Can anyone recommend a glass or plastic screen protector that fits a Speck Candy Shell case?

Hi. Does anyone know if a glass screen protector will be too thick to fit the Candy Shell case? I really don't like the film options. I specifically want to get the Sir Lancelot's Armour glass protector.

Ive seen and played with most all the zippered strapped cases, and most all of them are awful.
it still ended up back at the Incase strapped case, very thin, but very well padded, well made and the perfect all around choice.
id recommend getting a like new used one for $25 on ebay rather than $60 new.  But as you wish.

$20 , Incase used like new , perfect choice.
same case new is $60

  • Screen protector that fits iPhone 6's curved display

i have a screen protector on my 6 but it's cracked and I want a new one. The one I have now doesn't cover the curved edges of the phone and I was wondering if anyone had a screen protector that did cover it. I know bodyguardz just came out with The Crown but I don't know if it's good or not. Does anyone have it already?

It depends - lay your phone flat on a table and use the edge of a credit card to firmly press down on the screen protector just before the bubble starts and move the credit card towards the edge
You may be able to at least make the size of the bubble smaller
But that means there is an area of loose contact where air and dust will accumulate again so any gains may be temporary

  • Can anyone recommend a solid, cheap mono laser printer that will work with Mac OS X?

I'm currently looking for a cheap, no-frills printer. So far, most are incompatible with Mac OS X or are too expensive to buy and run.
    Does anybody have any recommendations?
    Thanks!

I've been interested in this for some time and it all seems rather difficult. I had a Samsung ML-1610 mono laser before I bought my iMac three years ago. It worked fine with a Windows 98 laptop and was cheap and I think a bit of an out of date model then. When I bought the Mac one thing that worried me was - would the printer work? Discovered ML-1610 is not Mac compatible at all (officially). Searching for some time found various suggestions to make it work. The simplest was to download driver for ML-1710 and yes it DID work and still does. I even bought a replacement toner cartridge. Samsung mono laser printers are very good value but seem to be NOT very Mac friendly, even the models that are Mac compatible. It is too risky to get involved with models that are not on the Mac drivers list. Also not too happy about models that have Gutenprint or CUPS drivers. Yes, I believe Brother is quite Mac friendly, don't know how cheap. Mac showrooms don't have cheap mono laser printers, the style just isn't right, but they are great. I would never go back to an inkjet.

  • Can anyone recommend a powerpoint-like program for mac that is free?

I cannot afford to spend a fortune on power point but my kids are always needing to do pp presentations for school.  Is there a good free program out there or even one with a lower price point?

Apple's Keynote (like Power Point) is available by itself through the App store for $19.99, however, you need to be at OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later to access the App store.
You can also buy the iWork suite, which has Keynote, Numbers (think excel), and Pages (think Word) for $79 from Apple. If being downlevel one release is OK, the iWork '08 package is available through an Amazon vendor for $38.98 which includes shipping.

  • Can anyone recommend a duplex black & white wifi printer that has a driver for Yosemite?

I was going to buy a Canon 6030 dw, but I don't think it's supported up to Yosemite.

Then you won't need to worry about drivers.

  • Can anyone recommend me a Northbridge fan replacement?

I have a MSI K8N Neo4-F nForce4 and recently i have been experiencing random crashes and lock ups which i think are due to the northbridge fan failing (it was making horrible noises).
I tried to replace this with the Asaka heatsink/fan combination thing but it didn't fit under the graphics card as there is only about 1.5cm vertical space available. Can anyone recommend a replacement suitable for this motherboard? Preferably a cheap one. =)
Also -i don't know much about chipset- is it safe to run the computer without a northbridge fan installed assuming i don't do anything intensive like games or whatever?
    Thanks in advance.

I was sniffing around some other forums,(as you do), when I came across this post. It sounds intresting, and may be worth giving it a try.

"Repair your noisy cpu and system fans
This is a fix that will last for a long, long time.
Buy some graphite powder and some oil at an auto or hardware store. They come in different packages. For oil, the best is the pen-type as they are easy to handle and only give a small amount at a time. Just about any oil in a pen format will work fine. The graphite powder comes in small plastic tubes. But make sure you get graphite powder, not graphite oil, its too thin for this job! So you need graphite powder in a small tube and oil in a round "pen" that can be squeezed out and placed just where you need it. Also, when the oil is used up in the "pen" you can open it and add your own oil.
First, clean the fan blades off real well. If you have a heatsink with the fan then clean the heatsink off as well. You can even use a bit of your oil and some q-tips for cleaning if needed. Then, take the small circle, it usually has a name on it, but its in the middle of the fan. Peel one edge up carefully and put a very small amount of oil in where you lifted the label up. Now add some graphite powder in the same place where you put the oil, add as much or a bit more of the graphite powder than the oil. Clean off excess oil and graphite and push the label back where it was. You may need a very small amount of duct tape to hold the label in position and to prevent leakage. This is important if the fan is going to "sit up" as opposed to lying flat.
Now put the fan back where you want it and when it starts spinning it may be noisy for a few seconds until the graphite\oil works its way in. Then it will stop and it will stay stopped for many years and you may very well not need to buy a new fan after all!
I experimented a lot with this and this is the very best way to quiet all those fans and have them work well. I have always been a big fan of those removable ide hard drive trays that you can buy. But the fans are the pits, they get noisy real fast. So i had to find a way to fix them as they are very expensive and hard to replace. Now i don't have to. Combo of oil and graphite is the very best, by far. One caution, graphite stains worse than
oil, so be careful! I'm talking about staining your clothes and hands.
You can use this system with all CPU fans, video card fans, system fans, and even fans inside power supplies. But one word of caution, its easy to open a power supply and take out the fan, but do be careful as there are voltages there can can hurt you badly. If you don't know what you are doing then wear rubber gloves to get the fan out and to put the fan back in after the
    repair!
Trust me, this will work. If the fan spins my method will work for years and I have even fixed fans that were stuck and wouldn't spin! This is better done with the fan on the table but in those cases where you cant or don't want
to take the fan out of the system, that's where the "pen" with the needle comes in again, but i still find a way to get some graphite in as well, graphite is what makes the oil last a long time! And graphite is also an oil, but you need both together for maximum effectiveness. Oil by itself will only last a few weeks or so and then evaporate, and the fan will get noisy again. Its the graphite powder that does the long term job. The oil really only helps to spread the graphite powder around really well so the graphite can do the job!
Hope you do as well as i have with this info!"

    Edit - Additional Info
The type of northbridge fan used on some MSI boards, eg K8N Platinum & Diamond etc, require that you remove the fan from the board first (you will have to remove the motherboard to do this). This is because the top of the shroud is attached from the bottom by two tiny Phillips type screws. Once you have removed the shroud, very gently prise off the fan from the motor assembly. There is no need to try and remove the three other tiny screws that secure the fan motor in place to the bottom half of the shroud. Once removed, you will see that under the fan is a small plastic pin that holds the sleeve bearing in place.

  • Can anyone recommend a good instruction book for intermediate Mac users?

I have been using Mac for 3 years now so am not a total beginner, but still need help in many areas of OS X use. These forums are brilliant and thanks to the willing help from more expert members I have learnt a lot ( thank you), however there are times when just having a book open in front of you is the easiest way to get to grips with something. Can anyone recommend a good user manual for people like me who don't need a real beginners guide but also don't want a mind numbing, in depth, advanced text. I already have Maria Langers Visual Quickstart Guide which is useful but is exactly what it says, a quick start, and David Pogues Missing Manual which I find a little frustrating as he seems to fall short of explaining exactly how to do something after he says it can be done!
I guess what I am really after is a clearly written book that is good for beginners and more advanced users alike, with screen shots to show you what you should be doing.
    Grateful for any suggestions.
macbook white 2ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   512mb ram and 60gig hard drive,

    Hi again,
Many thanks for the feedback and the star!
For troubleshooting, Dr Smoke's Troubleshooting Mac OS X eBook is invaluable. Again, I have the Panther edition. I haven't, yet, felt the need for the Tiger edition with so many of the tips available free via his FAQs.
The only drawback, of course, is that when one is in a fix and possibly unable to boot up, the e-book isn't accessible unless one has a copy on another Mac.
    Have fun,

  • Is there a way to get the calculator from the dashboard to appear along with other programs?  Can anyone recommend a calculator which will work as a stand alone app?

AS it stands now, in order to use the calculator that comes with the Dashboard, you cannot read from a list of numbers in, lets say, word or excel. The dashboard is full screen and nothing can stand along side it. Is there a way to get the calculator from the dashboard to appear along with other programs?  Can anyone recommend a calculator which will work as a stand alone app?

there is one, just search with spotlight "Calculator".
    It works great!
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it Possible in JSF? Can anyone recommend any java Technology for this?

I am doing Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science. This is my final semester and doing project work.
Any body having idea about my requirment, help and guide to me
My description and questions are as follows:
    Current Approach:
PHP has been used to achieve the flexibility of creating custom images on-the-fly. Using this approach we were able to create a web-interface similar to the application client, where we could display links and get the exact look and feel of the application client.
    Drawback:
This approach forces us to use two different technologies Java and PHP, since our system uses 'Java' accessing all the API's from PHP becomes a problem. while PHP provides a way to invoke any java method. It comes with a draw back, the method calls are little slow. This delay's are loading of web-page.
    Requirment:
    1. Creating custom images on various locations of the screen
    2. The Exact look and feel of the application map should be achieved
    3. Place elements and links correctly as in application-client reflect any changes
    4. Generation events on the Links and Elements
    5. Setting Backgroud images for different maps
    Questions:
    1. is it possible in JavaServer Faces (BETA)?
    2. If it is possible is JavaServer Faces(BETA) How to create custom images and create interfaces among them?
3.Can anyone recommend any java Technology for doing this?
Anybody having idea, help and guide me for doing my project

    hi,
I think you can use JSF

  • IPhone 4 Cases...  Can anyone recommend one?

I have the iPhone 4 "Bumpers" which are great but they don't offer me the amount of protection I would like to have for it. I'm referring to mainly the touch screen getting scratched or otherwise trying to carry it around w/me.
Can anyone recommend a good iPhone 4 case or a good place to purchase one?
    Thanks!

You don't need to be in an industrial environment to get dust, lint and moisture in the ports/switches of the phone. Look at all the posts in this forum about "stuck in headphone mode" and "no sound" due to crap getting in the headset jack. How about "unsupported accessory" messages due to dirt in the dock port and all the post about moisture sensors triggering without immersion due to inadvertent sprays.
The Defender covers ALL ports, buttons and switches, keeping what you don't want out. It even covers the ring/silent switch avoiding unintended "silent mode"... Definitely ugly though.

  • Can anyone recommend a lightbox software that is completely 508 compliant?

Can anyone recommend a truly 508 compliant lightbox software? By that I mean, you can access the lightbox with the keyboard only (no mouse action at all), i.e. you can tab through the lightbox gallery, access any links for more info within the pop up box, close the last box in the gallery, not have the screen reader read all the html in addition to captions, and make sure that the screenreader knows there is a lightbox there and announces it.
I bought Ajatix Lightbox v.3.1.6.0 plug in for Dreamweaver as it said it was 508 compliant. It makes beautiful lightboxes but it has some problems in that I cannot close the last lightbox in the gallery without tabbing through the rest of the site and landing back on the page link and reloading the page. Also accessing a link within the pop up is just as problematic. You have to tab through the rest of the site again until it lands on the link. Long winded. Perhaps this is as good as it gets? I've been back and forth with Ajatix who have tried to help but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut way to make these items easier.
Just thought I'd ask to see if anyone else had run into this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Pam

Focus is the main problem in Modal Windows.  I think that unless you have the skills to code your own, it's probably best to avoid them.

  • Can anyone recommend a notebook cooler for a 17" Unibody MBP?

    Hi,
I've been looking at notebook/laptop coolers for my Macbook Pro. Can anyone recommend what the best pad might be?
I've been doing quite a bit of research and see it's not entirely straightforward. For instance, the Zalman ZM-NC1500 has the grill/fans in the wrong place for my MBP - really the cooling area needs to be at the screen end, to directly cool the GPU and CPU.
Likewise quite a few of the better notebook coolers don't seem to be available in the UK, such as the Vizo Ninja 2.
Any ideas what I could go for?

I bought my MBP as a desktop replacement and it gets far hotter than my Powerbook did at peak load. I'm looking to get something to elevate the machine whist cooling the bottom of the unit.
I've seen the NZXT Cryo Lx is well reviewed and actually seems to do a good job. Can't find a UK supplier with stock though.

  • Can anyone recommend a programmer that can fix iWeb for Internet Explorer?

Can anyone recommend a programmer that can fix iWeb for Internet Explorer? I had one experienced source from GetaFreelancer.com who did a 17 page fix for $25. He would have done commented code for $40 so I could do the fixes myself afterward but he is not available right now. Guru.com yielded no comparable sources. Elance has a $50 minimum. All the other bids were in the hundreds of dollars without the commented code.

The image on the right of your index page needs pulling down a bit, it looks messy covering the top banner.
Secondly, you've changed quite a lot on your page so this makes life harder for everyone. For example, now at the bottom of the page in fireFox I see 'IP' on the line below the rest of the details, but because you changed things I now don't know whether that's because of my screen resolution or your coding. Is it still on one line for you?
The problem with your columns may partly be based on the fact that you have a variety of span classes effectively achieving the same thing, and there are lots of unnecessary bits of code. How much of this is iWeb and how much is you I don't know. You've got an li class, a paragraph class, a written-out span class and some kind of specified bullet class all for one sentence. You only need one, maximum two of those things. Even if it's not conflicting and that's not the reason why it looks messed up, you'd do better to strip the code of all the unnecessary rubbish.
To do this with help I recommend someone who is familiar with iWeb and has access to it in front of them. A professional programmer won't be able to help you, because they can't really tell which bits are generated by iWeb and which parts you can actually change.
I recommend starting with a blank page and creating your columns and text without any styling other than bullets. Check it in both IE and FF. Then slowly begin to add your styling back in until you see if there's a problem. Finally, put the text on a (new) page which has your full website styling and see if there's a conflict between your page layout code and your page text code.
