Can  anyone verify this color problem

Importing a photoshop solid color green,(72, 182, 70),  file (tif adobe98) into Aperture 3.2.3 on a lion machine.  When this file gets imported to aperture the color changes dramatically.  When I convert that same file to sRGB in photoshop and then import it into aperture it looks as if most or all of the color was NOT lost or hosed as the Adobe98 file was.  Can anyone explain what is going on?  Thanks Ireally want color management to work.  david

Thank you for your help. I am glad that I am not alone with this problem. I feel it is a really huge error, but most people don't care, because they don't own a wide gamut display. If you don't see the problem you don't miss a solution.... For sure the Apple Aperture folks use Apple Displays, they can't see the problem too, if it exists outside my own Aperture installation. To verify this I did the following:
1) Fresh installation of Aperture: Trashed Aperture.app, trashed Aperture Application settings, reinstalled Aperture 3 from DVD and did the 3.3.1 update. Made a new library. It did not help!!!
2) Used my Macbook Pro to verify. The same problem!!!
How can I verify this on a Laptop display with really small gamut? This is a way to test it for you without owning a WideGamut Monitor:
Download the already known display gamut test image:
http://www.colormanagement.org/de/monitortest.html
Import it in Aperture
Open it in Photoshop independent from Aperture
Be sure that View > Onscreen Proofing in Aperture and the similar in Photoshop is OFF
Place the both application windows beside each other, as you can see the both images at once. I estimate at this time you can't see the stripes not in Aperture and not in Photoshop.
Now change the system wide display profile to "Wide Gamut RGB". If the problem resists in your system too, you will see the background stripes in Photoshop but not in Aperture.
It looks like in my screenshot here:
Left Aperture: No stripes, right Photoshop: Stripes in the second and third image.
To switch to WideGamutRGB is nearly the same as using to the CG301 Eizo profile, the difference in seen colors is not huge at my MacPro. On my MacBook Pro it is a way off, but it simulates that the Laptop display has WideGamut. The display gets the 0-255 steps in colors from the graphics card but these steps are in a much wider color space. So the LCD of the laptop gets compressed colors with the steps in the background compressed to the 0-255. The result are terrible colors but you can see the driffernece of the steps too.
I hope my explanation was understandable. If your test shows the same as mine I think we proofed a really big bug in Aperture. For me it is catastrophic, because I am a big fan of Aperture. Its workflow, its smoothness, the look and feel, the print module etc. etc. everything is nearly perfect. But not with this severe colour mangagement problem that forces some kind of sRGB for all image editing.
A note: This testimage is specially made to value the quality of monitors regarding color gamut. If you see the stripes in image 2 it is okay for AdobeRGB, if see them only in image 3 it is good for sRGB, if you see them not at all the gamut of the display is less than sRGB for the color red. Thiss tells the legend on the right side in German. To see the stripes with all displays you can switch of the blue and green channels in Photoshop.....

  • I read somewhere that the iPhone 4S owners were going to get a free bumper, can anyone verify this?

    Hi, I read a lot of tech news on Engadget and online and I don't really remember where I recently saw that Apple was going to give us iPhone 4S owners a $15.00 gift card or a free bumper because of the signal or antenna issues that the phone has, can anyone verify this?  And if so, can you lead me, or provide with some information please?

  • Can anyone explain this ADVANCED problem?

    I created a RAM disk on my Performa 6360 (running OS 9.1 136MB RAM) one day and after I rebooted the Mac was not bootable. I did the following to get it to boot, none of which worked.
    1. Booted with extensions off
    2. Booted with the OS 9.x, OS 8.5, OS 8.1, and TTP CD-ROMS
    3. Booted with a Zip disk
    Nothing worked and the Mac was not bootable. I believe I also tried clearing the PRAM and still the mac was not bootable.
    The solution however was to boot from a floppy created with the OS 8.1 CD-ROM some time ago, trash the memory prefs and bang the mac was back and working.
    Can anyone explain why my Mac behaved the way it did in reponse to creating the RAM disk, and why the floppy was the only solution to get it back up and running?
    No mac expert (or those claiming to be experts) have been able to explain why the Mac behaved like this.

    John
    You mentioned 136MB of physical(?) RAM in the Performa, and OS 9.1 (about 55MB needed), but not the size of the RAM Disk. Was VM enabled also, and how much? RAM Disk allocation is part of the System reservation of RAM (which you can see in About This Computer after restarting). If the RAM were in excess of 80MB (I know. I know. But I have used RAM Disks as big as 300MB on my 9500, which has 1GB of RAM.) the System might not have been able to shoehorn itself in at System heap allocation time. Why no message? Possibly because the system (Start Manager and friends) hadn't reached a point where they had voices. The foregoing all happens at system test time, long before OS load time.
    It is also odd that resetting PRAM did not abolish the RAM Disk, unless your backup battery is failing (at 3.3V or less in circuit). Shut Down of desktop machines is usually preceded by the warning that the contents of a RAM Disk will be lost, even though the memory allocation will be made again at the next startup. 'Persistent RAM Disk' is usually available only in PBs—which save the RAM Disk's contents to the HDD, and reload them to the RAM Disk's memory plot at Startup—for good reason. Your eventual solution perhaps holds a key, ie corrupt (and bizarrely so) Memory Preferences.
    Disk Tools floppies are sometimes worth their weight in any scarce commodity that you may wish to name. Only last night I was saved by the floppy for System 7.5.3 after I had unthinkingly put a pure PPC extension into the 7.5.5 System folder on my IIci. The Mac would not find its HDD, to boot from, or to mount it when I tried to boot from a 7.5.3 CD or an external HDD with 7.6.1. When I had trashed the extension, all was sweetness and light again. Floppies one. Christians nil.

  • Can anyone replicate this JSTL problem?

    The following code fails in tomcat 6:
    <c:if test="${not empty requestScope.form && not empty requestScope.form.result}">
    </c:if>but this one works fine:
    <c:if test="${not empty requestScope['form'] && not empty requestScope['form.result']}">
    </c:if>

    I can't replicate the problem easily.
    The tiles exception is potentially hiding the real exception. Check your logs for a root cause.
    I presume "result" is actually an attribute of your "form" object which is an attribute in request scope?
    Here is a test page that I threw together. It should compile and run as is.
    All three scenarios work - where both form and result are present, when just form is present and result is null, and when both are null.
    I would probably go looking into your Form and Result objects.

  • Can anyone verify this console error?

    When I mount my airdisk in 10.5.2, I get this error everytime in the console:
    Mar 14 17:38:23 Ryan mds[21]: (Error) Message: MDSChannel RPC failure (fetchPropertiesForContext:)
    Mar 14 17:38:23 Ryan mds[21]: (Error) Store: <MDSDistantStore: 0x364810>{channel:0x35fd40 localPath:'/Volumes/Storage'} bring up failed -- will retry
    The airdisk works fine and at great speed. I just want to know if it is normal or not. Thanks.

    Check out this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6853786
    The error relates to the failure of spotlight to index/search Airdisk volumes. It means that performing searches on Airdisk volumes will always fail to return any results.
    A workaround is to mount your Airdisks using SMB but this renders the normally useful Airdisk Utility redundant. Also, I find that SMB doesn't handle unicode characters as well as AFP does.
    I think there are 2 problems here. There is a problem with the AFP implementation used on the AEBSn, if there weren't then Time Machine would be supported. Then there is a problem with the mds daemon, rather than fail, it should degrade and allow non-indexed search to problem.

  • Hi can anyone solve this my problem

    class myclass
    public static void main(String arg[])
    when i execute program
    javac myclass.java
    then run program
    java myclass
    everything is ok here.But my confusion is that when we define main () method,we write it with parameterized method (String ar[]) and at the run time we are not giving any parameter.
    or value.then how it is work actually. even there is not function overloading.

    at the run time we are not giving any parameter or value.then how it is work actuallyThe argument array is of zero length.
    In the example you posted, add a line and see this for yourself:class MyClass {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println(args.length);
    }Not that in Java, class names should start with a capital letter.

    Hi all, I upgraded my MBP to Lion , but on the screen where i need to type my password, click  on my photo and it does not appear the place for me to type my password and it stay stuck there. Can anyone solve this problem for me?

    Reboot the machine holding Command and r keys down, you'll boot into Lion Recovery Partition
    In there will be Disk Utility, use that to select your Lion OS X Partition and Repair Permissions.
    After that is done reboot the machine and see if you can log in.
    If not repeat the above steps to get into Lion Recovery, get online and reinstall Lion again, it will overwrite the installed version and hopefully after that it wil work.
    Reboot and try again.
    If not follow my steps to create a Snow Leopard Data Recovery drive, then option boot from it and grab a copy of your files off the machine.
    Then reinstall all your programs onto the external drive like setting up a new machine, then use Disk Utility to erase the entire internal boot drive (select the drive media on the far left, not the partiton slightly indented) format Option: GUID , 1 partition OS X Extended and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the external to the newly formatted internal drive. Once that is finished reboot and disconnect the external drive.
    Once you go that, boot into Snow Leopard and update to 10.6.8, use the AppStore and option click on Purchases and download Lion again and install.
    Lots of work, but there is no Lion disks.

    Hello! The question is this. In London, took the Iphone 5 as sim free, flew to Moscow put Simcoe, and he writes me that is locked to the operator O2. Can anyone encountered this problem? What to do? How to remove the Unlock?
    <Edited by Host>

    Look at your receipt. Does it say unlocked? It is possible to purchase both locked "sim free" and unlocked iPhones from Apple.
    ONLY the carrier an iPhone is locked to can legitimately unlock it.
    IF your receipt says that it was supposed to be unlocked, and it is not, call AppleCare. They should be able to straighten it out.

  • The trashcan is not showing up in the upper right-hand corner of my photos, so I can't delete them. Can anyone address this problem?

    The trashcan is not showing up in the right hand corner of my photos on my iPad. So I can't delete pictures. Can anyone solve this problem?

    Where did the photos come from ? Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing.

    Have an iphone 5c 8g. The home button has stopped working. Did the same a few months ago and recovered 24hrs later. Can anyone explain this problem. Phone still in warranty. Had steam issue recently but this was after last home button episode and no evidence of damage.

    If you are playing in hockey arenas a lot or if you are bringing it into bathroom same time as shower it may not seem like much but overtime the steam can acquire and build up in the phones usb dock flex cable swell as the home button flex cable. Bring again into apple store and should be covered under warranty again. could also be a delay in a 8gb 5c software may just be very lag.

  • Can others verify this bug in Pages 5.0.1?

    I think I've found a bug, but would like to see if others here can replicate it.
    Running OS X 10.9.1, do the following:
    1) Launch Pages 5.0.1
    2) Open/Create a New Document
    3) Go to Edit-->Spelling and Grammar and Check ON "Correct Spelling Automatically"
    4) on a new blank line, type: thsi
    5) The autocorrect box should pop up with "this" as the correction
    6) Hit the Escape Key or click the X in the autocorrect box in order to reject the option to correct
    7) Then hit the space bar to keep typing.
    On my machine (and on my wife's machine) Pages will go ahead and autocorrect "thsi" to "this." No matter how many ways I tell pages to REJECT the autocorrect choice, it still autocorrects.
    This is not the proper or expected behavior, and it is not how autocorrect works either in iOS 7 or in the Mail applicaiton on Mavericks; in both of those instances, once you have rejected the autocorrect alternative you are able to keep typing and leave "thsi" or whatever else you typed and meant to type intact.
    Can others verify this bug???
    Please note: there has been some confusion about where the spelling autocorrect settings reside; this is a confusion caused by Mavericks. There is a "correct spelling automaticaly" setting in Settings-->Keyboard-->Text, but there is also an "correct spelling automatically" in the Pages Edit menu. On my machine, the Pages setting appears to override whatever is found in the System settings.

    Another autocorrect bug:
    I type a lot of lyrics, which tend to cotain words like ’cause and ’em instead of because and them.
    I've set up autocorrect instances to change a plain apostrophe with an ending, single curly quote for these words, but they are invariably changed to a beginning, single curly quote mark by Pages. The only way I can get the correct curly quote is to type over the wrong quote manually and hope that I don't have to edit the rest of the word again, as this would cause autocorrect to kick in again and change the quote to the wrong, beginning curly mark again.
    Does anyone know how to get around this tedious problem?

  • Can anyone explain this behavior and tell me how to fix it?

    Using NetBeans 6.5 on Windows, Glassfish v2.1
    I have a JSF application with a page that has a tab set.
    On one of the tabs I have a panel with company information.
    One of the components on the page is an InputText field with the value bound to a session bean variable.
    The tab also has an Add button.
    Here is what the JSP looks like for the input text and button components
       <h:inputText binding="#{MainPage.companyNameTF}" id="companyNameTF" readonly="#{SessionBean1.readOnlyFlag}"
       <h:commandButton action="#{MainPage.mainAddBtn_action}" disabled="#{SessionBean1.disableEdit}" id="mainAddBtn"
            style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; left: 425px; top: 380px; position: absolute; width: 75px" value="Add"/>
         This is all plain vanilla stuff and I would expect that when the Add button is pushed, the session bean property would be filled with
    the value entered in the input text field.
    In the java code for the page, I have a method to process the Add button push.
    Originally, it just called a method in the session bean to check that a value was entered in the input text field by checking the bound
    session bean property.
    For some reason, that was not getting filled and I was getting either a null or empty string rather than the value in the text field.
    I added some checking in the method that processes the Add button push so I could check the values in the debugger.
    Here is a sample of that code:
        public String mainAddBtn_action() {
            String s = sb1.getCompanyName();
            s = (String)this.companyNameTF.getValue();
            s = (String)this.companyNameTF.getSubmittedValue();I check this in the debugger and NONE of the variants that I have listed have the value that was entered into the text field.
    The submittedValue is null and the others are empty strings (that is what they were initalized to).
    This is all pertty straight forward stuff and I am at a loss to explain what is happening.
    Can anyone expain this behavior, and, most important, how can I force the values to be present when the Add button is pushed.
    I have never experienced this problem before, and have no clue what is causing it.
    Thanks.

    Basically, the component bindings are just being used in plain vanilla get/set modes.
    I set them to "" when I do a clear for the fields and they are set to a value via the text field.
    No other action other than to read the values via get to insert them into the database.
    And, I always use the get/set methods rather than just setting the value directly.
    This is what is so strange about this behavior - I have created dozens of database add/update/delete pages using this same model and have not had a problem with them - even in a tab context.
    Not a clue why this one is different.
    I did notice that I had an error on the page (in IE7, you get a small triangle warning sign when something is not right).
    I figured that might be the problem - maybe buggering up the rendering process.
    I tracked that down and do not get that anymore (it had to do with the PDF display I was trying to get working a while back), but that did not resolve the problem.
    I don't think there are any tab conflicts - none of the components are shared between tabs, but I will see what happens when I move a couple of the components out of the tab context.
    I noticed that it seems to skip a cycle. Here is what I can do.
    1) Fill in text fields and add a record - works fine the first time.
    2) Clear the text fields
    3) Enter new data in the text fields and push Add
    4) I get an error saying fields are blank from my data check process.
    5) Enter new data and push Add - the record is added with the new data.
    My work around is to not enter data in step 3 and just accept the error message in step 4, then go ahead and enter the real data in step 5.
    Very ugly, but it works every time.

  • Can anyone read this Apple crash report?

    Hi everyone!
    My iMac's been absolutely fine since I bought it. The Lion upgrade was smooth. I upgraded on the first day Lion became available.
    In the past week, I keep getting every other day a progressive gray screen and a warning that the computer needs to restart. I've no idea what's causing the crash... it happens when I have the standard suite of apps running (Mail, iTunes, Safari, etc) so no exotic application.
    Here's a crash report. Can anyone read this and pin point the problem?
    Thanks!
