Can anyone ID this problem? Finder icon started bouncing, unresponsive, now Safe Mode reboot stops 1/3 in and shuts down iMac. Virus?
This started yesterday. I switch on the computer, go into my User account and the Finder icon was bouncing in the deck while a window flashed on about Restoring Windows though you could never click on it because...it kept flashing. The folders on my desktop disappeared so I went into a secondary user account and opened it to find a virus scan. That user account had no issue with the bouncing Finder icon. I downloaded ClamXav and ran it but that being a rarely used user account, it found nothing infected. I went back in in Safe Mode and was able to see my invisible files but the Finder being unresponsive, I could basically only look at them. Also, I couldn't activate ClamXav after downloading it in that user account. All it did was allow me to see my files.
This morning, while I switched on the computer the Safe Mode came on without me holding down the Shift key. Sadly, it didn't get past the third of the little progress bar before shutting down the computer. This happened trying to open either user accounts. I'm shut out. I'm so shocked this happened. I called the ISP and he said everything was normal at his end, naturally in spite of a lot of freezing and not allowing more than one device on wifi at a time. This is an upgraded Internet service after moving to a new place. Otherwise for the few moments it lights up to show me the two users at log in, nothing is visually wrong.
If this has ever happened to anyone, please enlighten me. I've called a Mac repair shop and expect to bring my iMac in. It's barely two years old. : (

Hi all, I upgraded my MBP to Lion , but on the screen where i need to type my password, click on my photo and it does not appear the place for me to type my password and it stay stuck there. Can anyone solve this problem for me?
Reboot the machine holding Command and r keys down, you'll boot into Lion Recovery Partition
In there will be Disk Utility, use that to select your Lion OS X Partition and Repair Permissions.
After that is done reboot the machine and see if you can log in.
If not repeat the above steps to get into Lion Recovery, get online and reinstall Lion again, it will overwrite the installed version and hopefully after that it wil work.
Reboot and try again.
If not follow my steps to create a Snow Leopard Data Recovery drive, then option boot from it and grab a copy of your files off the machine.
Then reinstall all your programs onto the external drive like setting up a new machine, then use Disk Utility to erase the entire internal boot drive (select the drive media on the far left, not the partiton slightly indented) format Option: GUID , 1 partition OS X Extended and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the external to the newly formatted internal drive. Once that is finished reboot and disconnect the external drive.
Once you go that, boot into Snow Leopard and update to 10.6.8, use the AppStore and option click on Purchases and download Lion again and install.
Lots of work, but there is no Lion disks.

<Edited by Host>Look at your receipt. Does it say unlocked? It is possible to purchase both locked "sim free" and unlocked iPhones from Apple.
ONLY the carrier an iPhone is locked to can legitimately unlock it.
IF your receipt says that it was supposed to be unlocked, and it is not, call AppleCare. They should be able to straighten it out. -
The trashcan is not showing up in the right hand corner of my photos on my iPad. So I can't delete pictures. Can anyone solve this problem?
Where did the photos come from ? Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing.

Have an iphone 5c 8g. The home button has stopped working. Did the same a few months ago and recovered 24hrs later. Can anyone explain this problem. Phone still in warranty. Had steam issue recently but this was after last home button episode and no evidence of damage.
If you are playing in hockey arenas a lot or if you are bringing it into bathroom same time as shower it may not seem like much but overtime the steam can acquire and build up in the phones usb dock flex cable swell as the home button flex cable. Bring again into apple store and should be covered under warranty again. could also be a delay in a 8gb 5c software may just be very lag.

i have macbook 5,2 mac osx 10.5 leopard, my problem is every 60 sec. a pop up on desktop restart, sleep, cancel, and shut down and the desktop dim also i already adjust the sleep time to longer time but nothing happen, and every time i shut down my laptop he go restart again i canot of my laptop, i shut down and before he restart again i push the power botton the laptop is off and if i start my laptop not start 2 to 5 time i remove the battery again fix then laptop start. any body can help me about this problem may only the setting but i dont have idea..... please help thanks

HELP: Can anyone identify this E61 standby icon??
I suddenly have a strange unidentified icon appearing in the upper right of the standby screen, right beside the wifi indicator. I've never seen it before, and now all of a sudden it's just there and never goes away.
To me it looks like either a car door or a padlock. I'm attaching a picture here below, I couldn't get it to focus very well but you can kind of see the gist of it, right in the upper right corner of the screen, beside the windmill thing that's the wifi icon.
This is driving me crazy, can anyone tell me what it is?? Please?

They replied saying that this icon indicated a fax message received by my E61, and that I should contact my service provider for more information on how to retrieve it etc.
My service provider of course, does not offer fax messaging or know anything about it, and insisted that it was no such thing on their end causing this indicator to appear. Typical.
Just to be thorough, I called my voicemail box and listened-to and erased all messages I had, including older ones I'd saved and never deleted. At that point both the voicemail indicator and fax message icon disappeared. Why it was there in the first place, I'm not sure.
Thanks for all the help from all.. I too considered various possibilities related to the memory card, apps, attached devices etc, but was able to rule those out by doing a hard reset without any SD card intalled, and still seeing the indicator.
I still think that it would be better suited to an open car door alert though... -

HI, I'm still struggling with this problem.
I have reinstalled the software, all the CS4 programs work fine and Premiere Pro does too apart from the problem that when I export, it gives me the menu to choose the output format, the location to save to etc etc. I then click export and the media encoder doesnt open.
I opened the task manager and nothing appeared when I tried to export so...?

I didn't say anything about installing web browsers. I said to be sure not to have anything open when you run the CS4 installer--particularly web browsers--as they frequently result in failed installations. Adobe has acknowledged this but done nothing to fix the situation presently. It does not sound like this is the problem, however.
Is it possible that cleaning the scripts has effected the copy of CS4 MC I had on my hard drive? If I delete the copy and try putting it onto my PC again it will remedy those problems? It doesnt seem to like anything about the copy of CS4 I have now, and before this incident I reinstalled it maybe 4 times for various reasons without any problems?
I think you're getting confused. We're not talking about "cleaning the scripts"... we're talking about a script provided by Adobe that is supposed to wipe all traces of a previous installation of the CS4 suite, that were not removed during a standard uninstallation routine. If you tried running the Clean Script while you still had CS4 installed, chances are fairly high that you've created more problems for yourself. The Clean Script should only be run after a complete uninstallation, and from the sounds of it, you did not do this. I'm assuming you're running Windows; you need to go to your Control Panel, and use Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall a Program (depending on your Windows version) and uninstall the CS4 suite. If it doesn't show up in the list of installed programs, you've got bigger problems, because now parts of the suite are still present on your system, but there is no way for the uninstaller to remove them. The Clean Script--run properly--might help, but I can't say for sure. At this point, your only recourse might be a complete wipe of the computer, operating system and everything, and start over from scratch. Not good news, I realize, but the CS4 suite is a massive set of programs that sends out tendrils deep into many parts of your hard drive, and it can't simply be deleted like a file. -

did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.

Music/Podcasts stop...starts...speeds up...stops, etc...then shuts down
There are some threads with others experiencing same problem, as well as on other iPhone discussion boards, but no solutions or fixes from Apple yet. This started with the next to last major iPhone upgrade. My local Apple store replace the iPhone with a new one, but the new one does it, too, so it's not the device.
I've removed iTunes and re-downloaded iTunes 9 because the Genius Bar thought maybe iTunes was corrupted, but the problem is still here.
The only other thing I've done to my computer is upgraded to Snow Leopard with the "Upgrade" disc.
Really need this problem fixed, haven't been able to use the iPod feature on iPhone for about a month, now and I've done everything I can think of. 3 trips to the Genius Bar, multiple emails to Apple feedback and iTunes support...and I'm getting crickets here.
Please help, anyone.So on the recommendation of Apple support, who don't have a clue, I completely blew away my phone and restored it as a new phone. Essentially I formatted the hard drive and re-installed the OS.
...and it did not help one iota. I did not install any of my applications, I did not configure email or anything. I just copied some music on to it and after about 50 minutes of playback it started stopping, starting, speeding up, and skipping just as others have experienced.

Which pointed out that there had been a known problem with playback of Apple lossless, though this was supposedly resolved 2.2.1. But more interesting is the comment about using compressed files so that they fit in to the playback buffer of the iPhone. So the next thing I am going to try is to playback music saved in 128 kbps instead of lossless.
My experience with the iPhone and Apple's lack of support have really burned me up. The device is beautiful but between not being able to play back music, the other stupid problem I have been experiencing where apps stop working every time I sync with iTunes, and the fact that the software is frequently glitchy and unresponsive are really killing me. -

Hi, I hope someone can hep me with this as it's driving me crazy!!...I have a magnify glass effect for my main movie and everything is working great, except I need the magnify glass to stay within certain boundaries on the stage...basically when someone moves there mouse away from the flash movie in the centre of the page in a browser, it cuts off the glass and it looks funny (see www.zoeglazebrook.co.uk)...

I'm actually more annoyed by also having the pointer still show. So you might add a Mouse.hide() when they press and a Mouse.unhide() when they release. BTW, you need the onReleaseOutside because if you are limiting where the magnifying glass can be dragged then the pointer might not be above the glass when they release. Most people forget the onReleaseOutside and it causes a lot of problems.
Also I'm confused about your confusion of "...whether it's better to have a start drag on there instead."
startDrag() does just that. It takes the item that is referenced and makes it follow the pointer. And it also gives you an easy way to limit the bounds of that dragging to a rectangle. However you can only drag one thing at a time using startDrag and there is no way to do other things as you drag.
In this case you need to also reposition the large view at the same time based upon the position of the pointer. Therefore you need some other kind of loop that says, "every little bit of time make the glass match the mouse coordinates and also align the large image." You could probably make some kind of combined solution that starts the magnifying glass moving with startDrag and uses an onEnterFrame to position the large view, but why make it more complex than it needs to be? -
My applications disk won't install. Can anyone solve this problem?
I've recently bought a refurbished MacBook Pro, however upon trying to install the applications using the applications disk, it repeatedly states 'installation failed' and advises me to contact the service provider. I have already installed the OSx Lion without any issues, however the issue with the applications disk remains unresolved. It appears to begin the installation process each time with a loading bar, but then always eventually says 'error installation failed'.
I really really want to use the iLife applications that come with the MacBook Pro (main reason i bought it), hence why this is really irritating me. I will therefore be incredibly thankful if anyone can offer any solutions without a price tag, as I don't want to download from the app store when I'm meant to install them free and simply using this disk.My wife uses my Apple ID and password to download and install all her software because that way we only pay for it once and get essentially a family license. Otherwise we would each have to purchase and pay for our own copy. However, that only applies when we are purchasing software from the App Store or the iTunes store. We each have our own individual iCloud accounts where we store our personal Contact, Calendar, and other data. You can change the Apple ID on your wife's computer by going to System Preferences > Accounts and choosing her account then clicking on Apple ID: Set.
Now if you want to make things more intertwined you and your wife can share your contacts, calendars etc with one another with read only or read write priveleges. -
