every time
None of my Apple programmes (ex: Mail and iWeb) have any help files within them; switch to the alternative administrator accounts and suddenly they have all those files
iPod Touch not recognised in default (original) administrator accounts
Windows sharing at best of times if flaky
Screen sharing will not work in original accounts: when I change to new ones, suddenly it all works perfectly.
eyeTV will not keep channel settings between each launch
    And so on.....
Exasperated last October, I gave up and did a totally clean install of Leopard over Tiger. That made no difference. Tonight I installed the combo update but really, all my problems are still there. I have no idea what could be preventing my two original Admin accounts from Tiger from working and I find it bizarre that the same problems manifest themselves on both machines.
    Anyone any ideas?

I eventually did *erase and install* back in October because I was having so many problems with the new OS -I had originally just done the upgrade from Tiger.
Tunes are on an external HD and therefore that isn't the biggest problem, but the original admin account houses a great number of large eyeTV recordings and DivX downloads and that would be a pain to organise as well as all my Mail accounts.
By 'original admin account' I mean the first one that I created once the installation was performed. In my experience, Leopard doesn't appear to care too much for these ones. Whether this has something to do with .Mac prefs and settings associated with these accounts I don't know but I have the exact same problems on both machines. Like many others on these forums I have had many issues with syncing, iDisks, .Mac and so on since Leopard.
Everything works on any newly-created admin account. Yes, I suppose I will have to bite the bullet and change everything over to these but it has been a long, arduous and unpleasant task with Leopard since October and the prospect of setting up mail, bookmarks and copying extremely large media files back and forth is not one that I relish.
What could be causing so much hassle on the default admin accounts that I wish to use?

  • Can anyone comment on my setup?

I've been using the previous generation Airport Extreme for over a year now. I had two iMacs and one MacBook connecting just fine. Replaced an iMac with MacPro that does not receive a consistent signal. So I just installed the new Airport Extreme and added the old router as a bridge with is giving me four bars but a slow connection.
Here is my concern, is the older 'g' router slowing down the 'n' router? I ask because I had read how a mac using the legacy airport card can slow down your 'n' signal. Sorry if I sound like a dummy, I AM!

Yes, any non-"n" device, including the older AirPort base stations, will affect the bandwidth performance of an "n" network. If you need to run both types of devices, it might be worth your while to look at creating a "Dual-Band" network instead of your current configuration.
In a "Dual-Band" network, non-"n" clients would connect to a 801.11b/g network and "n" clients would connect to a "pure n" network. This will allow for full bandwidth on both networks. Each network would have its own Network Name (SSID), but since the second router would be bridged, the router connected to the Internet will still provide NAT & DHCP services to both networks so clients attached to either can both "see" each other and access the Internet.
Setting up a "dual band" network is described in the Designing AirPort Networks Using the AirPort Utility document, starting on page 48.

  • Can I create a PDF document that can be commented on by others using READER

I have dozens (hundreds?) of PDF Books that I've purchased. Whoever created them made them so anyone using Adobe Reader 5 or better can make highlights and comments on the text.  I use the feature to correct typos and send them back to the publisher. I know it can be done because I've been doing it for a few years before I ever got Adobe Standard.
So . . . My question is . . . How can I create documents like this that can be commented on using Adobe Reader? I have Adobe Standard 8 and I don't see this as a separate feature of Adobe Pro. and I'm hoping that I'm just missing the instructions on how it's done. I do not have any problem doing what I want using Adobe Standard 8 but I need to be able to make it doable in Reader so others can make comments in my documents.
Thanks for taking the time . . .
    thehapster

"Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" or "Extend Features in Adobe Reader"
are available with Acrobat 8 Professional / 3D version 8 or Acrobat Professional / Pro Extended respectively.
Additionally, Adobe provides a server based service (LiveCycle ES) that "enables/extends" a PDF such that Adobe Reader can  be used for Comment, Review, Digital Signature, etc.
That you can use Adobe Reader to comment on PDFs means one of the above applications were used.
Because you have mentioned the PDFs are purchased PDF Books I suspect that LiveCycle ES was used.
This server based application (which has a myriad of "modules" available) is expensive so, typically, it is licensed by enterprises that need its functionality. Examples: the large publishing houses or governmental agencies (e.g., IRS).
If you move up to Acrobat Professional you will be able to "Extend Features in Adobe Reader" such that others can perform Comment & Review on your PDF documents.
As Acrobat 9.x is the current, marketed release the Professional version would be available to you via an upgrade (not to be confused with the free "updates").
    Be well...

i have mac 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.10. on checking help website i am told latest flash player 16.0.0.305 is already installed BUT does not appear on my list of applications and am unable to access websites requiring it. have also downloaded flash player installer app but unable to download the flash player itself. can anyone help? thank you!

    Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

  • Batch processing problems-can anyone help?

Setup: Quadcore, 4GB RAM, 4 internal drives all with plenty of space, Leopard OS, latest version.
Software: CS4 with Photoshop Extended; all updates installed. I also have CS3 installed; only use Bridge and PS in both apps.
Problem: Working in CS4. All edits/crops/corrections done in the Camera Raw window; all edits saved and viewable in Bridge. However, when I use Batch from the Tools dropdown (Tools > Photoshop > Batch), and check all the usual places, select an Action, select a Destination, and hit "Go", the results are totally weird. Some images process as expected, but many are at least two stops overexposed.
All individual files will Open, and can be Saved As manually; all works fine. That is in fact how my assistant and I got the job done tonight. The Batch Action is simplicity itself: Open, Save As (JPEG level 9), and Close file—but if I run Batch on the same files that can be opened and Saved As perfectly, it all goes crazy; three quarters of the files are totally overexposed, in blocks (10–25, roughly), and at random.
I have used the Ctrl + Alt + Shift after opening Bridge; I have run Cocktail; and lit the right incense. But this still will not work properly! Can anyone help???

Batching the same files in CS3 works perfectly, in terms of the processed JPEGs at least being correctly exposed, but the CS4-only edits (like the healing brush) are not recognised, nor are many, tho' not all, of the crops.
I have decided to deactivate and uninstall, then reinstall CS4, after upgrading to Snow Leopard. Usually, I wait for a few months for others to report on OS update interactions with CS and FCP, but since CS4 as installed was useless and I had done the usual resets of Preferences without any change to Batch Processing's reliability, I felt I could not be worse off.
So, after upgrading to Snow Leopard, I will reinstall CS4 (and all apps this time, rather than just PS and Bridge, as I usually do) in case there are soime weird unintended consequences of a Custom install.
Very frustrating and time-consuming, and I wonder what I might have done to create this problem—seeing as no one commented, I can only assume that this is an unique experience.
I will report back today, hopefully.

  • HT4060 My I pad 3 is not charging. When connected to the mains it just says Not Charging can anyone help me please as the I Pad is only 8 months old.

My I pad 3 is showing not charging when trying to charge it. Can anyone help?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Can anyone help with my PHP contact form please!

    Hi all,
I've just implemented the email contact form as described in the PHP Solutions book by David Powers and it is working fine.
What I'm having problems with is my form is at the bottom of a long page and you have to scroll or click a link to get to it, which means that when the submit button is pressed, whether the form is successfully submitted or a field hasn't been completed, the user ends up back at the top of the page having to scroll back down to the form before they can see the feedback (either thanking them for submitting or pointing out that they have tried to submit an incomplete form).
Can anyone tell me how I can make the page redirect upon clicking submit so that the user returns to the part of the page where the form is so they can see the feedback instead of going to the top of the page where the form is out of view.
    Many thanks,
    Karl.

I've attached the entire code from the page plus the css so you can see what's going on and in additiion I've put in the corefuncs.php include code.
Hope that's enough, thanks for looking.
    Cheers,
    Karl.

  • I have just installed iPhoto 11 and all of photos on my iphone have now all disappeared and ended up in my photo stream and the library in iphoto does not display all my pictures?? Can anyone help?

I have just installed iPhoto 11 and all of photos on my iphone have now all disappeared and ended up in my photo stream and the library in iphoto does not display all my pictures?? Can anyone help?

And I cant work out why all of my pictures are not diplaying in iphoto?
Is this iPhoto on your Mac?  Are you referring to the photos that were in your iPhoto LIbrary prior to the upgrade to iPhoto 11?  If so then apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If that's not what you're referring to then you should describe what is happening in more detail. Remember we can't see your Mac or your iPhone so need detailed and accurate descriptions of what you're experiencing.
Also we need infomartion like do you have an iCloud account and are you logged into it on all of your devices, iPhoto and Mac? do you have Photo Stream enabled on both.

I ordered a album via icloud and sent it to a friend. We both use iPads. She has not received or does not know how to download the album. Can anyone help please?

Your friend should have received an email announcing the gift that you sent to her.

Perhaps she did not receive the gift. You can resend it if you like.

  • Can anyone share how to integrate Demantra Demand Management to EBS R12?

    Hi all,
Can anyone suggest how to integrate Demantra Demand Management to EBS R12?
    I use Demantra 7.2 and EBS R12.
I search in Manual and in some blogs but not much data support. If possible, I want step-by-step starting from set up such as setup the instance.
    More of my concern are;
    - Is Demantra can integrate with MRP, without APS or ASCP?
    - Is that necessary to integrate by using seed data? If I implement my series with all new series, how can I suppose to link them to EBS?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Tanya T.

    Hi Tanya,
To begin with, you can refer to the Metalink doc 434991.1 for an in-depth explanation on the integration from a technical perspective. Apart from this, there is an ocean of knowledge in the Demantra Documentation libraby in the metalink. The Implementation Guide provides an overview of the integration processes that synchronize or move data between Oracle Demantra and E-Business Suite applications.
    Now coming to your concerns:
    - Can Demantra be integrated with MRP, without APS or ASCP?
After going through the above mentioned documents on Demantra, if you still want an integrated instance of Demantra and MRP without using APS, then it will have to be a highly customized solution. This scenario will obviously have a great impact on various business aspects, which is out of scope of this discussion.
    - Is it necessary to integrate by using seeded data? How to link new series to EBS?
The Demantra - EBS integration adds two new responsibilities for Demand Management viz. i)Demand Management System Administrator and ii)Demand Analyst.
The System Administrator creates a new user in the E-Business Suite with the relevant responsibility for which the user is automatically created in Oracle Demantra.
The user with "Demand management system Administrator" responsibility can create new series that get added in the Demand management component on creation. This series can then be used as per requirement.
I hope my comments help.Feel free for further discussions.

    Shekhar

  • Can anyone help me find a suitable iPad case?

Can anyone recommend an iPad case that will protect my iPad when carrying it around in a rucsack -- or a site that will give me some reviews of cases?
I can find lots of cases in the shops, but nowhere giving me advice about what type I need.
I'd like one tough enough to keep it safe in a bag and which has received good reviews.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Three options:
    1. Keep your Smart Cover, and purchase an INCASE neoprene iPad sleeve.  They are very protective, and H20 resistant.
    2. Keep your Smart Cover, and purchase an INCASE magnetic snap back.  They prevent scratches, and enhance the functionality of the Smart Cover.
    3.  Keep your Smart Cover, and purchase an INCIPIO smart feather.  They also prevent scratches, and enhance the security of the the Smart Cover.
Notice the trend?...KEEP YOUR SMART COVER...it is with out a doubt the most practical accessory for the iPad.  I cannot comment on folios, or other cases of that genre as bulky cases are not my cup of tea.  If you want simplicity, yet refinement choose one of the options I listed.  YouTube is full of fantastic reviews, here's a list of my "go to's" for reviews: MCCHRISTOLEAR, metagamers, outfityours and detroit borg.  Good luck.
