Can anyone help? iMovie wont open

I just started iMovie (9.0.9) havent used in a while, It keeps not responding> so i have tried opening as guest user and it still says not responding. also tried removing 'new folder' from events. why does this suddenly start playing up when i havent used it in a while? any help please

You did not indicate the name(s) of the automatic Software Update. Was it just an iTunes update?
Run the Repair Permissions (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility) then Restart your computer. Relaunch iTunes.
If iTunes fails to open, disconnect any Firewire/USB peripherals (except Mouse) and reinstall that same version from the Apple Downloads Website, then repeat the above Repair and Restart.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

Open Mac Mail.
From the menu bar click Mail > Preferencees then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab then click + to add the account.

The app is for iOS devices. If you want to access Find my Phone on your computer you need to do it through iCloud.com.

Force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times.

I can't get iMovie to Open ... help!

I have downloaded iLife 08 on my computer which is about a year old (Mac OS X Version 10.5 processor says 2GHz Intel Coure with tons of memory left) shouldn't this be enough to work with the new iLife 08? Everything but iMovie is working ... however when I click on the iMovie icon it just shuts down unexpectedly (or never opens) Can anyone help?

I'm having the same problem. New computer - have yet to get into iMovie. "failure to launch" Have reinstalled. Can't find the file suggested in Quicktime. Not among the ones listed. Any other suggestions.

Even though I have OS X Lion, should I download the add-on?

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

If you are running Lion:
From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.
