Can apple tv and roku access same ripped dvd movies

Had 2 roku's. Like 'em.
Ripped dvd's and stored on external. (about 150 movies)
Just bought the new apple tv
Do I now need to import all of the already ripped dvd's into itunes library in order to watch them on my apple tv
(thus creating another separate file)
Or perhaps if they were all in itunes library, could roku access them ?
Maybe there's no way around this... but using roku / plex worked well and it was easy to get artwork etc
I did duplicate / import a couple movies into itunes. Get artwork - doesn"t seem to work for dvd ripped movies ?
Nature of the beast i'm guessing.....
Any advice / direction appreciated.

You should be able to stream the video directly to the apple tv via itunes, without copying and creating another large file.
Just drag the movie files to your itunes. It will take a few seconds and will "import" the movies. Once created, you can right click the movie in itunes and then select get info. from there, you can give custom information, and even assign an icon or picture for the movie. Look on line and you should be able to find dvd covers for most movies.
I do this all the time with my movies and also tv shows.

You have to be in a country to use its store - you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account to be able to use the US store (that applies to buying and redownloading).
You can use iTunes Match in South Africa, do you not have a backup copy of all of your US iTunes purchases so that you can subscribe to it and upload those that aren't in the South African store to it ?

No. Apple only offers 5 GB of free iCloud storage for all your devices, no matter how many you have got. If you need more iCloud storage, purchase storage.

My iPhoto library just reverted to an old library: how can I find and re-access my current library? I opened my iPhoto, and got the message that it needed to "update" to use this library. I thought maybe there had been a software update since I last opened the program (2 days ago). The library it opened was saved in a file on the desk-top. My current file was just in iPhoto. Please help!

Best option: Restore from your back up.
Otherwise:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

You can redownload some itunes purchases from itunes, but there is no guarantee that it will be there in the future.

Apple Support, I have just purchased 3 movies 2 from my account and 1 from my wifes account and both systems are stating that it will take 2 days to download. I have a FIOS 150 megabit per second up and 150 megabit per second down busiuness class fiber service to my location. I have tested downloading 10Gbyte files from two other locations and both work fine. I additionally went out and have tested doing speed tests (http://www.speedtest.net/) from over 10 other locations all over the US and all are over 75 magabits per second download speeds with a few hitting 100 and 125 megabit per second speeds. What is wrong with your servers or your internet connection????

I have additionally tried to download them with my Apple TV and two different PCs all wired on Gigabit Ethernet with jumbo frames enabled. I have tried differnet DNS servers also. I can upload and download files to my office 50G in less than 1 hour. I have also download movies from 2 other movie sites without any problems.

People are having all sorts of problems. I restored my Apple TV on computer. You can also try settings. I think you have to turn on using iTunes from cloud on Apple TV. I just rented a movie for my kids and is working fine.

'Ripping' DVD movies for Windows

Is there anyone who could point me in the direction for an application that would allow me to rip dvd movies, but for Windows. All the other posts and applications I have found on the internet are for Mac, which is of no use to me.
Any help is much appreciated!

Can Apple reset and/or find Apple ID information?

My husband and I share same iTunes account attached to the same Apple ID that he uses for iCloud. We created another Apple ID for a 2nd iCloud for me to back up my phone. my phone was having issues so I backed it up to the cloud and erased it back to factory. Attempting to restore my iPhone from my icloud it seems that i remembered my iCloud ID or password, incorrectly. I even double checked my iCloud info from settings before attempting to restore. I didn't write it down b/c when I saw it, I was sure I had it memorized.
I attempted to reset my password, but seems as though the only email attached is the @me account I used for this iCloud. And if it is working and sending a reset password email, I can't sign into the email account because I have my ID or Password incorrect! Even the security question I'd wrong. I got locked out of the account for 8 hours. I called iTunes support and explained the situation, they tried havi g me do all the reset and security questions again....but like I told them I was locked out. They told me to call back in 8 hours. I am afraid they will have me do the same things and I will just be locked out again.
So I am not sure what to try next. I recently upgraded my iCloud for more space also. It seems to me Apple could access the ID we use for iTunes and see the 2 iCloud accounts and would be able to use the security info from the iTunes and my husbands iCloud that I could provide to be able to tell me if my iCloud ID is incorrect or reset my password.
Has anyone had luck with getting back into an account?
I mad an appointment at the Apple Store thinking I may have better luck explaining this situation in person, do you think it would help?

Thanks, I wasn't sure. It just seems like support was not understanding my situation clearly. Just kept asking for my Apple ID and to reset my password. I will try again. Just wondering if anyone knew if this is something support had been able to solve for anyone else or give advise on how to get them to understand what I need.

TS2972 Cannot get home sharing and airplay to work over corporate wifi. Cisco WLC 5508 controllers. Home sharing and Airplay is turned on. Apple ID and account the same on each device. All software is at the latest version. Devices work individually.

All devices at latest software. Each device works individually ie. apple tv can play netflix and hulu videos, itunes works on both an iPad2 and a Pc with latest itunes version. Firewall disabled ports open. Devices on same vlan. Laptop can ping ipad and apple-tv, iPad can ping laptop and apple-tv. The deives just do not see each other ever. All cisco settings are set to recommended settings for home sharing to work. Any ideas?

I seem to have a similar problem. I have a Macbook and a PC, both running the current version of iTunes. On the APTV (also running the current software version), only my Macbook library shows up under "computers". Home Sharing is turned on for both and my Macbook library shows up under "Shared" on the PC, but the PC iTunes library doesn't show up on the Macbook or the APTV.
My question then is: How is it that my Macbook iTunes library can show up on the PC and on the APTV, but the PC iTunes library doesn't show up on either? If the PC can see the shared libraries, doesn't that mean it's on the same network? Along those same lines, "Shared" libraries do NOT show up on the Macbook. Again I ask, how is it that I can see the Macbook library on the PC, but the Macbook doesn't show any Shared libraries?
All of this worked just fine before the upgrade to iOS 5 by the way. I had no issues seeing any library on any devices and the APTV found both computers.
Please help. This is really annoying!

I keep getting a request for my icloud password which was assigned to an old id. I don't remember the password so I click on forgot password after which it tells me to reset my apple id password which I do. I can't find out where to see my icloud profile to then change the icloud id. Where is it? Should the cloud and applie profiles be the same?
