Can anyone identify this part?

Very early on after getting my Mac I noticed a creaking noise, it didn't bother me and thought nothing of it. A couple of months ago I decided to clean it out as it was getting rather sluggish and to be honest that with a declutter, I have seen an improvement, however upon closing the creaking disappeared. Again I thought nothing of it. I decided to open it today and have noticed that one of the plastic clips? That connects the board to the metal prongs on the case is broken can anyone identify it so I can look for a replacement.
Many thanks
Jordan

  • HELP: Can anyone identify this E61 standby icon??

I suddenly have a strange unidentified icon appearing in the upper right of the standby screen, right beside the wifi indicator. I've never seen it before, and now all of a sudden it's just there and never goes away.
To me it looks like either a car door or a padlock. I'm attaching a picture here below, I couldn't get it to focus very well but you can kind of see the gist of it, right in the upper right corner of the screen, beside the windmill thing that's the wifi icon.
This is driving me crazy, can anyone tell me what it is?? Please?
    Picture here: http://dharmastaff99.dh.funpic.org/Dcp01474a.jpg

I emailed Nokia Customer Care about this and included the screenshot. They replied saying that this icon indicated a fax message received by my E61, and that I should contact my service provider for more information on how to retrieve it etc.
My service provider of course, does not offer fax messaging or know anything about it, and insisted that it was no such thing on their end causing this indicator to appear. Typical.
Just to be thorough, I called my voicemail box and listened-to and erased all messages I had, including older ones I'd saved and never deleted. At that point both the voicemail indicator and fax message icon disappeared. Why it was there in the first place, I'm not sure.
Thanks for all the help from all.. I too considered various possibilities related to the memory card, apps, attached devices etc, but was able to rule those out by doing a hard reset without any SD card intalled, and still seeing the indicator.
I still think that it would be better suited to an open car door alert though...

  • Can anyone identify this Leopard ?

I am currently having (and have had for several weeks now) the following problem with my Mac mini G4.
The mini appears to boot up successfully, asks for my login and then proceeds to my Desktop. However, as soon as I try moving the mouse and pressing any key (and within a minute of login in any case) the beachball cursor appears. It is possible (once) to mouse over the dock and get it to unhide, but it then becomes unresponsive. It is also possible to click on the Apple menu icon, but the menu bar too then becomes unresponsive. It is possible to drag Finder windows around with the mouse, but not possible to click on anything. This problem persists until I force the Mac mini to power down by holding in the power button. This occurs every time I try booting up.
Strangely, it is possible to mount the Mac mini's HD on my MacBook, browse through folders and copy files in either direction, even while the Mac mini is unresponsive to keyboard or mouse input. However, it is not possible to share the Mac mini's screen.
I've done the usual things: safe boot (problem recurs in safe mode); permissions repair from the Install Disc (loads of guff about FrontRow .lproj files but that's nothing new); resetting the PRAM. None of this has corrected the problem. I then reformatted and reinstalled the OS, but the problem recurred after I installed the prompted OS updates.
I would have suspected a hardware fault, if I were not still able to mount the HD and move files, which is why I've decided to post this question in the 10.5 forum. Either way, if anyone recognises this problem, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. I'm saving up for a Mac mini server to replace it but it's going to be a few months!

    Some things to try...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
I think we can get Screen Sharing working also.

  • Can Anyone Identify this iPad Adapter (photo).

This is what I want to do. Connect an audio interface to an iPad by plugging in a USB.
This is probably an older iPad so maybe not a Lightening connector.
But does anyone know what this is or what might allow me to do this?
REWARD OFFERED: I click for Solved and/or Helpful replies.
    Sincerely, bfk

This is the Apple camera connection kit as adapter.
Tthey still make this in both 30 pin and Lightning Connector configuration with a USB connection port at the end.
Here are various USB audio  interfaces you can use with this connector.

  • Can anyone identify this font?

Can anyone tell me what "Impact"-like font is used for "SIR PAUL SURVOLTÉ" here?
    Thanks!

If it doesn't automatically find the right font, you should ask for help in their corresponding message board. There are lots of typeface nerds there, I've used it in the past and they'll be able to track it down for you.

  • Can anyone identify this network monitor on my menu bar?

About 3 weeks ago after a restart, a strange menu bar icon showed up in the upper right hand part of my screen, listing my upload/download network speed in red and green. Thing is, for the life of me I can't figure out which application is linked to this display.
I have installed Intego's Virus Barrier, but that's the only item that I've put on my mac for a while. I can't click or right click the item. Anyone recognize it?

  • Can anyone identify this probl

    Just registered on the forums.
It?seemed?that?posting?this?problem here would be?most appropriate, since it is audio related. I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum (PCI), running Windows XP Pro SP3 (SP2 did the same) and a dual core Intel (E6600). All DirectX updates are installed. My card is connected through SPDIF (optical) to my receiver (optical).
Now for?the?problem,?and I'm?not?really sure?when?it'sstarted?to be?honest. It may?sound?strange but usually when I'm browsing?the?internet (Opera 9), sometimes the audio I'm?listening?to (which?can be?an?mp3, the?audio?of a video?etc.) suddenly starts to play very fast and high pitched (it looks like just out of the blue). I just can't put my finger on it what in the world is causing this. Like I said, I believe this to be audio related but it may be something else. Doesn't matter which media player I'm using!
    If?anyone has?a?clue?as to what is?the problem?here, I?will?really be?relieved because it's?really?starting?to bother me. Before?anyone suggests a?clean?reinstall of Windows XP, I?already?did?that serveral?times. Installed?the?latest Creative driver for?the card?as?well (at the time of this message).
    Thank?you?in advance.

First of all, i probably cant help you, but i want to wish you good luck!
I never had this problem, but here after some driver installations i had a different problem which would occur time after time and more often the more applications i had running it seemed. My problem dissapeared after reinstalling drivers, probably in a different matter than before, going directly to the latest version for example :?
Did your problem just occur out of the blue or after an installation of drivers or something?

Have a look, very nice... Wondering if anyone can tell me what this might be based on, something that might be available somewhere.
It's very slick. I kind of doubt it was completely custom made for this site but you never know.
Thanks, let me know I would be interested to use something like this.
    Drew
Someone recommended I try this forum. Thanks.

The one I linked to seems to do a lot more, do you think it was customized to achieve this?
ie The small boxes to see multiple pictures in the same 'cover' and clickthrough leads to an info page. This is really fancy yes?
Much more useful as an interface than just the coverflow...
I guess I had better beef up my flash chops if I want to get something like this going.
If anyone has a link to source that is more fully-featured I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks so far I am at least going down the right path!!

  • Umm. Can anyone identify this glitch with iOS 6.0?

I Just opened a folder on my home screen and this happened, it was only temporary but i wanna know what went wrong.
No, I was not moving any apps, if you can't tell.

Sometimes things like that happen with really no know cause. All y can do is the standard fixes
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Can anyone identify this Canon SLR Image error?

    Good Day Canon enthusiasts,
Does anyone know what happened to this image? Specifically the 1/3 split in the image.
This is the only photo that did this out of the 100 photos taken that day.
    Canon 1D Mark 3 + 85mm 1.2
    Thanks in advance!

Mike... I want to extend out a thank you for taking the time to help out with this issue.  I hope a lot of other canon users find this informational in the event it happens to them in the future.
    to answer your questions:
Does this occur when using multiple memory cards, or just one specifically.
Very nice trouble shooting question, but I have bad news.  I already wiped the media cards for another project after backing up original photos.
    2.   How often do you format your memory cards?
I format after every big project that almost fills up the media cards or if it's multiple smaller projects, I would just create multiple new folders on the same card.
    3.  What shutter speed was used in the provided image?
         1/160.
    4.  Does the issue go away or become less frequent with slower shutter speed settings?
That frame as #68 out of about 100 photographs on that set.  I think that was the 2nd time it happened. It doesn't happen frequent enough to test it at lower shutter speeds.  The past few days for another project I have put on about 20,000 shutter clicks tethered to a MPB & to my knowledge I have not seen that error.
    Mike, thank you again!

  • Can Anyone identify this filter or effect?

Trying to figure out how this effect was achieved. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Max

It could be that the base layer was duplicated.  then a lined halftoned pattern was created using a layer with a 50% gray fill with a soft edge.  A selection was made of the the halftone layer.  Using the selection on the dupe layer press shift-ctrl/cmd-J to separate the dupe layer into two layers with the banding.  Then take the move tool and move one of those layers over until the image parts are move over to the next blank area in the layer below (you'll need to turn off the base layer to see this).  The move the other striped layer in the other direction, the same way.  Apply a motion blur in the direction of your lines.  If you want to make vertical lines, you will need to rotate the entire canvas 90 deg. to use the lined halftone pattern.
