Can anyone share a simple OCR example?

I'm putting together a simple OCR application in 8.2 and IMAQ - snap an image, define the ROI, unwrap, then perform OCR. I'm not finding any useful information on the NI site as to how to put this together. Could anyone share a simple example?

How did you not find them helpful? You need to elaborate on what exactly you want to get done if you need help on these forums.

  • Can anyone recommend a simple example for displacementmapfilter? I just want a simple expand effect.

As the title says, can anyone recommend any simple displacementmapfilter examples?
I have a bitmap image of a sleeping animal that I would like to add a small effect to that will make it look like it is breathing. I'm guessing this should be pretty simple with displacementmapfilter - a spherical distortion tweened over time over the animal's chest.
    Any suggestions?

i don't think there's anything simple about the displacementmapfilter. i've tried to explain it before but i've never had the feeling that i was able to convey understanding.
here's the displacementmapfilter at work:  www.kglad.com, click snippets, click displacement.
    here's the source code:  www.kglad.com/Files/forums/displacementMapFilter_AS3.fla
p.s.  there's commented-out code in there that used a squeeze and bulge function during my early experiments that could probably be used by you.

  • Can anyone share with me how you  write Javadoc?

Can anyone share with me how their companies write Javadoc?
Are your developers solely responsible for it? Do your technical writers own it or review it? How do you make sure it's good?
Right now, my software developers are mostly responsible for writing all the API info and it's of poor quality and really lacking details. I don't mean spelling/grammar-type problems. My developers just don't seem to "get" what information to include, no matter how many guidelines or checklists I give them.
    A very simple example is:
    * Gets the status
public java.lang.Integer getStatus() {...}With no indication of what status values may be returned and what the values might mean.
How do you ensure that what you write is actually useful? Please help!
I'm aware of the method Sun recommends, but I want to know what others do.
    Thank you

    Hi,
Well, concerning the question what a good API documentation should be. Just imagine, you are a programmer and you want to use that API. You need to know how it works. There can be only three ways to find it:
    (1) The API documentation
    (2) Probing experiments. Even a good documentation may not describe everything. Sometimes, the only way to understand certain things you particularly need may be guessing something, writing a code basing on it and see how it works. Then, guessing something again, more precisely now, and so on. Even a very good documented API (for instance, javax.swing) may require that sort of approach to be able to use it eventually.
    (3) At last, when source codes are available, one may look at them and try to understand precisely, what a particular method actually does.
I think the better the API documentation the less one may need to endeavor those two last steps. There is actually a limit about it. Without any proper explanation at all, one may never be able to use a particular API, neither after probing it nor after looking at source codes (that is not to say the sources may be simple unavailable at all).
Concerning how to write the API documentation, that's mostly the question of managing your team. I think, basically, the original source of the ultimate information about everything implemented in the projects are those very programmers (developers) and, probably, some software architects. But those guys normally are not especially eager to write any documentation (especially developers). That your example just demonstrates it. It seems, your programmers just wrote that "Gets the status" for you to make them leave in rest after that. In addition, the programmers normally have such a sort of work and activity that does not match particularly well with the writing literature and doing their main job simultaneously. You should not enforce them to do that!
To write a good documentation, you will need to engage a technical writer. That's normally a guy with some programming background. However, writing some literature is actually what he does the best. (Sometimes, such people do something else about written word beyond the technical writing.) The job of that guy would be to write the documentation. This will take from him (or her) two basic things:
    (1) The ability to understand the whole software system (that's where his programming background will be needed!);
    (2) To communicate with the programmers who have developed the stuff and to obtain from them all the necessary information they know. That may require some personal (verbal) communication with them, because asking them to write everything again will only result in the same "Gets the status" explanations. However, to be successful in this, the technical writer needs to have some explicit management approval behind him. Otherwise, some of the guys will avoid speaking to him at all (saying they lack the time). So, the management should assign them the necessary priority for such communications.
Particularly big projects may even need to have the whole team of technical writers.
Anyway, writing docs is a hard work. But it is extremely important! The good documentation may both increase your sales and eliminate lots of expense on further support of your customers.

Is there any standard reports for inventory aging in oracle ebs 12.1.3 ....... If not can anyone share the query for inventory aging report

    Hi,
It may not be so simple as you are trying to reproduce the historical value.  I believe you have to create a temporary table first.  Or you may use Command feather to get the required data in advance.

I'M HAVING TROUBLE USING THE SAVE FEATURE IN LION AS IT'S MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THAT IN SNOW LEAPORD, CAN ANYONE SHARE THE CORRECT PROCEEDURE TO SAVE A DOCUMENT?

Revert back to Snow Leopard would be the ideal choice.
Not writing in all caps would be nice too, it's SHOUTING
Thirdly, Lion introduced auto-save, so you have to duplicate the file, then open the duplicate to make changes.
    Wonderfully asinine.
Quit the program, it will ask you to save.

  • Can anyone explain in simple terms how to set up icloud when I have 2 identities?

I use my mac.com id for my calendar and contacts, but have a different ID for store purchases and everything else.  I would like to set up my iCloud with a single ID, but I don't want to lose all my historical calendar and contact data, so I need my iCloud tpo import the data from the Mobile.Me 'mac.com' account.
Everything I have read is confusing....can anyone explain in simple terms how I sert the iCloud up?  I run a Macbook, a Windows 7 PC and an iphone, and I need them all to syns together.
    Any help appreciated.
    CliffWragg

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can drag all your contacts (all at once) and each calendar from address book and iCal to your desktop as a back up/copy. Once you have set up iCloud using the ID for your apps, books and tunes etc, you can add the contacts and calendars to the new account by clicking on the desktop files, iCloud will sync them to your other devices.

  • Can anyone recommend a simple Notes/To Do List app

    Hello,
I am going crazy looking for a very simple To Do List / Notes app for my iPhone that does what I want it to do. I have spent hours in the Apps store and downloaded over 12 so far, and have not found the right one. Can anyone recommend one that:
-allows for unlimited lists (To Do Home; To Do Out; Grocery List; Xmas Gift List etc).
-allows you to manually SORT these lists by dragging them above or below the other items.
-allows you to enter unlimited items (or a large number of items) within each list
-allows for more than one line of text for each list item (not one line with ". . . ."after it)
-allows you to manually SORT these sublist items.
-opens directly to the page with all lists
-is attractive (even a cute, "mom" way is fine)
    -has the auto spelling corrector
I don't care about due dates, syncing with calendars or any other fancy stuff. I basically want it to do what the basic yellow Notes app does, but just with sorting capability.
    Thank you very much!
    Sarah B

If a site is sending you spam, it has nothing to do with browsing the web; they can't track you down or discover your email address or anything about you, so you don't need a proxy server. They got your email address somewhere, so if your email provider is Gmail or even Yahoo! Mail, you can block them from sending based on their domain and then you won't see anything from them. If your email provider is your ISP, they can block those for you if you call them and ask them to do it.

  • Can anyone suggest a simple system for backing up my MacBook?

I have a MacBook 120G which runs Tiger. I also have an Aiport Extreme, which is connected to a printer via USB. I want to buy an external hard drive to create a safety back up of my whole system. I have been trawling the suppliers' websites, getting more and more confused. Can anyone suggest the simplest solution for a simple-minded user like me? These are my main confusions:
    a) Can anyone suggest what type / make of hard drive I should buy in order to be able to store my computer's contents and re-boot it in the event of disaster? Will a non-powered hard drive do the job or is it somehow better to get a powered one? It would sit near my desk so I am keen to avoid fan noise if at all possible! I believe I'll need to 'partition' the drive in order to make it bootable, or something - if this is correct, what kind of hard drive is easiest and idiotproof for this?
    b) I think I've concluded it's not worth binning my Airport Extreme and replacing it with a Time Capsule. But is it worth buying Leopard in order to get Time Machine? I believe I can still use the Airport Extreme to connect to the hard drive so that Time Machine would make backups regularly and wirelessly? If so, do I need to use a USB hub from the Airport Extreme so that I can still keep the printer connected? I can only find one HD which has a built in hub - the Iomega Minimax - but I have read reviews saying the fan is noisy. Any other suggestions?
Any help and suggestions about this would be very gratefully received. Many thanks
    Steve

Leopard is a nice upgrade (if your computer has 2GB of memory) and TimeMachine is convenient but it isn't the only way to create a reliable and simple backup system. If you decide TM is your solution buy a drive that has 2 to 3 times as much space as you are using on your computer now. If you are using 80GB of your drive now, buy a 160GB to 240GB drive for TimeMachine. It keeps multiple backups and eats up drive space pretty quickly.
Lots of good backup programs exist but the one I really like is called SuperDuper! It will create an exact duplicate of your hard drive and you can set up a schedule so that automatically backs up new and modified files at specific times/days. With my MacBook I connect it to my external drive on Friday evening and let SuperDuper! do its work overnight. If you chose this router or another that doesn't use TimeMachine, get a drive at least as large as your computer's hard drive.
The Western Digital MyBook series is a good choice and so is the Seagate FreeAgent series. I'd avoid self powered external drives like Western Digital's Passport series unless you intend to travel with the drive. They require special proprietary cables to power the drive which are easy to lose and expensive to replace, among other things. If you can afford a firewire drive that's generally preferable because firewire is faster than USB but the speed difference isn't blazing. If you do you backing up over night speed won't be an issue.
Whether you use TimeMachine or another program, this is just once phase of a backup plan. If you experience a break-in, fire, or flood the backup drive is probably going to experience the same fate as your computer. You also need to think about taking a backup of your most important files off-site. This can be as simple as once a month burning a DVD of your documents, digital photos, and email to a DVD and taking it to work.

  • Can anyone recomend a simple quick audio editing application?

I use Audio Hijack Pro to record all kinds of audio ( e.g. streamed radio, skype calls, voice recordings), all these files are then stored in a folder ready for use later. I often need to trim the beginning and end of these recordings in order to cut off bits of silence or superfluous speech, and I have been doing this in Garageband but this is a rather tedious method as each recording has to be a new project.
What I would like is a simple timeline audio editing application that would just allow me to import the file and open it as a simple waveform and cut and splice the bits accordingly. I think (?) that Quicktime Pro used to do this but I only have Quicktime 10.
Can anyone suggest or recommend such an application? Free or cheap would be good!
    Thanks.

You are missing out if you don't use Fission, this is also by Rogue Amoeba. It is integrated fully with AudioHijack Pro for seamless editing.
    Hope this solves your problem.
