Can anyone recommend a decent mouse?

Hi,
I am looking for some reliable mouse recommendations.  I have a Logitech MX 1100 now but the pointer has become very inaccurate.  I am not sure if there is a way to fix that.
1. Wired
2. Wireless
3. Bluetooth
Thanks!

Logitech Anywhere MX. Only problems I have with the 2 I own is the scroll wheel is not as positive as other Microsoft mice I've had.

  • Can anyone recommend a decent, totally free sound equalizer app or program to work across different applications on my Mac?

Can anyone recommend a decent, totally free sound equalizer app or program to work across different applications on my Mac?
    I am running OS 10.9.2.
    Thanks!

NeoOffice was a OS X adaptation of OpenOffice because there wasn't a OS X version when the "Mac" came back from the dead basically.
Sun which owned OpenOffice, was bought by Oracle, which all the developers left finding out Oracle wasn't going to support OpenOffice anymore.
The developers of OpenOffice went and formed LibreOffice, which got some serious cash donations and now is the new fork of OpenOffice.
So if you have files in NeoOffice, OpenOffice or Microsoft Office, they will work just fine in LibreOffice.
LibreOffice is getitng all the attention now that's it's truly "free" and many more developers worldwide are looking at the code and contributing to it.
So LibreOffice is what you need. It's also cross platform, Linux, OS X or Windows. AND free. (but you should contribute funds)

  • Can anyone recommend an ergonomic mouse?

I'm experiencing major pain in my right hand. My mouse hand. Can anyone recommend a really good ergonomic mouse? Has anyone had experience with the OrthoMouse? I like wireless mice a lot, but I'll plug in to get rid of this pain. ALSO - I use an external Apple keyboard. I don't seem to be having any issues YET, but I'd consider an ergonomic keyboard if anyone is a fan of particular keyboards. I really appreciate your help. I'm a freelance business writer, and I'm on my computer for hours and hours every day. The pain in my right hand (especially the muscles of my thumb) is becoming debilitating.

I was not offended.  I apologize if my mode of writing someitmes comes across that way.
I was just trying to reinforce the idea that the answer yo get may be from someone who is 6-3 (with appropriately large hands) while you may be 5-6 with small hands.
In short, our answers are probably irrelevant.
BestBuy also has a nice return policy if you choose incorectly the first time.

  • Can anyone recommend a decent USB Fax/Modem for the Macbook (Intel) ?

Hello, after reviewing the feedback on the Apple USB modem, I see that most cannot fax, a few claim they have done limited numbers of faxes. All complain about the slower connect speed recognition (as compared to earlier Apple internal modems).
Has anyone found a decent USB powered modem or Firewire powered modem which can fac and surf ?
Thanks in advance for any leads,

I thought I closed this. ATI would not comment. I will try Apple Support but believe I am wasting time.

    Regards Tom

Use of a stylus is entirely a matter of personal preference and style. It is certainly not necessary and is grossly misleading to characterize it as "best," as if it's some kind of necessity.
I dare say my work qualifies as "professional" as anyone's but I personally have little to no use for a stylus in a vector drawing program. I find them awkward and tedious. If you use the very small handful of features which can take advantage of pressure-sensitivity, then obviously a stylus is advantageous for those features. That's more a matter of drawing style; certainly neither a matter of necessity nor of professionalism.
There is nothing Illustrator-specific regarding sideways scrolling. So if whatever mouse you chose provides for it by the wheel, then it will probably work in AI as it would in any other app. Just use whatever mouse you like. I like a small "notebook size" wireless optical mouse with decent resolution that works well on a desk surface without the need for a mousepad, and a model without a kazillion buttons that are too easy to inadvertently invoke. I typically buy the Microsoft branded "laptop" mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel (not the 10-button ones), and use them for all my desktops and laptops. The scroll wheel scrolls horizontally when pressing Ctrl; zooms when pressing Alt. I use an even smaller mouse for my netbook, because it packs away well in the case.
But again, it's just personal preference.

  • Can anyone recommend a Bluetooth Mouse & keyboard?

    Hi Guys,
I've finally installed Bluetoothand AirPort into my Mac Mini & was wondering if anyone could recommend a mouse & keyboard they're happy with? I'm put off by the hefty price tag on the Apple products!
Many thanks for any help you can give.

"One thing is for sure! Do not buy the Apple bluetooth keyboard!"
I couldn't disagree more. I have two Apple BT keyboards which I use with my 17 inch PowerBook, G4 Mac Mini and CoreDuo Mini. The keyboards work perfectly every time.
I even spilled beer into my first BT keyboard back in November, 2003. After submerging the whole unit in the bathtub, flushing it out with distilled water and allowing it to dry thoroughly for two days, the keyboard fired up immediately and it's been working perfectly ever since. How's that for a testimonial!
Bluetooth mice are another matter. I've had too many disconnections and failed pairings with my Apple BT mouse and my MS Intellimouse BT. Of the two, the Apple mouse works better but not by much. Reading through these forums it seems no third party Bluetooth mouse works more reliably than Apple's. Sporadic disconnections seems the Devil's bargain for BT mice on the Mac.

  • Can anyone recommend a good mouse...

I want to be able to control Keynote 3 presentations via a Bluetooth mouse. Not just advancing slides, though - I need to be able to go back a slide, go back a build etc as well.
I have the standard Apple bluetooth mouse, but as a one-button mouse, it's not as flexible as I'd like.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance for your intelligent counsel!

I don't think a bluetooth mouse is the best way, there are of course loads of cool ways to control keynote:
Salling Clicker, amazing application for bluetooth remote from your mobile, provides excellent keynote control!
Apple IR Remote, although apple don't ever mention is, if you have a computer with an IR Sensor (iMac g5 / intel / mini / MacBook Pro) the apple remote will control your keynote presentation.

  • Can anyone recommend a BT mouse for a PowerBook with OS X 10.3

Just wondered which BT mouse set up you guys can recommend. I understand the Mighty Mouse is not compatable with 10.3 and as an Apple Newbie, I want to make sure I buy the correct one.

Just recently, I picked up a BT mouse and keyboard set. Since it looks like you're from the UK, I did a quick search found that it is avaiable in the UK - It works just fine. The Kensington products have been reliable for my needs. Here's the UK link: http://uk.kensington.com/html/6655.html
    Hope it's helpful.

  • Can anyone recommend a decent case for the N95?

    Hiya,
I always keep my phones in cases, to protect the screens, and I bought one with my N95, but it only covers part of the screen.
Without wanting to advertise anyone - I've used Krusell cases for years now, but their case for the N95 seems awkward, because you seem to have to open a flap somehow to operate it... this obviously sounds like a nightmare.

  • Can anyone recommend a decent wireless printer for an iMac?

Just purchased a 24" iMac and now want to add a wireless printer... I already have a dedicated photo printer so just need this for basic letters and the occassional colour picture etc...Any ideas?

There is only a select amount of printers with Wi-Fi. I have a Photosmart C6180 by HP. It works great and I have had no problems.

  • Can anyone recommend a good wireless webcam?

I wouldd like to set up a wireless web cam in my 8 month oldd son's room as a baby monitor, as the ones you can buy in the shops tend to interfere with my existing wireless network.
I found a couple of suitably cheap ones (under £100) from Linksys, but they are only windows compatible (the video viewer is a windows app). DLink make some, but I am not sure if they will work with Safari.
Can anyone recommend a decent, reasonably-priced wireless webcam thhat will definitely work with a Mac.

I can't recommend a specific camera but do know which ones to avoid. As you have found out avoid cams that require windows to setup. Also avoid wireless cameras that don't support WPA security. Most cams don't have security or they use WEP this means anyone could be outside your house looking through your camera!.

Can anyone recommend plug-ins for vocals? I'm looking for an average "radio" sound. How can I get that?
    Thanks

imac 20 inch 2 gig Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   apogee + miroslav + looking for great midi controler

    well
    Let's start again:
I use imac and ensemble by apogee as my audio
interface with and rode ntk microphone. that should
give me a preatty decent sound, but it comes out
    kinda hollow and unnatural.
    Hi AnyaS,
It seems like the room you are in might be adding it's "sound" and making your vocal sound like it is going through a tunnel,or "hollow" sounding.
Where are you doing your vocal recording? When you sing,do you hear your voice come back at you funny, like from a wall,or like you hear a faint "echo" or repeat in the room?
I could help you,but without actually listening what you are talking about it is almost impossible to know what problems you might be encountering, and also if you can point to a reference CD or artist that you are trying to sound like,I can't really give you concise advise as to what to do to get you there.Do you have any way of showing us some of the sound you are getting so we can listen to it? That can help a lot more than describing in words what you are not liking about your voacl sound.Again a lot of this is subjective use of language,so when you say "hollow sound" it could mean something else to me.
And as to the radio quality - I mean sound more round
and defined - someting that I could send to radio
    and/or AR.
Well,I think you are putting the cart ahead of the horse here...try to get your sound "there" to where you like it first, before trying to be judged by "radio and A&R" people.
I am not sure how I can improve:
    - better/additional hardware or
    - better mastering/playing with software (I have IK
studio bundle - that I have only utilized so far as
    sound source).
I am willing to spend additional $1000 if needed but
    rather not.
I think you do not need to throw money at the problem...that never usually works. It is better to understand what sound you want to get first, and then try to get there.
I'll listen to what you have posted, but if you can have a link to a vocal without ANY processing,i.e. as you record it in your usual place, that would help more than a full mix of your music.I can tell easier what to do if your vocal is by itself.
you can listen to working draft here:

  • Emergency Can anyone recommend a Solid authoring program?

Can anyone recommend a Solid authoring program other than Encore? I have just started using Encore CS3 and have run into a lot of bugs. I have used Sonic in the past and found it pretty reliable but have not been shopping around for awhile.
It needs to be able to burn DVD and Blu-ray discs.
    Thank you!!!

For DVD authoring, we use Scenarist. It's the first authoring system we used that didn't cause us to miss project deadlines due to peculiar and cryptic errors, or sluggish UI. I can work in Scenarist as fast as I can move the mouse and type on the keyboard. No waiting. We tried numerous other DVD authoring apps from 2001 - 2003 and none of them were reliable enough for commercial production work, plus, discs made with the consumer programs frequently failed to play or function properly on the majority of available DVD players. When we switched to authoring in Scenarist, all problems stopped. You take a 2 week course at Sonic to learn how to use the system and once you grasp how it works, there's nothing else like it.
Presently, there isn't a market for Blu-ray that justifies Scenarist BDMV, so we're stuck dabbling with Encore, which is like trying to swim in rubber glue. Maybe if the UI were 50X faster than it is now, it would be tolerable to work in, but the present version makes you wait for every mouse click. Move to a different point on the timeline and you could be waiting five or more minutes. Absurd. No such delays with Scenarist--I can navigate around instantly, drop in chapter markers, add multiple angles, do mathematical operators using the GPRMs to control program flow and menu behaviors.. the list is enormous.
Encore is finicky, won't work on some systems, requires patches and updates to the OS and various parts of the OS subsystem in order to fix several unknown errors, and is just glacially-slow. I have a hunch they make it that way as part of their agreement with Sonic to license some Sonic technology in Encore, otherwise, why would a disc authoring facility spend 125X the price of Encore to author Blu-ray? Crippling the Encore program so it's too slow to be used by anyone in a production environment would make sense, if my hunch is correct. Product segmentation, is what it's called. You cripple the low end product so as not to impinge on the sales of the high end product.
