Can anyone help solve my forced reboot/Kernel panic situation?
Dear mac users,
Since 3 months I own my first macbook pro.
Since some days, this happens: first the a transparent grey screen rolls down; then a grey box appears in which is written
*You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several*
*seconds or press the Restart button.*
It happens quite regularly, the last time just after booting. There's no other choice but to switch off and reboot. The apple hardware test didn't reveal any problems.
The problems started to occur after I applied the latest upgrades, and installed Parallels, in which I'm running Windows XP. The event however also occurs when Parallels is not running. I also freed up HD space, but to no result. After using the last major upgrade and rebooting, I noticed a one-time event of the screen seeming to darken forcing me to adjust brightness to the previous levels. The mouse pointer has disappeared and reappeared on one occasion.
The last report seems to point to the USB drivers or bluetooth devise. Bluetooth and airport have both been switched off during the events. I might add that I have an external screen attached as I do a lot of photo editing.
Any help will be grately appreciated! After finally abandoning windows, I thought my life would at last be free of trouble...
This is the *last report*:

I doubt this is a permissions issue.
Try unplugging your USB devices, see if the problem occurs again.
I've had this happen when I tried to plugin a PHILIPS VOIP321 phone for attempted use over parallels. For some odd reason, the USB bus drivers of OS X just can't seem to recognize 2 VOIP phone thus far. The Philips VOIP321 and the Linksys CIT300 are both that I've tested and have never been able to get functioning.
I saw you had USB Device: PHILIPS VOIP321, full_speed, 500 mA in your report, so may be the same issue.
Thing is I find it odd that the USB Device was even named. I don't think my panic reports had that in it. Which leads me to believe that perhaps your issue is not the same as mine.
has your VOIP321 functioned properly ever? if so, how?

Can anyone help solve this frustrating drop down bug in Adobe Reader 8?
Has anyone encountered drop downs in their PDF form that don't work in Adobe Reader 8?
A simple example is my form (stripped back) here:
http://www.wikski.com/misc/test.pdf
I've built a form with 22 sections in it, some 1800 lines of code, and now every single drop down has decided to not work in Adobe Reader 8.
The behaviour is when you select a drop down, it immediately deselects itself and you can't use the element at all.
I previously had this occur, and by simply deleting the element in LiveCycle Designers ES2 (which is what I've used to create the entire form) and recreating it exactly the same; seemed to fix it. However, I am so far past the point of being able to recreate every drop down this time, I need to actually know what's causing the bug.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,xfa.layout.relayout(); is required to re-render the entire form in order to have the field change color on Enter event. Without this, the field won't change color in Adobe Reader 8, this goes for all fields not just drop downs. Instead it'll just flicker the color change, xfa.layout.relayout(); makes the color change stick.
Thanks for your help, I've decided to take the set_focus() event off drop downs and keep it in place just for other field types such as the text input field. -

File must be saved as a copy of this selection? can anyone help?
ok so im on ps cs4 and all is well, i have been saving files as .png all day long and suddenly it stops allowing me to save as jpg,png and others as well, "File must be saved as a copy of this selection" is the message i got at the bottom of the screen. Can anyone help solve this problem?
Did you change the bit depth? Did you add one or more layers? Did you add one or more channels?
Whenever there's something in the image that cannot be stored because of a limitation of the output format (e.g., multiple layers or 16 bit per channel color and Save-As JPEG), Save As Copy will be selected by default.

Help, I'm Canadian and have an iPhone 5c. I take my phone to the USA for the winter and can't receive any texts unless I'm connected to wifi. Have tried everything I can think of and nothing works. Can anyone help? Tried complete reboot, delegating all threads. Turning off iMessage altogether, then I get nothing!
iMessage (the blue bubble) will only come through via a data connection - cellular or wifi. With cellular data turned off, those messages will not come through until you have a wifi connection.
SMS (green bubble) should still come through, but you would need to verify this with your carrier in Canada.

Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot? I get a gray "curtain" over the light gray start up screen with a message that I need to restart my computer and to hold the power button until it powers off and then press the power button again to restart. It just does this over and over again and won't restart.
Yeah, as necronym stated, it is a hardware issue and more than likely a RAM problem. Disconnect everything from the computer except keyboard and mouse and try again. If it still happens try removing one and/or swapping your RAM sticks over. Keep trying until you have eliminated all possible combinations. Just put a mark on one RAM stick so you know what have tried. If it still fails to boot properly you should probably replace your RAM, but that is no guarantee of success. Have a look at this link for more info on a Kernel Panic.

Can anyone help with these kernel panics?
I work for the NHS. Have spent most of my salary on Adobe Premiere Pro using a Intel Core Mac OS 10.5.8 which is supposed to be enough for the system requirements. Have spent all day shutting down my computer unable to start the software. If it does start it freezes and tells me to restart. This is not acceptable. Can anyone help??? Adobe cefrtai nly don't want to is there ahtyone out there with any solutions? I ahve checked the hard drive it is fine, have done all the usual checks to no avail. Cannot find anywhere to talk to Adobe, their website is a minefield of Groundhog Day!

Adobe Photoshop CS5 version 12.0.4
Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5 version 5.5.0
I hope that is more use. As I said, the software is successfully installed, but I cannot open Premiere Pro. Photoshop does open occasionally but rather like Russian roulette.
I also have the Creative suite and Dreamweaver is no problem, neither is Indesign. This makes no sense to me I would be grateful for any help. I have checked the hardware and the system is ok. I have tried re-installing the software after un-installing it but that made no difference. I obviously have turned the machine on and off because of the black veil that descends upon the screen during the kernel panic. Premiere Pro has alo frozen everything rather than causing a panic too. I have encountered this problem with my first IPAD2 and brought it back to the Apple Store. They gave me a new one and I used it for a few weeks and my MIC was not working so I decided to try and install the update. I hard wired my laptop this time and again I had the same error. The IPAD2 froze so I went back to the Apple Store and they tried to fix the problem. They could not. So they are going to give me another new one. I asked them what the problem could be and they said it was my computer and I should select the download and not the download and install. But to be honest I do not remember I had that option. When I get my new one, I will see if I get the option to select how I update my IPAD. I also saw a message on this site that suggested closing all security programs before attempting to updat the software. I did ask the apple rep when I returned my IPAD today if the security programs would interfer with the update. They said no, but I will try anything to get the update to work. If you find an answer let me know

Captivate 4 crashes while working with Power Builder projects..Can anyone help to solve this issue??
Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

Kernel Panic - Can anyone help decipher this?
Second Kernel Panic in just over a week. I wish I knew how to decipher these logs.
Can anyone help me understand these two short logs?
I see the name Keyspan in the backtrace of both logs. Keyspan is the company that makes a USB server which allows me to connect and access two USB printers on my network. I use that because I have two workstations that need to use those printers.
The latest panic occurred when attempting to print but after noticing the Keyspan print dialog read: Printer not connected. I checked the cables and then saw the panic.
Keyspan was a good company that was bought by Tripplite who doesn't appear to give a hoot about Mac and will therefore NOT make driver updates.
Bad driver?
Thanks,
Jeff
