Can Aperture use Iweb pages?

Greetings All:
I've got several site that have been created using Iweb. But would like to generate the photo type pages using Aperture and then melt the two together.
Is it possible to import my Iweb template into Aperture so the photo pages will look like the balance of the site.
As a side note I want to do this because Aperture will make my work flow much faster and it is much more seamless.
Thanks
Doug

There appear to be two options here, I have used both on a .Mac site. The first is to use the Automator export to iWeb script you can obtain here http://www.automator.us/aperture/example-08.html. This will create an instant iWeb photo album from an Aperture export. I found it is helpful to have iWeb open as the export can hang while trying to open iWeb if it takes a long time to open (mine does). Second, if you are using the flash album export to grey box in Aperture you can publish this to your .Mac site or your hard drive and then copy. In iWeb you can assign a hyperlink to the album page. If you publish from Aperture to .Mac, the photo album will reside in your iDisk/Sites folder where the iWeb albums are in the iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb folder. You just need to specify in the hyperlink where you want iWeb to look to find your photo album.

  • I have a domain name with go-daddy can i use iweb to create my page?

I'm trying to help a friend set-up a website.  he has a domain name with go-daddy but hasnt set-up the web page at all can i use iweb and upload it to the domain name he already has bought?  I'm a first time iweb user please help!!

Your friend needs both a domain name and a web hosting account in order to get his website online.  If he has both with GoDaddy.com then yes, you can create and upload the site.
If he has purchased only a domain name he'll need to get a hosting service.

  • Can I use iWeb to "beef up" a facebook fan page?

I'm a total novice to publishing web sites but I have used iWeb to create a personal web page which is my only experience. So, my question is... can I use iWeb to put content into a facebook fan page I've created? I have FBML on the page if that helps.

    It would be very difficult and definitely not the right program to do it. You would really need a tool that is geared towards generating HTML such as one of these;
    http://search.macupdate.com/search.php?keywords=html+editor&os=mac
But if there is something specific you would like to do, please me know and there might be a better tool I can recommend.

  • Can I more iweb pages to wordpress

Can I move iweb pages to wordpress

Wordpress is a CMS (Content Management System). You can move the content but not the pages.
Your options are to completely rebuild the site using Wordpress or start a new one and link to the existing pages in your iWeb built site in the navigation.

  • Can I use iweb to design a site then upload without .mac?

I already have a domain name, can I use iweb just for designing or do I have to use .mac as a host?

    Some tips:
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/iwebserver.html
I'm trying to get this working, but it seems iWeb on a non-dotMac server is only up to farily light-weight web pages.
You end up with 3 copies of the site (iWeb, local export, and server). Everytime you update the site, you need to read in the whole thing to iWeb, export the whole iWeb. Then you must either sort out what files have changed and upload only those, or upload the whole thing. For a small site of a few megabytes, this is manageable, but for a large site of a few hundred megabytes or more, this is not feasible.
This is a shame since it is a very nice tool and well integrated with iPhoto.

  • I can't use iWeb at all!

Since I Have my Mac, almost an year ago, i can't use iWeb at all!
When i open iWeb, shows up the iWeb window, but not the templates list.
'New Page' and 'New Site' appear in gray.
And the same happens to the inspectors!
I don't have a .Mac account, but there is people who did websits with iWeb and saved them into folders. I can't even choose the template!
I don't need to publish, I just want to create.

My iLife suit came included with the computer. I can't reinstall, unless I reinstall all Mac OS X!

  • How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application witth just a JRE [Web Application, WAR, JSP, weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds and JRE]

How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application (either a .war file or a war directory structure) without a java compiler?
I suspect either the JSP specification is flawed (i.e. it doesn't take account of servers using just a JRE), or BEA's implementation is broken.
Production servers do not have a JDK installed. They only have a JRE. Therfore a java compiler is not present on the machine that the Web Application is deployed onto.
On the development machine, when the server is requested to load the JSP it creates a tmpwar directory within the Web Application directory structure. This is then included in the resultant .war file thus:
              D:\war>jar -tf gmi.war
              META-INF/
              META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
              gmiService.jsp
              WEB-INF/
              WEB-INF/classes/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/gmiService.class
              WEB-INF/getList.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrict.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrictConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/lib/
              WEB-INF/source/
              WEB-INF/source/build.bat
              WEB-INF/source/gmiService.java
              WEB-INF/web.xml
              WEB-INF/weblogic.xml
              tmpwar/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.class
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.java
When deployed on the production server with the web.xml file set to use the following values (note XML stripped):
              weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds
              -1
              weblogic.jsp.precompile
              false
              weblogic.jsp.compileCommand
              javac
              weblogic.jsp.verbose
              true
              weblogic.jsp.packagePrefix
              jsp_servlet
              weblogic.jsp.keepgenerated
              false
              And in the weblogic.properties file:
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.gmi=war/gmi
I've also tried with the .war file, but that insists on creating another tmpwar directory outside of the .war file.
Then, although I have set pageCheckSeconds to -1 (don't check and don't recompile) ter production server still attempts to recompile the JSP's:
              Mon Sep 25 11:40:11 BST 2000:<I> <WebAppServletContext-gmi> *.jsp: init

The default Java compiler from sun lives in the tools.jar that comes with
the JDK. Just add that to your set of JARs which are deployed in production
and you should be fine. No need to install the full JDK - just make the
              tools.jar available to WebLogic.

I can't figure out if I can create a web site with iWeb without having a .mac account. Apple implies, but is not stating it conclusively, just recommending it:
"iWeb publishing requires Internet and webserver access (.Mac recommended)".
I have no need for .mac and have web hosting elsewhere. Does anyone know if I can just use iWeb to create my website and publish elsewhere?

  • Can I use iWeb to work with live journal?

Hi! Can I use iWeb to control my livejournal? Style? Design? Posts?
    Thx!

No, because Google is not a web host in that sense of the word.  Google has free webhosting, but you need to go to Google and sign up for an account and use Google sites to create your site and then publish it.  It is free because it is then published and hosted on the Google server.  You don't have the ability to publish an ordinary iWeb site to a host like this.  It is the same as Weebly where you create your site in the same way or WordPress.com, where your blog or site is hosted on the WordPress.com servers.
You need to get proper web host such as http://www.hostexcellence.com or http://www.godaddy.com.  Do a search though for the numerous other free web hosts out there - there are more than just Google.

I wonder if someone can guide me or point me to a previous answer on this, since I haven't found one. I'm simply trying to use iweb 1.1.2 on two user accounts (both labled as administrators) on our macbook. The program functions fine on one account, but when I switch over to another user account on the computer iweb will open, but does not let me start a new page, save, etc.
    Thanks much for any response.

Welcome to the discussions. If iWeb's menus are greyed out, the following trick has worked for some:
In the user account which does not let you start a new page, save, etc. — Quit iWeb. Start iPhoto. Select a couple of photos, click on the iWeb icon at lower right and choose Photo Page. iWeb will open up and invite you to choose a template for your new Photos page. Choose any template so that the page is created and then delete that newly created page.
...Now perhaps things are no longer greyed out in iWeb.

  • How can I convert iWeb page to html with NO javascript for email campaign?

I have a holiday greeting I made in iWeb '09 for my business. The service I'm using to use to manage my mailing list wants me to strip all javascript code from the page so it is not seen as spam when it is emailed.
How can I convert the page made in iWeb to an html page with no javascript?
    Thanks

How can I convert the page made in iWeb to an html page with no javascript?
You cannot. There will be nothing left. iWeb pages rely a lot on JavaScript.
Use a template from Mail.app. Or create such template. These are simple TABLES and have no JavaScript in it.
Do Cmd-Shift-G in the finder and type :
    /Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail/Stationery/Apple/Contents/Resources/
Open one of the folders and open each successive folder until you see files like Picnic.mailstationery.
Right-click to show the package content.
Then navigate thru Contents, Resources until you see the files and images you need.
Edit them to your hearts content.
Double-click the file Picnic.mailstationery and it will open in Mail.app for further processing.
