Can anyone help me recover a corrupt Quicktime Export file?
I recently erased a hard drive by mistake. Yes. I really did.
So I took it round to my computer guy, Les Mannos, in the SF Valley and he recovered the material to another drive.
It all looks fine and the files are all the same size and the icons are there. So I thought I had dodged a bullet but ...
When I went to open the only really important file - a 72 gig Quicktime export file - neither FCP, nor SOuntrack Pro, not MPEG Streamclip nor anything would get it to open. It sits there saying that QT does not recognize the file.
Since the file size has remained the same, it makes me think that the actual track is probably intact, but that the information (wrapper?) is corrupted.
Can any of you boffins out there tell me if this file can undergo surgery and, if so, who could do it? I can pay a nominal fee.

Sounds more likely that the pointers were recovered, but the area that they'd pointed to was already overwritten. Unlikely that anything can be done at this point.

Looks that something has gone wrong with the reset as you still have Firefox profile folders with a date/time stamp that a reset creates, but are using a regular default profile.<br />
Such a new default profile is likely to have been created because of a problem with the profiles.ini file (if profiles.ini is missing the Firefox will create a new default profile).
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
You can look at the time stamps or check the name of the JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder.

It sounds like you want to restore messages that have been deleted. If you have an iCloud backup you may be able to restore from a previous date that has the data you want to restore. Keep in mind that this will restore your entire device to the way it was on that date, and any new photos, videos, or app data that has been saved since then will be erased.
Before proceeding, be sure to back up your data to either iCloud or iTunes first:

Can anyone help me recover photos I have deleted from my ipod (& laptop)?
Basically I am selling my laptop and so I thought I'd use the ipod as a means of storing my photos for future transfer to another laptop.
So I synched it all, all fine, then I deleted half the photos from my laptop (to get it ready to sell) and connected up the ipod again (for something else) and now I look and the ipod has synched and has also deleted those photos too!!
They didn't go to the recycle bin when I deleted them from my laptop (a warning message said they were too big so would be permenantly deleted) - has anybody got any ideas of how I can recover these lost files? Is there a way??

Can anyone help me modify a fully functional SWF file to behave slightly differently?
I have a working SWF file which I used a free decompiler to get to the ActionScript of. I do not know Actionscript, but I know enough other languages to have a vague understanding of whats going on. I am not certain if this is Actionscript 1 or 2 or 3 honestly so I simply posted here. The main thing I need to understand is the order in which code is executed within Actionscript. What I'm trying to do is make a telnet applet which initializes with a giant connect button simply connect by default upon initializing and then if the connection is lost of disconnected function as normal and display the connect button again. I believe this should be a fairly simply modification just moving a few lines of code around, I just do not have a good grasp on ActionScript. If someone out there is willing to work briefly on this with me, you would have my gratitude greatly, or even any brief explanation anyone can offer as to what I may want to look into. It looks similar to java, but I just am not sure on too much to want to try to tackle this blindly.

I had some problems with my MacbookPro and did some clean up and further back-up (time machine already in place for a long time). Now, suddenly I can't access my pictures anymore through iphoto asking me for a library (never asked for before) and I have no clue where the pictures are actually saved when imported in iphoto. Do you have an iPhoto library in yoru pictures folder? If you depress and hold the option key and launch iPhoto - what do you see in the select library window? Select each library there and see what you have

Move the domain.sites file from one computer to the other.
The file is located under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. Move this file to the same location on the other computer and double click and iWeb will open it. Remember, it is your User Library that you want and not your System Library, as you will not find iWeb there.
Just create a new site on the same domain file and it will appear below the other site. If you want them side by side then duplicate your domain file and have one site per a domain file and they can then be side by side. -
Batch processing problems-can anyone help?
Setup: Quadcore, 4GB RAM, 4 internal drives all with plenty of space, Leopard OS, latest version.
Software: CS4 with Photoshop Extended; all updates installed. I also have CS3 installed; only use Bridge and PS in both apps.
Problem: Working in CS4. All edits/crops/corrections done in the Camera Raw window; all edits saved and viewable in Bridge. However, when I use Batch from the Tools dropdown (Tools > Photoshop > Batch), and check all the usual places, select an Action, select a Destination, and hit "Go", the results are totally weird. Some images process as expected, but many are at least two stops overexposed.
All individual files will Open, and can be Saved As manually; all works fine. That is in fact how my assistant and I got the job done tonight. The Batch Action is simplicity itself: Open, Save As (JPEG level 9), and Close file—but if I run Batch on the same files that can be opened and Saved As perfectly, it all goes crazy; three quarters of the files are totally overexposed, in blocks (10–25, roughly), and at random.
I have used the Ctrl + Alt + Shift after opening Bridge; I have run Cocktail; and lit the right incense. But this still will not work properly! Can anyone help???Batching the same files in CS3 works perfectly, in terms of the processed JPEGs at least being correctly exposed, but the CS4-only edits (like the healing brush) are not recognised, nor are many, tho' not all, of the crops.
I have decided to deactivate and uninstall, then reinstall CS4, after upgrading to Snow Leopard. Usually, I wait for a few months for others to report on OS update interactions with CS and FCP, but since CS4 as installed was useless and I had done the usual resets of Preferences without any change to Batch Processing's reliability, I felt I could not be worse off.
So, after upgrading to Snow Leopard, I will reinstall CS4 (and all apps this time, rather than just PS and Bridge, as I usually do) in case there are soime weird unintended consequences of a Custom install.
Very frustrating and time-consuming, and I wonder what I might have done to create this problem—seeing as no one commented, I can only assume that this is an unique experience.

When trying to upgrade from iTunes 10.2 to 10.5 I get a pop-up window with message "on a network resource that is unavailable". I was able to upgrade earlier iTune versions, but for some reason I keep getting this message. I'm using Windows XP. Can anyone help?

Why do I keep losing audio/recorded tracks and SFX in my projects? I have tried: Saving as archive file/searching package contents etc. to no avail. Can anyone help? It keeps telling me 'Audio file not found', and seems to be different tracks in the same project each time too.

That sounds like it might be a failure of the students to perform a Save As and check Archive Project when they do. This asks GB to pull all the files it needs into the associated .band document rather than point to them externally (and then risk not having them be there). -
I am trying to open a MPEG video clip using Quicktime and it wont let me, keeps saying a codec is required. So I click on tell me more, have downloaded Quicktime 7 on numerous occasions thinking this was the problem, and it still wont let me open in. Really confused! Can anyone help???

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
