My LCD TV can support up to 1280*720 (16:9)
but the result of auto-negotiate from OSX only support 1024*768 (4:3)

I need a data transfer from a 2005 Macbook to my new one (2010). I damaged the old laptop and although it wouldn't turn on, when I brought it to the Apple Store they ascertained that the hard drive was still intact. They said I needed to purchase a one to one membership to get a data transfer, which I did, but somehow forgot about it and now it's expired. Is there any way I can still get the data from the old hard drive transferred to my new macbook? Can Apple provide this service even though my one to one membership has expired?

Go to OWC where you can purchase a suitable enclosure for the drive. You will need an enclosure for a SATA notebook drive. This is assuming the old computer is a MacBook and not an iBook. I make this observation because the first MacBook was released in 2006, not in 2005. If yours is a 2005 model then it's an iBook and uses an ATA interface.
Install the old drive in the enclosure, connect to your new computer. You can then transfer your data.

That is/was my thinking. When I spoke to a Canon printer tech rep before submitting the question to the Apple Support Community he indicated that Canon no longer provided drivers for one of the older Canon printers I own but noted that some computer companies provide "mini drivers" for some of their printers. He may have been blowing smoke. But not all was lost. Additional research introduced me to a software company that provides printer drivers to the Apple/Mac community. The company is PrintFab. I signed up for the 30 day trial and will be paying for the permanent software version before the trial is up. My 15 year old Canon BJC-85 couldn't be happier and I do not need to get a new portable printer. And no, I do not have any relationship with PrintFab. I hope my reply is helpful to others.

Can Apple Mail be set up to reply to same address message was sent to without having to manually select?

Is there a way to set up Apple Mail so it replies from the same address the message was sent to without having to manually select which email address I'm sending it from? I have multiple Gmail accounts that I forward to one main account and in Gmail it's possible to do this. It's great and super easy. Since I started using the Mail program, I'm constantly sending email from the wrong address and as far as I can tell (which doesn't mean too much) there is no way to prevent this in Apple Mail.
Can anyone help, or at least confirm that there is no actual way to do this? It seems like such a simple option to have, and yet...I dont' see that it's possible.

I'm thinking an Applecript might do it. I am assuming you have all those email accounts set up in Mail so that you can send from them. I'm no Applescript guru but I've thrown this together from some stuff found around the Internet. I doubt it is very robust but give it a shot and tell me if it does what you are asking. I'm sure it could be improved.
This particular script replies to all recipients. Find the line with "and reply to all" and delete those words for a it to be a simple reply.
If you haven't used Applescript, open the Applescript Editor app, copy the script from below, paste it in, compile it. Select an email message then run it. If this works for you, the next step is to create a service from it and give it a keyboard shortcut.

It only has a single HDMI out.
Unless you can find some third party solution or AV amp that will duplicate the output over additional HDMI outputs the answer is no.
You could take an AppleTV from room to room where it is needed and connect to the TV in use, but if you want more than one AppleTV feed best to get another AppleTV...

I had my iphone stolen and it was a brand new replacement so i dont have the serial number. Can apple provide me with the serial number? since it should be on their records

so my iphone 5 kept crashing and i brought it to the apple store and got a new replacement phone. Unfortunately for me the next day it got stolen, i have the find my iphone app but it says my device is offline so i cant track it nor can i wipe the contents. I have blocked my sim, but someone told me that i could get the product itself blocked so that the horrible theif cannot use it at all. Since it was a replacement product and i lieterally just got it i dont have the serial or imei number to get it blocked. Would apple have a record of the replacement devices number? i tried using the online chat but it wont work becausae i dont have the serial number or anything. thanks in advance for your help.

Can't find value set in values screen of flex field

Hi,
I want to see values associated with a value set. This valueset is for one of the segment of Position Flex field of HRMS.
When I go to Application>FlexField>Key>Values and query for the value set, It doesn't appear in the list of value sets. I am unable to find any value set for any segment. Both the value sets are table based.
Can anyone tell me why I can't see them?

You did not say whether you are using Frame 8 or not, but I use Frame 7.2 and have cross-reference elements in my documents; however, they are named XReference. I have no trouble finding them...an element is an element.
Check to be sure your EDD includes elements named xref and that when the insertion point is inside some text that the element catalog shows that xref elements are allowed.
If your EDD does not include xref elements or elements that serve as cross-references but are named differently, then Find will not be able to find them as elements. If you insert your cross-references NOT as elements, then again Find will not find them as elements. You must have an element that you use for cross-references. If so, Find should work.

Can Apple make the iOS 7 lock screen shut down proof? Meaning they can't hard reset or shut the phone down?

Doing so would undoubtedly mean that it would fail standard regulatory safety testing. Could they do it? Sure. If they did, they would not be able to sell them in most of the world.
That would also mean that if anything ever went wrong, and you had to re-boot your phone because it locked up, you would have to make an appointment at the genius bar of an Apple Store and take it in for them to re-boot it, or ship it to Apple so they can re-boot it. Since it's illegal to ship active RUNNING electronics in many if not most places, that means you might have to get on a plane to go somewhere where there's an Apple store so they can re-boot your phone. Oh... wait... you can't do that either because you're not allowed to have a powered on cell phone on a plane.

Did you hook your AppleTV up your Wi-Fi network? If you did the AppleTV should show up in AirPlay in the Control Panel. The Control Panel is accessed by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

If your Powerbook's serial number (do not post it here) starts with "W8" then the vertical lines are mostly likely due to a defect in the display itself. W8 is a factory code and, during the iMac G5 and PowerBook G4 timespan, that factory shipped thousands of units with the same defect. It cannot be fixed via software.
As all PowerBooks are now classed as "obsolete," an Apple Store will not work on it. They will look at it ands tell you it has vertical lines and that they cannot fix it. This Apple article shows Apple devices they curently considered obsolete:

It is possible that some Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) will still work on older computes but they cannot get neededparts from Apple. As this issue was so pervassive, it wil be hard for you or an AASP to find a used/pulled display that is not effected with the "W8 Curse."
Although I love the old PowerBooks, I would not even spent the money for disks, much less the US$150-400 it would cost to replace the display, even should one be available.
If you give us a rough idea of where you are in the world, we can suggest repair shops specializing in fixing older Mac notebooks, but be aware those resources may be rather scare outside North America.

Can't get past "terms of Use" screen at initial set-up

I'm trying to set up our new Nano, but I can't get past the "Terms of Use/User Agreement" screen. There is just nothing showing up which will allow me to "accept" the terms. When you scroll to the bottom of the terms, there is nothing, and there are no tabs anywhere else on the page which say "accept". I've updated my itunes software, operating system software, and tried several times to eject, then reconnect ipod, but no good. Please help.

It is now locked to the original carrier. Sounds like that was Orange. Only the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize the unlock of the phone. You may be able to use it again on Orange, or if they provide unlock services you may be able to get it unlocked, however I have read of many phones that have been hacked to unlock not accepting the factory unlock. anybody able to help me with my setup for apple tv. i've followed the directions in the guide and my tv doesn't seem to register in part. it's weird because my tv system info identifies the apple tv but the screen never went black and it doesn't show anything, too, my imac doesn't seem to register the apple tv unit either

I would try connecting it to another tv to see if it works there if it does
then likely your tv can't handle the default resolution and you should lower it on the other tv
if not then you should connect it by usb to the computer and use itunes to restore it's firmware
